Nevada is an extremely diverse state—the gateway to the West—and we need to make sure that everyone is getting involved in the democratic process here. Barack’s message of hope and his commitment to change touches an extremely large audience. Make sure that you are reaching out to everyone—including people who might not even be normally interested in politics—and make sure they know what is at stake in this election.
We only have two days before we must stand up for change. As the entire country watches Nevada, you have the ability to make a huge difference in this election by getting people involved. You can help Barack gain the momentum he will need to carry him into the White House. This is our movement, and our moment to change the world.
We need you to give everything you have for two days. Find your caucus location, Find your local field office, and find that place deep down inside to push yourself to do something that will make an impact on caucus day.

Stellar. That is the word to describe Barack Obama. His excellent qualifications include: A warm, genial temperament that respects others and will help to put an end to the "armed camp" mentality between the two political parties. A true compassion for the needs of all, regardless of gender, race or economics. A first-rate intellect, a quick and retentive mind that sees clearly and finds solutions. A dedication to public service that stems not from ego and ambition, but instead from an authentic desire to make things better for all Americans.I've been a party volunteer for decades, and I've never been as excited about any of our fine candidates as I am about Barack Obama. He's the real deal.I urge you to go to the January caucus and voice your support for Obama. Help Nevada lead the way to a rebirth of hope, and a return of integrity to the Oval Office.

As a registered Republican, I asked myself and many of my friends these questions: Do we think Republicans have a prayer of winning this next election? Our answer is no. Do we want Hillary Clinton as our president? Our answer is no. Do we believe Barack Obama has the character, judgment and lifetime experience to unite this country across party lines and restore America's moral standing abroad? Our answer is a resounding yes.As Sen. Obama said: "We are choosing hope over fear; we are choosing unity over division and sending a powerful message that change is coming to America." I don't want to miss out being part of this historic moment.

Last Thursday, Iowa made it clear that our campaign can make history. Tomorrow, New Hampshire is poised to do the same.
Then all eyes are on Nevada.
The entire nation will be looking to you to keep our momentum going.
That's why we're launching door-to-door canvasses this Saturday, starting at every caucus location in the state.
Find your caucus location and sign up to volunteer this Saturday, January 12 at 11:00 a.m.:

This is what a movement looks like, a taste of the year ahead:
Happy New Year! We wanted to make sure that everyone knows how much the work they do is appreciated, and how big of an impact everyone has had in growing our grassroots strength in Nevada.
On Thursday, all across Nevada, we are going to be holding Iowa Caucus Watch parties. This is going to be a great opportunity to see the strength of our grassroots movement, and it’s also a good time to pick up a bumper sticker or yard sign in order to publicly show your support for Barack.
RSVP here.
The January 19th Nevada Caucus is just around the corner and we have tons of things to do to ensure Barack’s victory.
We need all of our Nevada supporters to get involved phone banking, canvassing, or helping at one of our 11 offices around Nevada. There are just a few short weeks before the January 19th caucuses, so we need to make sure we are doing everything we can to ensure Barack is successful in Nevada.
Join us at one of our 11 offices in Nevada and let’s go change the world!
This message was sent from the Nevada Democratic Party. If you live in Nevada, please make sure you get out and caucus for Senator Obama at 11:00 a.m. on January 19th. Look for your caucus location at www.nvdemscaucus.com.
Fellow Democrats and Caucus Supporters,
We have crossed another important hurdle in organizing for our caucus on Saturday, January 19th!
The Nevada Democratic Party has finalized 545 caucus locations statewide to host Nevada’s historic presidential caucus on January 19th. That is more caucus locations in 2008 than there were polling locations in 2006!
Find your caucus location by clicking here: www.nvdemscaucus.com
Some of the caucus locations aren’t your typical polling spots…. An airport, a Cowboy Café, fire stations, a fairground.
But about 75 percent of the locations are in schools, and most others are in public buildings such as community centers, libraries and even a YMCA.
State Chair Jill Derby puts it this way: “No Democrat should have to travel far to caucus on Saturday, January 19th. Finalizing these caucus locations so early shows that Nevada Democrats will be ready to caucus in January, when the eyes of the nation will be on our state. Nevada is ready to make its mark in selecting the next occupant of the White House.”
Please call the Nevada Democratic Party at (702) 737-8683 if you have any questions!
Below is an excerpt from the offical press released today:
The Nevada Democratic Party will partner with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and IMPACTO, 100 Black Men of America, and the College of Southern Nevada to hold the second Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas. The debate will be telecast live by MSNBC and held at the Cashman Center in Las Vegas on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Pacific Standard Time. Nevada, the second state in the nation to hold a presidential caucus and the first in the West to host an early window nominating contest, was chosen as an early state in part because 40 percent of its population is minority, primarily Hispanic and African-American. Issues affecting these communities such as economic development, education, health care and the war in Iraq will be highlighted during the debate. With 11 days between the New Hampshire primary on Jan. 8th and the Nevada caucus, the Silver State could be the a circuit breaker that halts the momentum of the candidate that wins both earlier contests; the tiebreaker if two candidates split the New Hampshire primary and Iowa Caucuses; or the validator for a candidate who wins all three. “Nevada will play a critical role in the selection of our nominee as the first test in the West and the first test of the Hispanic vote,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. “We’re proud to announce this debate and applaud NBC and MSNBC for recognizing the important role of Nevada’s diverse electorate. We thank our co-sponsors – the U.S. Hispanic Chamber and IMPACTO, the 100 Black Men of America and the College of Southern Nevada – for helping to host this historic event in Nevada.” “We are happy that the voters of Nevada will have another opportunity to hear from our candidates before the January 19th caucus,” said Democratic Party Chair Jill Derby. “I’d like to thank IMPACTO, a nonpartisan political action committee affiliated with the Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce, and the African American Democratic Leadership Council for the work they did to secure this important debate in Nevada.” The Executive Committee of the African American Democratic Leadership Council, which includes many of Nevada’s Democratic African American elected leaders, has worked since January to secure a debate that would highlight issues important to Nevada’s minority population.

On Saturday the African American Democratic Leadership Council held a mock caucus in conjunction with the presidential campaigns, local AIDS activists, and local African American community leaders. The Obama campaign has strong support among local African Americans, and our leadership council showed up to help run the event and press more local African American leaders to support our movement for change.
There were a handful of elected officials, including Obama steering committee members Senator Steven Horsford and Assemblyman Harvey Munford, who gave rousing speeches praising the work of the Democratic Party in Nevada. They encouraged African Americans to prepare their friends and neighbors to get out and caucus on January 19th, 2008.
Representatives from several presidential campaigns even praised Senator Horsford, because he was prominently discussed as one of the leaders who helped ensure that Nevada was awarded early state status and given the national focus it deserves.
A lot of the discussion also centered on the fantastic work of Kenya Pierce-- who is leading the “icare, ican, icaucus” outreach plan that targets the African American community.
Kenya made sure to mention the importance of yesterday-- it was Global AIDS Day—and our campaign was committed to not only wearing the Red Ribbons to demonstrate our solidarity, but several supporters were also going to get AIDS tests and were extremely vocal about getting more African Americans to go out and also get tested and end the stigma of the process.
Barack has been a leader in the fight against AIDS and released a statement and a video yesterday.
Members of our African American leadership committee have been very happy with Barack’s commitment to their concerns and they spent most of the day yesterday talking about the hope he brings to the country, and the numerous ways in which he is addressing issues that specifically concern many of their friends, family, and neighbors.
Read about Barack’s policies that address African Americans’ issues.

Knowing that I'm a hugh Obama supporter, a friend referred Black Agenda Report to me. After reading a few articles by Glen Ford and Bruce Dixon I've come to the conclusion that they are incapable of reporting on Senator Obama fairly. Therefore, it is up to us to make sure we add our comments linking the real "truth" to your remarks. You can read one of my recent comments concerning his healthplan for America as an example. http://www.blackagendareport.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=65&Itemid=34
What makes it even sadder is that Bruce Dixon apparently worked with Senator Obama as a Field Organizer in Chicago for his community program. Obama supporters please help me offer a different view on this site by going to the link above. Click on Presidential 2008 to view additional articles we need to address.

Wow! What an incredible event. The Nevada Obama staff planned and executed an award winning event yesterday. The rally featured volunteers wearing "fire it up... he's ready to go" t-shirts, with signage (large and small), mega phones, and fired up supporters that you would have thought were on steroids. The energy level was as high as the biggest fans at the superbowl. The Obama team definately stole the show prior to the debate. And if that wasn't good enough, the team moved to the JJ Dinner at the Paris Resort and ended the night with another "tremendous" show. More on this event later.
So on behalf of Obama supporters and volunteers, CONGRATULATIONS Nevada Obama Staff on an awesome job during the CNN Las Vegas Debate. We are very proud and excited about the temendous impact the activites made and feel confident many votes were wonyesterday. A BIG HIGH FIVE. I know we're all very busy gearing up for our final push to the early states caucus and have much better things to do with our time than these on-line polls, but many of us do take a quick minute to cast our vote if for no other reason than for the fun of it. And I must admit, I hate to lose so I feel a vote or two doesn't hurt.
Recently there were emails regarding the radio station 620KPOJ straw poll. When you selected Senator Obama as your choice the number would actually decrease rather than increase. It smelled fishy to many of us. One of our supporters offered his thoughts on how easy it is to hack into the programing used by this particular radio station. Others voiced this was the reason they don't take the time to participate in on-line polls because they are not accurate. Well, I had to let the radio station know what was going on in hopes they would fix the problem. No luck... My comments weren't taken seriously and although I already understood his position, it would have went much further had he at least offered to check into my concerns. Don't waste your time with this poll. It smells like bad fish... For those interested, here is the General Managers response.
"Yvette, Thanks for the feedback and thanks for listening to AM 620 KPOJ!
There are many people voting all at the same time. If more folks are voting for Kucinich while you are voting for Obama, it is very possible that your percentage could go down even though you cast a vote for Obama. You are looking at percentages, not vote totals.

Don't forget to vote for Senator Obama in the MSNBC Poll.
Pahrump was the place to be this weekend. On Saturday, ten carloads of Obama supporters went out to spread the word about Barack Obama. Here's a bit of a recap of the day's events.
The first pair of canvassers I spent time with were Jack from Pahrump and Mya from Arizona. Jack, a self-described “populist Democrat,” believes canvassing is the premier way of grassroots organizing. Mya added, “there’s power in numbers and canvassing helps us to build the organization necessary to win the Caucus.”
After a lunch break at a supporter’s house, I teamed up with another pair of canvassers: Lelar and Emphraim. Lelar is a precinct captain in Pahrump and was a rookie to the canvassing experience but Ephraim was her guiding light during the day. Ephraim is a student at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona and said he was pumped to spread Barack's message - throughout the day he said we were "Barack-ing in Pahrump". He is heavily active in his college's Students for Barack Obama chapter and spoke at a rally there in early October.
At the end of the day, Lelar said she felt much better about organizing her precinct and that "Ephraim has a room at my house" anytime he wants to come out for another canvass. After Lelar and Ephraim knocked on their last door we headed back for the now infamous Mock Caucus Pot Lockus at a local supporter's house.
To prepare our supporters for the Democratic Caucus on January 19, 2008, the Obama campaign has been holding Mock Caucus Pot Luckus events all around the state. People cook, bake, fry, and sizzle their best meals and house party guests caucus for their favorite dish. As night fell on Pahrump, Nevada, a Mock Caucus took place on the patio of an Obama supporter.
Adrienne Lever, the field organizer for Pahrump, was proud of her volunteers' hard work throughout the whole day. "When everyone returned from the evening canvass, they were ecstatic about the response they had from voters," said Lever. Thanks to all the folks to came out to the Canvass and Mock Caucus Pot Luckus. For more information about getting involved in the Obama campaign in Pahrump please contact Adrienne (email).
The NV Democratic Party is hosting several mock caucus events over the next couple of weeks. Several different days of the week and times are available for your convenience. Come and attend with other dems in your area and have an opportunity to learn about the caucus and participate in a trial run mock caucus.

African American’s for Obama Nevada Launch TONIGHT! 6pm at the Ice House. Free Food and festivities! RSVP to Stephen Brokaw or 702-253-2008…
Tuesday night in Las Vegas African Americans for Obama held their second leadership meeting at the North Las Vegas office. The participants were graced with the grassroots experience of Michael Strautmanis, a senior advisor at Obama for America.
Listen to this inspirational story from Mr. Strautmanis on how he developed a relationship with the Obama family:
The leadership meeting lived up to the high standards set by the previous hosts, Assemblyman Kelvin Atkinson and Senator Steven Horsford, while several new members were brought up to speed on the group’s outreach efforts and their work with African American leaders all across the state.
One of the members of the leadership committee is Alice Key, a 95 year old community activist, who created the Las Vegas chapter of the NAACP and was the executive director for several years. She spent a decade as deputy labor commissioner for the State of Nevada, appointed by Governor Richard Bryan in 1983.
Alice started her community activism while working as a journalist for the The Los Angeles Tribune in 1943, Alice discovered, during a visit to Fort Huachuca in Arizona, that the blood plasma of black soldiers was indeed separated from that of whites. In 1954, Alice moved to Las Vegas to work for the Las Vegas Voice, owned by a long-time acquaintance, Dr. Charles I. West (who helped to end segregation on the strip in 1960). Simultaneously, she started the first black television show, Talk of the Town.
Mrs. Key has been a vocal activist for African American issues her whole life, and has been known to proudly state, “I voted for FDR… the first time!”
Mrs. Key’s catchphrase is especially funny within our leadership group because one of our precinct captains is named Roosevelt and he has over 40 years of political experience. They are both great admirers of our 32nd president and work tirelessly to honor his legacy.
The work of the African American Leadership committee is reaching out to their extensive contacts all across the state as they grow their grassroots organization and build support for Senator Obama. The passion from this group is contagious, and we have no doubt that their work will continue to grow our organization all across Nevada.
