So we got a little taste last evening of what our opponents have up their sleeve for the rest of this campaign...sarcasm laced speeches that misrepresent our candidate and OUR efforts to change this country. You saw exactly the same thing that turns everyone off from politics and making change in our communities. These are the scare tactics the Republicans have used over the last 2 elections to win....but I've got news for them NOT THIS TIME!

We knew this would not be easy, so know it is time for us to hit back. We have not made it this far only to let the same old Washington knock us down. The resources it takes to fight back are much. But I encourage you to donate what you can. $5, $10, $20. It makes a difference.

What is required of us also means talking to people....knock on doors, make phone calls, write letters. This may seem uncomfortable to some people, but i'll be the first to say that I made the jump and it wasn't that bad! Calling folks and knocking on their doors may be intimidating, but once you start to see the support we have, it turns intimidating into encouraging. Sure, there are people who will disagree with you, but treat them as we like to be treated, and as Barack has shown us. Listening and talking through things is the only way we move this world forward.....not through party bashing, sarcastic, misleading speeches.

LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN! YES WE CAN and YES WE WILL!

Obama hits 50%!

So we have all been working very very hard over the last weeks and days of the presidential campaign. Well folks, I'm writing to say that our work is paying off!! In the most recent Gallup poll released just moments ago, Obama now leads 50% to McCain's 42%. The poll was taken between August 29 and September 1.

Now....we cant let our guard down now! With the increased media coverage of the GOP convention, lets get back out there. Knock on some doors, make some phone calls, and write letters. This truly is a grassroots effort and our effort will help to ensure this Nation gets the change it deserves.

Even if one wishes to give her the benefit of the doubt with her assassination ‘gaffe’, her lack of historical accuracy makes this a 'Bosnian sniper fire' level discrepancy. Her husband had, in fact been, assured of the nomination with Paul Tsongas withdrawal in March of 1992. Further recent history has shown that those campaigns which fight on into the convention always lead to general election losses. These facts coupled with her previous effective endorsement of Senator McCain’s qualifications over Senator Obama’s, along with the not so very subtle racism of her campaign, make her utterly unfit to be Senator Obama’s Vice-President.

A leader of the Democratic Party under Bill Clinton has switched his allegiance to Barack Obama and is encouraging fellow Democrats to "heal the rift in our party" and unite behind the Illinois senator.

Joe Andrew, who was Democratic National Committee chairman from 1999-2001, planned a news conference Thursday in his hometown of Indianapolis to urge other Hoosiers to support Obama in Tuesday's primary, perhaps the most important contest left in the White House race. He also has written a lengthy letter explaining his decision that he plans to send to other superdelegates.

"I am convinced that the primary process has devolved to the point that it's now bad for the Democratic Party," Andrew said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.

Bill Clinton appointed Andrew chairman of the DNC near the end of his presidency, and Andrew endorsed the former first lady last year on the day she declared her candidacy for the White House.

Andrew said in his letter that he is switching his support because "a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to continue this process, and a vote to continue this process is a vote that assists (Republican) John McCain."

The wisdom and nobility of the Barack Obama campaign is uncanny. We all know that at the height of the Jeremiah Wright controversy Senator Obama chose not to throw Rev. Wright under the bus, which was not only courageous beyond the capability of any modern political figure, it was the kind of wisdom that reveals itself so tactfully it pushes the boundaries of its genius.

Barack Obama arrived in Chicago in 1991 as a community organizer. He was there fighting for broken and low income communities and pushing to have their voices heard. He utilized the same grassroot techniques that he uses in this presidential election to organize the city. In a task to help those communities rebuild themselves, he registered over one hundred thousand voters, and granted the people in that community the power to speak for themselves (this allowed Bill Clinton to win Illinois in 1992). He worked very closely with churches to achieve this task.

With a congregation of 8,000 people, The Trinity United Church of Christ is the biggest church in the community. He connected himself with that church to organize the people in that community at a mass level. I already knew this was the reason Barack Obama was connected with The Trinity United Church., so I immediately assumed the Obama campaign would explain this to the media, but they didn’t. After waiting an entire week, they release a Pennsylvania ad titled "Opportunity" illustrating in 61 seconds the technique used to help the people of south side Chicago.

This is the vital information that we need to make the public aware of: Independents, Working Class, Everyone in America. This is important.

During the media’s repeated abuse of the Obama campaign over the weeks, I slowly began to lose hope. I thought that for another four years we would again fall victim to the Special Interest. It seemed that more and more bad news would vilify the Obama Camp. In the midst of these controversies, Barack Obama stayed calm. I struggled to understand why Barack Obama continued to present himself in such a calm fashion. It seemed that we had hit rock bottom, and to make matters worse the Obama Campaign decided to release a photo of Bill Clinton and Jeremiah Wright shaking hands. I did not understand the significance of the photo’s release; it seemed to be an act of desperation. Finally, it hit me.

That picture is a photograph taken at the White House in 1998 during a prayer breakfast hosted by Bill Clinton at the height of the Monica Lewinski fiasco. That photograph not only serves to remind us of the controversy that comes with a Clinton White House, but to visually show us that Reverend Jeremiah Wright is well known in the political arena, and the media’s sudden discovery of his existence is nothing short of a ploy to inspire voter fear.

Here is another photograph of Reverend Wright tending to President Lyndon B Johnson in 1966, for which he received a letter of commendation from Washington. Reverend Wright has been known by politicians for decades now, and his church of 8,000 has been doing community work in south side Chicago long before Barack Obama even arrived.

This is not to defend Jeremiah Wright’s offensive statements. Instead, it is to create awareness on how the media is attempting to destroy the Obama campaign.

This is a war against the Special Interest and Big Business and Nafta and Wal-Mart and most importantly the war. We the people make up the Obama Camp. We have to fight hard against the tools that the Special Interest uses to manipulate people (the media). This is a Civil Revolution to win this country back. We have to take the power out of the hands of the corporations and put it back into the hands of the American people. Do not let Wal-Mart (Hillary Clinton) and War Monger (John McCain) fool you.

If you're Hillary Clinton and you've just been caught in a "whopper," the only thing to be grateful for is that it's Good Friday and people are distracted. How bad could this story be for her? When you tell the American public you faced gunfire, and it turns out all you reallyfaced was a little girl with flowers - well, that's as bad as it gets. When you dramatically say you made a journey that was too dangerous for the President, only to have it revealed that he made the same trip two months earlier - and that your teena ged daughter was by your side - that only makes it worse.

This pattern hasn’t changed since Bill Clinton was accepting contributions to pardon people like Marc Rich. Same old people doing the same old things in Washington? Indeed…

Clinton Camp Presses Super Delegates Not To Take Sides

For weeks, the Barack Obama campaign has warned that Hillary Clinton would try to use her ties to the Democratic establishment to muscle 'super delegates' into backing her presidential bid, overriding a popular vote majority and Obama's plurality of pledged delegates elected in primaries and caucuses.

Now, however, as Obama has gained steadily in the polls, the Clinton campaign has reversed field. Top Clinton aides are pleading with uncommitted super delegates to hold off making any commitments, fearful that any commitments they make would be to back Obama, not Clinton.

A set of talking points emailed to Clinton supporters within organized labor describes the arguments to use on uncommitted super delegates. In the email, the Clinton campaign suggests telling the uncommitted delegates that "it would be unfair and unjust to cut off the nominating process now. There might come a time when the process needs to come to a close, but that time is not now."

In language that could have been lifted from the Obama playbook just a few weeks ago, the email says Clinton backers should make the case to super delegates that: "If House, Senate and DNC members try to end this process now, it would be very damaging to those institutions, the Democratic Party and our chances in November."

The entire DNC, members of Congress, governors, labor leaders and other key interest group leaders make up the 842 "automatic" or "super" delegates to the convention who are free to cast ballots for the candidate of their choice, regardless of how their state voted. To win, a Democratic candidate must have the support of at least 2025 delegates out of a total of 4048; 20.8 percent of the delegates are super delegates.

Just over three weeks ago, on February 6, Obama was the one warning that the super delegates might side with Clinton, even though he was ahead in the popular vote and in the pledged delegate count:

"If this contest comes down to superdelegates, we are going to be able to say we have more pledged delegates, which means the Democratic voters have spoken. . . . The argument we would be making to superdelegates is, if we come into the convention with more pledged delegates then I think we can make a very strong argument that our constituencies have spoken and I think that's going to be pretty important when it comes to the general election."

Clinton and her aides, three weeks ago, were, in turn, adamant in defending their efforts to persuade super delegates to endorse the New York Senator.

On February 16, Clinton told reporters that super delegates have "first-hand knowledge of the candidates" and "if people want to go after delegates in places that I've won who are supporting somebody else, what's good for the goose is good for the gander." At the time, Clinton had a substantial lead among super delegates. One estimate on February 8 gave her a 213 to 142, a 71 vote advantage.

More recently, however, the trend among super delegates making endorsements has been decidedly in Obama's favor; he has picked up the support of 35, including three who switched from Clinton. The Clinton campaign did not respond to queries as to how many super delegate endorsements she has picked up in recent weeks. The most recent super delegate count on RealClearPolitics shows her lead among super delegates dropping to 59, 241-182.

The count among pledged delegates chosen through primaries and caucuses is 1193 for Obama and 1038 for Clinton, or a 155 vote in favor of the Illinois Senator. Obama has so far won a total of 10,305,403 votes, according to RealClearPolitics, to Clinton's 9,379,822, a difference of 925,581 votes.

In the Clinton campaign's talking points email, Clinton supporters were told to argue that "late momentum in the primary may be an important factor impacting the perception of a candidate's strength going into the general election. If, as we expect, Hillary Clinton wins Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania, the current dynamics of this race will shift dramatically."
