Yesterday, Barack
spoke to
the National Council of La Raza, the nation's largest Hispanic civil rights group.
Quoting from a telegram Cesar Chavez sent to the Rev. Martin Luther King in 1968, Barack said "I'll be the President who remembers our separate struggles are really one for freedom, dignity and humanity."
The
Daily News
reported that though the convention speakers stressed similar themes, "it was [Obama] whose passion and energy impressed many here."
"There's an inspiring aura about him. I think he really cares for people in the country,"
said David Vera
, a conference attendee.
Barack also
spoke about immigration
. He said that when people are insecure economically, they begin to obsess about undoing the economic opportunities of other people.
Last year, Barack marched last year with Hispanic protesters against a stringent immigration bill, he reminded the group.
"We are a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants. The two things are compatible," he said.

Great idea !! lol
The other thing we reallyyyyyyyy need is a "in person" poll done in the state of MA -- believe the name of the town is Wayland (or "Wayne's World" for short). We need a "door-to-door" poll to find out the total number of registered voters & "which candiate they support" Can we get a volunteer from our "in-house" pollister ??????????
And people from the wonderful state of MA, I'm sorry--I do apolize,I just could not resist this one !!!

Folks, it would probably be best if we all ignored Wayne. His mission is to be disruptive. He's most definately a supporter from an opposition camp. It's not too hard to guess which one. There's only one camp that operates down in the gutter.
If we all ignore Wayne and his ridiculous comments, he will realize that nothing he says will turn us against the next president (Obama) and he will go away.

Romney refuses to apologize for anti-Clinton, -Obama sign
Associated Press - July 23, 2007 11:35 AM ET
EXETER, N.H. (AP) - Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is refusing to apologize for posing with a sign lumping together Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and September eleventh mastermind Osama bin Laden.
Romney posed with a woman holding a sign that said -- quote "No to Osama, Obama and Chelsea's Moma" -- while campaigning last week in South Carolina. At a town hall meeting yesterday in Exeter (New Hampshire), Romney refused an audience member's request that he apologize.
Jerid Kurtz, a New Hampshire-based contributor to Buckeye State Blog, said it was inappropriate to compare the Democratic senators to bin Laden.
...
Romney told Kurtz to lighten up and added he is not responsible for messages on other people's signs. He said also that he has taken a lot of photos with people holding signs and doesn't have time to read them all.

Hey Sam or Alex,
We need the video to this please! I want to hear and see the reaction from the audience. These folks at La Raza don't take kindly to anyone really. So I was kinda wondering why anyone of these candidates would want their support, because they not gonna get it. IMO.Most hispanics vote republican. This I know because of the last pres. election. Don't think too much is gonna change this time.LaRaza is really not an organization I would want the dems to be associated with. IMO,almost as bad as the extreme of all radical latinos. I for one do not see any thing but negitive for Barack from this group of people. Their history speaks for itself. We will see if anything positive comes from this.

I believe Barack should reach out to everyone. I believe the hispanic vote will shift because of the immigration issue.
If Barack becomes President he will need to be for everyone in the United States. Not just a select few.
Remember, Bush refused to speak at the NAACP convention for years. He was the first President to do so since FDR was in office. That made the President of this country exlusive not inclusive.
I think Barack in on the right track.

1) Barak Obama's name does not have a "C" in it. Just thought you'd like to know that since you made that mistake 3 times in the last post.
2) "I believe Barack should reach out to everyone." So you support Obama pandering to every special interest and racial group out there with empty and pathetic rhetoric???
3) "Remember, Bush refused to speak at the NAACP convention for years." Hmmmm...wonder why that was? Oh yeah, maybe it had something to do with the fact that they ran a TV ad featuring the daughter of a man dragged to his death by sick twisted scumbags blaming Bush for the death because he didn't sign hate crimes legislation (nevermind the fact that 2 of the men received the Death Penalty and the other one received life in prison--so labeling this crime as a hate crime would have been absolutely meaningless). Then there was the time that the President (Julian Bond) said that Bush filled his cabinet with those "from the Taliban wing of American politics". Would any person in their right mind go speak to a convention with such hateful, disgusting, and downright false rhetoric? No of course not. The Democrats can't even have a political debate on Fox News (a legitimate news organization) so to criticize Bush for not speaking at the NAACP is just hypocrisy at its finest.

Number one, if you would notice on the website BARACK's name is spelled with a "C".
Number two, the reason why Barack did not debate on FOX News is because of the false story of him attending a Madrassa school when he was a child in Indonesia.
Number three, a President should reach out to all people in this country. Even if there are certain factions that may not agree with him. I believe if you were in a room with Barack, he would try to have some sort of dialogue with you to see where you are coming from.
And by the way, reaching out to people is not pandering. It is doing the right thing.

This is some of the most misleading and worst kind of racial pandering I have seen in years..
Obama: "If there's a child stuck in a crumbling school who graduates without ever learning to read, it doesn't matter if that child is a Latino from Miami or an African-American from Chicago or a white girl from rural Kentucky, she's still our child, and the struggle is our struggle,"
Reality: If there's a child stuck in a crumbling school that graduates without ever learning to read (which coincidentially would not happen in Miami since we have the FCAT which is required for graduation and requires that students read at grade level--10th grade is the final test), that child could go to a different and better school if the Democrats would ever get behind vouchers and merit pay (which Obama did actually endorse once). Of course, that would fracture the unholy alliance with the Teachers Unions.
Obama: The Illinois Democrat said the recent Senate immigration debate "was both ugly and racist in a way we haven't see since the struggle for civil rights."
Reality: I thought Obama claimed that he was bringing a tone of hope and promise to Washington. Since when does that include launching personal attacks at those who disagree with you on a particular policy issue. Opponents of amnesty and illegal immigration (which happens to be a large majority of the American public) have many logical reasons to oppose the bill introduced in the Senate, the least of which has to do with race and ethnic origin. And the comparison of civil rights for African American CITIZENS (key word here) to legalization for Hispanic ILLEGAL immigrants is laughable. Especially for those who have committed crimes and/or are gang members.
Only a matter of time before Obama's true colors shown through.

The immigration debate did have some nasty racist rhetorics and he's right...People just do not like the fact that there are so many latino in the U.S so they used the senate immigration debate to really let all their anger out.

"The immigration debate did have some nasty racist rhetorics and he's right"
The only "nasty rhetorics" I heard were from Open Border sympathizers like Geraldo who claimed that
this is going to result in racial profiling and that enforcement "reminds me so much of when they used to pull down the pants of Jews to see if they were circumsized or not." Seriously though, I'd like to see you cite one example of this "nasty racist rhetoric" from a politician/talk show host/prominent political figure. Just one. Because there are hundreds of reasons to stop ILLEGAL immigration and be opposed to ILLEGAL immigration and to want to deport ILLEGAL immigrant CRIMINALS (which most Americans, unlike yourself thank god, support).
"People just do not like the fact that there are so many latino in the U.S so they used the senate immigration debate to really let all their anger out."
No, actually what they don't like are hoards (millions) of uneducated, low skilled workers who don't speak English coming here (trashing our borders in the process) and using our social service resources for free without contributing tax dollars AND committing crimes in the process (DUI, murder, vehicular manslaughter, identity theft, sexual assault). Yea, you're damn right they used the Senate debate to let out their anger. Their anger that has been building for 20 years about the fact that we haven't secured either of borders and continue to let in millions of unskilled workers who are taking jobs away from Americans and driving down wages while at the same time we've seen more and more stories every day about people killed, raped, and assaulted by these people who are only coming here to "work and support their families". I don't care what race/ethnicity/origin/skin color. If someone is here illegally, deport them. To Mexico, to China, to Mali, to Russia, to Germany, to Colombia, to wherever. I mean it's been six years since 9/11 and we still haven't properly secured our borders to prevent terrorists (who btw are of much much more importance than the average illegal immigrant worker) from spilling across. Get a clue man. The majority of Americans are on this side. Wise up or go live in Mexico & Cuba if you think this country is filled with nasty racists because we (the American CITIZENS) demand the right to our sovereignty and decide who comes here.

If our government was really concerned about illegal immigration and terrorism they would protect the border. period!
Illegal immigrants are here because our government wants them here. I think it's for cheap labor. Perhaps there are other reasons too.
However, the majority of illegals are here because they overstayed their visa - not because they illegally crossed the border.
And there most definately is a racist element to the immigration debate. People are up in arms because they think it's mostly Mexicans who are illegals. Not true.
Nobody even talks about the Canadian border. Why? Terrorists tried to get in the US through the Canadian border. We're not bent out of shape over that so what exactly is the REAL issue?
Immigration, along with many other issues, has to be handled with common sense. That seems to be the Senator's approach. Others are allowing their emotions to get the better of them.

Why do I immediately think--Karl Rove? However, it is these types of things that happen to a President. He has the knowledge and capacity to have others move into this obviously significant vacancy. And another perspective or view can always be an additive factor not a negative.
