This week I thought I felt a shift. The blustering voice of fear is starting to die down. Opposition voices to healthcare reform are proving that they have no substantive answers, just knee-jerk reactions. There is no alternative plan or agenda from people opposing reform. It seems to be a scary combination of "I've got mine, you get yours", and a gamble that maybe status quo will last just long enough for me. The media is tiring of the narrative of angry protest against reform. They need a new byline.
I think the opportunity is now. Make time to attend a rally, like the September 3rd rally in downtown Houston. Let us offer educated, thoughtful reform. Let us show greater support. Now friends. Now.

I have just printed 34 beautiful notes to carry with me to the meeting today.
Including DJ Mark Anthony’s request for the Senator to report the lies on TV commercials and the colorful picture of Pat Boone.
It is not enough to write President Barack Obama, we have to contact our elected officials, in particular the ones that are not supporting our Prez.
It is not too late, send in your notes to me anytime, John Cornyn's office is 5 minutes from my front door.
Also attend the town hall meetings being organized by our reps.
Yesterday Julie and I attended the one in the Fifth Ward, it was an interesting experienced actually being there vs. watching on TV.
Our Madam Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee did a fabulous job! She came prepared with presentation boards and handouts of the bill.
SJL was very clear and to the point on issues. She was kind and listen to the speakers and promised to take back to Congress our views and concerns.
She kept control of the meeting beautifully! The folks that spoke out without being called on were not addressed and ended up looking disrespectful and foolish.
Congresswoman Jackson Lee clearly sorted thru some of the creative fabrications, lies, and misconceptions floating out there. It was difficult for me to keep a straight face listening to some of the comments from confused and angry audience.
I think some folks are just extremely disappointed we have a Democratic government in place now. They display anger and frustration using the usual rhetoric.

I am so happy that Obama is our new President. Finally a competent man in the White House. After McCain and Palin threw every negative thing they could at him, the American people rejected it.
This was a landslide, a complete mandate and I could not be more happy. I can't believe it is over. I look forward to seeing Obama take over in January.
I have to literally keep pinching myself.
So many emotions ran through me over the last two years. I fought hard for Obama during the primaries and the general election. I did this because I believed in him so completely. Mostly, I became obsessed with seeing him win for my children. They deserve a president that can get us out of this mess that George W and his cronies put us in.
I think America will continue to have its chance to help. Even CNN commentators came out of their closet to acknowledge that this bottom up effort mirrors software engineering (I couldn’t believe it!!) comparing the open source movement of creating software to Microsoft's top down approach.
Old government == Microsoft.
Obama + government == open source.
I know that left a lot of viewers in the dark but some of them on CNN actually get it.
You could see some of their sophistication in their graphics last night, however over the top their business intelligence software usage was with all the pink and yellow states :-)
Barack I've always hoped is going to use this infrastructure and 'people-power' enthusiasm not just for winning an election but in fixing/improving the country.
What if a PRESIDENT asked the AMERICAN people to LOBBY CONGRESS!?!
What if he organized Obama-website-like-Events for:
Asking for buses to go to volunteer at some future natural disaster site
Send in donations not for just the Obama campaign but for the ‘good’ cause of your choice?
Emailing/ Writing your congresspersons to pass Bill 902834 (fake) for a New National Electric Power Grid for electric cars
Emailing/ Writing your congresspersons to pass Bill 234321 (fake) for a new single standard for New French-like Nuclear Power Plants to feed electric cars
Emailing/ Writing your congresspersons to pass Bill 332533 (fake) for a New Health Care Plan with all its details laid out like a Chinese Menu for the American public to voice an opinion on

I could go on but I think I’ve made my point
I’m hoping I’m right that he’s now going to ask the American people, in a truly modern, electronic, web oriented way, to ‘ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country’ with the American President ACTUALLY ASKING US TO DO SOMETHING BESIDES GO TO THE MALL.
