There are still LARGE numbers of people who have not yet turned in their vote by mail ballots. It's not too late to benefit from this.

Ladybug, Ladybug fly away home. Your house is on fire your children are crying.
This little diddy was spoken by children in the 50's, it took growing to being a mature woman and mother for me to understand it. I now apply it to Governor Sarah Palin the VP hopeful. She is a mother and woman with every right to run for any office; qualified or not. Being qualified or haviing a particular set of skills is not a constitutionl requirement for president or vice president. The people set the standard of qualifications by their vote.
There are some personal responsibilities we as women should extol. As women we are not merely men in skirts and heels and lipstick we are better than that. We are a human dynamic needed to bring balance to the male dynamic that has governed our nations and the world direction for too long. So Gov. Palin when she tells us no, she did not hesitate a moment when asked to be Vice President led with a male dynamic. A father at home with five children, one an ifant and all infants have special needs and a special need pregnant teenager. I am of the belief that all children are born gifted and challenged. So all children are special, we put these titles on children that need not be there. I know down syndrome children and I know extremely gifted children and both are challenging. Sometime a child is born to be average, and their challenge is not to get lost in the fray of growing up. Actually Gov. Palin has nothing in her personality that makes me think she would be good at home with the baby, she does not look that patient. Todd might be the best prime parent.
I was in an elected position and had to be away from home for 4 days at a time. I hired a cleaning woman. For Palin to tell us that she fired the household help, and that she can conceive, run the government, raise her children, be at their events as in hockey mom, without any stress or strain on the family me believe she is hallucinating and in denial. At home fathers work out just fine if there is a mother who comes home once in awhile to check the bathroom wastebasket, something fathers do not know to do, they do know to check under matresses for reading materials.
This ladybug governor's house is on fire and she can not hear her children crying.
She teaches her children and wants us to teach ours that God and celibacy is the way to diminish teen pregnancy. Well I will tell her that yes, celibacy will work if you are with your children 24/7. It is irresponsible for her to be glib about her pregnant daughter who is a sexually active teen whose mother says no to teen clinics, no to free birthcontrol, no to distribution of condoms, no to age appropriate sex education. She was not home and with these two new challenges in her family she is going as far away as possible she is going to Washington D.C. There are no snowmobiles and moose in D.C.this is a family of children used to something quite different than what she wants to bring them into at a crucial time in their lives.
The little girl holding the baby and slicking his hair with saliva was cute but foreboding, she will be the surrogate mother for this baby, she already knows this, even if mommy doesn't.
Gov. Palin in everyway meets the constitutional requirement for VP because there really are none. But will the people see her as meeting the qualifications for president of the United States god forebid anything happens to McCain.
What we have in that pair is one is too old, his photos from his release for Vietnam war prison reminds us of just how old he is. They should have kept them in the vault. And Palin is needed at her own house, not the White House, her house is on fire, her children are crying.
One of my neighbors sent me this email on September 9, 2008. Thanks, Rockne!
Hi Allison, I thought you should know
I've got to post this. My brother (who is a pastor) sent me this. Feel free to pass it on to anyone who likes a little irony with their politics:
--------------------
Being a pastor, I spend significant time studying scripture – not only in English, but also in ancient Greek, the original language of the New Testament. This week I was amused as I studied Matthew, Chapter 18. Jesus says, “Again, truly I tell you…”This word in Greek stood out: “Again.” It is spelled PALIN . The definition is as follows: Palin adverb; (1) with verbs of going, sending, turning, etc., denoting backward direction, "back" (JN 11.7); (2) denoting a return to a previous state or activity, "again" (Matthew 18:19, JN 4.13); (3) denoting repetition "again, once more, anew" (MT 26.43, 44); (4) denoting continuation furthermore, again, often used in series of quotations or sayings introduced by a formula (MT 13.45; HE 1.5); (5) denoting a turn of thought on the other hand, in turn, again (1J 2.8)(Silver Mountain Bible Software, Analytical Lexicon)Following current events, I can’t help but enjoy the irony of watching the Republican party attempt to distance itself from the recent past even as it selects a candidate whose very name, not to mention political ideology and religious paradigm, reflect a solid return and re-commitment to the belief and practice of our most recent two administrations. "Palin" indeed.Pastor Chris KramerThe Dalles, Oregon-------------------------------------------------
Personally I like the second definition the best. Palin "denoting a return to a previous state or activity" She talks about being a reformer but I'm pretty scared what our country might look like if she really is sitting a heartbeat away from the president.
It's the fourth quarter. This is the time that the great ones step up and close the deal.
As an Obama supporter I am dismayed by the lack of control there is on the message, the candidate and the focus on the objective of winning the election.
The Palin pick has completely discombobulated the Obama campaign. They are actually unprepared for this classic rovian shot into the heart of the campaign. It's shocking first of all, how good Rove is at his game. He truly is a political genius without par.
The Obama camp was slightly better then the Hilary camp, about 150 so votes better. The Repubs are not Hilary. And she was holding back. The Repubs don't hold back, and they control the media. Barack...It's the fourth quarter and you are down by ten points. You have to play D and you have to make smart decisions on offense.
Here's a plan: Isolate your message to a bullet proof chant.
Isolate your message against McCain to three bad things about the ticket and candidate.
Don't go on any more talk shows...Nobody needs to get to know you...Stay on message on the stump, on TV, everywhere and anywhere that you can get coverage. Do not talk with the media about anything off message. The media is not your friend. I watched the ABC show this weekend. You were racked by George S. He is an agent of the media and is not your friend. No one in the media supports you. It's true. Stop trying to make them your friends, they should only serve to support the message.
Hopefully you'll lock it down and come up with a win, but, it's going to be close. The Repubs have hijacked the issues and the election turning it into a culture decision. This has been happening since 1988. Listen to the Clintons, they know how to beat these guys.
Good Luck and Good Night, America is depending on you!
Well it was the second day at the DNC and we were ready for another day. Our days usually went from 5:30am to 11:00pm so we were starting to feel the lack of sleep, but once we got on the lite rail every morning to get to the Hyatt Regency Tech Center, we were wide awake and ready for whatever the day was going to bring to us. After the breakfast meeting, my sister and I hit the town! We weren't in a hotel like everyone else, so we had to stay out all day and we coudn't go back to our hotel room and take a nap or blog (that is why I am blogging after the convention). Anyway, after we walked aroudn town a bit, we headed for the Shariton Hotel to go to Emily's List.
Hillary Clinton was so beautiful up on that stage and she gave such an inspirational speech that touched everyone in the room. Michelle Obama went up there and it felt like she was actually talking to us like we were old friends. It didn't feel like a speech and I think that is what I liked about it the most because it was layed back and real. Senator Barbara Mikulski got on the stage and brought a whole new presence to the room. Right when she walked up to the podium, the energy lifted sky high past the glass roof blocking all of us women down!!! "I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR!!" She was so amazing and she just pumped you up to make a change!! When women are getting 77 cents to every dollar a man makes is just wrong!! We need to come together and do something about it!!
Later that night, I went to the Pepsi Center and watched Hillary Clinton speak once more, it was amazing all over again!!
Secretary of State Sam Reed brags about removing 400,000 names from the voting records. I did some checking and I'm uneasy about the figures I found.
The Washington State Voter Registration Database was launched in January 2006, as required by the Help America Voter Act.
On this page: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/elections/vrdb/VRDBFaq.aspxthere is a graphic showing voter registration database transactionsThe first two categories can be disregarded because they fluctuate month-to-month depending on voter activity. However the next three are stable and do not add up to 400,000
Canceled a duplicate registration 2006-July 2008 = 53,782Cancelled deceased voters 2006-July 2008 = 85,884Cancelled felon registrations 2006-July 2008 = 8,807Total = 148,433
Where are the other quarter million voters? Why aren't they accounted for in the numbers the Sec. of State tracks? What criteria were used to remove the voters?
Will poll voters be in for a rude surprise when they discover they aren't registered this November?
Is your name one of the quarter million names purged from the voter rolls without explanation?
Check here to make sure: http://wei.secstate.wa.gov/osos/VoterVault/Pages/VoterVaultDetails.aspxPass this information to your friends in WA State. Protecting our voter registration is the responsibility of each and every one of us.
Don't let a Republican Secretary of State steal this election. Vote for Jason Osgood this November. Let's get someone in that office who is computer savvy and dedicated to election integrity.
Well today was the very first day of the DNC! It was a ruff start for me and my sister because of transportation and us not wanting to be split up. We tried to get her a credential for the general session, but she wasn't picked in the lottery. There were a lot of stressful moments today about not knowing what to do and where to go and how to get there, but then I surprised my sister with a massage and a manicure at a local spa place, that took a lot of tension off the both of us and we where ready to go to the general session. I left my sister on a grassy lawn and told her I would be out by 6:00 even though the general session was not going to be over until 9:00, but I was worried about her and didn't want her to be alone for too long. I saw many great speakers, sadly not the big ones like Jimmy Carter and Michelle Obama, but I learned many new veiw points of what other people thought of Obama and why he should be in office. Since I was leaving me and this lady, who was an alternate, swtiched credientials so that she could have the chance to be on the floor where all the action was going on at.
It was a very long day, but at the end of it all, I had a really great time and learned a lot. I can't wait for tomorrow and experience even more!! We will get the transportation down sooner or later, but I think tomorrow will go very very well.
I am so glad to have this opportunity and I want to thank everyone who has got me here at this point because I am so grateful to be learning all this new stuff!
Thanks and Peace!
Good grief, our candidate was a community organizer once!
The conservatives seem to have circled the wagons and have begun to blindly shoot at anything that moves.
This sort of tactic was apparent back when conservatives were thought of as crazy and out of touch with american mainstream beliefs and values. Guess what? That day has returned.
While I appreciate the opportunity to work with my fellow americans to solve many of the world crisises before us, it dogs me to know that most of the problems were caused by Republicans. In fact, it seems like every problem I have is caused by Republicans and their "haves" masters.
Republicans have always been good at spotting a flaw and tearing into it like a fresh bagel. But these days, they don't have much ammunition. In fact, I would like to say they are grasping for straws. The plan is to attack Obama's campaign, whether or not there is actually anything offensive. If Obama wears a red shirt, there will be much gnashing of teeth about the lack of blue in his campaign. In fact, they will go so far to champion blue and the obvious discrimination. This is the problem with right wing propaganda. They only have one agenda and that is to harm their fellow americans and give money to rich people. Its very tiring.
When was the last time we saw coverage or analysis on the Obama speech in Berlin?
That's right, ever since we started talking about how "stupid" the McCain attack ads with Hilton and Spears were.
But those ads worked didn't they? The republinuts have the inane ability to manage a news cycle. Call it thier divine gift. They stopped the international coming out party for Obama and instead made us talk about how crazy thier ads were.
Please, don't lose focus. If you ride their crazy train you lose the management of the election and news cycle. People are debating how nuts the republicants are, but remember folks, that's all they are talking about....
Obama needs to initiate a major news cycle this week to gain control of the media cycle. Mccain is starting to compete.
Journalism has an idealistic side. This is the side they teach in school. The discussion of how the fourth estate provides citizenry oversight into the government that is forced to be transparent. Reporting is to provide the democracy the level of awareness necessary to manage the government.
Journalism as practiced today is ineffective to the points above. I have no idea what is true, what is propaganda, and what is an outright advertisement. I spend my time sifting and sifting through tons of information in order to ascertain what the truth is....And by then, it's my truth, completely biased in my small world view.
Journalists are supposed to provide the truth. They are supposed to challenge political statements for their veracity.
Perhaps, it needs to regulated as well. Perhaps, Media Matters should be given a badge and the ability to fine.
CBS proves that it has no journalistic ethos. Perhaps, they should no longer be able to report the news? Maybe we can go in that direction. If you are found decimating the ethos, you get suspended from being able to report the news. At least their would be some sort of retribution. As it stands now, in order to keep journalistic ethics requires a lot of my time...
I found out today that the Ohio voters polled recently have given McCain a ten point advantage within the state.
Im starting to think two things. One, the polls are fixed. And should be regulated by the governement. It appears to me that providing poll numbers is a good way to control the message. I think based on the past republican track record that its safe to say that voting machine, pollsters and secretary of states are probably all paid off in some manner in some way. I don't know how but I leave that to God and/or the FBI if they ever decide to make a difference again in these matters.
The second thing I'm thinking is that the people in Ohio have a problem with Barack. I really can't fathom that based on everything that has happened over the last 7.5 years that the good people of Ohio would actually support death, desecration, depression, and denigration of the US. Ohio is just one of those states...Confused apparently about the credentials needed to be the POTUS.
Ohio has chosen wrong on a continuous basis. They voted for Bush twice...I think the phrase is, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. This would be the third time. Ohio, a three time loser in being able to pick someone competent for POTUS.
I am glad that I am going to be able to help elect Barack as POTUS. He is an amazing talent. I feel energized and ready to press forward with my duties as a citizen. He is a watermark in my lifetime. I just want to reach my hand out to you Ohio and remind you that getting out of a bad rut of picking poorly can be broken. Just do the opposite of what your gut tells you. Cause your guts wrong. Its been wrong for an entire generation...What do you have to lose!
Yes you can!
Here are some general tips for writing "letters to the editor" on behalf of Barack Obama's candidacy (or any candidate or issue you're interested in). & how to use a search engine like Google to find lists of newspapers for your own state or metro area, with a list of web resources for newspapers in Washington state.
& an example & testimonal from someone who got their letter published in their Sunday newspaper.

++++++++++++++++++++QUICK TIPS ON LETTERS TO THE EDITOR:
Successful letters to the editor are often based on a strong news hook or a timely response to a current issue covered by the targeted news outlet (like, Senator Obama's trip overseas, or a release of an "attack ad" by a local partisan group).
The main daily or weekly newspapers in your area will have the most readers, but don't overlook the smaller community newspapers. They're important too, and are far more likely to print your letter. 1) It is best to keep the letter short, to the point, and polite. Remember you are trying to persuade voters. a.) Newspapers generally don't print anything over 200 words, or about 20 lines b.) Stay on message, and stay with one message per letter 2) Write informally and conversationally in tone, you’re writing for your neighbors. Use simple language. 3) You can appeal to the reader’s emotions with imagery, phrasing, and varied sentence structure. Passion is fine, but be polite. A letter from a young person, noting their age or grade, is also very effective. 4.) Like a letter to an official, you can personalize it with something specific that happened to you, or your program, that relates to the issue. The important thing is to write about something that matters to you about supporting Senator Obama. 5) Send it on letterhead appropriate to the author. That is, if you're speaking only for yourself, don't use your business or organization letterhead but only your personal letterhead (if you have any).
If you're announcing an endorsement or official position of your organization, then you can use organization letterhead (check w/ the boss though!).
6.) Include your contact information to verify your authorship; some outlets do not publish letters until they verify who wrote the letters sent to them. 7.) Type it up (newspaper editors will not want to decipher anyone’s handwriting), proofread, and spell check your letter before sending it. 8) Check your local paper for the correct address and editor to send it to. Many papers now have on-line, internet access for sending letters-to-the editor 9.) If you don't get your letter published, it may not have been published simply for space or deadline reasons. You can always send it again, or send it to a different daily, weekly, or community newspaper.
Most states have some organization that has collected and organized state newspapers into lists, as well as official lists usually compled by a state officer with some responsibility over newspapers (such as, the Secretary of State).
Some Washington state newspaper listings found off Google:

http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/wa_newspapers.aspx
http://www.usnpl.com/wanews.php
http://www.dailyearth.com/USNews/washington.html 11.) An example of a successful effort is at "Another Pro-Obama Letter To the Editor" that was published as a blog post. (at http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/dobrocat/gGx42L )
The Fish Fry for Obama in the 37th District of Seattle WA, proved that good old fashion values are still with us in this campaign for Change in the Whitehouse and Presidency supported by change right in our own neighborhoods. Close to 200 Obama supporters ATE MORE THAN 80 POUNDS OF FRIED TALAPIA, (the fish of the Luo people of Kenya) and made friends across every demographic possible at my home in Rainier Valley in Seattle WA.
When my husband Joseph and I decided to build a family home in 1985 in a neighborhood that had more gangs, drugs and gunfire than any in the state people thought we were crazy. But we believed that if all the strong families left our neighborhoods, than who would be a voice for changing things for our children and families. We stayed, I ran and won election to represent the 37th District in the WA Legislature and with so many others in the 37th District never lost focus on what was possible.
So yesterday it was a special moment for Joseph and I, 28 years after the foundation for our house, was poured. Having the kickoff for a season of campaigning for Barack Obama and having so many people coming to Rainier Valley with no feelings of insecurity made us know we made the right decision back in 1985. The diversity of the guests, the collaboration to make the event happen, the fun, and common support for a new way of living together was testimony to what can be if we work for it. We know that what Obama wants for all of us in the United States was showcased our changed community. There is still so much to do though to make things better. We must make sure that the children in the 37th District and all districts can know the success of a good education. We have a lot of work to do in this arena and that is why I endorsed Randy Dorn for Superintendent of Instruction for Washington. The schools in my district are the most racially diverse and has the bleakest achievement, and graduation rates. We can do something about this. When I went to the legislature, one of the first bills I voted for was one that made it illegal for a minor child to possess a gun. So now that we have guns out of the hands of little children, we must work as hard to replace them with books and tools of learning. Randy Dorn, a former legislative colleague tells us that is what he will do.
So we got a lot accomplished yesterday over plates of fried fish, baked beans, some jammin greens, macaroni salad, cornbread and lemonade on a sunny day, in the backyard. We will get back to the grassroots organizing that changed Rainier Valley and let our young people know that it does not happen overnight but positive change always happens when there is a visionary leader and people willing to be focused on what is possible and then are willing to do the work to make the possible a reality.
So think of having your own fish fry, barbecue, wings fling, hot dog roast, or whatever just get some folks together in the yard eating is a common value for all people.
GO BARACK OBAMA!! YES WE CAN, YES WE WILL, SI SE PUEDE!!!

We've all heard tons of well deserved praise for David Axelrod. Here's a nice feature article about Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe.

Baseball and politics are two of David Plouffe's passions. So it was natural that his love for one game reinforced something that proved crucial in the other: Singles can score runs. As Sen. Barack Obama's campaign manager, Plouffe was the mastermind behind a winning strategy that looked well past Super Tuesday's contests on Feb. 5 and placed value on both large and small states.
