Congratulations to President-Elect Barack Obama, Vice President-Elect Joe Biden, their respective families and everyone (Democrat, Republican, and Independent) who helped show the world why this country is the best country in the world.
This is the beginning, not the end. The people have spoken and Barack Obama will be our 44th President of the United States of America. We must not rest on our laurels because there is too much work to be done and President-Elect Obama can not do it alone.
Though you may not see Obama on the TV today, believe me he is hard at work selecting his cabinet and initiating the transition over to the White House. Barack Obama has a vision. He also has a plan to achieve that vision. He is prepared. Now the question is, Are You?
Change. There is a tremendous amount of opportunity in this word. What happens if Washington changes and we, the people, don't? That's right. NOTHING!
We have a unique opportunity right now to keep the momentum of change going. Obama mentioned service to your community and your country and this so very important.
Who will go out and mentor the young and help provide the encouragement and hope that they can be whatever they want to be?
Who will help blend the Whites, Blacks, Native Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and Africans in to ONE AMERICA?
Who will teach others in the community the basics of starting, funding, and running their own small business?
Who is willing to start a dialogue with, and have the patience to ask for help from those fellow Americans that may feel a little put off or afraid because of last nights outcome?
In our fundraising efforts, we showed this country and the world how much more powerful we are collectively and with a common cause. Now is now a time to rest. We must continue this collective effort above and beyond this election and do our part to bring this country back to GREATNESS!!
Proverbs 9:11…that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong,…but time and chance happens to them all.
Nothing can be taken for granted when you're running a race. As late as 4:45pm on Saturday after canvassing alongside my 15 year old daughter, a phone call revealed that I had family members who missed the early vote deadline for one reason or another. With estimates of 40 million early votes in the bag, this election could already be decided. Who knows the winner? Time will tell. What may now be more precious than time is individual determination to finish strong. Election day voters have a challenge ahead, they must endure. Strong endurance has to be the resolve of those left to cast a vote and those of us who expect to win must help them through the final stretch. The swift and the strong have voted and the baton is passed on to the steadfast and who knows what obstacles they may face. To advance the Obama-Biden victory, I urge you in these final hours to reach out and get as close to Election Day voters as you can. Call family members, neighbors and friends. Offer water, juice, soft drinks, a cup of coffee, a candy bar, a free ride, a free call, baby sit, pet-sit, house-sit, a free meal, an umbrella, a hand shake, a high five, a smile. The workday ends for us when the polls close and the last voter is through, then we will have endured and perhaps time and chance will favor us.
Most of us know the clear hard line of corporations like Nike (Just do it), Mc Donald’s (I’m Loving It) and Apple Computers (Think Different). How they arrive at a clear hard line might explain their success and inspire you to embrace Change. Around 2001, a creative and passionate marketer approached me at a pivotal period during the development of my small technology company and guided me through a process that I will never forget. Willis Smith explained that since other technology companies existed besides mine what specifically was distinct about CSMO, INC. In short he asked me: what is your clear hard line? What I thought would take a moment to answer took weeks to decipher. In the end I arrived at the pillars of my corporate values. In summary, my clear hard line stuck in me like steel in concrete foundations. It grounded my technical solutions and centered my customer service. By aligning my scattered thoughts, the clear hard line set in place the reason for my company’s existence, its modus operandi and indeed our battle cry. In a paradoxical sort of way, the clear hard line defines a company’s vulnerability and mission at the same time. Months after Willis Smith was gone, a type of reverse thinking distilled in my mind then finally delivered the following fractals: 1) A clear hard line is the cornerstone of any endeavor; it is the standard by which other stones are cut 2) Without a clearly defined hard line a company may sink from lack of focus or centering 3) The clear hard line defines where resources are spent and 4) A clear hard line is the axis for corporate and institutional balance and could be thought of as a constitutional summary. In this election cycle our clear hard line is Change. It is where we must focus our attention, it is where we must protect our vision for the future, it is where we must center our values and spend our resources. I hope you will join me in recommitting or embracing the new battle cry of Barack-Biden. And long after the election has ended we will commit to the work that Change demands and ensure a better America for our future.

On the night after the Iowa Caucus I basically came to believe in Barack as the one person who could heal our nation and who could solve our many crises. I want him to be president more than I've ever wanted anything else.
Ever since Iowa, I've tried to find special ways to work for the campaign that are within my personal limits. I'm not emotionally able to knock on a stranger's door. I didn't think I'd be able to interupt folks with a phone call. I wouldn't be comfortable attending a meetup and meeting strangers at a bar. I'm telling you this to inspire you to find your own special ways to serve during this final month, if you're not up to knocking on doors or calling strangers. That is, to think outside of the box a bit.
Here's some of the things I've found to do: Housed an Obama staffer/Card table voter registration/Went to my Democratic Precinct meeting to submit a resolution that superdelegates be abolished/Became active in Chatham Democratic politics/was chosen to be events chair for the Chatham Dems/planned some big events/helped renovate 2 bathrooms in exchange for renting a large building for Chatham Democratic Headquarters/Conducted a large sale of fine items ro raise funds for Chatham Dems/Attended as a delegate the County, District, and State Democratic Conventions/ Held 3 fund raisers at my Paint-it-yourself Ceramics Studio....
Now I have something fun for you to do that will send some cash to Obama's Campaign:
Fourth and Final Pottery painting Fun-raiser

Hope to see you there and I hope you'll find other special ways to make Barack Obama our president.

SubjectWhat two weeks of a manifest crisis demonstrates
Message
In the twilight of Bush's Presidency we see that his ability to govern has long sunk below the horizon. Bush's contempt for American ideals was made abundantly clear in the language of the rescue package submitted to a cowed congress: No court or government agency could review the secretary's decisions. President Bush can not suppress his desire to substitute power for authority, even when the future of America depends on the authority of our government and not the power of one man's pen. In McCain's fearless and feckless response to this financial crisis, we have seen a gambler double-down and bet our and our children's future on the coveted jackpot. As reported by AP, in discussing the failed bill, McCain "...warned that the nation's political leaders will have to take risks even though solutions to the crisis may be unpopular". Mr. McCain, America is not a casino. In his cool and reassuring way Obama has sought, above all, to understand this crisis and the delicate role played by a presidential candidate in times of crisis. He has clearly demonstrated that a solution will require determined and practical action from a unified government and not ideological bromides from fearful representatives of the people. Over the past two weeks McCain has shown how he campaigns and Obama has shown how he will govern.
Obama Campaign Knocked On Over 100,000 Doors This Weekend In North Carolina
Thousands of Volunteers Accomplished Unprecedented Two-day Canvass
RALEIGH – The Obama campaign in North Carolina set a goal of knocking on 100,000 doors throughout the state over the past weekend. With the help of over 3,000 volunteers, they not only met that goal, they surpassed it by nearly 8,000 homes! This is an unprecedented effort to persuade Tar Heel voters over a single weekend. Campaign volunteers met at 460 canvassing locations across the state to knock on a total of 107,703 doors.
“This is a record achievement in North Carolina, and we are proud of the hard work of all of our volunteers and supporters,” said Marc Farinella, North Carolina State Director for the Obama campaign. “North Carolinians know that we need change, and increasingly they recognize that Barack Obama and Joe Biden will provide the kind of change we need. With 36 days until Election Day, our grassroots supporters will continue to talk to undecided voters in their neighborhoods and help deliver North Carolina’s fifteen electoral to Barack Obama in November.”“The outcome of the campaign in North Carolina will be determined by friends talking to friends and neighbors talking to neighbors. Our campaign is built upon that kind of contact,” Farinella added.###

Governor Sarah Palin’s Office Refuses to Accept Letter from America’s Moms
MomsRising.org Attempts to Deliver Letter Asking Governor’s Positions on Family-Friendly Issues
See pictures of the attempted delivery here
Fifteen DC-area moms and MomsRising.org Executive Director Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner were turned away this afternoon when they attempted to deliver a letter to Governor Sarah Palin asking her to share her positions on issues like health care, paid sick days and flexible work options. The group was attempting to deliver the letter to the State of Alaska office in Washington, DC.
The letter was signed by nearly 22,000 moms, dads and others from across the United States who would like to know what a McCain/Palin administration would do to support America’s families.
“We are extremely disappointed that we were not even allowed to deliver this letter today,” said Rowe-Finkbeiner. “Health care, paid sick days, paid family leave and afterschool programs are among the issues that are top-of-mind for many families. We were told that we need to mail in our letter and we’re going to do that. We are still counting on Governor Palin to respond to us. ”
The letter says in part:
“It was dazzling to see a mom on the stage at the Republican convention accepting the Vice Presidential nomination. There are too few mothers in the boardrooms and high levels of political office. As members of MomsRising.org we celebrate your path from PTA to Vice Presidential candidate, but we didn't hear much in your speech about what you and your party will do for mothers and families.
“… Our nation can’t afford to ignore the issues of mothers and families any longer. We want to know where you stand on the issues which are critical to mothers like healthcare, fair pay, paid family and medical leave, afterschool programs, childcare/early learning, paid sick days, and flexible work options.
“With now three-quarters of American mothers in the labor force, but a societal structure which hasn’t caught up to that modern reality, we, as a nation, are at a crisis point for our families. Bottom Line: Mothers want to ensure the well-being of their families. No mother should have to choose between taking care of a sick child and feeding her child. And no mother should have to choose between taking her child to the doctor and paying rent.
“Governor Palin, if elected Vice President of the United States, how will you support mothers and families?”
The full text is available on the MomsRising.org web site at www.momsrising.org. MomsRising.org will mail the letter to Governor Palin’s four regional offices, her Washington, DC office and McCain/Palin campaign offices.
The letter is part of MomsRising.org’s MomsVote ’08 effort, which includes Get-Out-the-Vote activities, debate watches, voter registration and educating the candidates about issues that matter to America’s families, like paid family leave, flexible work options, afterschool programs, health care for all children and affordable child care.

Moms Need to be Heard
The MomsRising. org team has written five questions we'd like to see posed to both Palin and Biden in that debate (see the questions below (2)). Let's get these questions to the debate moderator so the American public gets a chance to hear both candidates, side-by-side, answering the same questions. When you click the link above, you'll send a message to Gwen Ifill and cc both of the presidential campaigns to let them know that over 21,000 voters want to hear them talk about these issues (which impact millions of Americans) at the debate.Tell your friends to email Gwen Ifill, too! She needs to know how deeply important these issues are for millions of Americans--and that we demand they be addressed now!Thank you!--Kristin, Joan, Mary, Katie, Laura, Roz, Ashley, and the entire MomsRising. org Team1. MomsRising members are tracking all of the candidates' speeches, tallying any mention of issues that impact moms. See their tallies at www. momsrising. org/candidatesbingo. If you plan to watch the presidential debate tomorrow, September 26th, you can tally the issues, too! Get your scorecard at www. momsrising. org/bingocard -- and keep an eye out for opportunities to get involved as the campaigns continue!2. Our questions:* Right now, the birth of a child is the number one cause of a "poverty spell" in America, and 1/4 of families with young children are living in poverty. Do you support a policy to provide paid family and medical leave to parents following birth or adoption of a new child?* Nearly 1/2 of all full-time, private sector workers in the U.S. have no paid sick days. Do you support a policy to provide paid sick days for workers to use when they or their children get sick?* In most American families, both parents work outside the home. Please tell us what your administration would do to help parents secure excellent, affordable childcare?* Studies show that moms are paid 73 cents and single moms are paid about 60 cents to the dollar for doing the exact same job as men. Do you support the Fair Pay Restoration Act and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act? * A child is born every 41 seconds without healthcare. What kind of Health Care Policy could Americans expect in your administration?
Debate Barr!!!!
Remember Ross Perot? He was the short, old guy from Texas who ran for president in 1992 under a third party called the "Reform" ticket.
But lo and behold, as Sen. John McCain seeks to delay a bout with his Democratic rival, and with a debate date hanging precariously on a ledge tomorrow, there might be an opportunity to widen the public discourse.
Former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr, who once served Georgia as a Republican, has asked once again to be included in the presidential debate, at this moment still scheduled for Friday evening.
"Given Senator McCain's political stunt to avoid the debate, I ask that Friday's debate moves forward without him, as I am more than willing to step in to participate," Barr said in Thursday morning press statement.

The Bailout Explained
Candy Metaphor-Rachel Maddow
Mistakes are made and learning must happen but, if we as a country will bailout irresponsible companies, then I see no reason not to bailout homeowners who have been duped by companies. Gov’t is supposed to be for the people, by the people…not for corporations by corporations…
You can send this to your representatives:
I do not support this bailout..for the reasons this article has sited: Judicial Modification of Loans Would Save 600,000 Homes: Purchase of Securities Will Save Nonevia The Center for Responsible Lending: A resource for predatory lending opponents The subprime crisis is severe and will get worse.Current law excludes homeowners from relief available to yacht owners and subprime lenders.Judicial modification would be effective and cost the Treasury nothing. The Benefits * No cost the U.S. Treasury. * Narrowly targets families who would otherwise lose their homes, and excludes families who do not need assistance. Helps maintain property values for families who live near homes at risk of foreclosure. Saves American families not facing foreclosure $89 billion in wealth by avoiding 600,000 foreclosures by their neighbors. * Complements programs that rely on voluntary loan modifications or servicer agreement to refinance for less than the full outstanding loan balance. Voluntary modifications and refinances are the goal. Judicial loan modification would induce more voluntary modifications outside bankruptcy because everyone would know the alternative, just as occurred under Chapter 12, which was passed to modify loans on family farms in the late 1980’s. Please consider this information carefully
