Those who want to attend the ceremony should contact their local member of Congress to request tickets. The viewing area will stretch from the Capitol along the Mall. Some more distant parts of the viewing area will not require tickets and probably will be served by huge video screens.

Congressional staffers said Friday that there were reports of advertisements on the Internet selling inaugural tickets for hundreds of dollars each.
Help Barack win Michigan!

By now, you've probably heard the news that John McCain is scaling back his campaign in Michigan. But, the Michigan Obama campaign is not slowing down one bit, and needs your help more than ever! Michigan has a history of elections being decided in the final weeks before Election Day, and polls here are known to swing dramatically in the last days before the election. While polls currently show Senator Obama in the lead in Michigan, we all know how volatile polling can be - and how important it is to keep our momentum going in Michigan.

Sarah Palin said it herself on Fox News Friday: "I want to get back to Michigan, and I want to try." Michigan's Lt. Governor John Cherry, a veteran of Michigan politics, predicts McCain's announcement will lead" to a flurry of anti-Obama spending by independent groups." The McCain campaign may be pulling out of Michigan, but their supporters aren't giving up. Michigan's Republican Party is redoubling its own efforts to elect John McCain, which is why it's so important to keep our focus on Michigan so we can ensure it votes for Senator Obama on November 4.

Come to Michigan to help keep this critically important battleground state in the Obama column on Election Day! With only a month until the election, there's never been a more important time than now to get involved. From knocking on doors to making phone calls, you can make the difference in this vital swing state. To get involved, visit mi.barackobama.com/cometomi, or contact Derek Dobies at 734-740-6698.

"Sarah Palin Gender Card" video from The Daily Show

If you haven't seen this clip from The Daily Show yet, watch it. Unlike the McCain-Palin ticket, it's a winner, with 2,750,000 views so far on ComedyCentral.com.

Sarah Palin Gender Card (video clip, ~5 minutes)

Democracy is not a spectator sport. We can't afford to lose another election!

Today: I made five calls for the campaign, got two people to watch the Sarah Palin video above, and got someone (very special!) to donate to MoveOn.org's GOTV efforts to register 500,000 new young voters.

Don't just complain, join the campaign!

According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 28 hours of TV each week. If you haven't yet volunteered to help the campaign, can you find one hour a week to help Obama win this election? C'mon, just one hour a week?

You can use this web site to locate volunteer opportunities and activities.

How about writing a short letter to the editor of your newspaper? Reference one of their recent articles on the campaign or a candidate, and tell the editor what you think of it. You can do this from home in 20 minutes.

You could take a friend or family member and spend a couple hours on a Saturday afternoon helping register voters. It's fun and rewarding.

Not working? Sign up to be a Nov. 4 election judge in a local precinct.

Two evenings a week, spend 30 minutes making phone calls for the campaign.

Get involved through MoveOn.org. I've volunteered with them on two previous elections. They are very well organized.

Attend a rally or potluck for Obama with other people in your area.

Think of what is at stake here. There are tons of different ways you can help. So come on, pick one and just do it. Every single volunteer makes a difference, and together we can change this country for the better by putting Barack Obama in the White House.

Democracy is not a spectator sport. With your help, Yes We Can win this election!
