A pretty effective Sunday on the talk show circuit. Axelrod took on Steve Schmidt and made some very good points about the bailout, and how the debate was preceived by Americans. Kerry went on Fox News and completely destroyed the filmsly argument about how McCain saved the negotiations. "He suspended his campaign and it took him 22 hours to get from New York to Washington, a one-hour flight, had time to go do Katie Couric in an interview, had time to give a speech to the Clinton millennium, and when he got here, he wound up -- I mean, he said he was going to interrupt his campaign to come down and save the negotiations. Most people believe what he did was interrupt the negotiations to come down and save his campaign."
Great quote and I'm glad he put Chris Wallace in his place.
From Daily Kos a very scary story about how the Treasury Sec. is being given a very large amount of power. I'm not sure a single minded approach is the best solution to this challenging crisis.

DONATE.
I was reading Kennedy's acceptance speech and picked out this selection. I understand that tying Bush to McCain is helpful but we need something that breaks through to folks out there. Our ideas are strong but they need a better showcase. The old ways of campaigning will not do.
"Our task is not merely one of itemizing Republican failures. Nor is that wholly necessary. For the families forced from the farm do not need to tell us of their plight. The unemployed miners and textile workers know that the decision is before them in November. The old people without medical care, the families without a decent home, the parents of children without a decent school: They all know that it's time for a change.
We are not here to curse the darkness; we are here to light a candle. As Winston Churchill said on taking office some twenty years ago: If we open a quarrel between the present and the past, we shall be in danger of losing the future.
Today our concern must be with that future. For the world is changing. The old era is ending. The old ways will not do."
The video in Farmington Hill shows promise as a tactical plan against the "dynamic duo" grrr Halperin.....anyway I think Sen. Obama and Sen. Biden should be more direct about the media not doing their job. McCain hasn't received anywhere near the amount of scrunity from the press as Obama has on anything....Obama and Biden both got a whole lot of SURGE questioning this week on the Sunday programs but Bob S. completely let McCain off the hook on everything. All McCain had to do was flatter him and say that Gov Palin would do his show first (how sickening) and then sorry Bob I guess Charlie Gibson gets the first semi-interview that is sure to pile on the fluff. Just like Greta Van whats her name's piece on Fox this week. Back to my first point we all saw how biased Mr. Gibson was during the ABC debate so I won't hold my breath to see any objectivity in the interview's format.
WE can't let this continue.

Here's what I had to write this morning after Palin's speech.
Governor Sarah Palin introduced herself to her party and to the nation last night and many in the media are giving her a thumbs up for her fiery rhetoric. I find it amusing because what I heard last night was something completely different. I heard personal attacks, no real plan to get us out of the hole Republicans have dug us into, and to be blunt...whining. We've heard all week from the McCain campaign that she's gotten sexist treatment because the media would like to know her record and her experience. A process that is expec ted for every other candidate running for high office. Using the sexist card just like McCain using his POW experience to dodge questions is insulting to the American people. When instead of giving us answers to completely legitimate questions, we hear spin and lies and that is not behavior worthy of any presidential campaign, republican or democrat. Here are an example of some of those lies. Sarah Palin last night said that she told Congress, "Thanks but no thanks" to the 'Bridge to Nowhere' well the record actually shows that she supported it until it became unpopular and her state still kept the money after the project was scraped out. She touted reform last night as a key part of her biographical story. But the record shows that she worked for an shady independent group supporting Alaska senator Ted Stevens the first sitting United States Senator in 17 years to face criminal indictment. In addition according to the Washington Post she hired lobbyists to secure of 27 mill ion dollars in earmarks for her town of Wasilla, AK a town with a population of only 6700 residents. Is that really the change (corruption) we need? No it is not it looks like the last eight years.
Well I think the arguement has been put to rest. Senator Obama not only clearly defined what he would do as the leader of our armed forces. He also stated in strong terms how John McCain and his party have failed to secure the long term strategic interests of this nation. The "gates of hell" section was not only brilliant politically it is also a line that fires up our base and moves independants over to our cause.
Thomas Paine once wrote, "The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion." As Commander in Chief I have no doubt in my heart that Senator Obama will struggle to move this country closer to Paine's vision.
I can't wait to see this fall campaign.
I love watching history being made.
Change is growing.
I'm sure some or most of you have seen this already but I think it's a very powerful ad against Senator McCain and is probably better than anything I've seen, even out of our own campaign war room. Somebody please hire this gentleman to make some ads for us!!!!

This evening I had a conversation with a friend about the election. I was donning my summer blue Obama tank that I recently purchased from the Obama store. Although this man is a friend, we have never talked politics.
So he looks at my shirt and asks, "Why Obama?" My reply, Why not?"
He then aske dme to seriously explain why I supported the Senator from our state. I told him that first of all I liked amny of the things he had accomplished while being our Senator at the state level. I further explained what he did for legal reform so innocent people are not sent to prison, health care for our children, his education interests in early childhood education and college for all interested, just to name a couple of items.
Then he asked me about rural America and farmers, which I had just read up on so gave him a great explanation and told him he could visit the website for further information on all of the issues and Barack's stance on them. We discussed women's issues from abortion to domestic abuse and fare wages. And then the real issue came about, the issue of experience. I replied that he definitely had enough experience to lead this country. I added that if McCain were to win we would be encountering an extension of the Bush era and even more hardships for America.
We talked about grassroots organizing and how Barack has been making this election different from the past. I have no idea whether or not I made an impact on him, but I did get him to say he would look at the issues section of this site. I was not shot down by any means. He is exploring his choice.
Just thought I'd share this with everyone. A webpost on Andrew Sullivan's blog that I found to be very touching.

(Rev. Jesse) Jackson's comments, though crude and incendiary, come at a time when Obama is accused of reversing his stand on the Iraq war, campaign finance, gun control, the death penalty, abortion and wiretapping without court oversight as he tries to position himself for the election against the Republican, John McCain.
Wow, all this "change" in less than two weeks!Yes, Barack Obama is the "change" candidate. He keeps changing his positions. Yes, he is the "hope" candidate. We hope he goes back to being the candidate of "change" and "hope."

And yet again the Democrats decide to let George W get his way. It's interesting to think about all the atrocities this man has committed against mankind and surprisingly he gets what he wants and there seems to be nothing we can do about it.
Now I'm all for compromise but trampling on the 4th Amendment is not a valid definition of that word. Truthfully I will always support Senator Obama. I've been sold on his ability to be president ever since he spoke at the 2004 Convention and that was a pretty big leap of faith....however faith like all things comes in degrees and to be equally honest my faith in "change we can believe in" is a little bit diminished.
If it were anything other than the Bill of Rights I wouldn't be making such a fuss, but this document is what defines us as a nation and is the very thing that has perpetuated our existence from enemies aboard and from within. Bin Laden got his wish today and I pray this is the last time we sacrific our rights to any more terrorists whether they be in the White House or some cave halfway around the globe.
Obama supporters decorated a truck and participated in the Brookings Fourth of July parade.
The Obama truck was decorated with American flags and banners, red, white and blue ballons, and lots of Obama signs. It was a lot of fun decorating the truck and the entry was a great success.
This will include coverage of the selection of seven additional delegates from South Dakota to the national convention in Denver.

Barack Obama did not grow up hunting and fishing, but he recognizes the great conservation legacy of America’s hunters and anglers and has great respect for the passion that hunters and anglers have for their sport. Were it not for America’s hunters and anglers, including the great icons like Theodore Roosevelt and Aldo Leopold, our nation would not have the tradition of sound game management, a system of ethical, science-based game laws and an extensive public lands estate on which to pursue the sport. Obama recognizes that we must forge a broad coalition if we are to address the great conservation challenges we face. America’s hunters and anglers are a key constituency that must take an active role and have a powerful voice in this coalition.
