We need emergency legislation to stop large financial institutions from victimizing American citizens while Congress and the President are busy dealing with critical issues.
AT&T, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase (and Washington Mutual) credit customers are being systematically downgraded in their credit ratings and having their interest rates at least doubled with never having had a late payment or over limit charge.
Chase has told some people that if they want to continue to have a credit card, they have to agree to pay 30 percent interest. Most of us feel the need to have some credit in case of emergencies.
AT&T cancelled my 12 year card with perfect credit because I wasn't using it.
Then, Bank of America sent me a letter that they were doubling my interest rate unless I said no. I said no. They decreased my credit limit and reclassified me as having maxed out my card. I had not maxed out my credit limit.
Now Chase is sending me strange letters and making comments about letting me keep my WAMU card if my credit is good. Again, I have never had a late payment or gone over my credit limit. I pay early and more than the minimum.
I am in a distressed financial position at this time. I am living on what is left of my 401K after Bank of America made a mess of it.
Everyone I mention this to has a family member or friend who is having the same thing done to them. It is systematic. It is calculated. It is wrong.
We need your help. We need your help now. Please contact President Obama and your representatives in Congress.
Peace, Bev
We need emergency legislation to stop large financial institutions from victimizing millions of American citizens while Congress and the President are busy dealing with critical issues.
I'm going back for the Inauguration! Life is good! Many of the Obama and Coordinated Campaign volunteers are going for the Inauguration. :)
Who else is going?
Bev
PS I grew up in Maryland and will be seeing friends from high school for the first time in many years. :) I'm going Jan 16th to Jan 25th.
There are still LARGE numbers of people who have not yet turned in their vote by mail ballots. It's not too late to benefit from this.
Watch the video that shows how to vote by mail. http://wa-democrats.org/vote

11 DAYS!
One of my neighbors sent me this email on September 9, 2008. Thanks, Rockne!
Hi Allison, I thought you should know
I've got to post this. My brother (who is a pastor) sent me this. Feel free to pass it on to anyone who likes a little irony with their politics:
--------------------
Being a pastor, I spend significant time studying scripture – not only in English, but also in ancient Greek, the original language of the New Testament. This week I was amused as I studied Matthew, Chapter 18. Jesus says, “Again, truly I tell you…”This word in Greek stood out: “Again.” It is spelled PALIN . The definition is as follows: Palin adverb; (1) with verbs of going, sending, turning, etc., denoting backward direction, "back" (JN 11.7); (2) denoting a return to a previous state or activity, "again" (Matthew 18:19, JN 4.13); (3) denoting repetition "again, once more, anew" (MT 26.43, 44); (4) denoting continuation furthermore, again, often used in series of quotations or sayings introduced by a formula (MT 13.45; HE 1.5); (5) denoting a turn of thought on the other hand, in turn, again (1J 2.8)(Silver Mountain Bible Software, Analytical Lexicon)Following current events, I can’t help but enjoy the irony of watching the Republican party attempt to distance itself from the recent past even as it selects a candidate whose very name, not to mention political ideology and religious paradigm, reflect a solid return and re-commitment to the belief and practice of our most recent two administrations. "Palin" indeed.Pastor Chris KramerThe Dalles, Oregon-------------------------------------------------
Personally I like the second definition the best. Palin "denoting a return to a previous state or activity" She talks about being a reformer but I'm pretty scared what our country might look like if she really is sitting a heartbeat away from the president.
Secretary of State Sam Reed brags about removing 400,000 names from the voting records. I did some checking and I'm uneasy about the figures I found.
The Washington State Voter Registration Database was launched in January 2006, as required by the Help America Voter Act.
On this page: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/elections/vrdb/VRDBFaq.aspxthere is a graphic showing voter registration database transactionsThe first two categories can be disregarded because they fluctuate month-to-month depending on voter activity. However the next three are stable and do not add up to 400,000
Canceled a duplicate registration 2006-July 2008 = 53,782Cancelled deceased voters 2006-July 2008 = 85,884Cancelled felon registrations 2006-July 2008 = 8,807Total = 148,433
Where are the other quarter million voters? Why aren't they accounted for in the numbers the Sec. of State tracks? What criteria were used to remove the voters?
Will poll voters be in for a rude surprise when they discover they aren't registered this November?
Is your name one of the quarter million names purged from the voter rolls without explanation?
Check here to make sure: http://wei.secstate.wa.gov/osos/VoterVault/Pages/VoterVaultDetails.aspxPass this information to your friends in WA State. Protecting our voter registration is the responsibility of each and every one of us.
Don't let a Republican Secretary of State steal this election. Vote for Jason Osgood this November. Let's get someone in that office who is computer savvy and dedicated to election integrity.
Was anyone else suprised by the wonderful speech given by Joe Biden tonight? I mean, talk about flawless. It was heartfelt, moving, informative... I thought it was just perfect. Obama made a great choice. Joe is just plain lovable and inspiring.
I've been really impressed by the whole DNC. Really well put together. Great speakers. It's amazing how the folks who probably have never given a speech before are coming off so polished. I would be shaking in my boots!
I also really enjoyed Madeline Albright tonight. What an eloquent, articulate speaker! Talk about a woman to look up to.
I wish I could just shake Joe's hand and let him know how wonderfully he executed his speech tonight - but I am sure others will do that - and I hope he takes it to heart.
Congratulations to Peter Masundire, Pam Keeley and Robert Stowers for staying with the process and getting themselves elected At Large National Delegates.
Their committment to the Barack Obama For America campaign is right on the mark with the Obama strategists for winning the Presidency. We know they will use MYBO technology to keep us informed and to work with OFA staff and volunteer organizers sent to this area. They worked within the process set up by the WA State Dems and we can all be so proud of how they made friends not only for themselves but for the good of the keeping the campaign moving forward.
CONGRATULATIONS THANK YOU FOR STAYING THE COURSE.

We've all heard tons of well deserved praise for David Axelrod. Here's a nice feature article about Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe.

Baseball and politics are two of David Plouffe's passions. So it was natural that his love for one game reinforced something that proved crucial in the other: Singles can score runs. As Sen. Barack Obama's campaign manager, Plouffe was the mastermind behind a winning strategy that looked well past Super Tuesday's contests on Feb. 5 and placed value on both large and small states.
Once a fire gets going, it's hard to put out. Since Clinton's candidacy has ended, the millions who put all their hopes into Clinton understandably feel their hopes dashed. Some are quickly able to adjust and be inspired by Obama, if perhaps a little less than they were inspired by Clinton. But others feel that something was stolen from them, which unavoidably leads to labeling someone "thief". The potential to trust Obama is undermined. But what other options? Is McCain better for women? It would be easy to understand why some might be disheartened enough to think they won't vote at all.
There is a void waiting to be filled. So much passion aroused but now no where positive for it to go.
The filing deadline to become a PCO is today (June 4) at 4:30 pm.
PCOs walk their precinct before each election making sure their neighbors are registered voters, handing out election materials, and reminding people to vote. They also are a key player in spreading the word about Democratic candidates! PCOs are elected every two years as part of the Democratic primary.
The form to become a PCO (for all counties) can be found at http://www.secstate.wa.gov/_assets/elections/PCODeclarationofCandidacy.pdf and it needs to be in the hands of your county's election division with a $1 filing fee by 4:30 today.
It is you and I, the individuals, that together made the difference so far, and it is you and I, that need to not sit down and take a breath now, but restock, re supply, and re invest, to work ever harder towards our new finish line set forth. Our Democratic Nominee is just months away from an opportunity to yet again make history. Let us ensure our "dash" will contain the best efforts we can give, to all stand behind our future President in countless numbers, walking strong, backing him in every way feasibly possible, to be a part of this history in the making.
Let us come together to be proud not of what we have, but of what we have done, and what we have yet to accomplish.
I feel as though I have been holding my breath for months. I have been afraid to "hope" too much. I have worried about the disappointment of losing. I have struggled with not knowing if I would be able to gracefully and "Democratically" accept Hillary as my candidate if Senator Obama did not win. I have alternated between obsessively watching the cable news channels with a neurotic ferver and avoiding any information for fear of hearing "bad" news. I have listened to speeches by John McCain and Hillary Clinton and frightened my pets with my disdainful and loud responses. My grown children have chided me to "chill" out. My daughter looked at me with pity when I showed up with a large OBAMA 08 sign proudly displayed in my car window. I have wondered why the media has failed to notice that not all 60 year old white women feminists are Hillary-ites. I have wondered why the media has failed to contemplate the fact that Hillary has not lived the life of an "ordinary" woman for the past 30 years. (She couldn't feel my pain, for goodness sake, no one I know has held a federal level political office, been married to a President or made millions of dollars from book sales.)
I feel as though 40 years of political longing is being realized in my lifetime.....those of us who lived through the political heartbreak of the 60's and the assassinations of our heroes and our dreams of "change" as well as the nightmare of Reagan, Bush and Bush2 administrations are lifting our heads in wonder and pleasure. I am thrilled beyond measure to be witness to this moment!!!!
