Just a question but does Barack Obama support a 2 state solution between Israel and Palestine. I do not believe that anyone should support the giving away of Israel's land in the name of peace. This is the land of Israel. I supported Bush until I found out that he is pushing a 2 state solution. Anyone who is a Christian should know that the land of Israel is not to be given away.

I am an ardent supporter of Israel - but I think the people of Israel deserve to live in peace -
They deserve to live without suicide bombing and missil attacks
that will require a 2 state solution - the current situation is untenable in the long run.
But I do not think the Israelis should cede any territory absent a peaceful Palestinian government, and a full treaty and recognition by the larger Arab and Muslim world.

To patronize AIPAC, and to do so without even a remark about the occupation, illegal land grabbing, illegal apartheid wall, dehumanization, racism, bulldozing homes, bulldozing olive trees, bulldozing other crops, grabbing water resources, destroying palestinian infrastructure, implementing countless roadblocks designed more for harassment than security, targeted assassinations, etc, etc, is really something I didn't expect from Barack Obama. Israel is an apartheid state and Obama know's exactly what Israel is about, but he's a coward to not call it what it is.
Before a friendly Zionist sympathizer jumps on my case with the "anti-Semite" label, please allow me to say I'm a 61 year old Sephardic Jew, and I can assure you that there is more criticism of Israel's hateful and racist policies inside Israel than in the United States. And, no thanks, I'm not a "self-hating Jew", I'm a Justice Loving Jew. Barack Obama should not offer Israel his unconditional support. He's patronizing AIPAC for money support, while doing an obvious CYA, so AIPAC won't set out to ruin his run for the presidency. Israel has been enjoying blind support and tax dollars from American citizens for too long. We have become complicit with Israel's policies.

Hi John from Venice,
Thanks for a great response. You are a legend!!!!
Yes we can – Seeking change for the President’s position on Israel and Palestine

1. The significance of the Palestinian-Israeli-Arab conflict
I have great hope in Barack Obama. I like so many was moved by the magnitude of his election as the President of United States of America. I will never forget the tears coming down from Jesse Jackson’s eyes at the announcement of Barack’s victory and the joy of seeing the Obama and Biden family coming together on the stage a symbol of the new future for America. However, Obama despite his messianic qualities is a mortal and must still be held accountable for his political positions. Yes, even though many of us just want to focus on the positives and celebrate his win - we still need to continue to be grounded in the humanity of the man. One position that Barack needs to be questioned on his position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Sadly, from my perspective Barack Obama (1) seriously underestimates the detrimental impact that US relations to Israel and the occupied Palestinian people has on the global Islamic community (2) fails to appreciate the link between terrorism and the failure to resolve this conflict and (3) fails to acknowledge the link between US bias towards Israel and the perpetuation of the conflict.
2. US bias towards Israel destabilizes the region and the globe
The United States can be both a friend of Israel and the Palestinians people, a strong supporter of the Jewish Israeli, Palestinian Israeli and Palestinian people. However, on the international stage all that people hear and see is that the United States is a friend of Israel.
The United States continues to arm Israel and vote in support of Israel at the United Nations despite her failure to follow UN General Security Council Resolutions, despite Israel’s 41 year old occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, Israel’s support of settlement expansions, killings of Palestinians and internationals, fragmentation of Palestinian land, building of a barrier often beyond the Green Line, failure to respond to the ...

Israel has no right to commit ethnic cleansing |

First of all, the Democratic Party is not traditionally the party for feverish extremist views. Ethnic cleansing in Judaism's or Christianity's cause is not something America, or at least, the Democrats should defend. That said, there are two alternatives. Israel can include the territories considered Palestinian into its borders, and recognize Palestinians as Israeli citizens with rights to vote and property...OR they can go with a two-state solution.
What Israel cannot do is to bulldoze Palestinian homes, persecute them, and kill them in the name of building settlements to house Jewish migrants from Brooklyn and the such.

John, I am extremely saddened by your blog. Can I suggest you read the following book by Elias Chacour - it is called Blood Brothers. Father Chacour is a Galilelan, just like the man who I know you have dedicated your life to. However, Father Chacour as a Palestinian Israeli Christian sees the conflict in a very different way to you. Please read his story.

Please also read my letter to the Australian Prime Minister as well as some blogs I have written as part of my MAsters thesis on this conflict. It shows important historical information you need to be aware of before you make such damaging and dangerous comments as your blog displays.

President Obama will only further undermine the United States security as well as countries like my own - Australia- by failing to encourage the United States to be seen as an honest broker in the Middle East.
