Barack Wins Planned Parenthood Straw Poll

Planned Parenthood just announced that Barack won its recent straw poll, receiving a whopping 42 percent of the vote.

Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards asked supporters to watch videos of speeches the Presidential candidates gave at the Planned Parenthood convention on July 17th.

"Who made the best case for women's health?" Richards asked.

Barack did, they responded.

In the speech, Barack talked about how abortion opponents distract us with culture wars at home, while a real war is being fought abroad.

"I am absolutely convinced that culture Wars are just so '90s. Their days are growing dark," Barack said.

I have read the comment both of you guys wrote and the article that says, " Obama is still a first date". But you all have one premise, that is based on a wrong logic in the first place, that led you guys to the wrong conlclusion. The fact that Clinton is getting these poll numbers can only be a sign that she is known to many people because she has been there for dacades. Obama is new to the field. But, look where he is, that is 2 years in the senate(Obama) Vs. almost 2 Decades in the national politics( Clinton). Now, as time goes by, by January, if this trend is still there, as an Obama supporter, I would ask the Obama Campaign what they are doing. Right now, I am comfortable with what the Obama campaign is doing---- EXECUTE TO THE PLAN, Lads.....

THe same thing happend when Obama was running for the Senate last time. Sorry that people have a short memory, but Obama will repeat history and TURN the page on old style of politics, Turn the page on Health care, Turn the page on the economy, Turn the page on Terrorism, and Turn the page on Education.

Most folks on this blog don't follow Chi-town politics. I think it also has to do with who si being polled. It comes down to two facts- cell phones and land line phones,registered voters who voted in the past two Presidential elections. Old guard dems are 50yrs and over who have been voting most of their adult lives. Obama supporters 20 somethings and 30 somethings-not registered to vote and may have been to young to vote last presidential election.This polls are bogus,It does not reflect whats actually happening with independents and the grassroots.IMO.

I agree with Cilla about the polls - they are polling people with landline phones and people who are home to answer the landline phones. Who would those be? Respectfully, those are senior citizen.

I think that if people with cell phones were polled (and I hope that really DOESN'T happen)the story would be much different.

Don't worry about the polls. We have HOPE. Now have faith, too. There is a reason why this process has started so early. While we're all invited into the political process in our country and to learn about our candidates people just don't take it. Senator Obama has his work cut out for him but he is reaching so many people who realize that they need to get involved in the process.

Your analysis is inaccurate. If anything, Obama has postured himself in a more centrist stance by advocating action in Afghanistan and pushing a largely self-pay health care plan.

Just because you have just recently learned of some of his more left-leaning ideas does not mean he suddenly swung in any direction. His ideas have been a matter of public record for some time. And he has been adding more centrist or right-leaning ideas such as continued military action or self-pay for government insurance.

His views were readily accessible in "Audacity of Hope". He has never kept his views hidden. He's for more open government. He has proposed making government spending searchable using a Google-based engine. He has proposed publicizing lobbyist meetings between the executive branch and lobbyist parties by posting the video content on the Internet for all to view.

Neither Clinton nor Edwards would even entertain those ideas. It would cost them too much money. Money Obama has been willing to sacrifice in order to remain more ethical.

Let's stop the genocide!
How are you going to prevent the GENOCIDE of millions of babies through abortion? Why are you allowing another holocaust to occur in the United States? I am brought to tears evertime I think of the millions of innocent, precious lives snatched away by abortions! If you are elected to be President of the United States of America what will you do to promote Abstinance education instead of promoting the "quick fix" of abortion?

Why is it the President's job to promote abstinence and not the PARENTS job? Why is it everyone else's job? By the way, it isn't just teaching abstinence, it's teaching what to do if it's gone beyond abstinence.

Finally why is a woman's choice a public decision?
First and foremost it should be a something she prays about. God gave us free will. He already know what our choice will be. Second, there should be a discussion with her partner. Finally, woman's choice is between the woman and her doctor. She should be able to discuss options with her doctor.

Really, though, I think this is a private decision between a woman and God.

Why would any woman even ask God when abortion stops a beating heart? Doesn't the Bible(God's word) state: "Thou shall not kill" (Exodus 20:13)?

In this world, many wars will be fought... in the home, in our society, in our country, in our world, and while our current struggle overseas are monumental and worthy of debating no doubt, how can Barack even say that abortions are mere distractions to the bigger problems of this world?
The roots of these many wars (both in Iraq and in our own country) are embedded in our societies desire for power. Women (yes, I am one myself) want to feel like like they have control over their bodies, they want to know that they have the choice to give life and remove life (at their own convenience). It is as if control becomes the bigger issue, rather than the thing (in this case, THE LIFE) we are putting under this control. Yes, women have rights to their own bodies. They should. But a woman who choses to have an abortion, needs to understand exactly what she's doing; snatching the very life from her pre-born baby.

Let's stop to think about the child, not the politics involved.

Maybe if they hear it from thousands of us, they'll do the right thing.
