I though I’d start posting some vote signs as election day is just around the corner and early voting is already underway in many states. If you can vote early, find your polling place and go do so!
I’ve provided these signs as ready-to-print PDFs in both standard letter paper (8½ by 11 inches) and larger tabloid paper (17 by 11 inches) sized versions. Every home printer can handle the standard paper size and most copy shops can print the larger tabloid size. See my How to Create Your Own Signs post for tips on how to make your own.

I get many comments from people that want Obama signs, but have not been able to get one - either the order is taking a while to get processed and shipped, or they are unable to get to a campaign headquarters to get a sign, or their local headquarters are all out. This post walks you through the steps to create your own Obama signs.
First, you will need a version of the sign that you can download and print out. I’ve got several versions available for free download - some of the more popular ones are below…
The letter size signs can be printed out on just about any personal printer. Some consumer printers are capable of printing the larger tabloid size, though probably not most. If your printer cannot print the larger size don’t worry - almost all print/copy shops can print tabloid size.
I used FedEx Office (formerly Kinkos) to print out my signs, as they had a simple to use online printing site that let me upload the PDFs (I went with the larger tabloid size) directly to the website and pick them up at my local FedEx Office. Their online tool allowed me to pick out the type of paper - for signs I’d recommend a thicker cardstock paper (I opted for a glossy cardstock). The cost of the tabloid size printout was about $3.

If you want to put the sign outside, I’d strongly recommend laminating it. To make sure it is weather proof you will want to make sure that the laminate overlaps the edges of the sign making a water tight seal. To do this, I trimmed off the white edges from the printout and did the lamination myself (again I did mine at FedEx Office for about $4, though most copy shops can do lamination).

I opted to put my sign out in my front yard. Since I didn’t have anything to hang it from, I decided to stake it into the ground. I happened to have an old sign that I was able to use, though I think these go for about $3 at home improvement stores (maybe less if you can just get the metal posts)…
I use a wide transparent packing tape to adhere the metal posts to the back of the sign (I didn’t use the original “open house” part of the sign). Below is the attached sign, ready to go…
All that is left is to put the completed sign out in the yard…

Here are some additional updated versions of the signs featuring the Obama Biden text with the “O” logo. These signs are ready-to-print PDFs and currently sized for tabloid sized paper (17 by 11 inches) - if you’re looking for standard letter sized paper (8½ by 11 inches) see my previous Free Printable Obama Biden Signs post. The contents of all the PDFs here are vector based and should scale up nicely if you wish to print at even larger sizes.

As president, Barack will promote infrastructure projects and technologies like clean coal that will create good, secure jobs in rural areas. He'll help rural Americans get the health care and schools they deserve by providing incentives and grants that will bring teachers and doctors back to rural towns.

Obama's recent speech in Colorado Springs laid out a long list of certainly ambitious goals to obtain by 2012. I couldn't help but notice a stronger sense of pride when speaking of military affairs during this speech. Perhaps this was due to the criticisms set forth from his service speech back in May.
Here are my favorite points from his service plan:
-Americorps from 75,000 slots to 250,000 slots
-Double the size of the Peace Corps
-4,000 tax credit for college in return for 100 hours annual service (we invest in you, you invest in us)****
-Social Investment funds (leaders from all sectors commune to see which approaches work and which dont)
Favorite Line:
"When it comes to the challenges we face, the American people are not the problem, they're the answer!! .......... We cannot continue to rely solely on the military in order to achieve the national security objectives which we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful...just as strong...and just as well funded."
I'm really glad to see the warm reception from the veterans in the audience. Obama's stance on the military has always been the same: We need a strong military who can act when called upon, but never as a first resort. We need to give them adequate resources to get the job done, provide reassurance that their families will be cared for while they're there, and ensure adequate insurance for the soldier upon their return.
It's no secret that military powers have been severely abused over the last 8 years, which is unfortunate for our troops. And unfortunate for all of us whose American values are questioned when we stand up and say something about it!
I also couldn't help but notice the reference to Jim Webb. VP bells, anyone?
Welcome to my blog. This is the first of many posts to come this exciting election season! Recently I created this organization, the 'Southwest VA Youth League for Obama' to fulfill my desire to change the face of American politics in 2008. I'm currently getting it up and off the ground. I feel that this is the perfect way to serve my country. The youth vote is going to make up over 1/5 of the general electorate this year, and this organization is about bringing together a network of youth here and around the new river valley fiercely dedicated to the Obama campaign. Virginia is up in the air this year. Polls look decent right now, but there is work that needs to be done. Anyone interested in joing the organization, please contact me. Staffers for Barack have said that as soon as he is sure that he has secured the nomination, he will begin his selection process for a VP runningmate. That could easly be tonight. Personally I am strongly opposed to the potential selection of Hillary Clinton for any position in the chain of presidential succession, but not a cabnet or other position. I have taken advantage of the contact form on this web page to share my thoughts and invite you to do the same. (See my comments below). 1. John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws.1
2. According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain "will make Cheney look like Gandhi."2
4. McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."4
5. The Children's Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children's health care bill last year, then defended Bush's veto of the bill.5
6. He's one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a "second job" and skip their vacations.6 7. Many of McCain's fellow Republican senators say he's too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He's erratic. He's hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."7
8. McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.8
9. McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult."9
10. He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.10
