Over the years four veterans that called themselves "Brothers from another Mother" had remained just that.They always kept in touch and though miles separated them,they were able to get together several times .Four years ago,Tom passed away 2 months before they were to meet at our home in VA.
It was decided the closest to Texas would attend the funeral representing all 3 brothers..and besides that, being the youngest,he was the fittest.Remember,years have passed and they realized each time they lay eyes on each other is a blessing.The reunion should not be postponed.

What a joy it was for me,and our grown kids to
gather round this loving group .They spent 3 glorious days together.After the first day we left
them alone, to sit around the Dining table sharing memories and photos.I cooked,served and quietly observed as they joined hands in prayer, remembering the 'other brother'.
Twenty months later Dick died,he was the oldest.
Ed,'the kid' attended because Richard,my hubby,
legs don't hold up for lengthy travel,like they once did.
The two boys,brothers,just got off the phone.The call that's made on Veterans Day.
I've heard their promise to each other.The families know and you can surmise.
I want those who come here with hate in their hearts to know that this is how our veterans love each other.It transcends politics,race and religion.

Snakes are generally misunderstood. Humans are not on the food chain of even the most poisonous ones. But they slink about on the ground, so some folks fear them.

I come here today to tell you of a new snake in our great union. Introduced here by third-world operatives. Funny thing about this snake - he walks upright. I kid you not. Has legs. No guts - but legs.

His name is JOE LIEBERMAN. He sound be considered armed and dangerous. He is a traitor. Lives in Connecticut and lives on piles of money left in his trash can by insurance executives. Well I presume they use runners. Joe the snake craws out just before dawn and gets the stash.

Snakes, even the Eastern Diamond Back which we have here in Florida, will not strike a human unless threatened. As I understand it, the rich cats at the insurance giants called Joe back to Connecticut and told him in certain terms - do nothing to make us less rich. If you do, you won’t get yours.

So Joe goes on TV and tells the wonderful worms (related) at Fox that HE will prevent a vote on health care unless HE (and Fox, and the insurance boys) like the bill. Trust me they won’t.

Joe - get set to take a seat “around the corner” at all future committee meetings - because you are about to be striped of all Democrat credentials.

Joe, you stink. Literally. You are less than a man. Well - we already have established you are a snake. Doing it for the good folks? HA My new crusade will be to reveal the amount of money you take from insurance companies. Below the table also. There are ways Joey. We call them snitches. They are getting in line. Better though that you be eaten by a larger snake. There to be digested in the tummy.

That would be all except for a story which just hit my Blackberry. Old man Murdoch of News Corp - Fox News - says he wants to be paid by Google for any story brought up about his children on any Google search. Google of course is not going to give him a cent. The reporter (bless him) asked the big M why he didn’t just remove Fox from Google - which he can do tomorrow. M turned ashen, coughed, and said maybe he will. That’s the boy. I would love to Google without Fox items. Actually few make it now - but why have any?

I am trying to imagine how a Republican gets ready to make a pronouncement “That the Health Care Reform bill simply is more big government spending”. We have all heard each of them - with a straight face - make that statement. Is it drugs? Do they take a few hits before going out in public? Does Tom Delay still run things from Texas - with a gun to their heads? OR Is it just plain old-fashioned stupidity? Has to be one or a combination thereof.

Ah.................Mr and Mrs and Ms Republican - YOU are the big spenders in Washington. The proof is there. Have you already forgotten 2000 - 2006? Well, have you? No, No, GOP that old dog simply is sound asleep and will definitely NOT hunt.

Update New York. the right, financed by Fox and hyped by Fox. The 23ed Congressional District of NY. The tea baggers were out in force. Sean Hannity flat-out said Hoffman’s victory was signed, sealed, and delivered. Palin, Beck, and the Drugster were there. They all prepared for the big takeover by the wing-nuts. WELL dumb-butts - it did not happen did it? The Democrat candidate won !!!!!!!!!!!! Shall I repeat that Sean?

So, tea party goers. put away the tea and return to the hard stuff. You have fooled absolutely no one. Oh yes, the 20% hate everything, including Black folks, will continue to make noise. Let them. Meanwhile Obama and company will continue to blaze past them - leaving dirt in their mouths. But they have tea to wash it down. :)

The GOP: Opposed Social Security - but do you hear any of them in either chamber calling for elimination? Opposed the integration of schools in 1954. Opposed Medicare - but again all they need to is refuse payment. ????????????? I’m not hearing anything. Oh yes, let us not forget they opposed the right for women to vote. They even opposed putting round tires on cars - thought square tires were the way to go.

The GOP: Motto: “WE ARE 100% OPPOSED TO IT”. IT? Doesn’t matter, it’s an automatic response.

By the way righties - how is your new Bible coming? The one which removes all references to things you disagree with. The addition of whole new passages. The inspired word of God? or the uninspired word of kooks. It is to go on sale in January. For those who think this a joke - it is not. A group of right-wing preachers are actually planning it. The faithful await the New Word.

I Will Not Support Health Reform That Includes The Following!

UPDATE: New Health Care Bill Drafted by House of Representatives Filled with Psycho/Pharma Industry Agenda

Information: The newly-forged 1990-page “Affordable Health Care for America Act” (HR 3962) offered by the House of Representatives is filled with mental health provisions intended to prop up psychiatry as well as the pharmaceutical industry with billions in future income. Key mental health components of this House bill:

MOTHERS Act
The bill includes the language of the MOTHERS Act, to “expand treatment for postpartum conditions” and calls for the development of “improved screening and diagnostic techniques,” but makes no provisions to ensure any entities doing such research are free from conflicts of interest or pharmaceutical funding. For example, Screening for Mental Health, Inc., and its sub-organization Signs of Suicide, who heavily promote and conduct mental health screening, received $4,985,925 from pharmaceutical companies prior to 2008, and ten leading psychiatric researchers have been exposed in the last year for failing to disclose millions of dollars in pharmaceutical payments. Despite their conflicts of interest and biased research, many pharma funded psychiatrists and researchers have been used by so-called advocacy groups (Screening for Mental Health, NAMI, etc which are also heavily funded by Pharma) to promote the need for federal laws that will only increase the number of Americans being needlessly targeted for psychiatric treatment and drugged. Yet this bill contains no provisions for full disclosure of conflicts of interest for any “entity” that could receive federal taxpayer funded grants, do research or promotional campaigns – such as the provision in the bill calling for a national PR campaign using TV, radio public and other public service announcements to urge women be screened and seek treatment for postpartum depression. The bill also calls for “clinical research” for the development of new treatments (drugs), but again, no guidelines for ensuring that any researchers/research entities are free from pharmaceutical funding or conflicts of interest. Section 2529, Page 1418

Mental Health Parity
The bill mandates Mental Health Parity, or equal insurance coverage for mental disorders as what are covered for physical diseases, whether under their regular health insurance or whether a person gets their new coverage through the Health Insurance Exchange. Psychiatric patients are traditionally “cured” when their insurance benefits run out. In this bill, those benefits never run out. Considering there are no medical tests to verify the existence of any psychiatric disorder, and without anything other than a psychiatrist’s opinion about whether or not the person’s “illness” is “cured,” this legislation becomes nothing more than taxpayer funded billions to the psycho/pharmaceutical industry who will continue their jihad of mass drugging of Americans. This provision could easily encompass all 374 diagnoses in psychiatry’s diagnostic manual, covering everything from Phase of Life Problem to Arithmetic Disorder. Section 214, Page 100

Home Visitation Programs for Families with Young Children or Families Expecting Children
The bill creates a home visitation program for families with young children or which are expecting children or who have certain “risk factors.” The program provides assessments regarding matters of “age appropriate behaviors,” for children, prevention of family violence and referral to outside services. – Section 1904, Page 1177

School Based Health Clinics
The bill includes funding for School Based Health Clinics that will include subjective psychiatric mental health screening (called mental health assessments) of children, and “referral to a continuum of services including emergency psychiatric care, community support programs, inpatient care, and outpatient programs” as part of their “comprehensive primary health services.” This is a direct feeder line for the psycho/pharmaceutical industry directly into our schools. – Section 2511, Page 1352

Wellness Program Grants for small employers
The grants in the bill serve as an incentive for employers to include “mental health” as part of the Wellness Program Grants to businesses. Part of the program entails a “Behavioral Change Component” that encourages “healthy living through counseling” and may include programs relating to “tobacco use, obesity, stress management, depression and mental health.” – Section 112, Page 67

Federally Qualified Behavioral Health Centers
The bill creates new “Federally Qualified Behavioral Health Centers” and in order for existing community mental health centers to qualify, they have to provide, among other things, “mental health screening, assessment, and diagnosis,” as well as “outpatient clinic mental health services, including screening, assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapy and medication,” in addition to “crisis mental health services including 24-hour mobile crisis teams.” - Section 2513, Page 1367

There was a time so-called “conservatives” just caused me to shake my head in disbelief. There were also times I got a bit angry. Now my only emotion is amusement. I say only emotion - but that is not completely true. The amusement is too often followed by disbelief and anger.

I have more about conservatives, but I must digress. The media. They have gone far beyond reason. They, particularly the cable talkers, perhaps passed that line long ago - but making today’s races in New Jersey and Virginia a referendum on Barack Obama is “making news in a bottle”. It also is a slap across the faces of the residents of those states - indicating they have no idea that they are voting for governors. Listen up media. They are voting for governors. They are voting for governors. This election is no more about Obama than it is about how I should treat my prostate cancer. Poor media. They are still trying to rebound from the great balloon chase. Not one “thinking” human believed that piece of foil with a small amount of helium could carry even a 50 pound child. When caught - the media called for the scalp of the father. And mother. Take the kids and place them in a wonderful foster home. NUTS. I actually think America needs more families who don’t stick their heads in the sand and try to “look like every other person”. Yes they may have cost the stupid sheriff’s department a dime or two - but it was they who were hooked by the bait. What the media needs is another “beautiful” white woman - preferably pregnant - to disappear. (Note I did not say GO MISSING).

Oh well - back to the conservatives. According to the institution mentioned in the last paragraph - conservatives woke up last Thursday morning and concluded the government is “too large”. Now understand, a great amount of that “getting bigger” was accomplished under a conservative administration. Hello???

Too large. At what point does a government become “TOO” large? Is there an unpublished formula? When George Washington presided over the government - I presume the government was small. However, “large” is a relative term. As the population increased, and more states were added, I am fairly certain the government would become larger. It would have more members of Congress. It would need more money. As time marched on - the government - grew. Son of a *****, I would never have guessed. BUT we crossed over to too large last Thursday. Fact: According to a Gallop poll - virtually no-one knows what conservatism actually is. Today’s conservatives fall into a group who “just say no”. No health care reform. No, to whatever policy Obama is for. No to equal rights and protections - AS STATED IN THE CONSTITUTION! NO - the climate is not warming; and we don’t need all those Polar Bears. The water flowing from the great ice-fields is not really water. Conservatives believe granny Sarah Palin should lead the free world. I can see Russia from my house. Where do you believe Putin goes when he REARS HIS HEAD? Why he comes to Alaska of course. And I am still looking for a way for a human to REAR one’s head. What does that mean?

FOX, IS IT NEWS?

Journalist Jeff Greenfield responded to the ongoing battle from the media this week, when reporting, that the FOX NEW’S DEPARTMENT is being accused of being the research and communication’s arm of the Republican Party. He also says that “. . . Fox’s bottom-line has increased 13% since Obama came into office. So perhaps they are crying all the way to the bank”.

Obama accuses Fox News as appearing “to be more like a talk show format and not a news format”.

There is no question that the Rupert Murdoch owned conglomeration’s opinions predominately favor the far Right Republican agenda. So when the White House decides not to give more fuel to Fox’s perceived negativity and refuses to be on their programs, is this an exercise of free speech? On the other hand, is it an exercise in futility? The points of views coming from the White House will be interpreted as the voice of the Obama Administration no matter what the administration representative says when they appear on FOX. Being fair however, MSNBC has been called the most left in their presentation of Obama’s opinions. So to whom do we listen for the “true news story”? Nevertheless, who would that be?

Where do we find a news source that is truly balanced? Personally, I find I have to listen to them all and weigh what seems “logical”, but I was taught in journalism school and at the LA TIMES that politics are highly hinged in “manipulating emotions and the illusion”.

Life is always full of surprises. Two months ago I was informed my husband has Stage 4 Cancer. His life expectancy is between one and six months. My husband worked delivering newspapers at the Ground Zero Area before and after the disaster. Three years ago he had skin cancer removed from his face. Due to No Insurance this went undiagnosed for a long time. The skin cancer appeared almost as soon as he become disabled and stopped working in 2003. My Husband began his career delivering newspapers to the offices in the World Trade Center in 1973, he is also a Veteran.

I have been married to him half of my life. We have raised our three children together. I am so angry over his impending death. I feel so ashamed at myself for believing our Government that the Ground Zero Area was safe for workers to return. I am furious over the lack of Special Services available to former area workers for Ground Zero. He told me the dust was so thick it effected his vision and slowed down. I washed his clothes everyday to get rid of the smell. I encouraged him to return to work and forge a living for us. Now I am helping him to prepare to die. Here is a letter I have emailed to Senator Bob Casey. Whether or not I receive any help is a mystery.

Dear Senator Casey:

Three years ago my husband had skin cancer removed from his face. My husband was a worker from the Ground Zero area in New York City. He had always delivered the New York Daily News to the Twin Towers and continued to service the area after the disaster. My husband became disabled in 2003 and stopped working. He was collecting a Veterans Pension for a couple of years before Social Security declared him disabled and awarded him full Social Security Disability Payments. I had contacted you when this Pension was terminated because the Veterans Administration wanted reimbursement of six months of benefits- We paid the $6700 from money awarded through Social Security. My husband was stationed in Germany during 1970-1972 and has an honorable discharge. He is from a family of Veterans: 2 brothers & a Father who served in WWII.

Currently my husband is in Stage 4 preparing to die from cancer. There is no Chemo that will help him. There is no cure since he was diagnosed with this in August 2009. His body is riddled with tumors including giant tumors in his lungs. I still do not know how I will pay his medical bills and afford to give him the Funeral he wants. I am asking for help from your office- 4 yrs ago I attempted to sign up for the Medical watch group in New York for 9-11 workers. I missed the sign up date by one day.

It seems so unfair we were told the air was safe & the workers should return. The dust was so thick my husband couldn’t see thus slowing his delivers. His clothes reeked of foul odor - I washed them every day! I sent off to work - I encouraged him to move forward and provide a living for us. I now must have the courage of my decisions and ask for financial help during this most difficult time.

Rush, when you go on radio, which YOU insist on having on video each day, and openly make fun of those suffering from Parkinson’s - you gave up any right to complain about anything. So just waddle over to the mirror and you will see a poor excuse for a human.

My Aunt has had Parkinson’s for several years, and daily fights the battle. She, as did millions, saw and heard your rant about Parkinson's. You Rush, are responsible for sending her into a deep depression. AND neither you not any defender can deny what you said and how you threw your body around - imitating a Parkinson's patient.

Now someone claims you made a statement about slavery. You say you never said it. FINE Rush. I don’t need anything other than the Parkinson’s incident to dislike you on every level. I heard and saw it. This one you will never deny. You are a pathetic excuse for a human.

As for the St. Louis Rams - I could not care less. I lived in STL for 30 years. They deserve you.

Human Rights & Health Care Reform

Hello:

My name is Dr. Julien Arbor and I have an Acquired Brain Injury that was the result of such over-the-top medical malpractice and human rights violations that it is inconceivable to me that such a thing would occur in the United States!

A bit about my background:

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in Health Psychology, experience in evaluating and working with patients with TBI, a Wellness Counselor, a Natural Healing Consultant, a Researcher, an Author, and a 7 year Volunteer Health Educator & Moderator for one of the largest natural health websites on the internet.

I am also currently disabled and dealing with the challenges of a form of TBI known as an Acquired Brain Injury. The circumstances surrounding the development of my ABI have provided a tremendous opportunity to conduct extensive research that indicates that the psychiatric diagnosis of PTSD is actually a form of an Acquired Brain Injury that results from an acute and severe metabolic disruption that is brought about purely by extreme and traumatic stress. I have done an extensive review of the scientific literature and also gathered data for the past year and will be completing a single case research study as soon as I have undergone my own treatment and rehabilitation that will allow me return to work.

There is already considerable research that demonstrates changes in brain structure in those who have been diagnosed with PTSD. However, this will be the first study that provides quantitative evidence that suggests that it is an underlying metabolic disruption following extreme and traumatic stress that results in damage to the brain. Furthermore, this research also points to treatments that will successfully address the symptoms, halt their progression and also suggests a means of preventing this condition from developing.

This research will also suggest an explanation for connections between a diagnosis of PTSD &/or TBI and a growing number of life-altering, chronic and costly health conditions that are highly correlated later in life such as depression, emotional challenges, hypoglycemia, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, epilepsy, headaches, migraines, chronic pain, sleep disturbances, debilitating fatigue, sensory changes, aggressive behavior, weight problems, skin conditions, hormonal imbalances, sexual dysfunction, respiratory problems, cognitive and memory impairments, substance abuse, skin conditions, balance and gait disturbances, increased susceptibility to infection and cancer. This will point to a large number of additional areas for research as a follow up to this study.

I am also devising a safe, natural, effective and cost-efficient treatment protocol that is a truly holistic integration of mind-body medicine in order to address the underlying metabolic dysfunction as well as address the resulting brain damage.

Global Warming & Politics ?

Anyone, and I doubt there is, who has actually read any of my near three hundred posts, knows that I get confused easily. I could recite a long list of things which have confused me over the years. I could, but I am confused as to what the items were.

I awoke this morning wondering why conservatives don’t much like Polar Bears. That confuses me. I happen to love all animals - and I particularly fancy the big white bears. I have yet to have an up close and personal relationship with one, but there is hope. Now, as to being confused, why is being a bear offensive to the political right? The average Polar bear did not ask to be a bear. They could as easily have come back as a Fox News anchor. (Yes I definitely believe in reincarnation). But thankfully they are large, beautiful bears who harm no one. Unlike a Fox News anchor. All most Polar bears desire is a large chunk of ice upon which to call home. The problem is, the Earth is getting warmer. We and the bears know this, because those formerly large pieces of ice are now tiny. Large became small due to melting. Melting occurs when the temperature warms. How much more straight forward do wing-nuts need?

Sean Hannity insists that we will soon be in another ice-age. Sean studied religion not science - and there are a few thousand Polar bears who may not be able to wait. Sean does not like bears, Polar or otherwise, and has no love for any creature with more than two legs. (Thank you Lord for not letting me go down that path and letting me get back to the point).

The point was, and is, what does global warming have to do with politics? Why do liberals believe the Earth is warming and conservatives believe it is getting colder? To this I suggest going to Seattle - get on one of those cruise boats and go north. The captain will deliver you to a spot where you can see ice melting. The clue is that streams of water can be seen flowing FROM atop the ice. Seasonal? True that the stream may turn to a drip at certain period, but the stream will return. There is by far less ice now than a few years back. Melting. Conservatives note the word. Melting. While on the boat, if lucky, you might see a Polar bear clinging to a hunk of ice smaller than the bear.

I used the Polar bear as an example. Seems sufficiently simple that even the folks who prance about calling themselves “conservative” might understand. Rush went on one of those boats. They had to limit the number of passengers to compensate for the Limbaugh blubber. I digress again. Rush saw the water flow and pontificated. He believes Al Gore was up on that ice with a hair dryer. “NO, no way is that ice melting on its own” proclaimed the drugster. Rush. The expert. Rush - the people of Cape Girardeau, Missouri remember Rush. Someone wanted to rename the Cape high school as Limbaugh High, There was a town-meeting. They did not rename the school.

Rush now wants to plant himself in St. Louis. For those not familiar with that part of our country - Cape G is about 50 miles south of STL. He wants to go home.

Now we all know why I get confused. I can’t stay on topic. Polar bear = Rush? No way. Those bears know where they are wanted. I am going to stop. Here.

Hold the trolly. I need an answer to a serious question. “EVEN if one finds his or her self not subscribing to the “water freezes at 32 degrees F” fact - how can limiting the release of toxic gases into the atmosphere be good? Why not do the good thing - then in the unlikely event there is another ice-age; no harm no foul. Doing good is good in itself.

The health “insurance” companies are showing their true colors. They now threaten all of us - that they will raise our premiums substantially - if they don’t get their way 100% on any health care reform. We all know these companies are not going to give up any profits. They have thrown the ball back into our court, and all of us must again play it.

As I a writing this, United HC has refused to cover a newborn because the infant weights a little too much. Please if you have not done so, go to

You will see first hand how the companies routinely refuse to assist in saving lives.

There are thousands of examples amid millions of cases where YOUR insurance company has just said no. They need no reason. Just say no.

Now the trade association, America’s Health Insurance Plans, has taken up the cause to maintain the 5 million average annual salaries + bonuses for the CEOs.

You can guess what for.

The right has really proven - were there ever a doubt - just how unthinking they are. Criticize the President for winning the Nobel prize???? He had nothing at all to do with the process. Yet according to the wing-nuts - President Obama should be impeached for winning. There is dumb and dumber - and now dumbest. I thank my God daily that I was not made a right winger. One positive thing, aside from the actual winning of the prize, is that it makes the point forever solid: “The right-wing nuts are right-wing nuts.”

President Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

Early this morning, it was announced that President Obama had been selected as the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. From the New York Times:

In a stunning surprise, the Nobel Committee announced in Oslo that it has awarded the annual prize to the president “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” The award cited in particular Mr. Obama’s effort to reduce the world’s nuclear arsenal.

“He has created a new international climate,” the committee said.

The announcement, coming extraordinarily early in Mr. Obama’s presidency — less than nine months after he took office as the first African American president — shocked people from Norway to Washington.

The White House had no idea it was coming.

...a senior administration official said in an e-mail message that Mr. Gibbs called the White House shortly before 6 a.m. and woke the president with the news.

“The president was humbled to be selected by the committee,” the official said, without adding anything further.

Mr. Obama made repairing the fractured relations between the United States and the rest of the world a major theme of his campaign for the presidency and since taking office as president, he has pursued a range of policies intended to fulfill that goal. He has vowed to pursue a world without nuclear arms, as he did in a speech in Prague earlier this year, reached out to the Muslim world, delivering a major speech in Cairo in June, and sought to restart peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians.

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the committee said in its citation. “His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”

President Obama is only the third sitting U.S. president to win the award.

I Should Understand

I am about to come to a conclusion that I simply do not understand anything about American culture. I was born here. So were my parents, and their parents. I point that out only to indicate I should understand. I don’t.

Am I correct - we moved into the 21st Century a few years back? I honestly believe we did, but all the evidence seems to say we did not. WE elected the first African-American to be our President. (English teachers will grind their teeth at that sentence). Eleven months after that - racism as practiced in times passed has not changed that much. There is still a core of perhaps 25% of Americans who hold fast to the notion that non-whites simply can not be allotted the same level of respect as the wonderful white man. A large majority of the 25% are non-voters. When they got their teeth in and had someone read to them - they realized a Black man was in charge. Add to this group the so-called Conservatives - and you get Tea Parties. You get folks who insist this...this.....a.....Black man WILL is NOT going to be THEIR leader. No way.

Tea Parties, Birthers, Deathers, and fake town-hall meetings are born. The run of the mill Republican politicians saw this and joined in. The official position of the right and the GOP as stated by several of their leaders:

We will oppose anything this man proposes. We will sit on our hands and be of no assistance on helping right the horrible health-care mess. We will feel quite free to disrespect the American President. Stand in join session and call him a liar. We will attack every move he makes. [These idiots spent two weeks harping because he was away from the WH overnight to help bring the Olympics to America.] Whatever decision the president makes in regard to Afghanistan - we will oppose it. Our motto for as long as a Black man is president will be “just say no”. WE after all are the masters.

I mentioned conservatives. I call them so-called simply because most have no clue as to the real and original meaning of conservatism. Has nation building been a long-time belief of conservatives? NO Was the wild spending of the Bush administration a long-held vision of conservatism? NO Actually, were anyone so inclined to research the subject - one would find today’s conservatism closer to liberal than to conservative.

I will not limit this to berating the GOP and conservatives. Harry Reid could not “lead” a tricycle parade. The Speaker is a lightening rod. She should realize this and, for the good of the House and the president’s agenda, step aside. Lack of leadership in both houses of congress is largely responsible for most of the criticism now being aimed at Barack Obama.

The media. These air-heads are so used to covering people who are basically brain-dead - they don’t know what to think or say about a person of high intellect. Make a decision today Mr. President. Why “think” about it. Pull the trigger. I no longer listen to the pundits. Morning Joe will spend every single moment analyzing Mr. Obama’s every move and statement. He smiles too much, one of the crew said. He walks too fast said another. I really believe we will see hidden cameras in the living quarters at some point. Fox is working on it. Join me in turning them off.

I began by saying I don’t understand anything about American culture. That is a fact. But it pales as to what I don’t understand about the religious right. Have you heard? They are going to publish their own Bible. The one they use now has some passages which displease them. (But they still proclaim the Bible to be inspired by the word of God). So, any line or verse or word which does not support their view of the world will be stricken from the new Bible. Then the pastor’s of the right will hold the Bible, wave it above their head and proclaim it “The Word of God”. This is so stupid, I thought it a joke when I first heard it. Unfortunately it is no joke. Look for the new and improved Bible at local bookshops in March 2010. Expect heavy discounts.

Laila Al-Marayati, MD, will share her experiences of her recent visit to Gaza and will address some of the major political issues that impact the ongoing situation.

Dr. Al-Marayati is the chairperson of Kids in Need of Development, Education and Relief (KinderUSA), a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Palestinian children and their families in Gaza, the West Bank and refugee camps in Lebanon. And on behalf of KinderUSA, she traveled to the Gaza Strip in May of this year where she had the opportunity to witness first hand the degree of destruction caused by the Israeli offensive in December of 2008. She visited with numerous Palestinians who continue to suffer under a regime of collective punishment that targets all members of society including those most vulnerable, children. The effects of the ongoing siege of Gaza combined with the trauma caused by the Israeli attack have imposed serious challenges on Palestinians living in Gaza. Yet their resourcefulness and faith help them survive and endure, hoping against all hope for a better future.

Dr. Al-Marayati has served on the US Commission on International Religious Freedom as an appointee of former President Bill Clinton. She is a practicing obstetrician-gynecologist and is the Medical Director of Women's Health at the Eisner Pediatric and Family Medical Center. She serves as the spokesperson of the Muslim Women's League based in Los Angeles which seeks to strengthen the role of Muslim women in society by disseminating accurate information about Islam and women to Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

Part Five

You had the creepy crawlies when you walked out of the Buck McKeon Saturday 9AM Community Townhall Meeting on Healthcare Reform. Some women left crying and skeptical about the future. You don't see this in any video! You had to hear their comments. I even heard women from Wells Fargo who were hissing mad! "These are selfish nuts and liars", she said. I told her welcome to the club. She asked me if there is "anything that she can do", please call her. I've BCC'd her to this message and will call her later today.

Airing out the healthcare delivery system’s very public and dirty laundry, even FOX was in the house seeking the truth. The event drew some odd fellows. The meeting started late allowing the room to swell with anticipation. Buck often signaled his red shirted ‘referee” and his gray skirted blackberry assistant for background information. He did run the first session 45 minutes longer than scheduled and offered a return meeting for the diehards. Democrats strategically sat throughout the gym instead of in a huge block. Do note if you watch the video most Democrats agreed no insignia wearing, except a few OFA and IBEW members. Unfortunately, Independents, moderate Republicans and Democrats never had command of the mike. Whenever they did they were loudly hissed, cursed, booed, cat-called and even received thunderous stomping on the bleacher. Stomping on the bleachers? Yep, straight out of high school. We knew we were the visiting team. McKeon’s Buckaroos versus the Obama Firedogs. However, they even booed Buck a few times when he asked for civility and “to please be courteous to one another”. I know this ploy, it makes the leader look like he is fully in charge. When he turned beet red, I knew he wasn’t playing. Taking nothing away from Congressional leader Howard P. “Buck” McKeon, he was well coiffed, dressed, pressed and shined. I had never met him in person before. I’d called his office a couple times, sent an email or two. McKeon has a forced grin, amused by some of the outbursts, hid a couple laughs with the microphone, in response to the ridiculous outcries but overall he was pleasant and enjoying himself. Rocking back and forth on his heels, I got the impression he was ready to go after introducing his “lovely wife Pat, mother of six and grandmother of 34”! She was applauded and you heard feminine hoots and “oh my goodness” reverberating across the room. Prior to the opening, she shook hands with some of us in the front rows, she was amicable, polite, an attractive vibrant lady, in great physical condition and looks years younger than Buck. I thought six kids? What is her secret? But one thing everyone agreed on, stop the fraud, exaggerated costs claims, unnecessary medical procedures, pharmaceutical costs, 300% premium increases, clean up the Veteran Hospitals and review tort reform. And these folks don’t want healthcare reform? So I have my job cut out for the rest of the fall . . . I still pray that the 2013 healthcare bill isn't watered down to exclude "public option".

My final analysis: In creating a future of change, I agree it requires talking to neighbors, friends, family and congressional leaders. The future for our American grandchildren will require healthcare reform. If number crunchers have already determined that in another 15 years our healthcare premium costs will be equal to our take home pay, how are we going to live? Not all families have the ability to have two or more breadwinners in one family.

We are in a day and age of automation, why should insurance companies utilize 30% of their costs for administrative needs?

Why should insurance executives make 10 times the average income of the American citizens’ that they are fleecing for corporate jets, penthouses, exorbitant bonus plans, elaborate **** luxury resort motivational seminars, and vacation trysts.

Meantime, your healthcare needs are being minimalized or denied because it will diminish the lifestyles of the stockholders, the insurance executives and their bottomlines.

If the insurance companies were truly honest they would accelerate incentives for illness prevention, better eating habits, exercise programs, promote positive lifestyle choices and encourage physical and mental rest to increase healthy clientele.

Questions we need to ask ourselves is why would someone who has government tax paid Roll Royce insurance belittle you into believing it isn’t important for you to have affordable, adequate, and accessible medical coverage and a decent delivery system. To do otherwise is downright “stupid-headed”. To know this information is not enough! It isn’t political ladies and gentlemen, it is a human need. Don’t just read this. Do something that is an investment in your healthcare future. Fight for healthcare reform.

America the Beautiful?

For all those many months - talking, calling, walking, and writing on behalf of Barack Obama - I refused to let my mind drift to a horrible place - called by a horrible voice. I did not want to go to that place. Had I not been there many times? Were not the sins of my nation - those sins - a thing of the past? Yes. Yes they are I told myself. America is ready to once again teach the world that we are as good as those words written in our Constitution. Election night, Tuesday, November 4, 2008 - I wept along with tens of thousands as President Elect Barack Obama walked to that microphone on a beautiful Chicago night. Yes, America was back.

The joy of the previous evening gave way to sleep. It was not the peaceful sleep I expected. There was that voice again. Deep. Far away. Real.

The newly elected Barack Obama made preparations for a new administration. The thousands of us who visited the Obama web site several times daily began to pursue other activities. Few, if any, of us would be moving to Washington.

During those days between election and January 20, 2009 I made a trip. Not by car, or plane, or train. Not even by walking. No - this was a trip of the mind. I yielded to my weakness. I answered the voice. I visited my and my country’s past. Things were not going the way I anticipated on that recent November night. I expected folks like the Rush Limbaugh’s and the Sean Hannity’s of the world to spew their normal hate. And so they did. There was more. Much more.

The twenty-first century. September 2009. A white congressman comes to his feet to call the American President a liar. In a formal joint session of congress. A white “pastor” openly hopes that Barack Obama get brain cancer and die just like Senator Kennedy. Deathers. Is it even a word? Fed by persons of means and voice - the very same elements of society who were in Selma - and a hundred other places - “way back” in the 1960’s - were going to go back. Back to the place the voice had called me to. But their’s would be a physical trip. Town-hall meetings I believe they are calling their chosen venues.

Tea Parties. Led by Dick Armey - thousands gather to shout in protest at every single action taken and word spoken my the president. The former economic hero of the GOP suddenly believes the government spends too much. If I may inquire Mr. Armey - where were you and your tea parties during the Bush years? Pardon me for answering for you. You were silent. You were nowhere. The president was white. A “good old boy from Texas”.

Isn’t the press wonderful? Don’t they do a marvelous job asking the hard questions? While you are laughing - here is an example. When one of the tea drinkers rants incoherently about the government taking over everything - why would a real journalist not ask the speaker for a few examples. Which government service would he or she cut tomorrow? Know this. It would not be any service which in any way benefited the party goer. Want to give up your Social Security check? How about that new bridge being built which will reduce your drive-time in half to see the grandkids? Medicare? Surely you can do without that! Lord knows you can do without that new school - so your kids can vacate the rat infested one. We know the drill. Cut anything that comes nowhere near me or mine.

And now for the main act. A vast majority of these Deathers, Birthers, and Tea Party goers are not going places or speaking out because they suddenly realized the government is large. What they do realize is the large government is now being led by a Black man - and what a golden opportunity to revisit the 60’s - under cover.

God. I hear much about this entity. I have heard it since I was a month old. Ever wonder what God thinks of all of us? The good pastor who wishes a painful death upon a man because he is not white. Tell us God - is he one of your’s? All those who gather for tea in the name of big government protest. Are these your folks God? The South Carolina member of congress? The hate filled crew at Fox? I of course cannot judge. I will only say that if there is a God in Heaven - and in the unlikely event I should be invited - please tell me there will be no “preachers”. I could do without the Fox crew also. But who am I to make selections or suggestions? Let me answer. I am one American who thought we had crossed the racial divide. I am one American who weeps - that we have not.

Black and Green Folks - Beware

Folks can tell me that the flap over the President’s “s p e e c h’ to a bunch of elementary kids is not about race until their faces turn blue. OR some other color. A lady on my street was taken to some far off planet about ten years ago - spent a year up (or down) there. I may as well speak with her about this. The anti-president folks fall in the same hole. OH, but they won’t admit it - they are Christian folks. Christian folks believe in seeing good in people and assisting those who are in trouble. It goes like this - an actual “sermon” from the pulpit last Sunday : “I HOPE OBABMA GETS BRAIN CANCER AND DIES LIKE KENNEDY”. Isn’t it nice to know that the Christians are in such good hands? My pet snake is more of a Christian.

I know the people. I am thinking of one who represents all the others. She’s a fine Christian lady - never misses a service. She is a known Black hater going back to when I met her at age 24. We are both now 68. Vote? Far too much trouble to go down there and wait in line with “them”. So she is part of that 30% I predict sat out the election - hoping and indeed praying - that The Good Lord (did you know he’s white?? - would prevent a Black man from becoming president.

NO, she would wait until all the little things came along, then manage her 300 pounds down to the meeting to protest. “We can’t have this man coming into our schools and making socialists and God knows what else out of little children. He should stay home.: Unfortunately, she has about thirty grand-kids who you know have had this hate drilled into the since birth.

George Bush was “reading” to students at the moment if 9/11. I don’t recall the outrage. Yes, he was white wasn’t he. Reagan spoke to kids, as did Carter and Clinton.

This is about race. In fact - that 30% is using its surprising “power” (they elect members of our wonderful congress) to undermine this president. Not alone. There were those tens of thousands who hold the feeling a bit closer. But they will come out in groups. Safety in numbers - especially when old Gus has his loaded six-shooter at the ready. If Gus needs help - well their are the morons (by definition) standing around with automatics.

“Don’t you dare make us a socialist country”, they yell. Sit down folks. America IS a socialist nation. Medicare and Medicaid are socialist programs. Wake up before the coffee is cold.

I’ll bet the little green persons from “up there” are watching - on Fox. These numb butts would be the perfect people to “visit”. Little Green Folks - do us all a favor. Come get them and keep them. They can find something on your planet to protest. OH GEZZ, I forgot - they hat green people.

America. What the hell is America? What’t that? “A country on the North American continent”. Well that would be one America. I’m trying to figure which one I reside in. That must be the one - got Canada to the North and Mexico to the South. Russia up at the extreme North-West according to some air-head ex governor.

The America I find myself in contains a majority who don’t give a Tinker’s damn how many folks die from lack of ability to pay medical bills. 30% who hate everyone who is not exactly like them - one tooth and all. Got a Congress with a huge majority of members whose primary task is to dip into other’s pockets and pretend to work.

Today I found - I think they are part of the toothless 30% - who believe the President of the United States must not speak to second grade classes. Brainwashing don’t you know.

Yes, I think I have it figured out - I know where I “live”. Home of the free, land of the brave. Would that be the brave folks who strapped on guns to go to a town-hall meeting? Would that be the free folks who hassled the woman in a wheelchair? Yes - that’s the one.

90% of “My fellow citizens” who happen to have health care don’t care one bit what happens to those who don’t. Too stupid to understand they wind up paying for those who don’t. Yes, that’s us. High school graduates who know what forth graders in other countries know.

Toothless, goobers who put a spoon up their behinds, believing that’t the end one eats with. After all - they spew so much S**** from their mouths - food must go below!

But something is wrong with this picture. The goobers don’t have sufficient brain power to thing for themselves. No - the let Rush do their so-called thinking. Rush Limbaugh - too much of a littoral chicken to serve his country in the military. BUY very much in favor of sending your sons and daughters. They mean nothing to him. Rush is still so high on drugs he hardly knows what he says.”I hope that Black SOB gets killed in his first year”, says Rush.

I have done all I can do. I am ashamed of my country.NO, not my country - just those brain-dead country bumpkin goobers who seem to get their way.

I refuse any more talk. The people I have seen running around at meetings the last 2 months don’t deserve my efforts.

I'm very excited to hear that the only bill with close to 100 co-sponsors will actually see the light of day and be considered by Congress.

Calling on All who voted for the Obama agenda in November to match a mile a day to hand over the torch of the United State to the next persons or groups from where you are, going until we reach whashington in a human chain, to carry the torch of humanity. We are the most prosperous nation in the world, yet there is no recourse for anyone who happen to be in a bind temporarily or not, when they get sick in our nation.

We are a God fearing nation, we profess to be a christian nation, yet the answer to a crying woman who is losing her husband to cancer for lack of insurance from the republicans was " because you are here talking to me, I would be magnanimous enough to make sure you are taken care of, but anyone else can't have the same chance."

He refused to answer her pleas for a universal single payer healthcare, yet he said "he the government" would make sure her husband receives treatment that insurance companies have rationed or denied him.

What our republican speaker was saying was that, he would used his "good office" to extend government money to take care of her husband, but if she got sick herself, then too bad she would have to call him again if he is still in office.

He didn't help her by passing a law that would ensure that she gets treatement as well as all americans in his husband's condition.

He went on to say that the job of helping people belongs to the church which all depend on the taxes we pay, to the government or to the church (donations). In effect, he is putting your life in the hands of those who can only extend their services (arbitrarily)to their frock or friends.

Many people sitting in that audience may have had cases that are worse than that of the weeping lady. Yet if they didn't have the luck to have the microphone, they were not heard, and would not be helped as the lady was promised.

We need to organize and march until the single payer universal healthcare is passed.

HR676 Medicare for All - "Everybody In, Nobody Out"

Over the past few months, I have taken the opportunity to meet other activists that are passionate about healthcare reform at various rallies to support either HR3200 (Obama's Public Option plan) or HR676 (Single Payer or what Obama would prefer "if starting from scratch").

Thus far, the main opposition to HR676 from the public option folks has been that they "don't think it has a chance..." so they "will settle for a public option."

The Single Payer option is alive and well and has sufficient congressional support to merit further discussion. I see no downside to discussing this third option alongside the public and status quo options. However, I have heard little serious discussion in the mainstream media and a general tendency for the media to also portray a "massive opposition" to reform thanks to a few dissidents at meetings.

Meanwhile, at healthcare rallies around the country, thousands of real supporters of healthcare reform have received little airtime to discuss the important aspects of either HR3200 or HR676 in a logical and rational fashion. Instead, the jokers, laughers, yellers, and shouters have made a circus of this opportunity to avoid coverage of the most important legislation in the history of America.

I don't want to see supporters of healthcare reform to get divided on the issue of the public option vs. the single payer since our goals are similar, we want real care and we want it now.

So why am I for HR676 over HR3200? Perhaps it's a lack in faith of free market economics... maybe I don't think the corporate interests will be compassionate enough or that the government will leverage the public option hard enough to be successful. With a Single Payer plan, I have faith that with all people covered, that we can eventually achieve a higher quality of life, through greater preventitive care measures that will lead to better health and cost savings.

How will we pay for it? With 31% of every healthcare dollar going to for-profit insurance companies that have a fiduciary responsibility to earn profits for their shareholders, they have little incentive or responsibility to ensure care. To the contrary, it is more accurate to say they have a responsibility to deny care to increase profit margins so they can ensure a return on investment to their stakeholders. Eliminating this profiteering from the system is essential to improving the ethos of healthcare in the US. No one should profit off of someone else's misery.

We've bailed out the banks, insurance companies, the carmakers... when will we help bail out ourselves to ensure a quality of life in the future through improved healthcare?

Let's FORCE Congress to WORK!

Perhaps you own a business. If not - imagine that you do. Do you, or would you, allow your employees to “work” like our Congress? Probably not. I did not just fall off the truck - so I can take unto account that members of congress do need to get back to their states or districts to “talk with constituents”. I also know that not all work is done on the floor of either chamber. However, I am convinced that members of congress, who are OUR employees - have no one to watch over them. For all I know, my member of congress may sleep until 10:00. Most sessions begin at 10:00 - but virtually no one is there at that time - and on many days at no time! Got a committee meeting. Need to study a piece of legislation. We cannot forget the “vacation” time. Can’t work fifty weeks. How about thirty? And the work-week will be from 10:00am on Tuesdays until noon Thursday. No, we would expect more of our employees - and we or a manager would be around to oversee things.

Let’s take this a step further. You and I own and operate a business which makes those famous widgets. We supply about one-hundred retailers. However, we don’t much care for being around the plant - so we just leave things to run itself. No manager, no one to be responsible - no time clocks. It would be a short time before our customers would be calling. Did not get my supply this week. It seems our employees are working only when they “feel” like it. You get the picture. Wouldn’t you love to know exactly what your senators and members of the house do each day? Is it possible they are sitting in their office - door closed - watching something on TV? Or they may be getting in another round of golf. Who really knows?

We are told our health care system is broken. I know it’s expensive - but it costs about $80 per hour to get our cars worked on. I am not shocked that it would cost more to have my body worked on. Too much? OK, let’s assume it is broken - and we have given the job to congress to repair. Don’t hold your breath. What our 535 employees are doing is behaving like a class of third graders. No one will agree with anyone on anything. The Republicans have taken the position that defeating the president is far more important. They have adopted the position that health care is just fine - so they say NO to everything.

I dream of having the galleries of both chambers filled with congressional supervisors. Make sure all members are present at least 90% of the time. Grade them on how much they contribute to debate. Stop the two hour lunch breaks. I in fact seriously think members should punch-in and out. A report put up on the net so we can all see if our employees are working. Give them deadlines. Have a bill on the president’s desk by close of business November 10th. Failure will result in a new election.

Think about it. Congress is the only group of employees who just simply have no one to report to. Oh yeah, elections. Why are incumbents reelected overwhelmingly? I believe one reason is we just have no idea what they do - so we may as well send them back. Congress - the only group of employees who can fail consistently and get by with it.

Until we assume our role as boss and crack the whip - congress will continue to do absolutely nothing. Why should they?

Good for Barney. Now it’s time (past) for the people who make up this network to go back to work. Let’s face it - many have dropped away.

Health Care in America. I have often said the world economy is too difficult for any human to understand. Right up there with it is health care. So many players - and each team likes to blame the other for the mess. I need to correct myself before going on. America has the best quality health care in the world - but only if one can afford it.

We have medical schools second to no other country. We have outstanding residency programs. Our medical centers are the envy of the world. SO it is not that we can’t offer quality. Our problem is the age-old problem which we see in every walk of life. When those with money need a medical procedure - they likely travel to where the “best” doctor in a particular field is. Most have to settle for Doc X - who may be quite good - but not the best. Need a specialist? Yellow pages?

Then there is the huge group who have no medical insurance or little of it. Hospital Z gives that patient the same attention as any other patient. Well that is a bit of an exaggeration, but everyone knows the score. Then each December I get a notice that my premiums will increase 10% for next year. That hospital must recover its costs or go out of business.

I do have serious questions about just how much a hospital needs to recover. Look at the retained earnings of most and you will find some mighty huge amounts. They say they must have the funds to replace equipment and add the latest. Hospitals compete just the same as auto dealers. A certain hospital in a large mid-west city recently completed a one billion dollar “reconstruction”. Their occupancy rate had fallen to 76% - yet they added 60 beds.

Thank God for the amazing work done by the researchers who work for the “drug companies”. But how many times do they need to recover research and development by selling pills at $50 each? They have the same argument as the hospitals - got to have big money for future research.

Insurance Companies. The enemy. Far too much profit and too much control over the fate of millions of policy holders. Little kid had a bad head injury. Needed an expensive, special made helmet to wear for a year or so. United Health said the helmet was not necessary and refused payment. Happens thousands of times a day. Every dime saved on paying claims = another dime for the mansion.

Yes I made it too simple - but like I said - I don’t think there are many who understand the complex system we have built.

Time to fix it.

Finally - let’s make no mistake here. At least 35% of the citizens of the U. S. hate having an African-American president. I’m not speaking of voters - although some may be. No these are the people like the one who “confronted” Barney Frank. They hide until an issue comes along like health care - then they craw from under the rocks.

Let’s get on the phone - and don’t forget your members of congress. Pump out emails. Talk until you can’t speak. The fate of Barack Obama lies in health care reform. I worked hard for two years helping elect President Obama. I’m not going to let a bunch of hate filled morons defeat me now.

I have found out from a few sources I have, that a Town Hall Meeting will be held in our area. Since the time of the elections, most of us have went off into other directions and I went in the direction of knee-surgery (What a direction right?) Anyway, all of us I'm sure have been paying attention to the debate on healthcare, town hall meetings and the disruption of those meetings, by special interest groups who want to kill the healthcare package.The voice against any form of healthcare has tried to almost drown out, the voices of those who both care about this issue and need this the most. I am a disabled veteren like some of you so I'll always be covered with healthcare any place I go in United States or on any US military base on this planet.My friends, my loved ones and some of you, do not have that luxery of choice and I find that totally unfair and unsatisfactory. If you've been listening to the Democratic party to include the White House, it seems the most important part of the healthcare package, which is the creation of a Government competative agency, to drive down the cost of healthcare with a healthcare agency that mimics the sucess of medicare, Social Security and the Veteran Administration is slowly being taken off the table.We have to let our elected officials know in one loud voice, that we as REAL Americans want a bill, that will cover all Americans and those who can't afford what's currently out there. June 15, 2009: “It’s clear America’s health care system is in crisis. Over 40 million people are without health insurance and costs are skyrocketing. President Obama is right that health care reform is needed now and patient safety should be the top priority.

“Empirically-based practice guidelines, developed by independent experts, is an idea we can support, as long as it does not lower quality or standards of care. Instead, these guidelines should lead to greater patient safety.

“According to the Institute of Medicine, 98,000 people die every year because of medical errors. Eliminating these errors, not further hurting the victims of negligence, is where lawmakers should focus their attention. By taking away the rights of people to hold wrongdoers accountable, the quality of health care will suffer tremendously.

“However, the notion that ‘defensive medicine’ is leading to higher health care costs is not supported by empirical data or academic literature. Recent news reports, CBO and GAO analyses, and statements from administration officials have shown that physicians will over-test and over-treat purely for financial reasons, unrelated to liability concerns.

“Limiting the legal rights of injured patients will do nothing to lower health care costs or aid the uninsured. We will work over the coming weeks and months to educate members of Congress and the administration on how to best protect victims of medical negligence.”

Public Option Opposition: I Hope They're Happy

Not-For-Profit?

Can private insurance companies complete on a level field with a government sponsored program? Now any question about it. Out there in the real world, not-for-profits compete against for-profits every day - very successfully.

I will go out on a limb here ( I used to work out on those very limbs for 30 years) and tell you that not-for-profit hospitals “make more money” than for-profits. The term “make more money is complex. I know personally of many NFP’s whose retained earnings make the FP across the street look like a piggy bank. 501(c)(3) hospitals are “required” to accept a % of CHARITY PATIENTS each year. What they do is simply write-off the uncollectible as charity. It is hardly charity when you have done everything legal and illegal to collect, but cannot.

In many parts of the country, the most popular watering holes are exempt clubs like Moose, VFW, KOC, and many country clubs. Yet the for profits seem to do their share.

Just a s point of clarification - not-for-profit has to do with motive - not what actually comes into the till.

BC/BS can compete very well against the government. Most companies now sell Medicare Advantage accounts - which actually replaces Medicare as primary. I listened to a rep from BC/BS sell my elderly Dad such a policy - and he could not give a single “advantage”. But he sold the policy - because my Dad is 96 and not fully aware.

SO, if some of you believe that competing against the government is unfair - a bit of homework is in order.

With the current coalition in place - it’s now or never for healthcare reform. And if it turns out Not - remember there will be no Medicare. Should make all those anti Socialist’s happy. (As they dig through garbage for a bite to eat).

Our Kids in Congress

THE SCENE:

A FORTH GRADE CLASS, IN ANYTOWN,USA.

Teacher: Now class, we have these five books, which all of you are eager to take home. It will take about 5 days for each of you to fully read and comprehend the very interesting information about Mars. The problem is we only have 14 days of school remaining - and there are 20 of you. Now I am going to step out of the classroom, and I am giving you one hour to come up with a solution to our problem. Remember, it must be a plan which makes all of you happy. See you in one hour.

Nine year olds not capable of making such a plan? Think again. This actually happened last school year in a suburb of Orlando. The kids came up with a remarkable “sharing” arrangement. By the time of the final bell on the final day - everyone of these kids got to spend “sufficient” time reading and looking at the amazing pictures in the book.

Think Washington. 535 elected (plus shadows) members of our ADULT congress - all the time and money they need - and they “the task is just way over their heads”. Can’t do it. The don’t act adult. The don’t act like forth graders. As a matter of fact - observe a loosely run 1st grade - and that will be a mirror of congress.

I don’t like what he said. That bill would cost me votes with my people. REALLY - it makes me want to get aboard the next flight to Washington - get in the gallery - and them these rotten, criminal, lazy bums a piece of my mind. Two things. Congress is on vacation. (number 5 of 10) - and I would just get a night in the D.C. jail.

Where are the VOICES of the left? Talk radio - which I literally run from - and the leftovers from the Atwater School of Dirty Tricks remain. The country is said to be split down the middle. The right has Rush, Sean, Glen, Adam, Laura, Ann and at least one local in every town and village. Spitting out hate 24/7. Now let’s think - who do we have? MSNBC has come somewhat to the rescue - but look for GE to put the claps on that operation sooner rather that later. NBC News is already feeling the extreme heat, So how does Fox continue? We already answered that. They feed off the huge base built for them by aforementioned. Everyone from the right eventually gets ditched. Bill Press can hold his own - but he is doing local radio in California We need voices. MoveOn does a solid job - but they are known only by us - and pounded well into the Earth each day by the wing-nuts.

Fixing healthcare in America is not optional. I heard one questioner ask “where in the Constitution does it say we must have full coverage?” It doesn’t. The founders knew those who followed would take care of problems as the arose. As an insured - I may not be if my rates continue to climb - to cover the cost of paying for those not covered. I would like to get Rush and his team to go to an inner-city ER and spend a few nights. I don’t think they have any idea what goes on. Actually - it does not need to be inner-city. The picture at a “nice” suburban ER will get the point across.

Finally, there is the admitted conflict for-profit insurance carriers have. I could not work in that situation. On the one hand, the owners want every dime of profit they can get. On the other - patients want and need care. Most are there through no fault of their own. Yes, some are. The number of persons over the age of 50 who have no medical insurance is nominal. Layoffs, being dropped because the carrier “felt like dropping them”, pre-conditions. There are the real reason these people use the ER.

Congress vs. forth graders. It really is that simple.

Got the Job

I interviewed for the job last Friday. I start on Monday. I get benefits, including health insurance. I haven't had health insurance in years. Just because I'll have it doesn't mean that I'll stop fighting for universal coverage via a public option. I promise that I will never be someone who smugly sits back and says "I've got mine. Go get yours."

MEDICAL REFORM FOR UNINSURED, UNEMPLOYED, UNDERPAID, UNHEALTHY AND UNHEARD (U5) IS A MUST!

As a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, specializing in the Medical Corps, it is appalling to hear and read about individual opinions that voice or link caring for “We the People” as an excessive cost.

The United States of America must be revitalized and health of her citizens is an excellent place to start. Unsure of all the “buzz, buzz, buzz” floating from select sides of the congressional aisles, tag teaming with select media reporters; whatever the drama is about frankly is unprofessional and irrelevant, however the fact of the matter remains, people are unhealthy, uninsured, unemployed and to date have been unheard. Now is the time to turn all negatives into positives.

Having served my country at a cost of my life and time during Operation Iraqi Freedom and 9/11 the least I can do now is help to serve the people of my state, city, community and neighborhood by working with my President and Commander-in-Chief to ensure people are restored back to a healthier state. Failure to resolve the unhealthy status and maintain a healthy status makes rebuilding a country that has crashed due to poor leadership and guidance into the worse economic catastrophe in history, a waste of time.

Without the contributions of individual people skills at all levels, the United States of America would not be recognized as the most respected country in the world, though many beg to differ with the characteristic of ‘most respected’. It is among the noted super powers still standing, rather weak or strong economy, given the economic downfall as of today. Who cares what the cost is to get people healthy and keep them healthy when we need every able body in this country to contribute their knowledge and expertise to restoration of a broken government that led to the crash in the first place.

Totally sick and disabled people cannot work if they are 100% unemployable due to health reasons. An unemployable person cannot be fixed due to a permanent unhealthy status. There are people that are temporarily unhealthy not by choice, but by virtue of not having medical/dental care coverage. At whatever cost now, we need to fix it now. The amount of debt that this country is in has nothing to do with people who are sick. Of all the countries I have travelled or been assigned, the United States treats its citizens really poorly when it comes to providing health care services and dental care services. This country simply has the right to refuse service to a US born citizen, even if they are terminally ill. Many people have died from terminal diseases that could have survived longer had they been diagnosed sooner. But the right of refusal was authorized by our government to give that power to the hospital, clinic or specialized medical facility. Any patron who sought medical assistance if not insured was refused period.

It is a rather barbaric, ruthless and uncivilized practice to treat a citizen in need of medical attention, dental attention or other help from a place that represents the “Red Cross”. Whoever endorses this belief that it would cost people too much to save a life, and maintain the healthy status of a human being is evil and selfish. I have seen my military peers die from illnesses and injuries resulting from wartime and peacetime service to this country. Some argue that is different; a life or a limb should not be measured with a cost similar to bailing out banks, CEOs and Wall Street. Banks would not have money, CEOs would not have a company and Wall Street would not have investment funds if it were not for people.

It is ironic how cost plays a role in the decision-making process evolved around people getting medical/dental attention. People, who are against medical reform without an alternative solution that will help all, really cannot hear theirselves squander about issues that affect others. Congress really cannot see beyond the walls of the White House or the linings of their suits if they are against medical reform or any reform that will help “We the People”.

It is easy for an individual who has been in a position for so long to lose touch with reality simply because they truly do not listen or associate themselves with all their constituents. Many members of Congress only receive reports from individuals that tell them what they want to hear (filtered), or they may accidentally fall upon the truth (unplugged) and choose to edit the information into a format that makes them look good. The truth of the matter is what sounds good and looks good does not come across as an accuracy that will help the people who are facing a dilemma. Congress tends to fail many of the constituents who need their help the most, and frankly, this office needs to be reformed. Somewhere in the political process, the legislative branch became a corporation that has outsourced certain obligations concerning constituents to a “Black Hole” circle that never gets the life of resolution resuscitated into issues.

In some cases select Members of Congress have gone against any policy, principal, value or belief that involves helping individuals obtain a better posture in an economy, built by design, to cater and be servants to the upper “crust” of the spectrum.

History has a continuous cycle of showing its ugly face through those that are in positions of influence, rather it is at the level of state agencies or local agencies. Look at who is running the local agencies and you will figure out where the influence lies. It has nothing to do with knowledge or education, but rather a network of influence that is responsible for the destruction of this country and the lack of diversity in the workplaces. The terms ‘over-qualified’ and ‘not-qualified’ has a whole new definition when you go to the above mentioned places for services by hired ‘qualified’ people in places that play an important role in the life of others. However, that ugly face has created a complicated system that makes it extremely difficult for individuals/families struggling to make their life better.

The boogey clubs, clothes, money, power, position and overall life of the rich and famous tends to change the depth of one’s peripheral vision. Perhaps the solution to medical reformation as demanded by “We the People” is based on a resolution that requires a reduction in each state representative’s incentive package voting against helping get medical care and dental care for constituents. If select Members of Congress are against helping us low-class folk because of cost, then the Majority Leader and followers should take a massive pay cut, since many feel they are overpaid anyway.

Members of Congress get better benefits and wages than military veterans. Congress need to experience what it is like to live in an economy they designed, endorsed and trying to keep it as they created it. What would this country be like if Members of Congress had to live off the wages and benefits (incentive package) they created for the rest of the US citizens not living in the upper “crust”? Education is not affordable for parents raising their children on minimum wages; therefore the cycle is more likely to repeat itself. Leadership by our President is required in order to break the greed-corruption cycle and to get help to the needy. Failure to lead has resulted in burning records, no records, no system and pure “hip-pocket” responses.

Medical Reform will guarantee that the assistance gets down to the potential patient at all levels. Otherwise, the current system will be like funding, trailers and supplies stored in ‘lost accounts’ and warehouses for uses other than what they were ‘ear-marked’/defined for, getting to Hurricane Katrina victims and the “Big Easy”.

The Medical Reform is a much needed part of rebuilding this country. As a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom it is past time to start serving the numerous Americans suffering in my country without question, debate or reservation. Now that I have served my country during wartime and peacetime, I am ready to serve/support the people of my community with whatever service including benefits that they lack to have a normal life, spiraling from poor or no medical benefit package. Many of my peers have died for this country; why not provide Medical benefits to the uninsured who are U.S. citizens, now! What is patriotism? Why do we say or use to say the "Pledge of Allegiance"? What principles was this country built upon? What does this country represent today? What is treason? Where does your loyalty rests and what is it based upon?

"We the People" including leadership, should freely open our mind when making decisions concerning the welfare of other's livelihood when we knowingly/unknowingly see there is a need of an individual, born in this country, who is less fortunate on this land, the United States of America. - n. roberson

Town-Hall Meetings (Lord help Us)

I forced myself to “sit” through Sen. Specter’s town-hall meeting. One thing was apparent. Some of the participants read two or three pages of the House bill, and asked questions pertaining to those pages out of context. Certainly there are provisions in the House bill which are going to need “washing” by the Senate. The bottom line from the town-hall: No one changed anyone’s mind about anything.

I implore President Obama to find a way to get sufficient TV time to do a sit down with his own advisors and representatives from the various groups protesting various provisions. I would also like to see folks like the CEO’s of some insurance companies, hospitals, the AMA present. How much good would come from it? Little. But at least the President will have stood his ground and faced the opposition.

The reason little would come from it, is that person’s positions on healthcare are carved in stone. The only people with any real interest are the uninsured - and far from all of them are concerned. I know a family - father 56, mother 55 - empty nest. They refuse to purchase health insurance (he is eligible under a county coop) because the have been using the ER for thirty years with no problem at all. Oh they get threats from time to time - but have avoided bankruptcy. They brag that “I” pay his bills. Indeed I do.

When viewing or listening one of these meetings one always wishes they were present to respond. When these folks bounce the term Medicare and Medicaid around - because they are Socialistic - I would simply invite them to pull out. Don’t want it - don’t take it. Yes you will continue to pay.

A Primer on the Details of Health Care Reform

WASHINGTON — With the debate over the future of health care now shifted from Capitol Hill to town halls, supporters and critics of the Democrats’ legislative proposals are polishing their sound bites and sharpening their attack lines.
Increasingly, the battle looks like a presidential contest, with expensive advertising campaigns and Internet-driven efforts to mobilize local support. It can be difficult to sort fact from fiction, as angry protesters denounce the legislation at raucous public forums.
President Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress have made the health care overhaul their top priority, putting their political futures on the line. Democrats had hoped to spend the month whipping up support for the legislation, but instead find themselves on the defensive, responding to what Mr. Obama describes as “outlandish rumors” spread by critics.
Many Republicans view fighting the president as a smart political strategy, turning a potentially wonkish debate over Medicare reimbursement rates and subsidies for the uninsured into an ideological battle over the government’s role in health care.
Each side hopes to win ground by boiling down one of the most complex policy discussions in history into digestible nuggets. For beachside viewers who might be more interested in iced-tea service than fee-for-service, here is a guide to the main fight points.
KEEP IT OR LOSE IT?
Mr. Obama has said repeatedly, as he told the American Medical Association in June: “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what."
These assurances reflect an aspiration, but may not be literally true or enforceable.
The legislation does not require insurers or employers to continue offering the health benefits they now provide. The House bill sets detailed standards for “acceptable health care coverage,” which would define “essential benefits” and permissible co-payments. Employers that already offer insurance would have five years to bring their plans into compliance with the new federal standards.
The Senate health committee bill goes somewhat further by offering an “option to retain current insurance coverage.
”The legislation could have significant implications for individuals who have bought coverage on their own. Their policies might be exempted from the new standards, but the coverage might not be viable for long because insurers could not add benefits or enroll additional people in noncompliant policies. Dallas L. Salisbury, president of the Employee Benefit Research Institute, a private nonpartisan group, said: “The president and Democrats in Congress are saying what they would like. Their promises may not be literally true because your health plan may change, and your doctor may no longer accept your insurance.”
SOCIALIZED MEDICINE Or Uniquely American?
Republicans harshly criticize Democratic proposals to create a government-run insurance plan, or public option, to compete with private insurers. Republicans say the public plan would drive insurers out of business and lead to “socialized medicine” or a government takeover of health care. Democrats say they want a “uniquely American” system with public and private elements. For now, the Republican criticism seems overblown. Major versions of the legislation all rely heavily on a continuation of private health plans, offered by employers and by insurance companies, subject to sweeping new federal regulations. Whether a public plan would crowd out private insurers depends on details yet to be decided, including its premiums and its payment rates for health care providers.
The public plan is not even a certainty. To win bipartisan support for the overhaul, some Democrats have proposed private nonprofit health care cooperatives, instead of a public plan, to compete with private insurers. The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that, under the House bill, the number of people with employer-sponsored insurance would climb to 162 million in 2016, which is 3 million more than expected under current law. Further, it said, enrollment in the proposed public plan might total 11 million, far lower than estimates cited by Republicans. An additional 10 million people, most of them now uninsured, would enroll in Medicaid, the budget office said.
At any rate, the federal government already holds sway over the health care system through Medicare, Medicaid and various insurance programs for children, veterans, military personnel and other federal employees. The federal government will account for 35 percent of the expected $2.5 trillion in health spending this year, and that does not include subsidies built into the tax code.
BLAMING INSURERS Or Ensuring Blame?
Democrats have unleashed a blistering attack on private health insurers as they try to convince the vast majority of Americans who already have coverage that the current system is tilted in favor of corporate profits, not patients, and that insurers are a main obstacle to passing legislation.
Insurers say they support some of the most important Democratic proposals, including a ban on denying coverage or charging higher premiums based on pre-existing medical conditions.The insurance industry does oppose a government-run insurance plan and could eventually mobilize against the overhaul. But insurers appear to be less of an obstacle than public apprehension over such sweeping change and skittishness among lawmakers, including centrist Democrats from Republican-leaning districts.Most Americans do not know the full cost of their employer-sponsored insurance. And it is easier for Democrats to paint insurers as greedy than to explain the complex math that shows current health care spending is unsustainable.
DEFICIT-NEUTRAL Or Budget-Buster?
Mr. Obama has avoided dictating specific provisions of health care legislation. But he has insisted that the bill not add to the federal debt, leading Democrats to say that the overhaul will be “deficit neutral,” with the roughly $1 trillion, 10-year cost to be offset by reduced spending or new taxes. The Congressional Budget Office has yet to issue cost estimates for the latest versions of the bill approved by three House committees. But it has warned that the legislation “would probably generate substantial increases in federal budget deficits” beyond 2019, in part because health costs are rising faster than the rate of inflation and proposed new taxes would not keep up. Republicans use those warnings to cast doubt on the claim by Mr. Obama that the legislation will “bend the cost curve” by slowing the growth of health spending in the long term. Democrats say the overhaul will lead to savings that cannot be calculated under budgeting rules.
At this point, it is difficult to know who is right. Over the next 10 years, the budget office said, the House bill would “result in a net increase in the federal budget deficit of $239 billion,” partly because of an increase in Medicare spending to avert sharp cuts in payments to doctors scheduled to occur under existing law. House Democrats say the higher doctor payments should not count in the cost because they fix a problem that predates the Obama administration and Democratic control of Congress.
EUTHANASIA And Abortion
Conservative critics say the legislation could limit end-of-life care and even encourage euthanasia. Moreover, some assert, it would require people to draw up plans saying how they want to die.These concerns appear to be unfounded. AARP, the lobby for older Americans, says, “The rumors out there are flat-out lies.” The House bill would provide Medicare coverage for optional consultations with doctors who advise patients on life-sustaining treatment and “end-of-life services,” including hospice care. The legislation instructs Medicare officials to propose ways to measure the quality of end-of-life care. Doctors would have financial incentives to report data on such care to the government.
On abortion, the situation is more complex. Opponents of abortion, like the National Right to Life Committee, say the legislation would use tax dollars to subsidize insurance that could cover abortion.Under a bill approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, health plans, including the new government insurance plan, could choose to cover abortion. But they generally could not use federal money to pay for the procedure and instead would have to use money from the premiums paid by beneficiaries.
Douglas D. Johnson, legislative director of the National Right to Life Committee, said, “Under either the Senate bill or the House bill, the federal government would run a huge system of subsidizing elective abortion.
”Representative Diana DeGette, Democrat of Colorado, said the bill would keep current restrictions on the use of federal money for abortion, but “would not expand the prohibitions, as many Republicans want to do.”
CUTTING MEDICAREOr Preserving It?
To help finance coverage for the uninsured, Congress would squeeze huge savings out of Medicare, the program for older Americans and the disabled. These savings would pay nearly 40 percent of the bills’ cost.
The legislation would trim Medicare payments for most services, as an incentive for hospitals and other health care providers to become more efficient. The providers make a plausible case that the cutbacks could inadvertently reduce beneficiaries’ access to some types of care.
The Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, said Democrats would make “massive cuts to Medicare to pay for more government-run health care.” Mr. Obama told AARP last month, “Nobody is talking about reducing Medicare benefits.” All the savings, he said, would come from measures to “eliminate waste and inefficiency in Medicare.” As an example, he cited duplicative tests ordered by different doctors for the same patient. But some proposals could affect beneficiaries. The major bills in Congress would cut more than $150 billion over 10 years from federal payments to private health plans that care for more than 10 million Medicare beneficiaries.

Why is the right-wing supporting the insurance companies? Big business wants a public option as much as the people who lost jobs during the Bush administration. And it's not even "single payer... it's just an option. (The) Right is supposed to be about the right to choose what you want, but you can't if you have no choice!

The little guy in the rental unit is being fooled by the right, which is looking like it's been bought by the insurance companies. He's gonna get sick and cost everyone a lot of money when he goes to the ER. And if the right doesn't help the left a little, anyone may become him.

WOW what a country!!

We worked for two years to elect Barack Obama as our President. Our work was successful. In our excitement with victory, we forgot another thing we had done.

We caused the defeat of those who like to call themselves “conservatives”. (The fact is - as reported by the Washington Times - yes the Times; not the Post - only 1 in 5,000 can come close to defining modern conservatism). Regardless - this group of citizens led by Rush, Sean, Glen, Laura, and Ann, just cannot loose. Recall the hate that began in 1991? Rush: “Chelsea is the ugliest kid in America”.

When defeated at the polls, the wing-nuts (I didn’t invent the term) drive the bus directly over the cliff. It was President Eisenhower who in 1954 told the nation it must deal with healthcare. 55 years ago. All those “leaders” who have come and gone - yet not one had the courage to take on the largest issue ever. Not one until Barack Obama.

What is he and the nation getting in return? You see the news; I don’t really have to say much. The wingers are throwing every untruth they can dream up at anyone who dares support healthcare reform. Now they are even bussing in groups to disrupt folks who want to discuss the problem. They have theirs - and Damn anyone who does not.

The irony is they can’t seem to grasp the fact that they/we all wind up paying for those who have not. Many are on Medicare. Medicare will be out of business in twenty years or before. Yet they will not listen. Will not talk. Name-calling. Fighting. That’s their game.

The country as a united people, and the people as many individuals stand to benefit from the public option that is being opposed by the insurance companies and their dupes.

Is it the world or just America? “IT” being the wave of idiocy we are witnessing. When the Nuts of the right lost the White House to Bill Clinton - they went completely off their nut. Remember the hate? Rush: “Chelsea is the ugliest kid in America”. The Clintons’ had committed many murders. On and on. Day after day. Hillary’s cow purchase. Whitewater. Led ironically by Rush, they spent eight years having nothing to do each day but get up and see how hight they could raise the blood pressure. One large, dumb group of looneys then. AND NOW? “They are backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk”

Nothing else need be said about the truly mental defectives making up those two groups. I guarantee the average IQ to be in the moron class.

Then there is the “We will agree with nothing this President says, does,or proposes. Never”. Real fine example of the loyal opposition. Same deal. Right wing nuts just completely drive off the cliff when the lose. Must be inborn. Inbred.

I was born and raised, to 18, in a state which can claim a majority of its “folks” belong to the groups discussed. Due to having parents who saw the light early - I was able to get out. I have not been in the state for many years - but let me absolutely assure you of this: Ride up and down the highways and into the “living areas” of this state today - and you will find a huge majority who are Deathers and Birthers. Also that someone with a darker skin tone has no rights in America. Not even in 2009.

They are led - in the literal since - by Rush, Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, etc. No newspapers. No internet. Just Rush. They know one thing - hate. HATE if a person is of color. HATE if a person is not So. Baptist. HATE if someone worked hard and made more that $50,000. HATE anyone different in any single way. At this hour they are being rounded up by the GOP groups who take them to various town-hall meetings to disrupt.

So here we are. No, even after the election I knew it was going to get extremely ugly. Been there - seen that. Now the groups who who would never have voted for Obama are answering the call of the so-called “regular Republicans” to preach and yell hate.

In the coming months and years, we who made this network into what it became are going to be called upon to put our positions into action. What do we do when we see some “person” being chased by TV crews tell us the government is out to kill us? Smile?

Takes more friends. I am ready to come back here full-time and go where necessary. I am prepared to shed blood should someone demand to extract it.

Some things never change. Haven’t we all heard that all our lives? I sometimes wondered what the “some things” were. As time as passed, I now have at least a clue as to what most o f them are.

I don’t eat Big Mac’s anymore. Great sandwich – but some say not healthy. Is anything? But I did have one a few weeks ago – and by golly – it had not changed. Kids still love to jump water puddles. Dogs still rule humans.

I have reinforced what I already knew in the last three months: Folks, especially politicians never change. They hate to lose. They will do just about anything to get even.

Republicans. Lord I remember those long summer evening talks on the front porch (I had not input – I was just a fixture) of my parent’s Republicans friends saying exactly the same thing they are saying today. “Can’t trust those tax and spend Democrats”

Fast-forward forty years. Barack Obama is the newly elected Democrat. The GOP is beside itself with anger and frustration. They are a part which now points to people like Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Mitt Romney – and a cast of 10’s – as their leaders. If Sarah Palin is not the dumbest public official I have ever known of – well, disregard. She is the dumbest.

Now, the Republicans just cannot get on board with this very special President. Their decision? JUST SAY NO. No Barack don’t speak with the enemy. No Barack please just let the economy slide. No Barack don’t try to cover everyone with quality health-care. No Barack, don’t get a dog. NO, NO Barack. You might look good and WE can’t have that.

I do now honestly believe that members of congress, both houses, who identify as Republicans – have adopted Rush’s position: THEY HOPE AMERICA FAILS. It is pitiful to see John McCain toddle to a microphone to denounce the man who dared beat him.

Republicans do not disagree on principle. Hell, they have had no principle since ………………. I forget. Small government? Nope, we have the congress from 2000 to 2006 that defeats that silly slogan. Socialists? Let any Republican sponsor a bill to abolish Social Security. My TV is new – I would surly have heard it. Health care? Only if the drug companies are fully protected. Keep the government out of our lives? No, they want into the bedrooms.

So they chip away. Chip, as in chip. American’s want everything yesterday. W Bush took eight years of misgovernment and lies to dig his huge hole. Now we hear rumblings that the independents believe the Obama Administration should have every thing fixed.

Hey GOP: Don’t hate America. Don’t hope we fail. Join in. Help. It will feel odd at first, but you might come to like it.

As many of you know we have yet another election coming up next year. What you may not know is that the race for the 6th Congressional District in Colorado is probably the single most important campaign for the entire state. Why? It's simple the person currently holding that seat is Mike Coffman. Now for anyone that was involved with the campaign last year you know exactly how bad of an individual Coffman truly is for the State of Colorado. After the pruging of the voter lists, and running for higher office while being the guardian of fair elections for the entire state, Mr. Coffman has since gone on to attack our Governor and the President on many key issues, from the Pinon Canyon issue for the Gov. and Afghanistan for the Pres.

That introduction being finished I would like to introduce you to a candidate in CD6. His name is John Flerlage and he is a 22 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I don't think I can do anymore justice to John then do use his own words so I have inlcuded them below:

John Flerlage is currently an airline captain who served 22 years in the Marine Corps before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Marine Reserve in 2000. Over his eleven active-duty years and eleven years in the Reserves, John flew the F/A-18 Hornet and A-4 Skyhawk. He also served in various Squadron and Group level leadership and staff positions and taught classes in world affairs, strategic commitments and the operation of fighters and other tactical aircraft at the Marine aviation advanced tactics school. During his reserve years, John also volunteered and flew missions in support of NATO operations in Bosnia, and in 1996, he was chosen to fly the Hornet aboard the USS George Washington in the first Marine Reserve carrier qualifications to be held in over fifteen years.

In January, 1995, in anticipation of retiring from the Marine Reserve, John and his family settled in Littleton, CO, and since then, John has been readying himself to serve again, this time as the Representative from Colorado's 6th Congressional District. To prepare for his candidacy, John has been active in local (Jefferson County) politics, serving at the precinct (PCP) and house district level (Treasurer HD 28). He has also volunteered countless hours on local, congressional, and presidential campaigns.

John is currently a member of the leadership team of a start-up group called South JeffCo Democrats, and cites his election as an Obama delegate, first at his precinct caucus, followed by the Jefferson County, CD 6 and the Colorado State Conventions and Assemblies, as confirmation of his desire to pursue a political career.

While a freshman at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, John joined the Marine Corps officer training program in 1977. He earned a BA in mathematics from Colby College in 1980, and furthered his education by graduating from the Air Force Air War College in 2001.

John was born in Boston on January 29, 1958, and lived in Massachusetts, Maine, Virginia, Florida, Texas, Arizona and California during his school and Marine Corps years. He and his wife, Helena, moved from old Littleton in Arapahoe County to their home in south Jefferson County in 1997. He has volunteered regularly at the schools of his three children: David (21), who graduated from Columbine High School and now attends Columbia University; Lisa (16), currently a sophomore at Columbine; and Karl (11). John played varsity hockey throughout high school and college and continues to play on a local adult team. He particularly enjoys coaching hockey, at all age levels, including a stint as the high school coach at Columbine. John is also on the Governor's Council for Physical Fitness and believes strongly in proper fitness and nutrition for children especially in our schools.

As an airline pilot, John is a member of the Air Line Pilots Association and flies long haul international flights for the largest airline in the world, Delta Air Lines. He has had the great fortune to visit many countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America, affording him unique insight as a candidate for Congress.

For the most part I have become a regular viewer of MSNBC. Somehow CNN just has not been the same under current ownership. Now comes the happenings in Iran. As they do each weekend – MS simply closes up on Friday nights and pretends nothing is ever worth their time on weekends. This after spending all week making new of Miss California. I am not about to tune in Fox, so that leaves CNN.

Now I realize many will believe CNN’s Iran coverage over Friday and through the weekend was over done. I fully disagree. True none of us including CNN – as they were careful to point out – can be clear as to where all the Twitter reports were coming from. However, CNN appeared to go to great lengths to confirm as much as possible.

How totally nuts. However - if that is what they want, then have at it. Senator McCain would have thousands of Americans hot footing it over to join in the blood bath. Hello??? If the educated folks of Iran can not throw these nut caes out - then fight. Lose this one, then in 2020 they can do it again.

I strongly support President Obama's three principles for real health care reform and urge you to do so too. Any plan Congress passes must reduce health care costs, guarantee choice – including a public insurance option – and ensure quality care for every American.

If President Obama's healthcare plan gets changed to exclude a public option like Medicare, then it is not real healthcare reform. Real healthcare reform depends on whether the American public is allowed to choose a universally available public option or not. If we are allowed to choose a Medicare-like option, the healthcare bill will bring true healthcare reform. It will ensure choice, competition and will reduce costs.

One reason given for opposing a public option is that private insurance companies won't be able to compete in the marketplace if we have a strong public option.

But why should we deny people the right to get healthcare through a public option like Medicare just to put corporate profits ahead of people’s health?

If we're denied a public option, we won't achieve real healthcare reform at all. It's time to stand up to the special interests and enact real reform that includes a public option.

THE AIRHEAD MEDIA

It must be a very tough job running a twenty-four hour, seven days per week news channel. Actually we can remove “must be”. These folks prove it every single second they are on the air. And that would be always.

Never mind the seventh grade grammatical errors made by the “journalists”. Sorry seventh-graders; that was an unfair shot. Now - for all waiting to attack my grammar. I would only point out that I am no journalist. I am not paid the big bucks to write and speak. English. I also happen to like fragments. How about that sentence, or non-sentence in technical correctness, begun with “And?”

I digress. It is not grammar I wish to discuss. That would involve an entire blog unto itself. Drive slow.

No, the point of this rant will be the relentless search for topics. I like MSNBC – but have you noticed how they simply close for business at 11:00pm each Friday? (Just to be fair, they now are doing a little on Saturday mornings). For the most part however – there shall be no “news” on weekends. They dig through the barrels all week to find something – anything to babble about. I have this vision of someone walking into the room at 11:00. “OK, folks. That’s it for another week. We will be running Lockup and the Life and Times of Brooke Shields”. Seems they rerun those two in order to drive people mad. Over, and over and over. BUT!! 6:00am Monday – there is news again. Rejoice.

CNN and that other one don’t let weekends disrupt them. In the case of “that other one” – they exist in a constant state of disruption. F.. F….. Fo…..OH HELL – Fox.

Saturday morning. Ironically MSNBC is on. I did so much want to watch killers and rapists mingling around a prison yard. While fixing my egg, I heard the “anchor” say that President Obama “did not say the word terrorist once”. I burned the egg. I put my head on the counter. Did she just inform me of the “failure” of Barack Obama to use a specific word? She did. I was not particularly hungry.

I use this unfortunate person who was simply reading what was in front of her. Hardly her fault.

No, the fault in reality lies with all of us. Easy to put it on the backs of the news channels – but they after all sell what sells. However, I can’t let then off that easily. Were the news outlets to bring aboard people who actually take journalism seriously and let them do some real work outside the 22nd Century sets – perhaps we might get a little substance.

I have recalled before – the old days – when NBC did something they called “NBC White Paper”. Knowledgeable people, minus marvelous sets, told us the facts on various subjects. Taxation. The “conflict” in Korean. Now I say bring us the facts – fully realizing that facts are always subject to not being facts. But they tried. We listened.

Can you picture Contessa Brewer giving us an hour long dissertation on the operation of the world economy? I pick on Contessa – well – because she deserves it. But I can think of not one person at any of the networks who could – even if given months to prepare – do such a program. Forget the world economy – that is a stretch. Let’s just settle on Social Security.

The President did not say the word terrorist. Will that be the discussion of this lovely weekend when we have some 50 World Cup Qualifiers to enjoy? I’m going to Starbucks, since I missed breakfast. Instead of my usual Starbuck’s greeting – “Hey, did you hear the president did not say terrorist?” Yes I did. I’ll have a Soy Latte. Grande.

If You Never Read Another Blog........

Israel. Palestine. On and on it goes and where it stops no one knows. The threats, the battles, the wars, have gone on far too long. It came to life for me in 1967. Today we follow wars on TV. I followed those seven days on radio. Accomplishment? Not one single thing. Nor have the ensuing “conflicts” up to the first decade of the 21st Century. Perhaps the next decade? Not unless and until persons who like to be known as adults stop acting like kids at recess.

Remember recess? This group vs. that group. “Your mother wears combat boots”. I always liked that one. In reality, it made as much sense as the words, bombs, and slogans going back and forth between the Israelis and the Palestinians. “This is our land – promised thousands of years ago”. “IS NOT – it’s ours. The promise was to us”.

Its land people. Dirt. Stone. An occasional tree. Holy? Neither side can actually prove that.

I love New Zealand. Beautiful land and beautiful people. It’s large. Much is yet to be explored. We would need the cooperation of that country, but I think it might be had.

This is so simple. We get several world leaders together. A coin is tossed. Make it two out of three. The “winner” – Israel or Palestine – gets some boats and airplanes and make way for their new home in New Zealand. Same area size. So tiny, New Zealand would never miss it. No more highly moral killings in the name of God as to whom the dirt belongs to.

Joke? I suppose so, but I really see nothing wrong with it.

BUT – we must have our wars. Got to kill. Got to kill in the name of God.

Am I anti-Semitic or anti-Palestine? Not in any way, shape, or form. I simply do not give a teet on a boar hog who lives where. I do care that they keep fighting about it. Real warriors. Strap that bomb on and sit on the bus.

Did God or Jesus (I get then confused) walk that ground? And if HE did? Many rains and dust storms have long since swept away anything that was holy. It’s now just another patch of land on Planet Earth. It’s like a school playground. Get out there, act like the fully developed men and women you are and get along. Not difficult.

What is difficult, is for American lives to be put on the line time after time after time because of the kids of the Middle East. Suppose we were to say no more? Settle it yourselves. If both sides what all on the other side dead – then have at it. Three months tops.

I have run the course. Don’t ask me for more. Don’t ask for more of my children. You believe you are so spiritual, so all-knowing about things Biblical – then YOU work out your differences and leave the remainder of the world out of it.

And consider the New Zealand option. I think the northern tip of the North Island looks good. For the protection of the good people of that country, I suggest a huge wall. It would not need to be long. The island is narrow at that point.

The world will forever remember Israel and the state-less Palestine’s for bringing so much misery to everyone else. Aren’t you proud? Stop calling on America. Just stop.

Reagan Did It

“This bill is the most important legislation for financial institutions in the last 50 years. It provides a long-term solution for troubled thrift institutions. ... All in all, I think we hit the jackpot.” So declared Ronald Reagan in 1982, as he signed the Garn-St. Germain Depository Institutions Act.
He was, as it happened, wrong about solving the problems of the thrifts. On the contrary, the bill turned the modest-sized troubles of savings-and-loan institutions into an utter catastrophe. But he was right about the legislation’s significance. And as for that jackpot — well, it finally came more than 25 years later, in the form of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.
For the more one looks into the origins of the current disaster, the clearer it becomes that the key wrong turn — the turn that made crisis inevitable — took place in the early 1980s, during the Reagan years.
Attacks on Reaganomics usually focus on rising inequality and fiscal irresponsibility. Indeed, Reagan ushered in an era in which a small minority grew vastly rich, while working families saw only meager gains. He also broke with longstanding rules of fiscal prudence.
On the latter point: traditionally, the U.S. government ran significant budget deficits only in times of war or economic emergency. Federal debt as a percentage of G.D.P. fell steadily from the end of World War II until 1980. But indebtedness began rising under Reagan; it fell again in the Clinton years, but resumed its rise under the Bush administration, leaving us ill prepared for the emergency now upon us.
The increase in public debt was, however, dwarfed by the rise in private debt, made possible by financial deregulation. The change in America’s financial rules was Reagan’s biggest legacy. And it’s the gift that keeps on taking.
The immediate effect of Garn-St. Germain, as I said, was to turn the thrifts from a problem into a catastrophe. The S.& L. crisis has been written out of the Reagan hagiography, but the fact is that deregulation in effect gave the industry — whose deposits were federally insured — a license to gamble with taxpayers’ money, at best, or simply to loot it, at worst. By the time the government closed the books on the affair, taxpayers had lost $130 billion, back when that was a lot of money.
But there was also a longer-term effect. Reagan-era legislative changes essentially ended New Deal restrictions on mortgage lending — restrictions that, in particular, limited the ability of families to buy homes without putting a significant amount of money down.
These restrictions were put in place in the 1930s by political leaders who had just experienced a terrible financial crisis, and were trying to prevent another. But by 1980 the memory of the Depression had faded. Government, declared Reagan, is the problem, not the solution; the magic of the marketplace must be set free. And so the precautionary rules were scrapped.
Together with looser lending standards for other kinds of consumer credit, this led to a radical change in American behavior.
We weren’t always a nation of big debts and low savings: in the 1970s Americans saved almost 10 percent of their income, slightly more than in the 1960s. It was only after the Reagan deregulation that thrift gradually disappeared from the American way of life, culminating in the near-zero savings rate that prevailed on the eve of the great crisis. Household debt was only 60 percent of income when Reagan took office, about the same as it was during the Kennedy administration. By 2007 it was up to 119 percent.
All this, we were assured, was a good thing: sure, Americans were piling up debt, and they weren’t putting aside any of their income, but their finances looked fine once you took into account the rising values of their houses and their stock portfolios. Oops.
Now, the proximate causes of today’s economic crisis lie in events that took place long after Reagan left office — in the global savings glut created by surpluses in China and elsewhere, and in the giant housing bubble that savings glut helped inflate.
But it was the explosion of debt over the previous quarter-century that made the U.S. economy so vulnerable. Overstretched borrowers were bound to start defaulting in large numbers once the housing bubble burst and unemployment began to rise.
These defaults in turn wreaked havoc with a financial system that — also mainly thanks to Reagan-era deregulation — took on too much risk with too little capital.
There’s plenty of blame to go around these days. But the prime villains behind the mess we’re in were Reagan and his circle of advisers — men who forgot the lessons of America’s last great financial crisis, and condemned the rest of us to repeat it.

Folks like Bill O’Reilly – and he simply comes to mind first – go about accusing those who don’t happen to see the highway to “as few abortions as possible” in the same way as he – are evil and must be confronted as such. Bill O’Reilly has a microphone. So does Rush. So does Sean. They stir the pot and when the nuts rise to the top they rejoice.

Bill O’Reilly has called Dr. Tiller everything but human. He has for years. Now he can sit back and light up. Victory is his. Way to go Bill. (NO, Bill it is no victory)

Randy Terry did not just suddenly boil to the surface. This half-man has been “in the news” for at least ten years. Read some on his life. I say some, because no one could take all of it. Married how many times? Disowned his son for being gay. Has been in and out of more churches than the church mouse.

Let’s make no mistake here. We know the law concerning murder. We know Randy was part of the conspiracy. We know he will go away with the devil he supported.

And what about the “mouths” who gave credence to the likes of Randy Terry? Murder in the First can sweep many along. Drive the getaway car at a robbery where a murder was committed? Just as guilty as the one pulling the trigger.

Why in the name of the GOD folks love to love – are we off fighting people half-way around the world – when we the people of the U S can not even solve a simple problem within our borders?

Now we can remove the pro-life phrase from our life. Means nothing, does it? Devils like the shooter and Terry preached pro-life for thirty years. They are no more pro-life than Hitler. Yes I used the word. It fits. Were these pro-life (funny) goof balls to have their way – thousands would be killed. They just do it one at a time. Then smile and say how pro-life they are.

Prepare for the big-house O’Reilly. I am today purchasing a domain to set up a campaign to go after ALL the co-conspirators. ALL

Randall Terry, although he hides behind women, is as much a killer as the devil who shot the doctor. He must stand trial as a co-conspirator and hopefully spend his remaining days in maximum security. Can’t run from this one Randy. Randy the ultimate coward. The ultimate murderer.

“I could care less about the life of that Doctor”, says Randy. How’s that boy of yours Randy. I hope he is doing well and I hope he quit speaking to you years ago. You are not even half the man he is.

Come to his defense Rush. Sean. Glen. I dare you. Go on the air and tell your air-head listeners how the Doc had it coming and that Randy is your new hero. Rush has many heroes who fit in with Randy.

The headline: Police say that abortion provider Dr. George Tiller has been shot and killed at his Wichita church.

ME to Pro Lifers: Just shut the hell up. The world has heard quite enough from you and seen likewise. Hypocrites. No other word fits. Dr. Tiller had a family. Are they next? They did touch the man.

I don’t know why I should be surprised – well in fact I was not. Your “movement” has never been pro-life and obviously never will. Even when you fight like an alley cat for the unborn – you promptly forget them at birth. Your group has stood in the way of adoption. Stood in the way of funding to help the motherless and fatherless. OH, no, no. We have to get to Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, and points east and KILL AS MANY AS WE CAN KILL Pro-Life my ass. KILL, KILL, KILL. Well so long as fits your Godless agenda.

The very next time someone refers to me as pro-death (which is exactly what you call us) – I do believe I will be forced to remove your teeth. Not really – where would that get me? I will just stare at your blood thirsty eyes.

WELL – that did not take long. RUSH has already said Judge Sotomayor would should perform in a circus. Called her a racist. Much like calling Chelsea, at age 11, the ugliest kid in America. Much like mimicking those who have Parkinson’s. RUSH the addict. RUSH the fat. OK, so write that one off – who the hell cares what a sit-down comic has to say.

Orrin’s been out there. “OH, I will be fair, but let’s face it – the nominee is a woman with a Spanish surname. We must look carefully”. Write that one off also, because I already had his script in front of me. The one I wrote. Matched his exactly. Orrin says the same thing every time. A non-thinker.

Several “conservative” groups already have smear campaigns up on the net. Don’t you people remember Lee Atwater repented for all those horrible smears he made at the time of his death? Is that what it takes? They also indicate she only got this far because …………………..damn I forgot what they said.

I have heard a few trial attorneys this morning saying she was a bully. Spoke harshly to them in court. Must not speak harshly to a male trial attorney. Poor things.

Write this one off. Cry-baby little kids trying to make believe they are attorneys.

Off and running. Conservatives – who have not the slightest idea what that term means – are going to fight hard to stop this circus performer. This racist. This non-thinker.

She's One of Them Activists

I have already put a few words into play on this Tuesday. No rest for the………………?

Just a few, very tiny number, of words on the just announced appointment to the Supreme Court. Sonia Sotomayor. OOPS. Now President Obama knows that this will cause the “conservatives” in the Senate to bring up their breakfasts.

Sonia Sotomayor? Is that a common name in middle America? No? Well then she must be condemned. A woman? Don’t we already have two? Sotomayor? That must be some sort of “foreign” name. Can’t have that! A woman; non-American surname; born and raised in New York? We hereby pronounce her to be an ACTIVIST! NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. SHE MUST BE DEFEATED.

Oh yes, I can hear it in my ears. You probably can also. Matter of fact, I can just see Orrin Hatch at this moment. Sitting in his oversized leather chair, calling here, calling there. “This is Orrin. He has nominated a woman. A Hispanic. An activist. What are we going to do? Find dirt. Find something. Oh, this is awful.” Poor Orrin. So out of touch. He still rides a horse up to the Capital. Hires a guard to hold it. “Dirty rotten activist”.

NO, not the horse!

Conservatives, as we know, just don’t live women very much. They don’t like Hispanics. They don’t like New Yorkers. So Rush, Sean, Glen, Laura, and their followers have begun the fight. Rush is shouting “How the hell do you pronounce this?” Sean has a team of fourteen with shovels digging for dirt. Glen is weeping. Laura – well she is being Laura.

It must be horrible to go through one’s life disliking so many. Females. Non-whites. Non-Christian. Folks not named Smith or Jones. Males wearing earrings. Gays. Those whose hair is below the ears. The list is too long.

Well conservatives – we won in November – and we will win this one. Activist……..I have done so much thinking about what that is, I am tired. I can’t think about that any more. Actually I concluded long ago – there is NO difference between an activist judge and a constructionist judge. It is all in the mind. It depends on winning and losing. On whose ox is being gored. Thank God the conservatives own most of the Ox. Is it Ox or Oxen? Come to think of it – more than one are Oxen. I had some soup once, but I don’t want to talk about it.

Go Through the Door Mr President

President Obama has a door opened in front of him. It was opened by Russia and China. The President needs to move through that door immediately.

This discussion obviously is about the North Korean underground nuclear test. A test which seems to have gone rather well. (As tests in North Korea go).

The time is NOW – I mean this morning on May 26, 2009. With the brilliant ability of both our president and our Secretary of State – we can give the North the back of our hand and be praised for it worldwide. True it is difficult to “reason” with, or even get the attention of Kim Jong il – but we can certainly get the attention of his subjects.

For the most part I am opposed to simply increasing sanctions – because it is Kim’s subjects who suffer. However, given the support of 90% of the world leaders – the screw can be given several turns inward. Interdicting ships bound for NK carrying anything but food and medical supplies can be turned back. Kim can be ostracized from the World Community. He is to a great extent now – but if Russia and China will stay on the right side – the egomaniac in Kim will have a meltdown.

How do we keep Russia and China in line? Already mentioned. Get Air Force One to Moscow tomorrow – and Secretary Clinton to China. And don’t underestimate the power of one Bill Clinton. He is already working for the administration – and a side trip be welcomed. Except at Fox News. They would put on an extra show, and each “host” would in turn jump from a cliff. So, we get huge benefits from this!

The last act of this play would be to have Barack and Kim one-on-one. Following of course a pre-visit from “others”. Kim would emerge from that meeting wondering what just hit him.

Time is being lost. I got to gas up the planes.

This Memorial Day please keep the family of Bobby Enloe in your thoughts & prayers. This family has been searching for answers about their loved one for too many years.

“Bobby's family is searching for information to put things to rest. In 1951 A plane went down off the coast of Alaska, in a chain of Islands. My brother was supose to be on that plane. It took almost two weeks to find the plane and it's passengers. At that time the Navy personel informed us that my brother was the Radio Man on that plane. That they had all deceased. At the same time the Alaskan Times News Paper Published a report that Two flares were seen, on two different occations, From that crash sight. Proving somebody was alive. The Navy denied that this was true. They sent the sealed casket with an honor guard, Inssisting that his body was in there. My father managed to pull strings to open this casket. Finding only a uniform layed out, and his cap: Absolutly no physical body to be seen. This has left us wondering if he had been the one too had sent the flares up, at the sight of the crash. Three months before this all had happened. He had been on leave. Visiting with the family. My father was in question of what was going on, due to his behavior. The morning he left, to return to duty. He told my mother he would not be back. Raising more concern about what was going on. At that time my father asked him about UFO'S , and what he knew. His responce was; I can't tell you, But if I could. It would curl your hair! If anyone has any information on these events or can lead me to the truth. It would change a great deal for my family. I have filed a Freedom of Information Act. And Was led to a dead end. His files no longer existed. As if he never were to exist.”

I am the wife of a Veteran who watched as her husband loose his VA Disability Pension & was forced to repay six months of benefits. I wrote too many unanswered letters to authorities. I found the story above heart wrenching and I have taken up their cause. They can be contacted through the website mentioned.

Dear Dick Cheney:

Back in November 2008 we held an election here in the U S. While you were not on the ballot – those representing your point of view were. They lost. They lost by a wide margin. History, and only history, will judge the wisdom of the electorate. You are not the judge. You are the former Vice President. By refusing to accept defeat, and your insistence on going before microphones to call the winner childish names – do a disservice to all of us. I absolutely understand your “right” to continue speaking – but you are not an ordinary citizen. You are as noted, a former high public official. Please do the correct thing – by ceasing to be a disgruntled loser. We listened to you for eight years. It is time for you to go.

Every time I see or hear you – I cannot help but think back to the Viet Nam era. While I and tens of thousands of Americans answered our country’s call to arms – you refused. I was fortunate. I survived. You went about life as if you had no responsibility whatsoever. You obtained five deferments to avoid putting yourself in harms way. To avoid military service. To avoid honor.

Years pass, and you move forward to become the Vice President. Along with your fellow Neo Con’s – you led your country into Iraq. (Sorry, led is not exactly the correct term). You either bought into or perhaps led the tortured conclusion that Iraq was directly involved in the attack on New York. Your solution was to invade that country at the cost of many thousands of American lives. Three times that number lost limps and suffered other horrible injuries. Those deaths and injuries continue today.

With the above in mind Mr. Cheney, you might see how impossible it is for me and millions like me, to take you seriously when you pontificate about wars and the responsibility of young persons to step up. Those without honor have no right at all to question that attribute in others.

You also have no concept of the tradition of the honor of American military forces. It is true Mr. Cheney – that when one resorts to the horrible tactics of one’s enemy – one becomes the enemy. May God forbid that my son be captured by the enemy. However, you and your administration gave away our honor. I suspect you continue to believe that our troops when captured must give only name, rank, and service number. You have no way of knowing that of course – but that has been part of the UCMJ since forever. By giving away American honor like a rag doll, you have put OUR sons and daughters in much greater danger. (As opposed to yours)

Enhanced Interrogation. There was a clear reason for selecting a misleading term. Otherwise why would you not just call it by name? I strongly suspect many hours were spent coming up with a term which would mislead the public. It also points out that even you had misgivings about the real term. Mislead. That was the mantra of the administration you led. Don’t ever expect me to believe that W Bush was calling any shots. Let man and fish coexist?

While I am on the subject of “terms” Mr. Cheney – why exactly did we find it necessary to give cute names to wars? When did that begin? Desert Shield. Desert Storm. Operation This, and Operation That. Now I have been around for some time and I will give you a pass on this one. We have never called the Korean War anything but the Korean Conflict. WWI was a war, as was WWII. I do believe we called Viet Nam a war. But then the politicians – both sides – decided in their wisdom – that we common Americans would be more likely to accept an Operation rather than a War.

Is that where you picked up the concept that “Americans are dumb – and will buy virtually anything? Tell us you know without ANY doubt that Iraq was behind the attack on New York – and processed tons of weapons of mass destruction? Tell us that turning Iraq into a Western democracy would be “a piece of cake”? Tell us four years ago that the operation in Iraq was about finished?

Finally Mr. Cheney, I want to discuss a topic on which you and yours have relied so much. On September 12, 2001 we were operating in a vacuum. We did not know what was coming next. We were caught entirely off guard.

Richard Clarke. The record, as you love to refer to, is quite clear that Mr. Clarke and others DID inform your administration of a pending attack. You swept it under the carpet, and then did all you could to discredit Mr. Clarke. What were you and “your boss” doing from January 20, 2000 to September 11, 2001? Were you not sound asleep at the helm? Your argument does not fly – or as you might say – that dog won’t hunt. I will not discuss hunting. Well perhaps a little. I did a little bird hunting before I knew better. I do not see how it is possible for a hunter to shoot a large man, dressed in human clothing, and not flying, to be mistaken for a bird. Any bird hunter knows you fire when your target is about 45 degrees. A flying man? OK, I accept it was an “accident”. Well not really. I just think it is further evidence of the “MAN” you are. (Or are not).

WASHINGTON — Former Vice President Dick Cheney's defense Thursday of the Bush administration's policies for interrogating suspected terrorists contained omissions, exaggerations and misstatements.
In his address to the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative policy organization in Washington, Cheney said that the techniques the Bush administration approved, including waterboarding — simulated drowning that's considered a form of torture — forced nakedness and sleep deprivation, were "legal" and produced information that "prevented the violent death of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of innocent people."
He quoted the Director of National Intelligence, Adm. Dennis Blair, as saying that the information gave U.S. officials a "deeper understanding of the al Qaida organization that was attacking this country."
In a statement April 21, however, Blair said the information "was valuable in some instances" but that "there is no way of knowing whether the same information could have been obtained through other means. The bottom line is that these techniques hurt our image around the world, the damage they have done to our interests far outweighed whatever benefit they gave us and they are not essential to our national security."
A top-secret 2004 CIA inspector general's investigation found no conclusive proof that information gained from aggressive interrogations helped thwart any "specific imminent attacks," according to one of four top-secret Bush-era memos that the Justice Department released last month.
FBI Director Robert Mueller told Vanity Fair magazine in December that he didn't think that the techniques disrupted any attacks.
_ Cheney said that President Barack Obama's decision to release the four top-secret Bush administration memos on the interrogation techniques was "flatly contrary" to U.S. national security, and would help al Qaida train terrorists in how to resist U.S. interrogations.
However, Blair, who oversees all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies, said in his statement that he recommended the release of the memos, "strongly supported" Obama's decision to prohibit using the controversial methods and that "we do not need these techniques to keep America safe."
_ Cheney said that the Bush administration "moved decisively against the terrorists in their hideouts and their sanctuaries, and committed to using every asset to take down their networks."
The former vice president didn't point out that Osama bin Laden and his chief lieutenant, Ayman al Zawahri, remain at large nearly eight years after 9-11 and that the Bush administration began diverting U.S. forces, intelligence assets, time and money to planning an invasion of Iraq before it finished the war in Afghanistan against al Qaida and the Taliban.
There are now 49,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan fighting to contain the bloodiest surge in Taliban violence since the 2001 U.S.-led intervention, and Islamic extremists also have launched their most concerted attack yet on neighboring, nuclear-armed Pakistan.
_ Cheney denied that there was any connection between the Bush administration's interrogation policies and the abuse of detainee at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison, which he blamed on "a few sadistic guards . . . in violation of American law, military regulations and simple decency."
However, a bipartisan Senate Armed Services Committee report in December traced the abuses at Abu Ghraib to the approval of the techniques by senior Bush administration officials, including former Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld.
"The abuse of detainees in U.S. custody cannot simply be attributed to the actions of 'a few bad apples' acting on their own," said the report issued by Sens. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and John McCain, R-Ariz. "The fact is that senior officials in the United States government solicited information on how to use aggressive techniques, redefined the law to create the appearance of their legality and authorized their use against detainees."
_ Cheney said that "only detainees of the highest intelligence value" were subjected to the harsh interrogation techniques, and he cited Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, the alleged mastermind of the 9-11 attacks.
He didn't mention Abu Zubaydah, the first senior al Qaida operative to be captured after 9-11. Former FBI special agent Ali Soufan told a Senate subcommittee last week that his interrogation of Zubaydah using traditional methods elicited crucial information, including Mohammed's alleged role in 9-11.
The decision to use the harsh interrogation methods "was one of the worst and most harmful decisions made in our efforts against al Qaida," Soufan said. Former State Department official Philip Zelikow, who in 2005 was then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's point man in an internal fight to overhaul the Bush administration's detention policies, joined Soufan in his criticism.
_ Cheney said that "the key to any strategy is accurate intelligence," but the Bush administration ignored warnings from experts in the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the State Department, the Department of Energy and other agencies, and used false or exaggerated intelligence supplied by Iraqi exile groups and others to help make its case for the 2003 invasion.
Cheney made no mention of al Qaida operative Ali Mohamed al Fakheri, who's known as Ibn Sheikh al Libi, whom the Bush administration secretly turned over to Egypt for interrogation in January 2002. While allegedly being tortured by Egyptian authorities, Libi provided false information about Iraq's links with al Qaida, which the Bush administration used despite doubts expressed by the DIA.
A state-run Libyan newspaper said Libi committed suicide recently in a Libyan jail.
_ Cheney accused Obama of "the selective release" of documents on Bush administration detainee policies, charging that Obama withheld records that Cheney claimed prove that information gained from the harsh interrogation methods prevented terrorist attacks.
"I've formally asked that (the information) be declassified so the American people can see the intelligence we obtained," Cheney said. "Last week, that request was formally rejected."
However, the decision to withhold the documents was announced by the CIA, which said that it was obliged to do so by a 2003 executive order issued by former President George W. Bush prohibiting the release of materials that are the subject of lawsuits.
_ Cheney said that only "ruthless enemies of this country" were detained by U.S. operatives overseas and taken to secret U.S. prisons.
A 2008 McClatchy investigation, however, found that the vast majority of Guantanamo detainees captured in 2001 and 2002 in Afghanistan and Pakistan were innocent citizens or low-level fighters of little intelligence value who were turned over to American officials for money or because of personal or political rivalries.
In addition, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Oct. 5, 2005, that the Bush administration had admitted to her that it had mistakenly abducted a German citizen, Khaled Masri, from Macedonia in January 2004.
Masri reportedly was flown to a secret prison in Afghanistan, where he allegedly was abused while being interrogated. He was released in May 2004 and dumped on a remote road in Albania.
In January 2007, the German government issued arrest warrants for 13 alleged CIA operatives on charges of kidnapping Masri.
_ Cheney slammed Obama's decision to close the Guantanamo Bay prison camp and criticized his effort to persuade other countries to accept some of the detainees.
The effort to shut down the facility, however, began during Bush's second term, promoted by Rice and Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
"One of the things that would help a lot is, in the discussions that we have with the states of which they (detainees) are nationals, if we could get some of those countries to take them back," Rice said in a Dec. 12, 2007, interview with the British Broadcasting Corp. "So we need help in closing Guantanamo."
_ Cheney said that, in assessing the security environment after 9-11, the Bush team had to take into account "dictators like Saddam Hussein with known ties to Mideast terrorists."
Cheney didn't explicitly repeat the contention he made repeatedly in office: that Saddam cooperated with al Qaida, a linkage that U.S. intelligence officials and numerous official inquiries have rebutted repeatedly.
The late Iraqi dictator's association with terrorists vacillated and was mostly aimed at quashing opponents and critics at home and abroad.
The last State Department report on international terrorism to be released before 9-11 said that Saddam's regime "has not attempted an anti-Western terrorist attack since its failed plot to assassinate former President (George H.W.) Bush in 1993 in Kuwait."
A Pentagon study released last year, based on a review of 600,000 Iraqi documents captured after the U.S.-led invasion, concluded that while Saddam supported militant Palestinian groups — the late terrorist Abu Nidal found refuge in Baghdad, at least until Saddam had him killed — the Iraqi security services had no "direct operational link" with al Qaida.

The Big Three Cowards

OH WHAT HUGE COWARDS THEY ARE

Every time I see or hear Dick Cheney - especially when he pontificates about bravery and keeping America safe – I just go nuts. Yes further nuts. I have the same reaction to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Just when I thought I was out…..they pull me back in.

Never has Dick Cheney discussed his refusal to actually defend his beloved country in uniform. Correction. He did once say: I had higher priorities. In other words he was obsessed with keeping his behind out of war. It took five deferments and lots of string pulling, but Dick succeeded. Now here he is years later insisting that our sons and daughters die to prove their love of country. I personally believe Dick also went to extraordinary lengths to mislead all of us. As a Neo-Con; he joined with the bunch of seven – named over and over – to get us into a preemptive war with thousands of lives lost at their hands. But, hey – they didn’t suffer. Not a single one of the seven elected to serve in the military. They all dived for cover when their country really needed them. I don’t like name calling. Reminds me of my days on the playground at recess in third grade. However, there come times when a person is so despicable – names are required. Dick Cheney – you are a coward. Proved beyond any doubt. You are a liar. You know full well, as you knew in 2002 that Iraq had NO part in the attack on New York. Yet you went before the Nation and said you had proof of it. You lied. Others died.

Did anyone else notice that when Dick speaks – he never looks at the person to whom he is speaking – including the TV camera? Always looks elsewhere. Also never ever smiles. But that I understand.

It seems to me those who insist water boarding is an act consistent with the values of America – should all volunteer for at least ten sessions. To date, not one has stepped forward. Yes Sean said he would, BUT he has not and will not. He is after all Sean Hannity. Made from the mold of Cheney. Ran off to say he had to become a Priest. No military for this brave one. Then, like Dick, when his military time was passed, he rushed to the microphone to call others to war. You people must go over there and get them. Said Sean. I have challenged Sean to go on over and embed with a unit in Afghanistan. He’s eligible. No, not Sean. He might get hurt. Poor Sean, all mouth – no action.

I am just not going to spend any more time on Rush. Should one look back, it will be found I have said about all I can say about this third coward. The one thing I will mention again – is his assertion that he (Rush) is a more patriotic American than Colin Powell. That is so disgraceful and laughable – it needs little comment. Another military coward vs. a true American hero.

Sometimes in the past, folks have taken exception to my position – believing that I am saying in order to be patriotic. That is not the case – far from it. My objection is when one deliberately escapes military service – THEN becomes a war hawk. I don’t even think one must serve to be in favor of some particular war or to vote for a way. A war hawk is a different animal. A war hawk relishes in having wars. It’s ironic that that military folks are the least hawkish. They know the score. No, it’s the Cheney’s, the Limbaugh’s and the Hannity’s of the world I object to.

I would give the farm, were I to obtain one, to have Cheney, Limbaugh, and Hannity come together with Powell, Petraeus, and Mullen to engage in a debate on war and war tactics. Raise your hand if you believe one of the cowards would ever take part in such a debate. Better to use the microphone, then run for cover.

Damn. I think I said something profound. Why not have “The Cowards” have a public, televised debate with those suggested? Let someone with power throw down the gauntlet. Can’t you imagine Rush pointing a finger at General Petraeus and telling him he knows nothing of war? We must get this off the ground. Toss it out to all your friends. Contact the media. Contact me.

New GOP Policy

Alert!!!! The GOP is expanding its general policy of Just Say No. They are adding at extra cost – The Attack & Call Names Addendum. The extra cost will be extracted at the next election. Not clear on just who the cost will be extracted from. (OK English Profs – I know that was a horrible non-sentence). How about all my fragments?

The addendum to GOP policy is to take place in a gentle way, according to RNC Chairman Steele. Right!!!!

The kick-off has already happened. There was of course Newt. Absolutely amazing that this man would preach to us on the qualifications for Speaker of the House. Newt – just go back to one of your families and tend to your problems. We Americans had a sufficient dose of you many years ago.

Today, the GOP troops are out in force. The name of the day is Socialist. President Obama is a socialist and all of us who support him are likewise. Allow me a bit of a lecture. Social Security is by virtually everyone’s definition – socialist. It has been around for a long while – and I seem to see Republicans quite enjoying it. Here’s the deal. Let any GOP member of congress write and propose a bill to abolish this socialist program. Let his or her brethren join in co-sponsorship. THEN and only then – will they earn any right to call others socialists. What is that silence I hear from the chambers? As W said – Fool Me Once…………[pause]………………………..You Can’t Get Fooled Again. As usual W had a little problem with words and memory. I do however like his policy of allowing man and fish to coexist. And to let OB/GYN’s practice their love on women. ??? (Is that what they do?)

Now to be clear, I actually hope the GOP continues on its current path. The path leads to the graveyard. I shall be happy to bring a shovel and assist in any way.

Newt Gingrich. Man of honor. Waltzed into his first wife’s hospital room. Hey honey, I want a divorce. The reason for her hospitalization? Cancer. Ran the House during his tenure like the less than moral creep he is. Forced out on ethics charges. Sorry for my own name calling – but in Newt’s case – I simply can’t help it. My bad.

Rush Limbaugh. Current GOP leader. Man of honor. Really? Was not it Rush who called for the jailing of ALL drug abusers – except him? I do believe Rush was too much the coward to get his own supply, so he made his housekeeper do it. It was Rush (and is Rush) who believes himself a far better American than Colin Powell. Never mind that Rush refused any military service. That one needs no further discussion. Then it was Rush who mimicked those suffering Parkinson’s disease. Need more?

Newt and Rush. Let them lead. Let the GOP follow them in droves. I happen to really like being a winner.

Prepare for the War

As we approach another appointment to the Supreme Court, it is time to again prepare for the illogical protests which will flow from the Right. The familiar words and phrases will surface. Litmus test. Activist.

Actually, I find the arguments of so-called conservatives rather amusing. Consider their insistence that no litmus test be applied in the selection of a Court nominee. We all know this is code for Roe v Wade. “Do not appoint someone who is in favor of a woman’s right to choose”. Were that to be a condition of appointment – it would be a litmus test. The Right wants no part of such a test. Well, back up the truck. We need to hear the amusing part. What the Right insists on, is a Judge who will favor reversing Roe. When I question one of my good friends from that side of the spectrum – I am told “NO, it’s only a litmus test when applied by the Left”. Don’t tell me that’s not funny. That’s funny!

Hold on. It gets better. The Right also insists that a Supreme Court justice must be what they call a Strict Constructionist. (I assume that is much better than a non-strict one). Whatever a strict one is – the opposite is an Activist. I happen to be a very big fan of British humor. One of the first to “rear his head” will be Orrin Hatch, who for some reason reminds me of a British Lord. Listening to him attempt to explain the difference between constructionist and activist is hilarious. (By the way, I am still trying to determine how one “rears” one’s head). I suppose I will need to go to Alaska and let Sarah show me – otherwise I am bound to injure myself. Orin twists and turns. Sways and wobbles. Spews out pure gibberish. But funny. Bottom line: A constructive judge is one who agrees with Orin on all issues. As noted before – the opposite is an activist.

Speaking of amusing – coming in right behind old Orrin is Justice Antonin Scalia. Occasionally one of these Lords of the Law speaks. Justice Scalia makes it very simple. He reads the Constitution much the same as a Southern Baptist reads the Bible. That too is amusing. How many times do we believe the Bible has been rewritten and reinterpreted? Yet the current version MUST be correct. It says Bible on the cover – and that is that. I think perhaps something may have been lost when all those rocks were collected and read. Accordingly, as America grows and changes, so too the Constitution lives and grows with us. Orin, unlike me, believes he knows exactly what those framers of the Constitution had in mind. Nuts. Go back to sleep Orrin.

I pick on Orrin, but he is joined by dozens of “lawmakers” there in Washington. The current leader of the Republican Party – Rush Limbaugh – will issue instructions via his throne at WABC. AND Rush also is funny. I don’t listen to him. I actually don’t care much for standup comedy. Yes I realize Rush is always sitting, but it’s the same act. Have you seen how “large” Rush has become? No, not in terms of ratings. I mean his frame has expanded to a point which makes him appear unnatural. Those pain killers will definitely do that.

So my friends, let us prepare for battle – for battle we face. As noted, the good part of these Court battles is the fun we will have. I can picture the stern look of those very conservative (whatever that means) senators looking down at the poor soul at the table. Some will wag fingers. Others may look directly at the camera and lecture. The lecture of course is intended for those nice voters back home. For Rush. For Hannity. For Beck.

Once the good senators have satisfied themselves with a full share of BS retinoic – a vote will be taken. Hopefully there will be a Senator Franken by then, and despite the outrage of the right – we and the President will win the war. We will have another activist justice.

Later in the summer we will have another. Don’t you love winning?

Notre Dame - Again

There are many things in life I simply do not understand. I must admit that in some cases this is due to a lack of investigation. In others, it is due perhaps to having an IQ not quite as high as I might think. Still, there are issues and happenings in life which I just find puzzling.

Now that I have presented a feeble attempt at a preamble – let me go ahead and dive off the cliff.

Notre Dame. Nuts. No not to Notre Dame. I just realized I should reveal for the sake of full disclosure – that I am “officially” a Catholic. By conversion. Practicing? No. OK, now I can go on. One more thing. You will, if you have not already noticed that I write with what my many years of studying English insist are “fragments”. I realize that. I happen to speak that way and thus I write accordingly. I sort of like it.

Where were we? (Or where was I?) Notre Dame. I did not attend this great university. I consider myself fortunate to have graduated from a small, liberal arts college. (It has now grown into a University). The single most important thing I learned in those four years was to listen and carefully consider ALL points of view on every subject. Ironically – the speaker at my commencement was a Catholic Bishop. No, my college was in no way associated with the Catholic Church or any other.

Funny, I don’t recall any objection to having the good Bishop speak. No organizations speaking out that we graduates would for sure be converted to Catholicism. My conversion had taken place many years before. Over the years I remember having atheists speak. Breaking news. I did not become an atheist.

IF the persons and organizations protesting President Obama at Notre Dame are so uncertain of their own beliefs – then I can only pity them. Perhaps the president might speak of Afghanistan. Perhaps he might suggest some might want to enter the military. Are those subjects also out of bounds?

I could just close right here. I have yet to eat breakfast. The dog needs a walk. The cat is on top of the TV staring me down. I must ignore those beasts and make a final point.

Pro-Life. Yes that is a carefully crafted term to say – “If you are not Pro-Life; you must be Pro-Death”. It’s prime time, so I won’t use the words which come to mind. I am not a member of the inappropriately named Pro-Life movement.

Here is how I prefer to look at this “issue”. Some assume there is a city (probably on a hill) known as City of Zero Abortions. Folks have tried for decades to get to that city. All roads lead elsewhere. The reason. The city does not exist. One can not get there. Any person of means will hop a plane to Europe and get the abortion. Those not so fortunate will report to a dirty alley and be operated upon with a coat hanger – by someone – also dirty.

A city which does exist – and can be traveled to – is a city known as City of Few Abortions. Many roads lead there – but those who call themselves Pro-Life will not travel those roads. (Interesting how Pro-Life refers only to the unborn. Go shoot or bomb folks who happen to be visiting a Planned Parenthood facility? That seems OK. What we all need to do is come reason together. I fully support a woman’s right to choose. Should she be committing a sin – then God has made it clear HE will do the judging. I am content to let Him have his way. Should any woman close to me ask my advice about abortion – I would beg that person to take an alternative. So, I am not pro death – but if that term makes the Pro-Lifer’s feel better – I can live with the title.

So there you are. Fragments and all. I do hope I did not leave one of those dreadful things in English which dangle. And God forbid I should have left a preposition all alone at the end of a sentence. Whatever.

Open up the minds Notre Dame. Let some fresh air in. It will not harm you.

Poor Notre Dame

Poor Notre Dame University. Apparently the students at this institution are just too weak – too vulnerable – to be anywhere near persons who may not agree with the leaders of said university. Reminds me of a controversy at an elementary school. Oh we can’t have these little kids hearing the bad man speak about lions in Africa. They will be scared. Keep the bad man away.

Well – obviously Barack Obama is not a bad man. And the leadership of Notre Dame University does not know the truth about all things. They have opinions – as do we all.

The purpose, as most folks understand by grade ten, of higher education is to allow for the give and take of ideas. In the old Soviet Union – I presume their universities TOLD the students what they were to believe. No discussion. No debate. No new ideas. Hardly a place of “higher” learning. Is that what Notre Dame is? Do students go to ND to be told what they will believe? There is a chapel on campus which I do believe would fill that role. Is abortion the subject in all classes at ND? Student goes to an advanced physics class and the professor lectures on abortion?

I personally don’t give a tinker’s damn what ND does – but I hope they know how foolish they look – and I must presume how foolish they ARE.

Now that I am knee deep – the so called “Pro-Life” folks can just take that term and insert it in a private place. NO ONE knows when life begins. The Pope, by virtue of a lifetime of indoctrination – believes he knows. But I must issue an alert that HE is just another man. Elected in a purely political process. I am very much in favor of allowing those second class humans known as women – to make their own decisions. That does not make me anti-life. I would advise any person close to me to take an alternative. But somewhere along the way – I seem to have gotten the idea that GOD makes judgments. So – if these horrible persons (according to the very holy Pro-Lifers) are making a mistake – LET GOD HANDLE IT. KEEP OUT OF IT.

Meanwhile – poor Notre Dame. Do all the students there have Mommy and Daddy staying with them? Guarding them against hearing or seeing something Mom and Pop don’t like?

The city of NO ABORTIONS does not exist – and thus one can not go there. There is a city known as FEW ABORTIONS AS POSSIBLE. There is a fairly good road leading there. Look it up. Stop whining about getting to zero abortions.

Stop Attacking from the Left

IN DEFENSE OF BARACK OBAMA AS IF HE NEEDS IT!

I believe I have sufficient “left-wing” credentials to be called the L word. No I am no radical. I have been on the Earth for a period of time which qualifies me for “one of increased wisdom”. Yes – that will be enough about me.

Many on the left are now turning their backs on Obama. They believe he has let them down. Quite to the contrary.

VERY intelligent persons do not drag themselves into a hole labeled liberal or conservative and refuse – as Sarah would put it – to rear their heads.

Intelligent persons listen. They think. They listen more. They study. Finally, after having considered all options they take decisions. That is the case with Barack on the photos and a couple of other issues which “upset” the left. May I remind you – it is we on the left who take great pride on our intelligence. J That President Obama was able to listen to his military advisors and “change his mind” for the ultimate protection of our troops (including my son) is the mark of a leader.

Compare Obama’s actions to that of W. W did not listen – except to Cheney – and when he did – he did not understand what was being said. He instead was the exact opposite of people like Obama. No listening. NEVER change one’s mind. Plunge forward. Well we all know where that got us.

Accordingly, I appeal to my left wing friends to also think. We all come to issues with our own baggage. I have a son in Iraq. I do not expect every decision the President makes to be based on that lone fact. I can however appreciate that he has obviously taken the safety of our troops into account. W did not. Give this extraordinary man a chance. Don’t undermine his efforts. Do that – and you will be looking at President Palin. May God forbid.

By backing away from OUR president – one only gives credence to the opposition. They have no positions on which to speak – so they love it when we attack from the left.

I know each of us understand that there is now and always will be a large gap between utopia and reality. The REAL world is where we are. It is the world we are going to live in if we chose to live. We fought the good fight and won. Now take a few steps back and take some deep breaths. Let Barack Obama be the man he is. Do this and I guarantee he will join Washington and Lincoln as one of the truly great leaders of not only America – but Planet Earth.

Sean Hannity - Coward

SEAN PATRICK HANNITY PORTRAIT OF A COWARD

I have written many times that it is not my position that any person must serve in the military to be honorable and patriotic. The problem I have is with those who go on to be war hawks. When all danger of serving has passed, they then preach war. What’s wrong with that picture? It is established history that the planners of the “preemptive” war against the people of Iraq – served not a day in uniform. (The one exception was Donald Rumsfeld who did some teaching). ALL the others ran like chickens from the military. Most notable? Dick Cheney. Took five deferments to avoid Viet Nam. In his own words: “I had higher priorities”. This “man”, who was and is gung-ho to send our sons and daughters to die – had higher priorities. Dick Cheney is coward personified.

Then there is the lad whose name is at the top. Sean Hannity. War, war, war he shouts. YOU must go over and get them. This guy was to be a priest – but gave that up when military danger passed. Drop out from New York University. Radio called. Is there something about right-wing microphones that attract the Hannitys of the world? There is Rush. Drug pusher. College drop-out. IQ (yes there is proof) of 108.

Oh yes, this is about Sean. Not only is Sean a yellow coward ready to sacrifice OUR sons and daughters – but this “man” has zero credibility. Proof: Every president has done something good. I give full credit to those presidents I otherwise dislike for good deeds. That includes Nixon, Reagan, and both Bush 41 and 43. Sean on the other hand has NEVER given one slight degree of credit to any “liberal”. Not once. That is clear evidence that the “man” does not think. No credibility. Coward.

This guy won’t even allow himself to be water boarded by FRIENDS for charity. Poor baby. Thank God Fox has him so I never have to see him. Fox. Journalism? Very funny!

I can’t leave without another punch at Rush. That would be “I hope America fails” Rush. It would be the Rush who turned his housekeeper into a pusher. The Rush who openly made fun of those who suffer from Parkinson’s. Mimicked them right on the air. Waved his arms wildly. “This is what those people look like”. Voice of the Republican Party! Well there’s Sarah. Newt.

Sean – be a man. Actually you can go to Iraq immediately and embed with a unit. Other reporters have. What’s wrong Sean? What was it you “learned” in preparation for the priesthood?

Say It Isn’t So – I Can’t Take It

Just when one believes things are pretty much in the bottom of the tank – we are about to embark on yet another of those hideous confirmations of a Supreme Court Justice. We know the drill without even bothering our brains. Obama will name a well qualified candidate. Long before that name reaches formal nomination – the Conservatives will have all guns in place and firing. And off we will go into another long series of hearings pitting man against man. Woman against woman. Kids against kids. Dogs against dogs.

The reason?

Conservatives (most have not a clue what Bill Buckley and others taught about the movement) will begin this endless diatribe about Strict Constructionists vs. Activist members of the Court. It is actually quite hilarious to hear the right discuss the difference according to their “doctrine”. “Why, a strict constructionist looks to the actual intent of the authors of the Constitution – at the time written – and make no allowance for the passage of time. (Time Passages) While an Activist – makes new laws”.

I am not a lawyer. I only play one on the internet. However, I did manage to drag myself through elementary, middle, high, and college. Then I spent a career where my job actually was that of an untitled lawyer. However, it was in third grade I do think I recall some teacher explaining how things change over time. Yes, it was third – Mrs. Jones.

Interpretation. Now that is the magic word isn’t it? “What was Madison thinking at the very moment he wrote a particular passage? – asks the right. Lord in Heaven knows we can’t have anyone now thinking differently. Got to go back in time. Sit down with the framers and see what they had in mind. I really do believe conservatives think that is exactly what we should do. Impossible? Yes, but that makes no difference to those whose brains are stuck in reverse.

Many legal scholars believe if the Court in 1954-55 had taken the conservative view literally – Brown vs. Board of Education could not have been decided the way it was. I would suggest that in fact many on the right would in fact have loved a contrary opinion. Now what would the two Toms; the two James, and Governor Morris have done? What

would they have done? What about it Senator Hatch? You have an idea?

No. Time passes. Things change. With due respect to Justices Scalia, Thomas, and Roberts – no boys you don’t have the slightest idea what the men who wrote the Constitution were thinking THEN. Were that not sufficient ignorance – Scalia now is on his latest rant, that we must never, ever look to see how other countries have settled issues. He doesn’t even believe it proper to READ what they have done.

Interpretation of the Constitution reminds me of Biblical interpretation. Along comes Bertha pointing to a verse somewhere in the New Testament saying thou shall not do (A). Hearing this, Sam digs up his Bible and finds a passage saying yes thou can. The Bible has been interpreted so many times; count was lost long ago. So it is with the Constitution. And if we really didn’t like parts of the document – we amended it. Take that. So we can CHANGE the Constitution – but we cannot interpret it. Unless of course the interpretation agrees with the holy right. It that case it is fine.

Well, perhaps I can find a cave and hide there until the Supreme Court battles are over.

I must however send a message to the right. There is absolutely NO difference in a Strict Constructionist and an Activist. None. It is a figment of one’s imagination. Depends on whose ox is being gored. I fully realize you folks are in a position of “just say no” to everything – but look at your party. You are led by Rush (flunked out of SE MO State); Sarah (I can see Putin REAR his head). Thrown in coward Hannity and the one with the broomstick (Ann) – and that’s it! So swing the mud, just say no. I must admit I like seeing you sweat.

Rush vs. Powell?

Rush Limbaugh vs. Colin Powell ?

Let me see if I can get my arms around this. Where to begin?

General Powell has spent his entire adult life serving his country. Fought in wars to make it possible for fat, loud mouths to earn a living. Rose to become this country’s Secretary of State. I obviously skipped over all the details between Viet Nam and Secretary of State. The General had to see thousands of good and decent men and women die in battle. Spoke with hundreds of grieving families. Served wherever and whenever his country called.

Rush Limbaugh on the other hand dodged, skipped, ran, and a few other things to keep his huge behind out of serving his country. No not me, said Rush. No, Rush would find a microphone to call others to arms. Love that war. “You guys go over there and get them”. ME? Oh, I have a radio show to do. Rush apparently spent a lot of time with old Dick Cheney. They sat around bars telling each other how the US must enter this war and that war. Hung Ho they were. Well, not exactly. ONLY if it meant other persons would die.

Now Rush – trust me I only saw it on a news highlight – takes to the radio again and calls Colin Powell names. He called him a Democrat – which of course I do not object to – but he also would have one believe Colin has never really done much for America.

Rush on the other hand has done so much. Let me recall…….. There was the time he mimicked those suffering from Parkinson’s. There sat Rush in his oversized chair throwing his arms, and neck around. Imitating a Parkinson’s patient. That was disgraceful, but even more so was how he got away with it. Then there are the pills. A confessed drug abuser vs. a true American hero. Rush was not content with using the drugs – he was so much the coward he forced his housekeeper to do his bidding. To be short and to the point – Rush has not done one single thing for his country – yet he dares take on Colin Powell. How much do the nuts who listen to this guy need to wake them?

I have made this point until I can hardly do it again. But I will. It seems it is always those who find a way out of the military who love wars – in fact plan them. What do the following have in common?

Rush

Cheney

Hannity

Beck

Feith

Perle

Wolfowitz

And a cast of many others.

None served a single day in the military.

Now there is a list folks. No, I’m not going to say a list of what. My mother taught me better. But consider this: If this group of…………..NO, I can not say it – continue as the best the GOP can come up with. WOW Think of the fun we will have.

For starters, none served in the military – yet all favor all wars. So long as WE sacrifice OUR kids – not theirs. AND certainly not them personally.

Ann, Ann, Ann. Lay down the broom and get your skinny behind over to Iraq. Embed with the troops. No danger of in-bedding. The male troops have standards.

Bachmann. Check yourself into an institution. Better now than when they must come get you and put you in chains. Your mind has obviously sustained a shutdown.

Fat Drug Pushing Rush. Coward 1st Class. Blow hard. Everyone from SE Missouri knows what you are. They might start talking!

Sarah. Just keep doing what you do. You will self-destruct quite soon. Dysfunctional family. How is old Todd doing? Did he ever work? Guess not. Take your religious nut cases and set sail. Go look at Putin “rearing his head”. Sarah, you never did explain how to “rear a head”. What the hell does that mean?

Glen. Go back on the pills.

Newt. Go back to sleep. Get another wife. What is it five looking for six?

Laura. Take the Palin trip.

Now, if they all leave, what will we do for fun? OH we would figure something out.

In The Beginning..........................

In the beginning………………well – there was no blogging. In fact there was no writing. Can’t say for sure about speaking. I assume God looked upon his work and said “This is good”. Along the way, he apparently turned to his/her technical advisors and said “Let there be blogging”. And so it was. And so it is.

So here I am with a blog. Now the question is – how to get anyone other than myself to read it? I am not a journalist. I am not a so-called expert. Pretty good accountant – but I guess than means nothing. In fact I am quite sure of that. I see, I hear, I respond. If this blog serves no other purpose – it is a place for me to unwind. For over two years I did that on the MyBarack web site. I needed a place. Everyone needs a place. So I invented this place. It’s lonely. Occasionally I go Twitter. Then when I am feeling wanted – I return here. And so it goes.

100 days in office for Barack Obama.

So far – so good. Picked up another (sometimes) vote in the Senate yesterday. I have always been rather fond of Arlen Specter. There has always been something about him which I admired. Now I know what it was. He has for the most part always been one of us. Welcome Arlen.

Back to those 100 days. Limbaugh is not impressed. Hannity attacks daily. The Republicans in congress are just saying no. The media is trying very hard to find the dirt. Some don’t like his clothing. Smiles too much according to others. The economy – at least on a mental level is rebounding. It must first do that before the hard numbers can change. Bo is in place. Garden is growing. Excellent.

I prefer to be in attack mode. Lots of targets. I always return to Sean Hannity. Rush we all know is nothing more than a showman – selling himself to the hard right. They all gather about a radio and rejoice at every word the fat drug pusher says. Everyone must do something with one’s day.

Hannity. Sean gave up any credibility years ago. Any “journalist” who can never, under any circumstance find anything good about the opposition – simply gives away credibility. Coward. Sean preaches war constantly. But Sean refused to serve. I just can not reconcile those two facts. Under special provisions of the National Guard – Sean could still serve. Or, he could embed with a unit for a few months as a civilian. Nope. Not Sean. Sean cannot even bring himself to criticize congress from 2000 to 2006. Biggest spending ever – but Sean writes that off to…………….something. Can’t we all just get together and bash Hannity? Now that would be fun.

What must one (especially the ONE writing this) do to get participation on One’s blog? I have thought about trading stamps – but they seem out of fashion. Money? Forget that.
