...I'm a social dork. I want some advice on how I can put my skills to use helping this campagin. Since I live in Virginia, I figure that would mean going to Pennsylvania for something, but I don't know what.
I have volunteered for local races in VA in 2003 and 2005, I went to Iowa for Dean in 2004, and I phonebanked for MoveOn from DC in 2006. And the one thing I have learned over all that time is that I will never, ever be good at butting into other people's lives and convincing them to do something. I cannot stand unsolicited phone calls or visitors to my home, and so even as many times as I have done it, I have never been comfortable at it, and I am no good at it.
However, I am smart, and I'm not afraid to work hard. I am a great problem solver and adapt to new situations quickly. In past volunteer work, I've enjoyed things like planning out driving/walking routes for those who were going to walk precincts. I've helped to produce and run A/V for appearances, and in my real-life experience, I have organized a great many large events (all-day concerts mostly) which required the coordination of dozens of different factors coming together at the same time.
I have tried both calling and emaiing the campagin, but I haven't gotten a response yet. I know everyone is very busy, but I also know that if I find the right place to go, that I can really help out.
So, does anyone have any suggestions for me?
