On the night after the Iowa Caucus I basically came to believe in Barack as the one person who could heal our nation and who could solve our many crises. I want him to be president more than I've ever wanted anything else.
Ever since Iowa, I've tried to find special ways to work for the campaign that are within my personal limits. I'm not emotionally able to knock on a stranger's door. I didn't think I'd be able to interupt folks with a phone call. I wouldn't be comfortable attending a meetup and meeting strangers at a bar. I'm telling you this to inspire you to find your own special ways to serve during this final month, if you're not up to knocking on doors or calling strangers. That is, to think outside of the box a bit.
Here's some of the things I've found to do: Housed an Obama staffer/Card table voter registration/Went to my Democratic Precinct meeting to submit a resolution that superdelegates be abolished/Became active in Chatham Democratic politics/was chosen to be events chair for the Chatham Dems/planned some big events/helped renovate 2 bathrooms in exchange for renting a large building for Chatham Democratic Headquarters/Conducted a large sale of fine items ro raise funds for Chatham Dems/Attended as a delegate the County, District, and State Democratic Conventions/ Held 3 fund raisers at my Paint-it-yourself Ceramics Studio....
Now I have something fun for you to do that will send some cash to Obama's Campaign:

He finally got off the fence. . .I think it's because he can see that Obama is winning!
From the Raleigh News & Observer
Democrat John Edwards is endorsing former rival Barack Obama, fresh signs of the party establishment embracing the likely nominee even as Hillary Rodham Clinton refuses to give up her long-shot candidacy.
Edwards was to appear with Obama in Grand Rapids, Mich., as Obama campaigns in a critical general election battleground state, the Obama campaign said Wednesday.
The endorsement comes the day after Clinton defeated Obama by more than 2-to-1 in West Virginia. The loss highlighted Obama's work to win over the "Hillary Democrats" — white, working-class voters who also supported Edwards in large numbers before he exited the race.
Edwards, a former North Carolina senator and the 2004 vice presidential nominee, dropped out of the race in late January.
Both Obama and Clinton immediately asked Edwards for his endorsement, but he stayed mum for more than four months.
Obama also signed on to Edwards' anti-poverty initiative, which he launched Tuesday with the goal of reducing poverty in the United States by half within 10 years.
Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, who has said she thinks Clinton has the superior health care plan, did not travel with him to Michigan and is not part of the endorsement.
The real question on May 6th, is will the voters of North Carolina and Indiana consider the needs of their country, their state and their fellow citizens, or will they fall for the political bribe of a measly fist full of dollars involved in the short term gas tax deal offered by Hillary Clinton. A proposal so flawed it was rejected by no less an authortity than the American Road & Transportation Builders Association and 150 Economists in a signed letter.
Quote..AR&TBA
John McCain and Hillary Clinton have suggested suspending Federal Taxes on all Gasoline/Diesel sold between Memorial Day (5/26) and Labor Day (9/1) this year. According to this study by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, this “Gas Tax Holiday” will lower tax revenue for infrastructure by roughly $9 billion and potentially cost 300,000 highway construction jobs.
The highway trust fund that the gas tax finances provides money to states and local governments to pay for road and bridge construction, repair and maintenance. 300,000 American Jobs Lost. $9 Billion in Federal Highway Funds.
Estimated lost jobs and revenue
North Carolina: 7,071 Jobs and $203,319,748 in federal highway funds
Indiana: 6,390 Jobs and $183,722,596 in federal highway funds150 economists sign letter opposing the gas tax holiday.

No doubt some individuals will grab whatever they can from a Clinton grab bag designed to lure votes, but not in anyway to solve real problems. The Clinton’s know no other way. These are the type of people who would have been first into the lifeboats on the Titanic regardless of women or children.
Clinton says she is tough. What a scream, she should be on Broadway, and what with that pathetic little Annie Oakley act in PA about her early days and guns, she obviously sees acting as paying off. If she’s right and enough people are that gullible, then God help the United States of America at this critical time, if she has cost them Barack Obama.
Hillary and Bill Clinton keeping telling us that she is very tough. Let’s examine that claim. If Clinton is so tough why was she looking for a shoulder to cry on when she lost Iowa. Is that how she would behave in a missile crisis? I don’t believe she was acting then, but she was being devious in looking for sympathy to buy New Hampshire women’s votes. Imagine the President of the United States behaving like that. Unbelievable!
Someone should remind her that tough people wouldn’t resort to lying about what really happened or more correctly, what didn’t happen in Bosnia concerning her claims of having to dodge sniper fire. She still hasn’t apologised to the American people for making those false claims. Hillary Clinton is so used to not telling the truth, she easily and conveniently dismisses her lying as misspeaking! I wonder what a normal household would say to that. Is that what America wants coming out of the Oval Office!
Also Clinton has the most unpleasant habit of trying to mislead voters by claiming credit for the achievements of others. A nasty trait which usually develops quite early in life. One can only wonder how much of Hillary Clinton is actually real as a result. One further example of her deceit, refuted by no less than an Irish Nobel Peace Prize winner, was her claim to have assisted with the peace settlement in Northern Ireland. Shame on you HRC.
It most certainly is not an example of being tough when you are accused of abusing White House personnel with the foulest of language and treatment, when America’s First Lady. It’s also not the sign of a tough person, when you dismiss your opponent’s wins and insult the voters by saying small states don’t count when you lose. Again it’s not tough to try to change the rules and move the goal posts as the score in the contest mounts against you.
Even more seriously, it’s neither intelligent nor exercising sound judgement to threaten other countries with nuclear obliteration simply to try to appear tough to win votes. It’s again not tough nor smart to ignore the fact that the majority of Americans according to consistent polls say they don’t trust you. It is not tough to pretend to be, that which you are obviously not.
Mrs Clinton you are not tough, however I will grant you - you are extremely rough - and there is a world of difference. After your husband’s shenanigans in Office and near impeachment, followed by eight years of the disaster of the Bush Presidency, and the well known fact that voters by a large majority do not trust you, America’s next President will need to be someone, in whom people can have faith.
A President they can trust. Someone who will lead by example and at all times exercise sound judgement, and someone who can win their respect. A President who is also a man of the times, who is bright, worldly, interested in people and not seeking power for power’s sake. Someone who is willing to engage with America’s enemies to find accomodation, to settle differences, rather than all too ready to beat the drums of war in lieu of diplomacy. A la you and John McCain.
Mrs Clinton none of these attributes have been a feature of your political tenure or your candidcacy. If America gets it right this time, it will have it’s 44th President in Barak Obama. Then all of the world can say ” God bless America “.

Yesterday Kentucky Congressman Ben Chandler had the courage to come out in support of Barack Obama, despite the long odds against him winning the state's primary. This was an embarrassment to the Hillary campaign that an elected SD would put the reputation with his own constituents at stake to support the candidate he believed would make the better candidate, president or both.
Today Representative Chandler is feeling the heat for this endorsement. According to Poltico Chandler's phone has been ringing off the hook since yesterday receiving numeros vitriolic complaints, many with offensive racial slurs, about his endorsement of Senator Obama. As of 2:30 PM yesterday, he had received 300 phone calls opposing his decision and only 5 calls in support.
We need to take action on this. Call Representative Chandler's office (especially if you are a Kentucky resident) and let him know that you support his decision to endorse the next President of the United States, Barack Obama!

Monday, April 21st, 2008My Vote's for Obama (if I could vote) ...by Michael Moore
Friends,
I don't get to vote for President this primary season. I live in Michigan. The party leaders (both here and in D.C.) couldn't get their act together, and thus our votes will not be counted.
So, if you live in Pennsylvania, can you do me a favor? Will you please cast my vote -- and yours -- on Tuesday for Senator Barack Obama?
I haven't spoken publicly 'til now as to who I would vote for, primarily for two reasons: 1) Who cares?; and 2) I (and most people I know) don't give a rat's ass whose name is on the ballot in November, as long as there's a picture of JFK and FDR riding a donkey at the top of the ballot, and the word "Democratic" next to the candidate's name.
Seriously, I know so many people who don't care if the name under the Big "D" is Dancer, Prancer, Clinton or Blitzen. It can be Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Barry Obama or the Dalai Lama.
Well, that sounded good last year, but over the past two months, the actions and words of Hillary Clinton have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting. I guess the debate last week was the final straw. I've watched Senator Clinton and her husband play this game of appealing to the worst side of white people, but last Wednesday, when she hurled the name "Farrakhan" out of nowhere, well that's when the silly season came to an early end for me. She said the "F" word to scare white people, pure and simple. Of course, Obama has no connection to Farrakhan. But, according to Senator Clinton, Obama's pastor does -- AND the "church bulletin" once included a Los Angeles Times op-ed from some guy with Hamas! No, not the church bulletin!
This sleazy attempt to smear Obama was brilliantly explained the following night by Stephen Colbert. He pointed out that if Obama is supported by Ted Kennedy, who is Catholic, and the Catholic Church is led by a Pope who was in the Hitler Youth, that can mean only one thing: OBAMA LOVES HITLER!
Yes, Senator Clinton, that's how you sounded. Like you were nuts. Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity. How sad that I would ever have to write those words about you. You have devoted your life to good causes and good deeds. And now to throw it all away for an office you can't win unless you smear the black man so much that the superdelegates cry "Uncle (Tom)" and give it all to you.
But that can't happen. You cast your die when you voted to start this bloody war. When you did that you were like Moses who lost it for a moment and, because of that, was prohibited from entering the Promised Land.
How sad for a country that wanted to see the first woman elected to the White House. That day will come -- but it won't be you. We'll have to wait for the current Democratic governor of Kansas to run in 2016 (you read it here first!).
There are those who say Obama isn't ready, or he's voted wrong on this or that. But that's looking at the trees and not the forest. What we are witnessing is not just a candidate but a profound, massive public movement for change. My endorsement is more for Obama The Movement than it is for Obama the candidate.
That is not to take anything away from this exceptional man. But what's going on is bigger than him at this point, and that's a good thing for the country. Because, when he wins in November, that Obama Movement is going to have to stay alert and active. Corporate America is not going to give up their hold on our government just because we say so. President Obama is going to need a nation of millions to stand behind him.
I know some of you will say, 'Mike, what have the Democrats done to deserve our vote?' That's a damn good question. In November of '06, the country loudly sent a message that we wanted the war to end. Yet the Democrats have done nothing. So why should we be so eager to line up happily behind them?
I'll tell you why. Because I can't stand one more friggin' minute of this administration and the permanent, irreversible damage it has done to our people and to this world. I'm almost at the point where I don't care if the Democrats don't have a backbone or a kneebone or a thought in their dizzy little heads. Just as long as their name ain't "Bush" and the word "Republican" is not beside theirs on the ballot, then that's good enough for me.
I, like the majority of Americans, have been pummeled senseless for 8 long years. That's why I will join millions of citizens and stagger into the voting booth come November, like a boxer in the 12th round, all bloodied and bruised with one eye swollen shut, looking for the only thing that matters -- that big "D" on the ballot.
Don't get me wrong. I lost my rose-colored glasses a long time ago.
It's foolish to see the Democrats as anything but a nicer version of a party that exists to do the bidding of the corporate elite in this country. Any endorsement of a Democrat must be done with this acknowledgement and a hope that one day we will have a party that'll represent the people first, and laws that allow that party an equal voice.
Finally, I want to say a word about the basic decency I have seen in Mr. Obama. Mrs. Clinton continues to throw the Rev. Wright up in his face as part of her mission to keep stoking the fears of White America. Every time she does this I shout at the TV, "Say it, Obama! Say that when she and her husband were having marital difficulties regarding Monica Lewinsky, who did she and Bill bring to the White House for 'spiritual counseling?' THE REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT!"
But no, Obama won't throw that at her. It wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be decent. She's been through enough hurt. And so he remains silent and takes the mud she throws in his face.
That's why the crowds who come to see him are so large. That's why he'll take us down a more decent path. That's why I would vote for him if Michigan were allowed to have an election.
But the question I keep hearing is... 'can he win? Can he win in November?' In the distance we hear the siren of the death train called the Straight Talk Express. We know it's possible to hear the words "President McCain" on January 20th. We know there are still many Americans who will never vote for a black man. Hillary knows it, too. She's counting on it.
Pennsylvania, the state that gave birth to this great country, has a chance to set things right. It has not had a moment to shine like this since 1787 when our Constitution was written there. In that Constitution, they wrote that a black man or woman was only "three fifths" human. On Tuesday, the good people of Pennsylvania have a chance for redemption.
Yours,Michael MooreMichaelMoore.comMMFlint@aol.com

David Price and Mel Watt will endorse Barack Obama.
The two Democratic superdelegates are slated to announce that they are backing Obama in a conference call at 1:15 this afternoon, Dome has learned.
In recent weeks, both had said they would make an endorsement before the state's May 6 primary, but they had kept their preference private.
The two are influential in state politics. Price, often called the dean of the state delegation, is a political science professor who helped design the superdelegate system while working for a national commission led by former Gov. Jim Hunt.
Watt, who served as campaign manager for Harvey Gantt's race against U.S. Sen. Jesse Helms, had previously expressed doubt that America is ready for a black president. He is the former head of the Congressional Black Caucus.
The announcement brings Obama's count of North Carolina superdelegates to six, including U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield, former Democratic Party director Everett Ward, party vice chair Dannie Montgomery and lobbyist Joyce Brayboy, who previously worked for Watt.
Hillary Clinton has just one, Charlotte Councilwoman Susan Burgess.
That leaves 14 uncommitted superdelegates in North Carolina, including two who will be named at the state convention and party chairman Jerry Meek, who has said he will remain neutral.
Previously: Watt, Price are among five endorsements that matter.

John Hope Franklin has endorsed Barack Obama. The renowned Duke University historian praised the Democratic presidential candidate's ability to bring together people of different backgrounds and party affiliations.
"He has shown an ability to bridge the divides in our society and unite people behind his agenda for change," Franklin said in a statement.
The endorsement is a coup for Obama because Franklin served as chairman of President Bill Clinton's Initiative on Race in 1997.
He has also been a Hillary Rodham Clinton donor, giving $500 in 1999 and $750 in 2000, according to The Center on Responsive Politics.
I really, really don't get this one.
In the context of what he was saying, bitter is a good adjective to describe the feelings of the people concerned.
If my job went overseas and I was let go because of it.. . I'd be bitter, wouldn't you?
Maybe I'm missing the point here. . . especially since Bill said basically the same thing in his memoirs. . .
"If [Republicans] could cut funding for Medicare, Medicaid, education, and the environment, middle-class Americans would see fewer benefits from their tax dollars, feel more resentful paying taxes, and become even more receptive to their appeals for tax cuts and their strategy of waging campaigns on divisive social and cultural issues like abortion, gay rights, and guns." -- Bill Clinton, in his 2004 memoirs,, making the same argument as Sen. Barack Obama.
Plan to Strengthen the Economy Provide Middle Class Americans Tax Relief Provide a Tax Cut for Working Families: Obama will cut income taxes by $1,000 for working families to offset the payroll tax they pay by creating a new "Making Work Pay" tax credit of up to $500 per person, or $1,000 per family. Simplify Tax Filings for Middle Class Americans: Obama will simplify tax filings so millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes, giving the option of pre-filled tax forms to verify, sign and return, saving Americans up to 200 million total hours of work and aggravation and up to $2 billion in tax preparer fees. Labor Raise the Minimum Wage: Obama will raise the minimum wage, index it to inflation and increase the Earned Income Tax Credit. Ensure Freedom to Unionize: Obama cosponsored the Employee Free Choice Act to assure that workers should have the freedom to choose whether to join a union without harassment or intimidation from their employers. Technology, Innovation and Creating Jobs Create New Job Training Programs for Clean Technologies: The plan will increase funding for workforce training programs and direct these programs to incorporate green technologies training, such as advanced manufacturing and weatherization training, into their efforts to help Americans find stable, high-paying jobs. Obama will also create an energy-focused youth jobs program to invest in disconnected and disadvantaged youth. Invest in U.S. Manufacturing: The Obama comprehensive energy independence and climate change plan will invest in America's highly-skilled manufacturing workforce and manufacturing centers to ensure that American workers have the skills and tools they need to pioneer the first wave of green technologies that will be in high demand throughout the world.
"My mother died of cancer at 53. In those last painful months, she was more worried about paying her medical bills than getting well. I hear stories like hers everyday.
For 20 years Washington has talked about health care reform and reformed nothing. I've got a plan to cut costs and cover everyone. But unless we stop the bickering and the lobbyists we will be in the same place twenty years from now."

We still have work to do, people! We can't have another 4 years with a republican president!
from the Raleigh News & Observer (Raleigh, NC)

And state voters gave Arizona Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, higher marks than either Democrat on both counts, as well as on his credentials to keep the country safe, according to a poll conducted for The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, WNCN-TV in Raleigh and WCNC-TV in Charlotte.
"[It's] his whole background," said Democrat Robert Brown, 46, an online trader from Chapel Hill. "He was a prisoner of war. He's an upfront, straight-talking man."
But the poll also found that four in 10 voters are still undecided. That suggests that the contest could lie in the hands of people such as John Clark, a Charlotte salesman.
"Until either of them can distinguish between their policy positions or electability, I'm probably going to stay on the fence," said Clark, 29.
The poll, based on 803 telephone interviews conducted March 29 to April 1, found that trust is most voters' top consideration. Nearly nine in 10 said it would play a big role in determining their votes.
Only 25 percent of voters gave Clinton high marks for trustworthiness, compared with 54 percent for McCain and 48 percent for Obama. Even Democrats ranked Clinton lower.
"I don't trust her because of the fact that she's having Bill [Clinton] pretty much run the race for her," said Sarah McClary, a 33-year-old nurse from High Point. "And all her stories are pretty much coming back to bite her."
The poll was conducted as news reports contradicted Clinton's account of once coming under sniper fire in Bosnia. It mirrors a recent Gallup Poll that found 53 percent of Americans say Clinton isn't "honest and trustworthy." Just 29 percent said the same for Obama, an Illinois senator, and 27 percent said it of McCain.
On Day One? Survey says McCain
Clinton's claims of experience don't appear to be helping her among North Carolina voters.
Her campaign slogan is "Ready on Day One." But state voters say McCain is best prepared to walk into the White House and lead. And as many Democrats give Obama high marks for readiness as they do Clinton.
The New York senator has tried to underscore her national security credentials in other states with a television ad featuring a ringing phone.
"It's 3 a.m., and your children are safe and asleep," a voice says over pictures of children tucked in bed. "But there's a phone in the White House, and it's ringing. Something's happening in the world. Who do you want answering the phone?"
But just 39 percent of likely Democratic primary voters give Clinton high marks for her security credentials, barely more than Obama's 34 percent.
Even Democrats ranked McCain higher than either candidate.
Poll's other findings
The poll also found:
* Two out of three voters give Obama high marks for his ability to connect with voters. That compares with a third who gave McCain and Clinton high marks.
* Three of four voters ranked Obama high in intelligence. That's more than the two-thirds who gave his rivals high marks.
* North Carolina voters say they're also looking for candidates who aren't afraid to take tough stands, who offer the ability to unite the country and who hold the promise of change.
The poll didn't ask about general election match-ups. But 20 percent of Clinton supporters say they would vote for McCain if their candidate doesn't win the Democratic nomination.
That compares with 13 percent of Obama supporters who say they'd vote for McCain if Obama is not the nominee.
One-third of voters said McCain's age -- he's 71 -- could hurt him in a general election.
(McClatchy Newspapers reporters Steven Thomma and William Douglas contributed.)
These are pieces that were created by Obama supporters on March 16 at Paint Your Pot in Cary, NC. Over $600 was raised for the Obama campaign. Thanks to Dan the Pottery Man for making it happen! See you at the next one to be held on Sunday April 13.
