A Case for Obama

I wrote this to hand out to people at the events I hold. Tell me what you think. Thank you.

A Case for Obama· The economy is in a slump in all but a few sectors. The market is begging for a new direction. Obama’s plan is to put money back into YOUR pocket and to invest in new technologies that will regain the status the American worker once had.· Prices and inflation continue to rise by the day. This is too similar to conditions once experienced in the Soviet Union. Obama plans to work with companies to make the commodities of life cheaper for all Americans; this includes college, healthcare, energy, and the price of buying and maintaining a home.· Protection of workers and consumers were once a staple of our society. This has begun to deteriorate over the past few decades. It is Obama’s pledge to restore the right of workers to unionize and bargain, raise the minimum wage, and assure that free trade is not just a way to circumvent the rights of man.· For too long we have rewarded companies that take jobs and wealth away from this country. Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act which rewards companies that provide good wages and benefits, maintain their headquarters in the US, provide health insurance and retirement, and support workers who join the military.· There were few representatives in this country with foresight to see the fraudulent nature of the war in Iraq. This unwarranted engagement has cost us dearly, and has also shifted our focus away from the areas where real terrorists exist and train themselves. Obama will roll back US involvement in Iraq. He would also restore our focus on keeping terrorists from being able to reestablish themselves in the hills of Afghanistan.· Thomas Jefferson called politics a constant fight between autocrats and republicans, meaning those for freedom and dispersal of power against those for control and consolidation of authority. John McCain has stood on the side of the most egregious autocratic policies implemented in this country in the past half century; the PATRIOT ACT, Guantanamo, torture, and the right of states to provide for the health of their citizens.· The people of this nation, whatever party they identify with, feel disconnected with their leadership. Our leaders no longer seem to speak for us. Obama has led a campaign that encourages The People to engage in their own leadership. It is this commitment that will keep him responsive to the wills of the people he represents.
