Blocked Bloggers? Discussion Post

Just read this post a while ago: http://markcrispinmiller.com/2009/08/att-blocking-dissidents/ about a blogger who was denied access to certain sites during the 2004-2005 elections. Well then, the block was due to his ISP, AT&T, that required him to use an annonymous proxy to get to his sites.

Anyway, is there a pattern here? People like JFK Fan and Taz gets put down while hacker blogs take free reign of the Community Blogs. Strange blocks, take downs, and post blocking (blog posts that fail to show up) on the Community Blogs, and the final blow with the shut down of the Community Blogs, well, could this be a pattern to a complete Internet shutdown?! Like a Prison Planet?

Something to think about.

This vid was one I found on a site called Deprogram.net. The vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoA3wHi9iDE, is by a guy from the Center for Global Research known as Michel Chossudovsky. He argues that the current policies + TARP will eat up almost all of the US's GDP (which I've heard is more a service economy rather than a manufacturing economy).

What's your take on this vid after watching it?

If we have a loan or credit card payment that has to be paid, how do we -- as individuals -- get the money to pay it back? What happens if we -- as individuals -- can't pay it back?

Now, what happens when the U.S. has to repay it, what could happen? How does the money to pay it back the debt earned? What if the debt cannot be paid back?

Something's really weird when Dr. Paul can't buy a new car...

No, I'm serious! Dr. Ron Paul (I can't stop laughing!) said he can't buy a car because of uncertainty in the auto industry!

Even though the irony of Dr. Paul needs a car and can't buy one because he's unsure of the auto industry's long run and how the current financial policy is affecting him are funny, the current financial policies aren't something to laugh at. I'm getting nervous since the low of gasoline in my area was around $1.45/gal circa mid-November, it's now $1.96/gal. Yeah, I could've made a few Deal or No Deal or The Price Is Right jokes, but I know that it took me about 14 mos in 2005-6 to buy the used car that I have, and I hated the fact that someone had to cosign the loan because I didn't carry credit cards at the time! (I don't like carrying them, or having to worry about the interest payments! Stupid credit "economy!") So, I can understand Dr. Paul's frustration in his car-buying decision! Maybe The Suze Orman Show could help, but I don't know if Dr. Paul needs that kind of financial advice, but it depends on how bad his old car is doing.

As I said, something's really weird when Dr. Paul can't buy a new car.

I ran accross the 3/15/09 60 Minutes show online, http://beta.sling.com/video/show/130320/87/60-Minutes,-031509, and I find the show pretty interesting, though Bernanke doesn't go through the entire history of the FRS. (I won't go through all of it here, but there are plenty of links and sources about the full story, if you're willing to know. Remember, Woodrow Wilson regretted creating the FRS).

About Bernanke's policies, though, IMO, he's either fooling himself or he's a pretty shrewd actor, as he seems emotionless throughout the piece (or it could be the editing).

It could be global warming, or even the solar system heating up (Yes, apparently, it's not just the Earth that's heating up, http://www.livescience.com/environment/070312_solarsys_warming.html.), but this guy, who's not a college undergrad, has his own opinion about Bernanke's policies: http://capitalbeat.com/?p=2647.

Uh, why is all of this talk about the FRS and its policies becoming so popular on the MSM now, even though it's been all over the indy media for years?

I know that a few people were interested on the status of GA HB 430, so here's an update.

Yeah, its from C4L, but it's worth a look.

Apparently, the bill is stuck in committee, and the committee chairs, Rep. Calvin Hill, Chairman of the Financial Institutions & Services Subcommittee, and Rep. Mike Coan, Chairman of the Regulations & Oversight Subcommittee, did not allow the bill to come up for discussion, though the article says that they promised to do so.

That's all the info I have on the status of the bill.

One thing for everyone to know, hearing the two of them combined is funny, but it reminds me of people going after each other on the show, Yomamma. (Look, both of them are talking about drinking coffee while criticizing sarcastically each others' opinions about the housing plan.)

Both of them bring VALID POINTS THAT *EVERYBODY* NEEDS TO CONSIDER!!! Disagree with me if you like, but how they are going about it seems immature.

Another point, I am critical about the MSM's influence on issues and opinions, and I've made this really clear on many of my pre-election posts. Also, due to the biasing that the MSM has done, it is understandable that Obama's staff have been really edgy. However, in this case, the concerns from people like Santelli are from a point of view that happened to start off as off the mainstream, but it managed to become a signal that the MSM is paying attention to on its radar!

In my opinion, I am happy that Rep. Paul's supporters are getting some well-deserved MSM coverage, but also, that Pres. Obama is also doing what he can under the stressfull and intimidating conditions he has been going through.

HOWEVER, ONE THING MUST BE KEPT IN MIND, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT YOU SUPPORT OBAMA OR PAUL OR ANYONE ELSE, MAINSTREAM OR OTHERWISE: THE MSM, OR CORPORATE MEDIA LOVES IT WHEN A DEBATE OVER AN ISSUE DISSOLVES INTO A HISSY FIT BECAUSE IT MAKES GOOD RATINGS, AND THE SUPPORTERS OF EITHER SIDE BECOME SO POLARIZED INTO SUPPORTING THEIR PERSON OR ISSUE THAT THEY BECOME UNWILLING TO HEAR THE OTHER SIDE OUT, WHICH IS ALSO WHAT THE COPORATE LEADERS WANT IN ORDER TO KEEP THE *TRUTH* OF THE SITUATION SILENT!!!!!

I know that some MyBO members may disagree with me, while people who are C4L members that casually read MyBO might take my post as ridiculous, but granted that there are bills like HR 645 that are out there that no one is paying attention to, and there are several other events called out on blogs like MyBO and C4L, it would be nice that people remember to actually calmly and open-mindedly speak to each other.

Because it requires open and honest discussion and the issues at hand are worth looking into, I say that it is necessary that supporters from MyBO and supporters from C4L, as well as supporters from other sites have an open dialogue about this before we become too polarized!

Agree or disagree, but this is my opinion based on my observations on the video links.

YES I read the entire link I posted (took me just over an hour) and it just seems to me that everything cut was everything Obama promised to keep, and everything kept was what Obama was against when he was running.
OK so my actual question after all of this is this: Why are we cutting sciences yet throwing hundreds of billions of dollars towards the military still (see article X in the linked article.) I'm not an economist, I just noticed a very ugly trend in the above documents and would like someone with a bit more economic experience to explain (please!)

Why didn't they make MyBO an independent blog (see the part called, sarcastically, "Jetsons vs Flintstones") is beyond me, but the MSM playing their games, as usual, it's no wonder why there seems to be a communication issue. (Though I think some debate and analysis of the stimulus package is necessary, but many of you won't agree.)

Anyway, blogs and news reports are talking about Cheney mentioning that the "country's in danger" over and over again, but what's he up to really...HR 645? Is California's situation one of his ideas for getting that bill to pass?

Pay attention to these bills, including HR 645:

IRS Revisions: HR 161, HR 162, & HR 779

Stop the Congressional Pay Raise Act: HR 156

Federal Reserve Abolition Act: HR 111

Now this one's not really important, but this is one is fun to look at: HR 778.

I know that President-Elect Obama has been pretty tight-lipped about his cabinet proposals, but MSNBC has put out some names, though they may not be officially from Obama himself.

Frankly, if you have any better recommendations, feel free to post a reply and tell me why.

Seriously, we don't want to have a lousy, greedy, trigger-happy Cabinet!

Also, how do you think we can get these recommendations to him? I'm not sure he'll be reading these blogs much righ now.

(On a side note, there's some interesting Lieberman developments, for those who are interested.)

P.S.: Keep reading up on all the issues from as many sources as you can, and don't be afraid of seeing a diversity of opinions on the matter, as the best solutions will come from that diversity of thought. Besides, Obama needs a Cabinet with a diversity of thought as well as a diversity of party/field/background.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Citigroup agreed to buy troubled Wachovia's banking operations in a deal Monday that gives the US government a stake in another sector shakeup amid the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

The government-engineered rescue marked further consolidation of the struggling US banking sector saddled with heavy losses from the bursting of the real estate bubble and a related credit crunch.

It came as Wachovia, the fourth-largest US bank by assets, faced a near collapse of its share price and weakening confidence because of its exposure to the subprime mortgage crisis.

The Wachovia takeover was unveiled just hours before the US House of Representatives rejected a massive 700-billion-dollar bailout of financial firms, roiling markets.

The tentative Wall Street bailout agreement was struck Sunday after intense negotiations between President George W. Bush's administration and Republican and Democratic Congressional leaders.

The Bush administration insisted the rescue of financial firms exposed to toxic mortgage investments was crucial to avert a wider economic collapse.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), which insures and regulates banks, said in announcing the Citigroup takeover that Wachovia "did not fail."

Under the takeover agreement, the government will obtain a stake in Citigroup, which will become the country's largest US bank by total deposits, in exchange for guaranteeing a large portion of the distressed Wachovia assets linked to housing.

Citigroup will pay 2.16 billion dollars in stock to Wachovia and assume the senior and subordinated debt of Wachovia Corporation, the companies said.

New York-based Citigroup will assume up to 42 billion dollars of losses from a pool of 312 billion dollars of loans held by Wachovia; the FDIC will absorb losses beyond that.

In exchange, Citigroup granted the FDIC 12 billion dollars in preferred stock and warrants to compensate the agency for bearing this risk.

Citigroup said it expected to raise 10 billion dollars in common shares to help finance the transaction.

Standard & Poor's said it was placing both companies on CreditWatch with negative implications.

The merger agreement with Wachovia in itself does not add materially to Citigroup's risk "because it is structured essentially as an acquisition of a 'clean' bank, S&P said in a statement," the credit agency said.

Shares in Citigroup slumped 11.9 percent to 17.75 dollars in a massive late selloff on Wall Street after the House vote that dragged the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 777.68 points, the biggest one-day point drop ever.

Wachovia shares became nearly worthless, plunging 81 percent to 1.84 dollars.

Citigroup said the acquisition would create a leading retail bank with a 9.8 percent share of US market deposits, and total deposits of 1.3 trillion dollars. Wachovia had 812 billion dollars in assets at the end of June.

The takeover was orchestrated with the Federal Reserve and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, in consultation with Bush, the FDIC said.

"A failure of Wachovia would have posed a systemic risk," Paulson said.

Shares in Wachovia had lost 73 percent of their value in a year and were plummeting in recent days as investors feared there would be a panic run on the beleaguered bank, as had occurred to its rival, savings and loan bank Washington Mutual.

WaMu was seized by the government and sold to investment bank JPMorgan Chase late Thursday in what was the biggest-ever US bank failure.

"Following the collapse of Washington Mutual last week, it is assumed that wary depositors pulled funds out of Wachovia, sparking the need for the sale," analysts at Briefing.com said.

The FDIC noted that Wachovia depositors were "fully protected" under its federal guarantee of bank deposits up to 100,000 dollars and the transaction was not expected to cost the Deposit Insurance Fund.

Under the agreement, Citigroup will acquire the bulk of the Charlotte, North Carolina-based Wachovia's assets and liabilities, including five depository institutions and assume senior and subordinated debt.

Wachovia Corp. will remain a public company with two main operating subsidiaries: brokerage firm Wachovia Securities and Evergreen Asset Management.

The transaction is expected to close before year-end. It has been approved by directors of both companies and is subject to shareholder approval of Wachovia and the appropriate regulatory approvals.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

A BILL

To abolish the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks, to repeal the Federal Reserve Act, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the `Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act’.

SEC. 2. FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD ABOLISHED.

(a) In General- Effective at the end of the 1-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and each Federal reserve bank are hereby abolished.

(b) Repeal of Federal Reserve Act- Effective at the end of the 1-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, the Federal Reserve Act is hereby repealed.

(1) MANAGEMENT DURING DISSOLUTION PERIOD- During the 1-year period referred to in subsection (a), the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System–

(A) shall, for the sole purpose of winding up the affairs of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks–

(i) manage the employees of the Board and each such bank and provide for the payment of compensation and benefits of any such employee which accrue before the position of such employee is abolished; and

(ii) manage the assets and liabilities of the Board and each such bank until such assets and liabilities are liquidated or assumed by the Secretary of the Treasury in accordance with this subsection; and

(B) may take such other action as may be necessary, subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Treasury, to wind up the affairs of the Board and the Federal reserve banks.

(2) LIQUIDATION OF ASSETS-

(A) IN GENERAL- The Director of the Office of Management and Budget shall liquidate all assets of the Board and the Federal reserve banks in an orderly manner so as to achieve as expeditious a liquidation as may be practical while maximizing the return to the Treasury.

(B) TRANSFER TO TREASURY- After satisfying all claims against the Board and any Federal reserve bank which are accepted by the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and redeeming the stock of such banks, the net proceeds of the liquidation under subparagraph (A) shall be transferred to the Secretary of the Treasury and deposited in the General Fund of the Treasury.

(3) ASSUMPTION OF LIABILITIES- All outstanding liabilities of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks at the time such entities are abolished, including any liability for retirement and other benefits for former officers and employees of the Board or any such bank in accordance with employee retirement and benefit programs of the Board and any such bank, shall become the liability of the Secretary of the Treasury and shall be paid from amounts deposited in the general fund pursuant to paragraph (2) which are hereby appropriated for such purpose until all such liabilities are satisfied.

(d) Report- At the end of the 18-month period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of the Treasury and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget shall submit a joint report to the Congress containing a detailed description of the actions taken to implement this Act and any actions or issues relating to such implementation that remain uncompleted or unresolved as of the date of the report.

Watching the speech[sic] last night was showing me nothing new from anything last week. I agree more with what Suze Orman said on Oprah two days ago concerning the current situation, though I also suspect other things. (I've had several posts on the economy in my blog). And frankly, I don't think that the government buying anymore financial properties and/or mortgages (except the Fed, IMO) will stabilize anything. Buying up the stuff, including the debt will only permit another crash like this one to recur.

Besides, I have other questions as well: Assuming the bailout goes through...

What would happen to taxes?
What would happen to the programs like Medicare or the Pell Grant?
What would happen to the environment?
What would happen in the event of another natural disaster?
Would any candidates' policies, regardless of party afilliation, be implemented once electeded?
Are there any other factors besides what has been publicized that contributed to the current situation?
How would this affect someone who needs medical care for heart disease? autism? Parkinsons? major depression? osteoporosis-related injuries?
How would it benefit or hurt us? Would this affect any Constitutional issues?

Too many crazy things have been going on! I don't profess to know it all, though.

JACKSON, Georgia (CNN) -- Troy Anthony Davis has long said he didn't kill a Savannah, Georgia, police officer, and the U.S. Supreme Court will decide Tuesday whether to postpone his 7 p.m. ET execution.

Troy Anthony Davis, 39, says he did not kill a Georgia police officer; he is to die Tuesday.

Davis, 39, was convicted in 1991 of killing Officer Mark MacPhail as MacPhail responded to an altercation in a Burger King parking lot.

Seven of nine witnesses who initially testified that Davis was the killer have recanted. There was no physical evidence presented at his trial, and no weapon was found.

But Davis' petitions for a new trial have been denied.

If Davis is executed by lethal injection, he will be the 43rd inmate put to death by the state since 1973.

On Tuesday, Davis refused his last meal, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections, which will still provide him with macaroni and cheese, pinto beans, green beans, lettuce and tomato salad, corn bread, fruit cobbler and tea.

Many have asked Georgia to grant Davis a new trial: celebrities like Susan Sarandon, Harry Belafonte and the Indigo Girls; world leaders such as former President Carter, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Pope Benedict XVI; and former and current U.S. lawmakers like Bob Barr, Carolyn Moseley Braun and John Lewis.

Amnesty International has issued a 39-page report questioning his conviction, and protesters have been gathering at the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta this week. Davis is scheduled to be executed at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson.

MacPhail's mother, Anneliese MacPhail of Columbus, said last week that she is "disgusted" by the calls to spare Davis' life and is not convinced by Davis' supporters' claims that there is a more likely suspect.

On Tuesday, Anneliese MacPhail said, "There is no possibility he's innocent, not according to what's been said in court.

"Troy Davis was judged by his peers. All the courts have found him guilty. It was proven he was guilty. Please let us have some peace. Let Mark rest in peace. Let justice be done," she said.

Davis' sister, Martina Correia, said she was sleepless Monday night and was spending Tuesday at his side. She said she planned to stay until prison officials told her to leave at 3 p.m.

"We are still holding on to hope," she said Tuesday morning. "We still hope the U.S. Supreme Court will look into my brother's case and give some relief. We will have a lot of family time with him and recall old times and pray together."

The Georgia Supreme Court turned down the plea for a stay in Davis' execution Monday, saying the U.S. Supreme Court "properly has jurisdiction over Davis' pending petition."

The Supreme Court called an emergency session to hear the petition.

Davis was convicted of MacPhail's 1989 murder largely on the testimony of nine witnesses.

"When you only have eyewitness testimony and you have no physical evidence, people have fallacies and people make mistakes," Correia said.

Davis' lawyers and supporters say this is a case of mistaken identity. Seven of the nine trial witnesses have changed their statements, saying they were mistaken. Some say they feared retribution from the man they say actually killed MacPhail or that police pressured them into fingering Davis.

During the trial, witnesses said Davis and two other men were harassing a homeless man and followed him across the street from a parking lot at the Greyhound bus station in Savannah.

MacPhail was off-duty. He saw the skirmish and ran over to break up the fight. MacPhail was shot, and witnesses told police Davis fired the two shots that killed him.

A manhunt ensued. Davis surrendered nine days later.

Monty Holmes is one of the witnesses who said Davis was the culprit. He has changed his story and alleges that police coerced him.

"They were trying to get to me to say that he did it, but I know he didn't do it," Holmes said last year at a rally for Davis.

Savannah police Maj. Everett Ragan headed the MacPhail investigation. He denies allegations of coercion and said he doesn't believe the witnesses who have changed their stories.

Shortly before Davis was scheduled to be executed last year, Ragan told CNN, "There is no doubt in my mind we arrested the right man."

Davis had visitation with family members until 3 p.m. Tuesday and is undergoing a routine physical. At 4 p.m., he will be offered his last meal, followed by an offer to make a recorded last statement at 5 p.m.

According to the Department of Corrections Office of Public Affairs, Davis will be offered ativan, a mild sedative, at 6 p.m. and will be executed one hour later. His remains will then be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's crime lab for a routine autopsy before being released to his family.

The Georgia Supreme Court also was unimpressed with the witnesses' new stories. In affirming the trial court's judgment in a 4-3 decision, the majority said that the witnesses' new testimony failed to meet the necessary benchmark: that their original testimony "in every material part is purest fabrication."

The court also was unconvinced by allegations that one of the men Davis was with that night, Sylvester "Red" Coles, killed MacPhail.

In a telephone interview in 2007, Davis acknowledged that he never told police that Coles killed MacPhail.

"I didn't because I didn't want to be a snitch," Davis said. "Yes, I know that's stupid."

Coles has never been charged with the murder and, according to court documents, has testified at least twice that he was not the killer.

Davis' lawyers claim that there are other people who saw what happened that night. Those witnesses have never testified in court but have submitted affidavits, the attorneys say.

On Monday, the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles said it typically does not comment on clemency appeals but defended itself because Davis' case has received such widespread attention. The statement noted that the board postponed Davis' execution last year and has studied the case for a year.

"After an exhaustive review of all available information regarding the Troy Davis case and after considering all possible reasons for granting clemency, the board has determined that clemency is not warranted," the statement said.

Anneliese MacPhail said she has attended every court hearing for Davis and made an appearance before the parole board this month.

But if the execution moves forward, the slain officer's mother will not accompany her grandson -- MacPhail's son, Mark Jr. -- to Jackson to watch Davis die. MacPhail's wife, Joan, will not attend the execution, either, she said.

"This was my son," Anneliese MacPhail said. "You can't imagine the hell we have been through."

I used a quote by John Quincy Adams our 6th President, that goes "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." I used it to describe Barack but last night it fit Michelle as well. I know by some of the speeches that I have heard from Michelle that she is a very intelligent and strong woman. I had no idea that she was also so warm and genuine.

Just as her husband Barack is able to bring me to tears with his sincerity and determination for change so can his wife. I can't believe that I am a part of this historic and powerful movement. It is almost unbelieveable. They really have shown that they are a down to earth family just like you and I, the futures of our children are determined by our choice in November! Lets not let each other down lets rally together, lets make it happen! Go out and talk with people register new voters, If you do nothing else, get out there and vote in November. Lets show our Government what we are made of. ,No more fooling us, we want the truth, level with us. We can handle it! We'll have a leader who will help us help ourselves! Yes we Can! Yes we Will! We are who we've been waiting for! I am under no delusion, I know that one man in the Whte House can't change many things, but the voices, names, hearts and minds that he inspires and motivates can make changes and will do just that!

Resonance: Reading parts of myself in articles about Obama's past.

I don't know how many people are going to see this, but after reading these Newsweek articles, I feel like I am reading parts of my own past, and I nearly cried.

Senator, I understand some of these personal battles that you have gone/been going through, but -- and this is from my personal experience and understanding -- remember, your conscience and your faith (I won't prosletize any particlular religion) is the key to fighting these battles, especially now. I am still working on that!

The articles I read were: On His Own (Seven Pages) and 'I had to learn to fight.'

After reading these articles, it's like I am seeing a reflection of myself, especially with some of his personal struggles and his identity struggles!

I don't know if this post will reach Sen. Obama, or anyone else for this matter, but I felt compelled to post this, as what I had read in those articles were in resonance with me.

If you've got issues that feel the country isn't being addressed, no matter how "crazy" people perceive them, this might be an interesting opportunity.

Well, it should be about uniting the country anyway...

The platform may be an opportunity to address grievances and show some of the issues that the MSM aren't showing us... (See this Florida ruling concerning a reporter who wanted to report a story: FL Second District Court of Appeal, Case No. 2D01-529. I don't think people watching the MSM are getting the whole story about issues these days.)

Well, I may be reaching here, but the platform idea is a clever idea by Obama.

One Blogger's Observations and Opinions on FISA Replies: Dissent and Community Activism.

To all bloggers:

I really enjoyed reading the various views and dissenting opinions on Joe Rospar's blog: Response from Barack on FISA and Discussion with Policy Staff, and I believe that almost all of them, whether they be from Obama supporters, McCain supporters, Nader supporters, Barr supporters, old bloggers, new bloggers, "trolls," etc, have been very important on this long-overdue discourse on the matter. In fact, I wish more issues like this were handled in debates that the MSM seemed to overlook until now.

However, later responses seemed to denigrate to more of an ad hominem attack on other responses, even on ones with informative dissenting views.

From these responses, we have a lot to learn about ourselves, as individuals, as supporters of any candidate, as citizens, and as people concerned with our civil and Consitutional rights, liberties, and freedoms, as well as about our concerns about our health, prosperity, safety, and (maybe) sovereignty. I could also say, in my opinion, these responses show how much we, as bloggers (in general), and possibly as the general public, really understand all of these issues.

Before I go on, watch the video on Christopher Hass' blog: Video: Barack on Service: "I am asking you to change history's course." At the end of the video, Obama has left the act of advocacy to us.

I would like to add that this is not just an election of a President. Someone on the Rospar blog shared this YouTube link, which is a good reminder for us about division, though logical and thoughtful dissenting views are important in bringing policies that will not sacrifice our rights, liberties, and freedoms.

Besides, community activism is hard to do alone. (It reminds me of the lyrics of Linkin Park's "By Myself," which expresses the difficulty in dealing with a difficult situation concerning activism and the situations each choice in the matter faces.) Community activism and advocacy will take the efforts of many people taking the time to learn about the issues and their relationships, as well as being willing to listen to the dissenting views of others or else there may be nothing left afterward.

My intention is to bring up an observation of personal opinion of the responses to the Rospar blog concerning FISA as well as recommend a few blogs and videos to watch.

I hope that ObamaHQ will allow for more HQblogs like the one Joe Rospars brought up. These will be better for everyone in the long run. I don't like "trolls," but the Rospars blog opened the discussion up so that, hopefully, everyone could provide their views on an issue, that for once, is worthy of discussion.

Please take this as one blogger's observation and opinion.

McCain is so vague

You know, it really bothers me to hear people say things like, "Obama is just making promises without saying how he's going to deliver", or, "Obama doesn't give enough specifics."

It bothers me for two reasons. First of all, Obama has elaborated on his policy positions in depth, especially over the last month. I seriously doubt that the people who criticize Obama for not being specific have ever listened to him speak for more than five minutes.

The real problem here is the corporate media. Most people in this country don't follow politics, and what they know is usually disctated from CNN, NBC, or Fox News. Sadly, these news outlets only focus on 15-second sound bytes, and seldom put words into contezt.

It would be wonderful if we could have regular segments elaborating on the candidates' stated policy positions on various issues, but instead we get talking heads shouting at each other about flag lapels and loud-mouthed preachers.

The other thing that really bothers me about this is that John McCain is INCREDIBLY vague when he talks about his plans. For example, the latest campaign commercial that McCain is running feature a series of statements like "When John McCain is President, the economy will be stronger, more robust. Energy cheaper, more affordable. America will be safer" etc. Not ONE actual explanation of how he's going to accomplish this, just a bunch of empty statements. When McCain delivered that speech where he paitned a picture of what America will be like in 2013 after his imaginary first term. He laid out promise after promise, going to such lengths to say that Bin Laden would be captured and the Iraq war would be won, without saying a word about how.

And yet some people have the nerve to say that Obama is vague.

I cannot wait until the first debate.

p.s.- Rick Sanchez on CNN is a tool, and I don't like the way he smiles when talking about people being brutally murdered as if he were talking about a rollerskating monkey. He just called a news story about an Indian man who was just sentenced to life in prison for hiring someone to kill his daughter-in-law because she was black "an amazing story."

Ok, dude, it's great that you ything this is interesting, but suppress your smile. This isn't a mystery novel, it's peoples' lives.

What is ICE?

More and more fingers are pointing at one of the least-known but most powerful foreign exchanges - the InterContinental Exchange, or ICE.

By the end of 2007, the all-electronic exchange accounted for nearly a 50 percent market share of all global oil futures contracts, a total of 138.5 million contracts - up 49 percent from 2006.

Why are the founders including banks?

Today it boasts more than 2,100 individual traders representing virtually all of the major players in oil - banks, hedge funds, energy companies, investment giants.

And according to a securities filing, two of those giants, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, were founding partners of ICE. [Emphasies added]

I'm aware of a lot of other factors, like an increase in global demand, war, OPEC, etc., but...

He recently told Congress that speculation is placing a huge premium on the price of oil.

"How much per barrel?" Keteyian asked.

"Well, there have been various estimates - anywhere from 25 percent to 50 percent," Greenberger said.

"The fact that they started this shows the intent of where they wanted to go," Greenberger said. "Which was to trade crude oil and energy products without any police in the United States supervising it."

That's because it's considered a foreign exchange. Taking advantage of a loophole created by the CFTC, the company says its "energy futures business" is conducted in London, it is not subject to U.S. laws. Over strong criticism, the CFTC agreed.

All this despite the fact ICE headquarters are on the fifth floor of a building in Atlanta, it's primary data center in Chicago, and nearly all its trades settled in U.S. dollars.

I don't know if this could occur in the House of Representatives, and whether or not the Democrats or the Republicans will ever let this out of the House Judiciary Committee (Check my reply to my post on Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment to see why I'm saying Democrates AND Republicans.) but the video link shows some of the politicking that goes on in Congress where the MSM isn't covering that!

Two Recommendations for Obama WH Advisors, with Advice.

I think that Jimmy Carter and Mike Gravel should be advisors in your WH cabinet, Sen. Obama. Carter will be extremely helpful for Middle Eastern policy, even though you disagree with him. Also, Mike Gravel is not likely to run political office again, so why not have someone who is also concerned for civil liberties be an advisor for you?

Also, Sen. Obama, I've heard a lot MSM stories trying to do a PR campaign for HRC. I can't make you do anything, but I know you have other choices, even though the MSM doesn't cover the other options.

If you can stand up to Sen. Lieberman, you can stand up to the MSM and all the groups that influence the MSM! Don't sacrifice what you stand for by doing the easy thing! Special interests are just trying to "buy" their way into your policy, even if the currency isn't monetary! In the end, remember the people you visited while you were out on your campaign: from small towns cafes and shops, to inner-city schools and homes, to rurual community colleges, and inbetween. I know you had to deal with these "power players" since your time in Chicago, but you know what, you are now in a position, as difficult as it may be, to break this dependence on it and truly represent the people!

Take your time, and remember why you entered politics in the first place -- working people!

Right now, I am watching the CBS Evening News, and I have been seeing it on MSNBC and CNN, you, the corporate media, are desperately trying to promote HRC for VP.

Now look: you, the coporate media, are supposed to report the news, not to report spin.

I sincerely hope that the HRC supporters will come to Sen. Obama because he is a genuine person who continued to stay on message, even with all the controversies[sic] you, the corporate media, brought upon Sen. Obama since the March 4 primaries. I am well aware that you, the corporate media, have more in store for him after the votes are counted in Montana and South Dakota, and I have this point:

I have observed Obama and I have seen the sincere desire to bring change and stand up against the special interests and the coporations they represent!

I recommend that you, the coporate media start to bring up issues that affect the people by talking about NAFTA, the economy, civil liberties, and health care.

I dare the you, the corporate media, to report on these bills:

Again, I ask -- no, I demand -- in the interest of fairness to Sen. Obama, if you are going to report about the possible VP options, that you, the corporate media, should recognize that Sen. Obama has more than HRC to consider.

In addition, I ask -- no, I demand -- in the interest of fairness to all people of all faiths, that you, the corporate media, keep religion and politics separate, and if you will report on the opinions of a pastor for any reason, you will cite the entire sermon without spin.

Furthermore, I ask -- no, I demand -- in the interest of free speech that you, the coporate media, report on issues that have been underreported, like the bills that I have just mentioned.

Frankly, it is time that independent media, and the Internet should be recognized for its democratizing potential and a medium for free speech, and I believe that all media should be nonprofit. Enough is enough!

Alright! A lot of us don't want HRC for VP, so who do you want for VP and why?

Just as the title suggests, who do you want to see for Obama's VP and why.

Give the following:

Who s/he is
Party affiliation (for me any party is okay, or someone who is nonpartisan, too)
What they bring to the table

I know the nomination isn't over, yet, but since HRC is willing to consider a convention fight (just check out MSNBC or Google your news site of choice) and since quite a few have said that they don't want HRC to be VP (disclosure: I also don't want HRC for VP), I think discussing this now would be a way for people to think this over.

Furthermore, you can suggest people for other positions, like for secretary of whatever and/or as an advisor to Obama, and don't worry about party affiliation! Any party or someone with no party affiliation is acceptable.

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten that the nomination is still going on! Getting VP ideas at this stage is a good idea right now, since tomorrow is the last day of primaries (I hope).

Today seems to be a long and emotional day for the Obama family. Also, HRC and a lot of her die-hard supporters (those who are unwilling to support Obama), as well as the corporate media (a.k.a. the MSM) will fight long and hard to back Obama into a corner to make him do something that is not in the interests of the people.

The Obamas need our help with prayer and assistance. If you can call, call. If you can blog, blog. Also, don't be afraid to post issues that are not covered by the corporate media, as they are very important and we may not be aware of them. Furthermore, if you have any campaign strategy advice for ObamaHQ, or any policy advice, give them to Sen. Obama now!

Tomorrow is PR and Tuesday is MT & SD. So without any shenanigans (I've found some on YouTube, and this is not how Obama wants to win this campaign), let's get as many delegates as possible so that we can MOVE ON to the general election!

Obama would be a great president, even if he ran as an independent!

Hey guys,

The last month has been really busy for me. I have been out of town for a while, which was, unfortunately, during a critical time for Sen. Obama. Seems he's been doing okay, however.

I'm going to be off-and-on for a while, just to let you know.

I've been reading the blogs of and on, but if there's any intersting news out there since my last post, let me know.

Oh, something interesting happened with the Libertarian party: Bob Barr is their nominee, and he picked Wayne Allen Root for VP. (It may be a bit late.) Also, it seems like Mike Gravel may not be in politics much longer.

However, I'd like to see Gravel be an advisor for Obama in the WH, especially since he is about civil liberties. It may be premature to think about this, but it's an idea to throw out there. (I've copied the article in the Extended Post).

Distractions, HRC, RNC, & the MSM: A Strategic Relationship? Suggestions.

Hey guys:

Haven't you noticed since the March 4 primaries the following "distractions:" Rezko, NAFTA, "3 AM," Rev. Wright's "comments," the "Ayers" association, and now the NC RNC ad?

Do you guys recall how quickly Obama overtook HRC before March 4 in several primaries, especially with Super Tuesday (Feb 5)?

Notice the "strategy?"

Keep these questions in mind while I make my case.

Earlier, with my open letter to the ObamaBloggers, I mentioned the following concerning the MSM, HRC, and older/rural & small-town/less-educated voters:

After last night's primary, I was really frustrated. The MSM and HRC are using psychology to manipulate less-educated and older voters, especially late-deciding voters, as many of them seem to rely on the MSM for their information, into voting HRC by continuously forcing Obama to answer questions which are really "distractions" as he put it. And it shows! It will take more research into the matter, but I recommend reading this Anderson Cooper Blog, as apparently, this psychological manipulation is get them to research the distractions associated with Obama than about Obama's message. As far as this is concerned, we have to take this into account, and encourage them to educate themselves with info outside the MSM (from the blogs by ~Wanda~).

Then this morning, I was reading last night's Open Thread, and I ran accross Stephen Rose's comments, and the following information contained in the links he brought through his Blogger page were irking me:

Hannity Debate Instructions to Stephanopoulos: Apparently, Stephanopoulous got the idea to ask Obama questions about Ayers by Hannity, as cited to at Think Progress, and as you may have noticed, the MSM are already making "reports" about Ayers, especially about comments that were taken out out context, like Rev. Wrights' comments were, even when Ayers explained the context of the comments already.

Next, I recalled my reply to a blog asking about the weak support for Obama by small-town America by 4Seasons:

Most small-town Americans may rely on the MSM for most of their information, and are older, so they may be more trusting of what the MSM will have to say, and will base their searches on what they understand of Obama via the MSM.

This is bad because there is a general bias favoring HRC (Remember the debate @ ABC?) and/or the Republicans (though I don't have evidence with the MSM/Republican or the HRC/Republican association) by the MSM.

We may need to do small group talks like the one Obama did in PA: Link.

We need to make sure that small-town IN & NC folk are educated on the issues as well as their background and interrelationships, without overwhelming them with a lecture. It will take the IN & NC HQ & volunteers to pull that off since Obama can only do so many of them. Furthermore, we have to encourage the small-town IN & NC folk to look up information about Obama in a *positive* context and via *non-mainstream, independent* media.

So I realized, it's been HRC's strategy, and possibly the RNC's to use the MSM via their connections to influence older/lesser-educated/small-town and rural voters to vote for HRC by using these well-timed "distractions" to dissuade voters from listening to Obama's story as well as his message. They simply capitalized on the fact that Obama's campaign has to spend time and energy answering the charges in order to keep the campaign viable during the Democratic nomination! Meanwhile, HRC and the RNC, using the MSM are busy spinning the Democratic nomination toward HRC's favor. That doesn't even consider all the hidden controversies concerning HRC, and the fact that Stephanopoulous was formerly a member of Bill Clinton's White House.

Here are a few reasons why the MSM may have a stronger influence on older/lesser-educated/small-town & rural voters:

These voters are located in areas where they have fewer local news sources and they have a slower Internet, so they rely on what the MSM have to say in order to make their comparisons on Obama and HRC. Guess what they are watching?
In addition to having a slower Internet, these communities cannot afford to invest in faster Internet connections and fewer people have computers in order to surf for information by independent sources.
Most HQ's are located in cities and suburban areas and most of us are younger and more highly educated.

So, what should ObamaHQ do, as well as us?

Well, I'm glad to see that ObamaHQ is blogging about ObamaWorks, which is one group I recommend joining, if you are able to. Having ObamaWorks groups in small towns and rural areas will show voters in these areas by example what Obama's message is all about!

Furthermore, I recommend, if you are able to, applying for Obama's Organizing Fellows will also help, especiall for those who are interested in gaining organizational experience. Here's my reasons why from my letter:

Now, this is a critical point, and I wish I could go and join the Obama Organizing Fellows, as this will help everyone become community and political advocates, especially when it comes to "watching our rights," as this will be crucial throughout this campaign and after the election.

...I personally would like to have applied because I'm not very good at organizing events, so I would have enjoyed learning the organizing techniques they would be explaining to us. Furthermore, I can personally relate to a lot of Obama's situations, though I may not have met him in person, so I really encourage you to apply and take advantage of it.

Also, we need people at the HQ's to have more locations available in the small town and rural areas as well as having more of these areas staffed by lesser-educated/older voters so that they can relay Obama's message to these groups, as they may be more receptive. It would be great if these staffers rely less on the MSM so that they can dispell these rumors personally. In addition, we need to multiply the number of small-group meetings like this one at PA, and to get these out in the media ASAP. (I recall someone explain that they occur often, but I think they need to occur more often, even if it has to be done by volunteers, and we'll have to publicize the ourselves since not everyone watches C-SPAN).

I want to go and join these groups, but I am unable to at this time.

So that leads me to my next set of recommendations, particularly for those bloggers who are not able to travel:

Educate yourselves about the issues, as well as their historical background and their interrelationships with other issues. Being informed on the background and relationships on the issues will help us explain Obama's points on the issues, as well as help us "watch our rights" on some of them.
Keep everyone informed about the media, and bring out counterpoints when they arise. The MSM won't stop smearing Obama, and the volunteers on the ground need to know what's up as they won't have time to search around like we would. We are going to be the first line of defense.
If you have a good idea about fighting the MSM that ObamaHQ could use, let them know ASAP. I will say that I disagree with negative campaigning because that is the bait which HRC and the RNC are hoping the Obama campaign will fall for.

For me, it's more important for Obama to unite the country than the Democratic Party, as I suspect that HRC is anticipating these negative attacks to be enough "distraction" for the older/lesser-educated/small-town and rural voters so that Obama will be perceived as weak for the Democratic elite to be "convinced" to chosing HRC for the nomination and put pressure on Obama to be HRC's VP choice. However, as Obama wants to focus on being the Democratic nomination at this time, we need to help him get there. Personally, I think Obama has enough support to run as an independent candidate if he choses to, if he doesn't get the Democratic nomination.

One last point, we have to get Obama to the White House, and we have to be make sure we are making sure that he will get the support he needs elsewhere due to a concerning event which has occured during the PA primaries, which were not covered until by local media in my hometown until after the PA polls closed: GWB with Canada and Mexico at New Orleans "cementing" trade affairs. (The post was out during the PA primary, but I doubt a lot of us saw that then, which might have been the MSM's anticipation, in theory). So, keep an eye on that as well as your rights.

Right now, Obama will need our help more than ever, as it is NOW OR NEVER!

Hey guys,

Before I begin with this post, I would like explain how I usually blog here. When I blog, I check my emails, read some articles, then the ObamaBlogs, and finally some internet blogs and blogs from other candidates before I blog.

After last night's primary, I was really frustrated. The MSM and HRC are using psychology to manipulate less-educated and older voters, especially late-deciding voters, as many of them seem to rely on the MSM for their information, into voting HRC by continuously forcing Obama to answer questions which are really "distractions" as he put it. And it shows! However, today, I was still frustrated from last night, so I change up my online routine. As I said, I do look around other candidates' websites, and what I did was start my browsing by going to Ralph Nader's website. I actually read some of their blogs, and I ran across this blog written by one of their staff about planting a garden and reaping what you sow with the comparison between her garden and the presidential campaign. I recommend listening to the embedded YouTube link, even though it is supposed to be a Nader plug, as it is relevant with us as Obama supporters, and this is especially important for those who are considering to vote for HRC if Obama doesn't win the nomination.

Why am I recommending a link that is supposed to endorse Nader? Good question. The message in the audio (as well as the text version of the audio) does not directly endorse Nader, only if you look at the video will you see the Nader endorsement. So, if you don't want to watch, you can click on the video link, then surf around while listening to it. After watching the video, and particularly listening to the message while disregarding the Nader plug, I actually felt better, and I am grateful that that link was up, and I thought to share this with everyone on the ObamaBlogs, as I hope they will help you feel better as well.

Like the previous link is saying, we have to "dig in." I've been working in some part-time work while looking for a better job. Recently, I've been given given a trial shot at the job I'm interested in. I won't go into details about it because I wish to not talk too much about my personal life. The main exception has been the blog, Resolution: Fight! as I felt the campaign was mimicking a situation I had experienced in SGA with a resolution I was working on. Luckily, for me, the ObamaBlogs have been my way to contribute support for Obama, and I hope my blogs have been helpful for those who have been looking for information, advice, debate, or opinions.

However, I personally would like to have applied because I'm not very good at organizing events, so I would have enjoyed learning the organizing techniques they would be explaining to us. Furthermore, I can personally relate to a lot of Obama's situations, though I may not have met him in person, so I really encourage you to apply and take advantage of it.

In the end this letter was intended to give a little insight to my blogs, the late-deciding voters as well as the MSM with their influence, a link to help us refocus (even though it's from another campaign), and to wrap it up with a recommendation to join the Obama Organizing Fellows as a way to help out Obama win this thing!

Please don't take offense to this letter, but use it to help inspire and empower you to keep fighting! And please, please, please, make it Obama, and NOT HRC (even for VP)!
