From now on, for the most part, I will be focusing this Obama Blog on what I am learning about Central American/USA relationships, networking others with like interest, and, only occasionally, from the Cultural Creative (fringe) viewpoint. For those writings and posts, see my CenterDoug Blog at http://centerdoug.blogspot.com.
Now, for those of you who have lived with Central American peasants or have an interest in promoting equality in the world, I have a very brief reading list:
Galeano, Eduardo. Open Veins of Latin America.
Just about anything by Noam Chomsky.
Sean Penn's rather rambling but amazingly authentic personal narrative about coming face to face with American foreign policy in Central and South America, called, unfortunately, "Mountain of Snakes," currently running in the Huffington Post. Here's a link to "Mountain of Snakes," a very provocative personal testimony by the great actor Sean Penn about his journey into Central and South America cultures and into a social philosophy which makes sense in countries where 90% of the population earns $2 a day, needs education and strong socialized programs, getting the benefits of the culture to the people on the ground, at the bottom of the beanstalk.

My, oh, my, the cosmic caballero is getting focused.
