One of the terms often used on TPM and other sites is "echo chamber". It is certainly an appropriate term, as many of our posts are essentially exercises in preaching to the choir. Some of our better writers do get linked on other political websites, but we still often end up reinforcing or expanding beliefs we already hold.

Media Matters

To me, its not the opponents I see that are dragging out these issues. It's the media. I understand the motivation of the presidential candidates to make certain attacks. I may not agree with the way they are carried out, however I can understand why they do it. The media are the ones that continue bringing these questions up on their shows and asks their panels questions about it. I know media has motives too, most of all being ratings, but they also have a obligation to be neutral and unbiased, unless the show is an opinion oriented (Olbermann, Limbaugh, etc.) Even with Lou Dobbs, the man who labels himself an independent. He tends to not have a middle of the road approach on his show. I do think that CNN's Situation Room (excluding Jack Cafferty lol) and Anderson Cooper 360 are relatively even keel programs. They try to balance out their panels with Republican and Democrat strategists. Even with Obama and Hillary supporters they place a Republican on the panel with them. The question's seem to be true journalism and not spin. At least that's what I see. If there are some more shows that I am missing that are neutral let me know. P.S. Jack Cafferty can't hide his support for Barack Obama even if he wanted to lol.

"Bitter"ness

Are they seriously still talking about this? It's the Reverend Wright situation all over again. It is surprising that the subject of his statements are still being talked about. Does Hillary or McCain actually believe the bitter comment was demeaning. I don't see how any lay person could be offended by this comment if they heard it the way it was said, not how it has been taken out of context like previous times. Americans are upset and angry about how the government handles the economy and other issues that don't seem to get taken care of in a expeditious manner. They sure could handle the Terry Schiavo and steroids in baseball issues quickly. I mean I know they are extremely important to our everyday lives and welfare, don't you agree? Come on! That comment shows how "in touch" with the American public he is. I foresee that when he continues to speak honestly about subjects and how they affect Americans, it will only continue because they feel the wind changing direction in the political venue. No longer will Americans believe that politicians all lie and say whatever they can for their own gain. We will demand more from our leaders in the future and it all starts with Obama.

Happy to Join!!!!

I feel very happy and fortunate to be able to join this site. It was imperative that I do something, because the way the primaries have been going lately have upset me. There is no doubt in my mind that Barack Obama will win the nomination, but it does disgust me that the Clintons are allowed to come up with any excuse to stay in the race when it is clear they are causing more damage than good.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Senator Obama, and everyone involved in his campaign, for restoring my faith and hope in the world. My mother named me Nadine because it means hope, and I try to live up to that meaning. However, when I first started watching the coverage, I was convinced that Senator Obama would not be the nominee based on race alone. Senator Obama and every one of his supporters have tremendously strengthened my faith in mankind, and I realize that there are a lot of good, honest people who want the best for EVERYONE, and not just a select few. I cannot express how much this race has had an impact on my life, and I feel truly blessed that I am able to be a part of the experience. Thanks to all who read my thoughts.

Let's move on.

I have been looking at videos and articles online about the Democratic primary race recently. I have come to this conclusion. It is time to change subjects. They have been talking about this Geraldine Ferraro story for too long now. Before that it was Samantha Power. Bottom line...You can not control what your campaign advisors or supporters will say. Both candidates should not be persecuted because of something they did not have control over. Now if someone hired Howard Stern to help with their campaign then they are asking for trouble. Any inflammatory remarks that take place from someone like that is most likely expected. Barack and Hillary had no hand in these statements and to suggest otherwise without proof would be irrational. Besides that, the issues that Americans care about have been put on a back burner and the negative campaigning have been brought to the forefront. This is partly the responsibility of the media. They got these stories and ran with them and if Americans continue to watch with the same intensity they will continue to stew the pot until there is not left to cook with and move on to something else. The candidates can change the subject and address it once during interviews when questioned and continue their rhetoric about the issues. The people are not getting informed right now about the candidates like the should. With the Spitzer story in the news and everyone returning to Congress, now would be the perfect time to stop the mudslinging and get back to the much more desired issues at hand. There are 10 more states that need to vote they need to hear about the issues so they can make an informed decision.
