I have been living with perpetual excitment over the prospect that we could elect a person like Senator Obama. He is a man who is like so many of us in the silent majority of Americans. He grew up without priveledge and was able to achieve his dreams and over come all the odds. Senator Obama represents the best of what it means to be an American. He exudes a sense of compassion that is infectious. He speaks not with the tones of fear but the promise that anything is possible in America. This election means a renewed faith in the future and above all things it brings my family and I hope for a better tommorow.

As a biracial woman, this election means more to me than I could ever put into words! Just sitting hear waiting for our next president, our next BlACK PRESIDENT, to be announced is mind blowing to me! I will have this moment in history to share with my children and grandchildren someday. I am so overwhelmed that I could cry. I'm sure I will later, but for now I wait with the world to see Barack Obama become President of the United States!

My husband and I arrived at the polls at 5:30 a.m. We waited on line for almost two hours, but I would have waited all day if I had to. I'm 58 years old and I have not felt so excited about a presidential candidate since Robert Kennedy. I can't wait to see the results. My husband is the only one in our household to be an American citizen. He became a citizen in May 2008 and he registered to vote the same day. His vote for OBAMA/BIDEN symbolizes our hopes and dreams for our future. It means that we count as a person in America. We are included in joys, sorrows and glories of this wonderful nation. It means that our children will look forward to a bright horizon filled with opportunities no matter their background. No one, NO ONE is a "second class" citizen in this country. Today means that America has changed for ever. It means that regardless of your life story when given unconditional love and when having deepest passion you can reach for the stars.

I've been working for Obama since the primary; have canvassed in four states and donated lots and lots of money. Today I'm an election judge in Illinois - the lines have been steady - more than 1/3 of our precinct has voted as I write this e-mail from home on my one hour lunch break. People in line are commenting about the historic nature of voting this time. I've just about cried three times so far - I can't wait for the next several hours to go by so that I can let out all of these bottled up tears! So that's my day - and our day!

For the first time, I am going to cast a vote for someone that I have volunteered for, and am soo excited to see become the next President. It has been wonderful meeting so many people (and also talking to so many here on the blogs) I feel I am a part of a huge family of Obama supporters.
My phone has been ringing off the hook with friends and family members on the other line letting me know they have voted. We are making history, and I am honored to have been a part of this.

Hello there! I say, "Worth fighting for" because my husband and I hopefully had our last argument this morning over this election. I am a staunch Obama fan and he a Republican. We never had political disagreements until this election. It is only because I have emotions that I never felt before within me. So much hope, pride, and faith are vested in Sen...(President??!!!) Obama that it is personal. I hate the division in American politics and I am usually turned off and disgusted by it. Sen. Obama is nothing of this type of divisive politics. He represents intelligence and hope. Something missing since I was a little child and Pres. Reagan was in office. God bless America and the pride we may all feel again with Pres. Obama. I FEAR a McCain Palin ticket. Not just more of the same, but even MORE than Bush. It is disgusting to think that our VP could be winking at the American public! Pray for Obama and his family to take office and bask in the sweetness of victory at the most beautiful people to take residence in the WH in decades.

I think about my father and many others like him. These are the parents and grandparents who Barack Obama is referring to when he talks about the people who may not have had certain opportunities, but did what was necessary so that WE could have those opportunities. Because of them, we have reached a day that we may elect a President, not based on the color of his skin, but by the content of his character. These are people that have always taught us that if we work hard and do the right things, we can become anything we aspire to be. Barack Obama is the evidence of this truth.

Today is a historical day; a day for celebration – no matter the outcome of this election. But it is a day to remember those who had visions of the mountaintop, but who did not make it there with us. It is also a day of dedication to those who have come before us, who worked and struggled and sacrificed and hoped and dreamed. so that we could experience a day such as today.

And this is a day for US because this election was about us. I feel that we have been inspired and motivated to become involved. And because of the message of change and hope, we can again dare to dream of a better future for ourselves and our children.

I am a 61 year old African American woman who lives in WV. I grew up in DE (Biden country - Yay!) during the Civil Rights movement, watching the incidents on TV - the marches, the protests to include Dr. Martin Luther King and other civil rights workers. I still remember the sinking feeling in my heart watching the protesters being attacked by water hoses and vicious police dogs as they marched to bring about our civil rights. Many of you know the history.

I attended an integrated school from 6th grade till I graduated H.S. Those were not pleasant years because of the discrimination I experienced. I could relate lots of stories, but my post would be too long.

Where am I going with this? Well, because of an African American vying for the highest office in the land, and because of the racism demonstrated at McCain/Palin rallies, and on certain blogs, the actions of these racists brought back the memories of long ago. I thought we had come a long way since then. Instead of letting the actions of these people get me down, I decided to work harder to help elect Barack. I came to realize that those who were the most vocal about their negativity against Obama were the ones who must feel inferior about their lot in life - the ignorant, the unintelligent, the uneducated. They must harbor and demonstrate their anger and racism to make themselves feel superior - a black people are the ones they target the most.

To be honest, we have come a long way, however, because I truly believe that Barack Obama will become our next POTUS - the first black POTUS! The fact that so many whites support him has allowed my spirit to Soar......The fact that he is an inspiration to foster unity among all is what I have witnessed. I'm proud to say that I have supported him since the beginning and will be among the proudest in the nation to see him as our President. You see, I support him, not because of his skin color, but because of his qualifications. The fact that he is black is a bonus.

I'm proud to be a part of history. I'm proud to have lived to witness the work and speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King. I'm proud of Barack Hussein Obama!God bless Obama, family and the U.S.A

I was so happy to vote for Barack this morning. As a veteran of the civil rights movement, voting this morning meant so much to me. All of the sacrifices that people have made are now being manifested in the possible election of the first AA president. I am so grateful that I am alive to bear witness and to participate in such a historical event.

I voted this morning at 6:45 am. I told my husband I wish my grandfater was here to see this moment. He was a precint captain in Chicago. He talked to me about politics since I was little girl and taught us the importance of voting. At that time I found it very boring, but I have voted in every election since I was 18 years old. He passwed away two years ago at 94. I am now 33 and I carried him with me on this historic day. It was so cute my nine year old son called me at 9:30 am to ask me who won the election. I told him we have to wait until tonight, but we are setting an example for them.

I voted last week for Senator Obama. I am a US Army veteran, 54 years old and the father of 4. My 3 voting age children and my wife all Voted for Obama. I am one proud father. I strongly believe Obama is the right person, at the right time. He makes me proud to be an American again. He has the right ideas and the strength of vision we need. His moral charachter is above reproach. His refusal to take the low road shames me. In my time, he is the most inspirational leader I have seen. Today, I have high hopes that my children will have a future in a better world then we have today. I am a white man. I have donated my money to this outstanding man; today I spent 5 hours knocking on doors in the rain. To me, I had no other choice. I had to do something. I have never been politically involved before. I will always be involved from now on. Thanks for asking.

I voted this morning around 7:50 am.i stood in the line for over 2 hours, but the people in the line was so nice that it fely like a few minutes. the turn oue for young AA men was amazing...there were lots of young woman there too including myself. i have not been able to give much, but i always gave 5 or 10 dollars when ever i could. This election means the world to me on so many different levels. i often think about my grandfather, who himself never got an education, but worked his butt of so his children and grandchildren could. I only hope that Barack will win and change america for ever...for the GOOD!

I am volunteering from Canada -- I have US and Canadian citizenship and I will never forget the experience, the privilege of being able to phone and talk to voters in America and encourage them to vote. The most meaningful part of the process was hearing why people want to vote for Obama, the hopes they have for him and the changes that will come when everyone works together. I am unable to vote as I left the US before I got a Social Security Number (age 12) so some of the people I talked to said they will be thinking of me when they vote today. I told the people I contacted that their vote counts for all of us, all over the world. The actions of the President of the US have an effect on everyone in the world and each US citizens' vote is a very precious responsibility. Volunteering as a phone canvasser was a wonderful experience -- it meant so much to me, even more so because I couldn't vote. I will work to get my Social Security Number (an incredibly arduous process unfortunately) so I'll be able to vote next time. And I will sign up to phone voters next time as well -- because I was phoning from home it was helpful to read the blogs and watch the videos -- so inspirational! Now that I know how important and satisfying it is to be a volunteer, you can count on me!

I love Barack Obama and what he stands for. I am so proud to have been able to vote for him a few weeks ago by mail. I live in Kennewick Wa and that's how we do it here. I would have loved to stand in all the lines that people are standing in. I have never felt this strongly for a candidate before. I am 55 years old and this is the first time I have ever felt this way. I am also white if that makes a difference, it sure doesn't to me, but I know it does for some people.

I have been a supporter from day one with Barack, and had some pretty bad feeling for Hillary Clinton, but those have gone away because I feel the way she came and joined Barack was so admirable, and I love her now too.

So keep praying that our wonderful Barack will win tonight and I feel so bad that Grandma Toot couldn't hang on one more day, but I think she knew it was his time.

I voted for Obama last week with an absentee ballot from here on Cape Cod, MA so I could hold OBAMA signs at the polls during election day. Here in MA we have also been going to NH to help add NH to the all blue New England states. I've been 6 times.

My last active presidential campaign was for McGovern, a few years after being in the Peace Corps. "Don't blame us we're from Massachusetts" we said when NIXON was impeached. We were the ONLY state to vote for McGovern. Nixon (no military credentials) called McGovern, the WW 2 bomber pilot, a 'wimp' and said he was soft on Communism. He invented the "Southern Strategy" making the Republicans the all white party. (Sound familiar?).

"This defining moment"...as our next POTUS would say, has changed my life forever.
Never again will I be passive concerning the political process. I will continue to read, do the research, investigate and base my conclusions on the facts and the truth regardless of the opinions of others.
Never again will I be fooled by the superficial, charasmatic surface of a thing...I will look at the fruit, the results, and look for consistencies that align with integrity and honor and truth.
Never again will I underestimate the power of a single voice...my own voice...when spoken with conviction, compassion and purpose, my voice resonates beyond my hearing and has the ability to uplift, encourage and help to heal.
Never again will I have to wonder if my son will truly have the opportunity to live the American dream; I now know that he will be able to live the American dream if he is willing to do his part to realize it, it will be his.
Never again will my circle of prayer be limited to what was once my own, immediate circle of influence. My circle has been expanded beyond borders and beyond the people that I see in my daily life. My circle has been expanded and is wrapped around this world.

when I was 18 I joined the service because I had come over from Saudi Arabia (my father was Saudi and and my mother American)anyhow I had so much pride in this country, the freedom of speach, the unity of all people and religions...etc. lately, I have been ashamed of my country from arrogantly invading other countires, to taking a better then others attitude with the UN, to the non partriotic patriot act, to the poor representation of Bush as our leader he is so dumb and he thinks he knows it all the worst combination. As an Arab American even as a vet I have felt criticized and humiliated. Obama represents intelligence, fairness and ethics returning to this county. I can actually hold my head up high again as an American should I be so lucky to travel to Europe again. Add to that us progressing as a country and keeping up in issue of energy and globan citzenship and I am so optimistic about our future, I didn't think that I could feel this way again. Wow, I have hope.

As the polls start to close on the east coast, I am hopeful that when ordinary people come together extraordinary things happen. This campaign has truly been an extraordinary event. I know that I am an ordinary person who has been able to commit as much as I can to help others make extraordinary things happen.

I have witnessed the extraordinary people involved with this campaign and I have been amazed at the commitment that all have shown. What a joy this has been.

I wll keep my fingers crossed for the outcome of this race. I will keep my fingers crossed for the future of this country. I will hope for our collective experience will be lifted by the enlightenment of this movement.

I have had such a wonderful experience being a part of this campaign. Reading the blogs and emails have become a daily part of my life, I won't know what to do. Being a member of the Obama Prayer Team as brought joy to my heart that I can't express. I feel I have a greater extended family-my Obama family. This is my first time ever being involved in politics. Barack Obama has inspired me to reach out from myself in new ways. I truly admire him and the way this campaign has been run with dignity and honor. Its been a great ride and now we're about to step into our new destination of hope turning into change!

It makes me weep for joy. It makes my patriotic spirit soar. I am 52 year old white woman. My 84 year old white mama and 23 year old white daughter all feel the same. My mom had heart surgery a week ago, and she and her sister voted today. Daughter running a fever, she voted. Wish it was a swing state vote -- it aint -- but it was the sweetest vote I have ever cast. My whole happy democratic family voted.

I was raised to hate racism. This is such a wonderful day. A wonderful wonderful day. Wish my dad was alive to see it.

This is going to change the world. I love you all. I am beside myself.

This means the world to me. We've had decades of the politics of division and defeat. Now we've seen it is possible to change that to something better. I did not vote for Barack because he is a Democrat or because he has Kansas ancestry, I voted for him because he is clearly the very best choice. Sadly, he has been the best choice we have had over the past forty years. Maybe, just maybe, Barack has taught our nation that we can do better and going forward, eight years from now, the politics of the future will continue to take hold. That's my hope.

This historic moment to me signifies a chance to begin erasing the stain upon our history of bigotry, hatred and racism. I have never been so excited over a Presidential election as I have been this one - it is something I will never forget. I worked to get my family on board with Barack and they all reported in to me this evening that they had voted for him. I will never forget how hard everyone has worked making calls, blogging(being first), fundraising, debate watch parties and the rallies. I feel like it's been a whirlwind of excitement and what a ride it's been. Thanks to all of you for helping make history and tonight let's cross the finish line together.

I have never been more excited about anything in my entire life. This moment is HUGE. Barack Obama will unite us as only he can. I LOVE Barack Obama for his wisdom, stability, great heart, wonderful mind, faithfulness,and for his fantastic wife and kids. I have never loved a candidate before. EVER. In fact, I believe that never before in this country have so many millions of people loved and revered a candidate as we do Barack Obama. There is something special afoot here. As a long journey is coming to an end I feel a little melancholy...
I still remember the cold day back in January I walked through London reading all over the newspapers how Obama had won the first couple of primaries.
It just feels like such a long time ago...

This is history... I keep imagining what all those great people like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King would say and feel right now...

I am in Texas, and we tried hard.
I become disappointed in my own state, then worried as the other side gets triple digits.

Did I do enough? I realize that this is it...tomorrow there will be nothing we can do to make the election come out differently. Panic nips at me.

And then, they call it.
He's done it.
We've done it.
The relief is overwhelming, and I think of his family and all the families.... all the responsibility.

Meanwhile,
I leave the study at last
to hear the sound of running water
splashing water
the dogs' water bowl I began to refill
sometime in the last administration
has been full and overflowing

My Mom calls, crying and happy. We cry together,

To me this is a day I can look at all my children and say they all can become president too.. I have a mixed child..and for years I've prayed a day would come that I could honestly say his color won't stand in his way of becoming anything he sets his mind too...It's the first step to racial prejudice freedom..I am so proud happy- frankly, it is indescribable and I will always remember this day and so will my children...Finally there is hope and faith restored in America - BE Proud of Being AMERICAN

I am proud that we Americans have elected our first Black president. I am glad the Bush regime is ending. I am sad that the Gay community is losing ground at the same time. We have supported the Black community and President Elect Obama in achieving this milestone. But I am worried they won't do the same for us in marriage equality.

I was too overcome and speechless last night to write anything meaningful. I went to bed with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye and woke up the same way.

It's sinking in that WE DID IT. We reached the tipping point in America and did the right thing by electing the BEST possible choice for our President. The color of his skin made no difference. He will be the best possible choice to lead us off the wrong track and onto the right one for the country. All the power of the negative attacks and powerful special interests couldn't overcome WE THE PEOPLE!

Thank you all - the phone bankers, the canvassers, the people who continually donated to the fund raising efforts - everyone who gave in the only way they could whatever that may have been. I am especially grateful to the Obama Family bloggers who were there every day to help lift spirits when times were tough or to put things into perspective. I know I felt more comfortable reading current events from their words and perspective rather than watching any news program.

I also want to thank the Obama and Biden families for their sacrifice for their country - I know they will work their hardest to turn things around. And I also know, this time, we will all be there to help them.

I know they will keep this blog going - for input and continued support. You all have been like an extended family and I am so humbled and appreciative to be able to share this victory with all of you.

My 11 year old son rode his bike a couple of miles so he could 'vote' for his hero, Obama. We were so proud. But then he wanted to do more, so he biked back to the polls with a friend and got him to 'vote' as well.

We are absolutely thrilled to support you still. Please keep us informed in how we can best help you to mend our country.

Before my wife became ill, I saw BO on stage at the 2004 DNC convention. I said to her that he will be the next president in 2008.

9 spinal sugeries, 2 experimental implants, and then none succeding with her pain. Couple this with triple bypass in 2005, left my wife a zombie to me.

While this was going on, my son lost his house to the mortgage crisis, and leaving with 2 kid's in the dead of an Illinois winter.

Include my wife's mental hospitalization 5 times since then, and no way to pay for it.

We as a family, entered a DARK zone of our lives.

Right now, my wife is either spending time with one of my step-kids, or just gets too out of hand, and sleeps in either the train station, or my / our truck.

20 + years ago, I never saw this coming!

Health care is out of reach for most of us just getting up everyday, and doing our jobs.

I have spent countless months in talking, emailing, and calling everyone I can, to make a change. This happened last night!

Today,I reached out to one of my friend's / McCain supporters, and one that I have not only been at odds with during the past months, but friends with for 20 some years.

He refused to shake my hand !

I guess that I / we have work to do to heal this country!

Life-time conservative 71 year old Republican woman, never thought I'd vote Democrat ticket!
When Rush Limbaugh started Operation Chaos last spring, telling Republicans to vote for Hillary, it made me angry.

Began logging-on Obama'08 blog warning them about the danger, and soon became friendly with the fellow Obama folks.
I felt like one of the supporters, donating to his campaign, rooting for Obama throughout the primaries.

After Barack Obama won the Primary, and became the party nominee, I became a full-time supporter,

Just looking at the images bring tears to my eyes. I still can't believe it. It is so sureal to see a black African American as a president, America, we must be proud that change has come and it is seen through President Elect Barack Obama. I supported Mr. Obama beyond race, because I honestly believe he cares about the people and cares about their opinion and will put the people opinion in to consideration before reacting. One thing I must make clear is the fact that many people claim President elect Obama has socialistic values. He might hold these beliefs economic wise to stimulate the economy, however, as many Americans don't realize that USA is already capitalistic socialistic government. The government is already involved in many aspects of our lives. President Bush was the most socialistic president we have had so far in so many issues. However, I hope that we as Americans overcome our differences and truly come together to change our country to a positive direction. Yes we did, and Yes we can get out of this economic crisis with the help of the people and our new President Elect Barack Obama.

This is a wonderful moment to be alive-- but I did not give my time and my energy to this Movement to make a historical statement. The poetry of this election is that Senator Obama is the first American President of African descent. The prose of this election is that Senator Obama is the right man, with the right mind at the right moment with the best chance of getting our Country out of these many messes. And the awesome beauty (to me) of this election, is that we elected the RIGHT person for the job for a change.

What to say about the fact that we were successful? Goodness! There is a part of me that still cannot quite believe it. (Yet -- it IS true!)

God Bless my great Country and all of you for leaving behind all of the fears to embrace hope and possibility once again!!!

I am so happy with the outcome of the election. I have cried tears of joy for 2 days. I live in SC so I have to listen to all the racist gargage. When some one starts I just walk away. I learned years ago you can't fix stupid. I believe President Obama will go down in history as one of our best presidents.
