Republican Lawmakers didn’t care about bi-partisanship when they were in DEFICIT SPENDING power for the previous eight years and they sure don’t care about bi-partisanship now. All they want to do is take the money and run. When Republican Senatorial candidates and Lieberman are flaunting their fancy ads, posters, flyers, rallies and disingenuous, hypocritical rhetoric in 2010, remember that their campaign monies came from the “PEOPLE’S” UNINSURED blood, sweat and tears and vote them ALL out!

Great training today in Kalamazoo, MI. We had 12 CO's and NTL's in attendance. As one attendee put it, "We have everyone here, from students to AARP members." The group was made up of people who have been working at the grassroots level since the campaign as well as people looking to dive back into grassroots organizing. Overall, participants really appreciated the breadth and depth of the training from our discussions about building teams to discussions about the legislative process. It was clear that today's training not only provided them with the tools necessary to organize in their community, but a renewed sense of enthusiasm about the very important work they will be doing!

Societies Failure to provide adequate treatment programs for mentally disturbed inmates.

"Do you know that - mental disorders are found in a fairly large number of the inmates in correctional institutions. There are no exact figures as to the inmates who are mentally disturbed and this is partly because it is hard to draw a precise line between "mental disturbance" and "normality"

Do you know that expers find that somewhere between 15% and 25% of inmates are suffering from disorders that are obvious enough to show up in routine psychiatric and sociological examinations.

Society has not yet really come to grips with the problem of what to do with mentally disturbed offenders because there is not enough money available to set up treatment programs for all the people indentify as mentally disturbed. Moreover, there would probably qualify psychiatric personnel available to run such programs even if they could be set up.

Moreover, most mentally disturbed offenders are therefore left to serve out there time in correctional institutions."

Health care is the most important part of any individual, for we all get sick at times and we all grow older etc... and without health care small illness can become a big problem and can even mean death. So in my opinion Health care is more important then money. You can have all the money in the world but richness will not prevent you from catching sickness specially a lot of rich people catch cancer from over eating at fancy restaurants. Moreover Health care can mean the difference between life and death, between having a long life and not. etc....

So, I think what the President is trying to do about health care for all is very wise. Our President is a smart caring person.

Hospice is a specialized program of care for both the with end-stage disease, and for those close to them.

Common Symptoms of End Stage/signs of End of Life:

Agitation

Dyspnea=Dificulty Breathing

Pain = Physical, sociological, emotional, spiritual

Constipation

Diarrhea

Nausea and Vomiting

Anorexia

Insomnia

Hospice care make patients as confortable as possible.

-Hearing is the last thing to go.

(People who are in coma sometimes are concious but cannot move - so be very careful what you say when around a patient with coma -because they might be able to hear everything.)

A living will is something very important for everyone - you can write in it for example: Keep me alive at any cost etc...) and or have a health care Proxy=this person makes decisions for that person about their health, keeping them on respirator, tube feeding, etc...

Considering Republican Lawmakers’ “DITTHERING” over quality, affordable health care for all, their focus on the Social Secretary’s not attending the White House crashers’ hearing is another one of their CIRCUS side shows. First of all, Republican Lawmakers’, continuous, “break the President” shenanigans make it, virtually, impossible to believe that they, TRULY, care about anything associated with the White House “crashers” outside of further inflating their OVER INFLATED egos. Secondly, if Republican Lawmakers placed the same concentrated efforts on working WITH the President to fix the economical mess they created over the previous eight years by deregulating the banks and Wall Street, outsourcing American jobs to foreign countries, the Iraq Invasion, and billions to Halliburtin, they would realize that flitting from hither to yon to exacerbate issues outside of their immediate jurisdiction, results in nothing but the blowing off of hot air.

Republican Lawmakers need to STOP "crashing" the President's "HOPE" FOR AMERICA agenda, and START focusing on legislating universal health care reform; regulating the banks and Wall Street; getting outsourced jobs back on American soil; pushing for a meaty stimulus package (unlike the first, Republican-driven, “If I don’t get my way, I’ll vote no”, watered-down package), and stop whining for a never ending US “occupation” of Afghanistan.

Republican Lawmakers may revel in being ‘Obama Party Crashers’, but TRUE ‘party crashers’ don’t dither from hither to yon to be seen at the ball!

Thought I'd better hurry and write this and send it to all groups that

The esculation of the war in Aftganistan is the last straw. Three strikes

First, he keeps the same people on the payroll that got us into this

financial disaster. He let's Bush and Cheney walk scot-free. He continues

to bail out the banks, "all too big to fail" why they screw us in every way.

And tonight on national tv he will try to convience us all that the way to

end the war in Aftganistan is to exculate it. This did not work in Vietnam,

I know, because I volunteered to go there, and it will not work in Aftganistan.

To add insult to injury. The powers that be, the ones backing McCain in

my city in Northern California, are all meeting to determine what the same

good ole boys get to do with local stimulus funds...So my question is?

WHAT THE HELL HAS CHANGED IN AMERICAN PRESIDENT OBAMA?

I am so damned mad right now, I swear, if I could afford it, I'd trade in

University of Michigan College Dems Break Own Record

On Thursday, The College Democrats at the University of Michigan sought out to break their own national record for the most calls made at a single Organizing for America event. After making calls for ten straight hours with over 30 students participating, their efforts paid off. The College Democrats at the University of Michigan made 2,075 calls! They set the previous record at 1,739 just over month ago. A conference room in the Michigan Union was scene of the phonebanking marathon. It was filled with call sheets, pizza boxes, phone chargers and dozens of the group's members, showing up to make calls for as much or as little time as their schedules would allow. Some members stayed for four or five hours as a time, while others showed up several times through out the day in between classes and work to make as many calls as they could. True to their affinity for new media, the group used a Facebook event, google form, dozens of emails, Twitter, and text messages to rally its members. The College Democrats look forward to challenging their own record again in support of reform.

I'm Back! And Fired Up!!

It's been awhile since I've been active here. Honestly, after working night and day to get President Obama elected, I thought I'd be able to rest on my laurels...or at least rest. But noooo, his critics started in on him immediately - as in Nov. 5, 2008 immediately. So I have been working unofficially by writing letters to editors, rounding up support for health care, explaining the bill drafts to friends and strangers, correcting the media, etc. But I want to organize my efforts and measure my results. So I'm back. I miss having reinforcements and knowing that I'm not in this fight alone. Most of all, I miss being around doers instead of talkers.
I've been easing my way back into the swing of things by attending a few events per week. This past Wednesday, I attended the Northern CA Weekly Conference Call to see what our strategy is for getting health care passed. Last Thursday, I attended my first official Call for Health Care event. It was great! Much easier than Calling for Change :) Partly because we were calling from a list of people who have already claimed to support the President and/or the health care reform bill. Of the 30 calls I made, I spoke to about 10 people who were at home. They were all still on-board with reform and agreed to call their congressional representatives to let them know.

One very memorable caller - an 80 year-old man - was so passionate about this issue! He told me a couple stories about falling through the "donut hole" - the gap between health insurance coverage. At the end of our call, he wanted to do more than call his representatives (again), though. He wanted to personally visit their offices so they could SEE just who is in need of new health care. I'm paraphrasing because he used more...colorful language. :) He signed up as a volunteer to help spread the word about health care. That was my last call of the night. I left on a high note to see an elderly person with that much fight in him, who is willing to use his *ahem* gift of gab in a productive way. It reminded me of my 86 year-old grandmother writing 80 postcards to send to people for Obama for America.
It was a very encouraging first night back in the saddle, so to speak. I look forward to tomorrow's tabling event to inform shoppers about health care (we created a game to make the information exchange fun). Next week, I'm hosting a couple of events. We'll see if I still have my organizing touch. :) Let's get it done!

The Way Senate CAN Pass The Health Bill

For some reason the media and even our politicians keep pounding the vital importance of the Senate obtaining 60 votes in the Senate to pass the health care reform legislation. There's the non-stop 'what will (Traitor) Joe Lieberman do'...or 'will they get (R) Olympia Snowe'...or 'will Harry Reid get the 60 votes he needs...'? 60...60...60 !!! That's all we hear. I'm not sure if the media is trying to add drama to the health care issue in an attempt to stimulate audience ratings or if it's an orchestrated tactic in hopes of keeping Americans ill-informed through the direction of our great politicians, but the FACT is, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid DOES NOT need 60 votes to pass the health care bill but in fact ONLY 51- a simple majority, which makes a huge difference-through a procedure commonly used and known as RECONCILIATION.

Reconciliation is " a legislative process of the United States Senate intended to allow a contentious budget bill to be considered without being subject to filibuster (only needing 51 votes to pass). Because reconciliation limits debate and amendment, the process empowers the majority party ". The reconciliation procedure is limited to being used for budget related legislation that costs or raises substantial amounts of money. In the case of the Senate health care bill, that would include the expansion of Medicare or Medicaid, revenue-raising tax provisions, and even the creation of a public health insurance option, depending on how it's written. So the reconciliation procedure CAN be used to pass the health care bill with only 51 VOTES !

The downside of the bill being passed through this procedure is that, due to a ruling known as the Byrd Rule, non-budget legislation designed to regulate the insurance industry could not be included in the bill and would have to be voted on in a separate bill which would need 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. But there is a strategy that can be used to overcome even this obstacle as described by Ryan Grimm of HuffPo:

    But there's another alternative, according to Martin Paone. Paone, who served as a Democratic Senate floor staffer for 29 years, has been advising Democrats as they craft their legislative strategy. He proposes that Democrats try to get 60 votes to waive the Byrd Rule -- which would then allow the inclusion of those non-budget-related provision in one bill that would require only 51 votes for final passage.

    What's the advantage? And why would any senator who opposes the entire bill vote for such a waiver? The answer can be found in the specific proposals that would be in violation of the Byrd Rule. Mostly, those would include reforms to the way the insurance industry operates -- for example, a ban on using preexisting conditions to deny coverage, or a law that insurance companies can't drop a client just because they get sick.

    Those are wildly popular reforms. Getting 60 votes to support those policies is much easier than getting 60 for a public health insurance option, which Republicans and some conservative Democrats oppose.

    Conservative senators such as Mary Landrieu (D-La.), Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) or Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) could, in voting for a Byrd Rule waiver, put themselves on the record as being in support of popular insurance industry reforms, while still opposing final passage of the bill -- a political strategy that may be appealing to them.

So, as the media continues their daily rant of how imperative it is that EVERY Democratic Senator vote yes on the health care bill remember one FACT that they seem to want to hide from We The People. There IS a way for the Senate to get the bill passed WITHOUT 60 votes...without Traitor Joe...without Olympia Snowe...without Mary Landrieu...making them absolutely meaningless in the debate.

Now, WE must let Harry Reid know that WE know that this option is in fact available to him. Call...Email...and DEMAND that if he feels he doesn't have the 60 votes needed to block the filibuster, then We The People...

DEMAND
RECONCILIATION !

When they, our great politicians realize that WE KNOW that they have this option...they will be FORCED to use it...even if they had other intentions (like letting the bill stall or even fail). Help the word RECONCILIATION become a household word. Spread the fact that this IS in fact an alternate means of the Senate getting the bill passed. Since day one, President Obama has stated that he would not be able to create Change on his own...that he would need OUR help. Time to do OUR part by DEMANDING that our politicians do EVERYTHING possible, including RECONCILIATION, to stop 44,000 Americans from DYING each year due to the lack of access to quality health care, by passing health care reform-with a strong public option-for all.

Email the media to let them know that WE know
and are DEMANDING that our politicians

"300gms tomatoes

1 carrot

1 celery stem

Bouquet Gami = Bunch of herbs tied together that is parsley, thyme, bay leaf and celery stalk.

1/2 cup of milk

and 1 tbsp of butter

and 1 tbsp of sugar

salt and pepper

50 gms white roux = equal quantities of flour and butter cooked together to a light yellow colour and biscuity flavor, use in thickening soups and sauces.

And So, You first boil the tomatoes in 4 cups of water.

Then, add Roughly-Chopped carrots, celery and bouquet garni.

Then, when the tomatoes are completely cooked, blend in a liquidizer and strain.

Then, put it on fire again and add milk and white roux.

After that, whisk a little and allow it to cook for 10 minutes. When cooked, add salt, pepper and a pinch of asafoetida, sugar and finish it with cream and butter. Serve it hot with a few bread croutons in the soup."

This week, Organizing for America in Michigan is preparing events to thank members of congress for their support on health insurance reform. Last Saturday, the House of Representatives passed historic health reform legislation. Allen and Janet H couldn’t wait to thank their representative, Congressman Gary Peters (D-Bloomfield Hills) for his support on health insurance reform. Allen and Janet have been involved in politics for over 50 years and comprehensive health insurance reform has been a goal they have always hoped could be achieved. Shortly after Saturday night’s vote, President Obama released the following statement

Yesterday the House Minority Leader quoted words from the Declaration of Independence as words from the “Constitution” at an Anti- Health Care Reform rally. Today Republican “Break Obama” Lawmakers are conducting a media blitz declaring that they WILL NOT vote for the Health Care Reform Bill and equating the public option with a loss of freedom. Since they don’t know the difference between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, it’s not surprising that they don’t know the definition of “Option” which is associated with having a choice. "Freedom" of choice is what the "public OPTION" is all about! Functional illiteracy is no excuse for throwing the wishes of 62% of Americans under the bus.

Flint Celebrates the One Year Aniversary of Change

Organizing for America hosted a celebration in Flint on the one year anniversary of the election of President Barack Obama. Complete with décor from the campaign, the ubiquitous Barack Obama cardboard cutout, and speeches from then Sen. Obama in the background, the atmosphere was somewhat surreal for those that had worked tirelessly during the campaign.

The scavenger hunt was case in point. It asked participant to find someone who: volunteered in both 2008 and 2009; volunteered out of state; made a donation; attended an event with Sen. Obama; attended the inauguration, and was wearing Obama gear. Everyone in the room fit at least one category. I met Jim Carlson, who volunteered in Michigan last year. Looking back on the one year mark, Jim said “It’s amazing how much has been accomplished since then”. I also met Mary McLemore who attended events with President Obama in Flint and Detroit. I met Laurie Holland, who was on the National Mall with her daughter when President Obama was officially sworn in. All voted for change, most volunteered for change, and many continue to work for change with Organizing for America.

Many were in this very room exactly one year ago watching the fruits of their labor come to fruition. Brian Bates remembers the excitement in the packed room as Genesee county residents waited for the results to come in.

“You get nervous. No matter how hard you worked, there’s always a chance the votes won’t go your way. I just hope we continue to push for the change we were pushing for during the election because it’s important and people need help.”

The trip down memory lane also served to keep people focused on continuing to work for change. Two tables on display had signs that said “Then” and “Now”. The latter was filled with sign-ups for Organizing for America volunteer opportunities, a place to sign up to call your congressman in support of health insurance form, and a place to drop off letters to members of Congress in support of reform. Flint township leader Mary Putnam spoke to the crowd, telling them of the friends she made during the campaign and the weekly meetings they still have to continue to push for change.

Nov.4th Then and Now: "The Sense of Hope That Continues to Motivate Me"

Michigan: As Americans all across the country today celebrate the one year anniversary of the election of President Barack Obama, hundreds of Organizing for America volunteers gather to celebrate their continued efforts for change. For Community Organizer Christine Jaranowski, the hope born out of a movement for change and a historic election continues today.“It is that sense of hope that continues to inspire and motivate me as I continue the work started last fall, now with Organizing for America.”

Like many in Michigan, Christine joined the President’s campaign late in the election. President Obama was not on the ballot during the Michigan Primary, and there was little campaigning in the state by any Democratic candidate. The general election brought heavy campaigning from both Presidential contenders, and allowed Christine an opportunity to be involved in history.

“Getting involved in a presidential campaign was something that I had always wanted to do, but I never seemed to have the time to volunteer. In 2008, I was able to not only make the time to get involved, but I’d also found, in Barack Obama, a candidate that I believed could not only bring about much needed change, but one that I could support wholeheartedly.”

Unlike Christine, Chris Savage had been involved in previous election. His motivation to get involved with a local Dexter group could be found in those defeats.

“I got involved because I felt like I had really dropped the ball in 2004. Although we had volunteered on Election Day, we never got fully involved in the Kerry campaign and, when he was defeated, I felt defeated. I vowed I would never let that happen again.”

As Chris knocked on 1000s of door and made hundreds of calls in his community, Christine was running a phonebank in her home in Fenton every week from the beginning of September until Nov 4th. Christine remembers fondly the empowerment her volunteers felt when they were able to convince undecided voter to support President Obama. For Christine and Chris and millions of others across the country, the final results on Nov 4th proved that change could come from the ground up, and could lead to stronger communities.

“On election night, I remember standing with my team of volunteers, people I’d only known for a few weeks, but people who were tirelessly dedicated to fighting for change, and I remember the sense of accomplishment in creating this community of volunteers and the joy at not only having won, but of having been a part of something much larger. More importantly, for the first time in eight years, I had a restored sense of hope; hope that change was not just a possibility but also a reality.”

The ability to affect change has kept Chris, Christine, and hundreds of grassroots leaders involved in their movement for change with Organizing for America. Chris was able to get a lot of the friends he made during the campaign active again with OFA in the pursuit of health insurance reform. Christine has again taken a leadership role in Genesee County, not only in continuing to run a phonebank but also training and empowering other leaders.

“I have learned that we can’t just wait for change, we have to work for change every day. Today, we continue to work hard for change, as Organizing for America fights for real health insurance reform.”

"Ohm Shanti". Children, say God the Father = BaBa, you all understand the spiritual pilgrimage very well. There are no pilgrimages of hatha yoga there. This is remembrance, and you know that their is no question of difficulty in the remembrance of God (Prayer/Meditation). There is no difficulty in one remembering God the father a few times at least during the day. You are all the children of God the father whatever name you want to call God, and you children are being sustained by God.

Which sustenance are you receiving?

You are receiving the treasures of the imperishable jewels of knowledge.

There is no difficulty in remembering Baba our sweet father God. And It really does not matter how you sit, because that is not connected with the remembrance of God. The Father God now says: Live at home with your family. You may also do your business. Whatever work you do, you have to remember the Father God. And, don't think that you can have constant remembrance of God now; no. It takes time to reach that stage.

But, you know that if you are humble, pure and remember God and not rich greedy person, than you should know that God will give you so many treasures in Heaven. Remember God Himself doesn't become the Master of the treasures in The Golden Age.

But, God makes you children the Masters.

You also know that no one excet God Our Father, can establish peace in the world.

Moreover, If you have no knowledge of God, there cannot be happiness. The Father God says renounce everything and consider yourself to be a Soul. And, let the Yoga of You, the Soul, be connected to Me God The Father. This is something that requires effort. Thank you for all your prayer for my mother, she is doing much better, but her face is still twisted, the Doctor said it is called Bel Paralises that she has in her side of her face and that with therapy her face might become normal again, for now the one side of her face is still with no mobility and she can't close much one of her eyes and her mouth is to the one side of her face and talks a little different than before but still clear enough to be understood. For now thank God her sugar level is under control eventhough she is still craving sweets, like cookies, ice cream and cake wich she can not eat, and I try my best not to let her eat sweets. My mom sick and all she still going around to temples all over the community with her walker and being active in God volunteer service and lending an ear to others even from her sick bed with the phone next to her. She is a strong lady God bless her and my dad always my dad is a Reverend and he got diabetis too but they are good people and I love my parents that God has given me and I look after them.

Ann Arbor- One of the strengths of President Obama’s 2008 Campaign for Change was the record number of youth that got involved in hopes of changing the country. The College Democrats at the University of Michigan were a part of these efforts last year, and fortunately they have continued their efforts in a big way with Organizing for America –Michigan.

UMCD’s work with OFA- Michigan began with a meeting between their leadership and OFA- Michigan staff. Shortly after, Amanda Caldwell was chosen as the OFA liaison and they began to tackle health insurance reform by hosting weekly phone banks and doing outreach on campus. Since then Amanda and the College Dems have proven to be grassroots leaders on their campus and in the state.

A recent friendly competition with student organizers at Michigan State University proved the College Dems’ ability to affect change. On Thursday, October 15, more than 60 students from UMCD made over 1700 phone calls to Michigan residents urging them to call their representatives in support of President Barack Obama's plan for health insurance reform. At this event, UMCD members set the national record for the most phone calls made at a single Organizing for America event. Starting early in the day, UMCD members began calling potential supporters to encourage them to contact their members of Congress about health insurance

"It was great to see so many of our members turn out to the event," said Samuel T. Marvin, chair of UMCD. "Health care is a student issue. By working on comprehensive health insurance reform now, we are making an investment in our future.

In addition to UMCD's involvement with OFA Michigan, the group also activates on progressive issues and campaigns for Democratic candidates. Last fall, UMCD members volunteered for congressional candidates Gary Peters, Mark Schauer, and Bart Stupak. The members have also been volunteering for Marty Griffin's campaign for State Senate throughout the fall.

UMCD holds weekly chapter meetings every Thursday in the Michigan Union at 8pm.

Death of Blue Dog Democrats: Creigh Deeds

Does the Creigh Deeds gubernatorial race suggest the death of the Blue Dog Democrats? Creigh Deeds tried to tack away from President Obama and run too much in the middle. Virginia is not ready for a ultra liberal governor, but it didn’t want a Democratic candidate who water down his beliefs and goals until he became a milquetoast Republican. Creigh Deeds was trying to get votes that he would never get because he has a "D" by his name. This same kind of political play has been used by Blue Dogs in the House and Senate in their opposition to health care reform. At the same time, Creigh Deeds and other Blue Dogs ignored those that would support them if they actually stayed true to the ideas of the Democratic Party Platform. Creigh Deeds created a really lose lose situation for himself. He ran away from a popular president during his first year in office, he didn’t sure up his base, and he went after an impossible constituency. These were bad political plays.

The lesson to be learned from the Creigh Deeds campaign is that Democrat who act scared of their party's name and who run away from their sitting President are sinking their own ship. Blue Dog Democrats need to get a new play book. -- Deeds is in trouble because he played with an old one. Did Creigh Deeds misjudged the political will of the state, or didn’t he fully grasped how enmeshed the state was in a paradigm shift? The shift that is happening is always the toughest to see, that is what is happened to the GOP. Like Creigh Deeds, they are running as if it is the latter part of the 20st century instead of 2009.

The good news is, the gubernatorial campaign is not over. If Creigh Deeds' campaign can be pulled out of its troubled waters by President Obama, look at the wider message that will be sent to Blue Dogs.

Dumb, stump but clever: Sarah Palin

It's all about Sarah Palin and her book deal and proving that she is maverick - rogue. She offered her help to candidates, and there was not one taker. So, she's found a third party candidate who would take her help.

Well isn't she clever? Dumb, stump but clever. She's positioning herself to hold the Republicans hostage in 2012, thereby forcing them to choose her. If they don't, she will take her little army of Christian right who make up nearly 70 percent of the base, and either form her own party or undermine the GOP at every turn. Her maneuver in the New York race should serve as a warning rockets

The GOP isn't stuck with this con artist. There is an escape hatch for them. They could be the ones who actually go to work unveiling her for the fraud she is. They could own up to the ruse they tried to pull on the American people in unleashing her as a vice-presidential candidate. This would will sting, but it would nip her little political adventure in the bud. McCain would need to take the lead. It is doubtful that McCain nor the party will do this. Because they're scared and it is also wrapped up in a struggle between Dick Armie vs. Newt Gingrich for the heart and soul of the GOP.

The GOP, the party that thumps its chest with declarations of their strength and superiority are going to be taken down -not by even by a smart and accomplished person - but a winking little know-nothing charlatan. That must relly hurt--ouch!

Meanwhile, Sarah will laugh all the way to the bank. This is a sad political commentary on the grand old party.

It is so sad that my mother Melby Montalvo sice yesterday got half of her face paralized, thank God it was not a stroke, for according to her medical doctor, what happen to my mother was because her diabetic sugar level went high because she ate sweets chocolates and forgot to take her diabetic medicine, my mom was so lucky that it was not a stroke and that she did not go on a coma, I prayed so much and yes God listen to our prayers for my mother did not got a stroke and hopefuly within a week or two her face and mouth will be back to normal. Her medical doctor said that her face my go back to normal but if it does not go back to normal within a week or two then she may stay like that, and so I am asking for your prayers for my mom health, for God listen to prayers.

Clarkston- Two years ago, Melissa Bernardi was a part time bookseller in Clarkston, Michigan. Today, Melissa is a proud Community Organizer with Organizing for America in North Oakland County. President Barack Obama deserves the Nobel Prize

President Obama may not think that he is deserving of this award but the committee that selects the recipients had their reasons for selecting him. Furthermore, I resent the fact that everyone acts as if Barack Obama's career began on January 20th 2009. This is the same argument we fought so hard against during the campaign, ie, he is not experienced enough, what has he done, etc. Go back and check your notes on how you refuted these arguments and you will see that the Nobel Committee had ample reason to nominate our President and to ultimately select him as the winner. He has been a champion for peace during his entire public life. The fact that he was nominated less than two weeks into his presidency shows that the committee was not considering his accomplishments after January 20th when nominating him. Clearly, the Nobel Committee was looking at Barack Obama's accomplishments before he became president.

The MSM did not dig into the story of the racism on the correctly. There was no in-depth reports on those emails or comments made during the campaign, and since Obama has been in office. Even after Jimmy Carter's remarks, the MSM did not go back and highlight these incidents to show maybe he has a reason to say what he said. Instead, MSM just went around asking people do you think there is racism involved in the criticism of President Obama. They merely conducted opinion polls among pundits to determine whether racism was at root of these extreme horrific attacks.

Furthermore, asking Presidents Clintons opinion or whether or not Obama’s critics were espousing racist animosity, was a none starter. Since he was accused of playing the race card during the campaign, Clinton had lost his credibility on this front.

PROTEST is great. GROTESQUE is not. Here are 10 ways We ALL can participate in a HEALTHY Health Care Reform Debate.

1. TELL THE SPONSORS of radio and television talk shows that PROMOTE hatred and death, that you are ASHAMED that they would ALLOW THEIR PRODUCT to be associated with that type of subject matter.

2. If you are a member of a CHRISTIAN congregation, and your minister starts preaching hate and death threats, STAND up and say “ENOUGH”.

3. If you are at a Tea Party rally and the ORGANIZERS of that rally start handing out mass produced posters with wording related to hate or death, tear up the poster and throw it away.

4. If you are a member of the NRA, let your PROTEST LEADERS know that displaying guns and rifles are fine at a NRA convention, but have no place at a CIVIL demonstration where the lives of innocent people are at stake.

5. If you are a radio talk show host, protest, but TELL THE TRUTH WITHOUT HATE OR RACIST LABELS.

6. If you are a Republican Lawmaker, Party leader or pundit, don’t SILENTLY OR VERBALLY CONDONE behavior that you KNOW IN YOUR HEART IS NOT SYMBOLIC of the tenants of your Party.

Cancer is a disease that KNOWS NO RACE. A broken leg is an injury that KNOWS NO RACE. Glaucoma is an eye disease that KNOWS NO RACE. A toothache is a pain that KNOWS NO RACE? So why has RACE jumped to the forefront of the Health Care Reform debate?

BECAUSE THE CONSERVATIVE RIGHT WING FRINGE ELEMENT PUT IT OUT THERE. If you recall, the linkage of race and Health Care Reform DID NOT BECOME AN ISSUE UNTIL THE AUGUST RECESS. So, why are Republican Lawmakers/Party Leaders and Right Wing radio and television talk show hosts and pundits minimizing, defending, and acting like THEY’RE the victims of an ugly situation that THEIR FRINGE ELEMENT STARTED?

Labels like “Nazi” and “socialist” are not the issue. Plenty of political figures have been faced with those types of labels when the opposition disagrees with their policies. The RACISM AND LIFE-THREATENING FACTORS ARISE when a Christian Minister calls for the “death” of President FROM THE PULPIT, when a radio talk show host blogs that the President an “Indonesian thug”, when a mass produced Tea Party poster states that the President “should be buried with the Senator”, when for the first time in history a Congressman disrespects the OFFICE of the Presidency by shouting out “You lie” during a Congressional address, when mass produced Tea Party posters portray the President as an African witch doctor, when Health Care Forum outbursts link “taking back my country” with falsehoods regarding the President’s place of birth, when a Health Care Forum poster states “Death to the President, Michele, and his two stupid kids”, when Health Care Forum participants appear with openly displayed guns and rifles.

DOWNPLAYING REALITY won’t make it go away, fans the flames and is GROSSLY irresponsible. If you want to stop being called a “racist”, TELL THE LEADERS OF YOUR FRINGE ELEMENT, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH” because…

If you look back in time, you will note that attacks against ACORN ARE ALWAYS initiated by CONSERVATIVE interest groups. You will, also, note that Conservative-led ACORN attacks ALWAYS take place BEFORE A CRITICAL national election cycle whether it be presidential or congressional. WHY IS THAT?

This is not a message to CONDONE any ALLEDGED inappropriate behavior by any ACORN representative IF it is proven to be true, but, in the interest of due process, it is important to look at the OVERALL WORTH of that organization. Besides, contributing towards thousands of homes for Katrina victims, saving thousands of Americans from home foreclosures and predatory lenders, and coming to the rescue of thousands of public schools, ACORN has been extremely effective IN REGISTERING ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED VOTERS.

REPUBLICANS ARE MASTERS AT MOBILIZING THEIR BASE. However, they know that they CANNOT count on minority votes in the 2010 Midterm Elections PARTICULARLY AFTER THEY ‘DISSED’ CHIEF JUSTICE SOTOMAYOR AND THE PRESIDENT. Their best bet towards solving that problem is to DECREASE voter registrations by BLOCKING ACORN’s ability to register minority-based, economically disadvantaged voters.

IT’S NOT ABOUT RACE, IT’S ABOUT SURVIVAL, BUT IF THEY SUCCEED, IT WILL BE A SAD COMMENTARY TOWARDS THE LONG AND, SOMETIMES, BLOODY STRUGGLE MEMBERS OF EVERY RACE, COLOR AND CREED ENDURED TO PROTECT ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS’ RIGHT TO VOTE!
