I'VE NOTICED THAT SOME POLITICIANS HAVE GONE BACK TO BUSINESS AS USUAL. AFTER ALL WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH DURING THE CAMPAIGN AND ALL THAT NEEDS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED FOR OUR GREAT NATION... HOW DARE THEY? PLEASE CONTINUE TO WRITE YOUR LOCAL REPS AND NEWSPAPERS TO SUPPORT THE OBAMA/BIDEN ADMINISTRATION. LET THEM KNOW THAT WE WON'T GO BACK TO BEING IGNORED. WE WILL VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE!
SOME POLITICIANS WANT TO CONTINUE THE PUBLIC POSTURING AND SOUND BITS THEY HAVE USED IN THE PAST JUST TO LOOK LIKE CHANGE. REAL CHANGE LOOKS COOPERATIVE AND BIPARTISAN. WE MUST HOLD THESE SENATORS AND CONGRESSPEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. VOTING ALONG PARTY LINES WITHOUT CONSIDERING WHAT'S GOOD FOR THE NATION IS OLD HACK. CLAIMING TO HAVE A DIFFERENT PLAN WHEN THE ONE IN PLAY BY PRES. OBAMA IS GOOD ENOUGH IS OLD HACK. MAKE THEM DO THEIR JOB WHICH IS TO GET RESULTS; NOT MORE CLOSED PARTY MEETINGS. REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS ALIKE MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO IGNORE THE MANDATE OF THE PEOPLE TO SUPPORT PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA.
END THE OLD HACK NOW! WE DID IT BEFORE, WE CAN DO IT AGAIN.

When has January 20th, ever been such a wonderful day! Here in southeast (blue) Virginia, it's dark, cold, windy, with a winter storm front headed our way, but still it's an absolutely amazing day!
Our new president is finally here!!!
I did the Call to Serve yesterday, and it's amazing how just cleaning up your community for 2 hours, can make you feel proud. I am so proud to be able to do my part for my city, state and country!!
We need to do our part, like our new president will do his.
I love this place!! U.S.A.
America and the world hare keeping palestinians in the largest prison in the world.
srael: positioning in israel for elections, Every leader in israel is looking out for the next election and the person who appears to destroy their enemy more will have more votes.
ethnic cleansing and genocide: Israel want to clean Palestine of its tribes and families to annex the palestine.
caving in to settlers. Israel want to clean Palestine of its tribes and families to resettle its own people.
Positioning in America: Israel wants to be the number one subject of america policy, not just policy. They want more tax dollars, and more lobby is out asking for money than they say. Reality is that Even journalists are making the case for more money to isreal. My take is that there is more problem in the world than israel. How about the congos, suddan, zimbabwe, somalia, and every place else in the world where poverty is killing people in silence?
The world has helped israel for centuries. Yet israel remain in the middle of every turn of help, despite the fact that it is the richest nation in that hemisphere.
Obama needs to tell israel that enough is enough. Obama needs to tell israel that it is high time America had other friends in the world and help the countries in the world that need American help enjoy a peaceful life, not a life of war.
America needs to start rewarding countries that exibit peaceful process to progress, to move faster, not those countries that are constantly vie for international and american attention with killings and genocide. WE NEED TO START REWARDING THE GOOD GUYS IN THE WORLD, NOT THE BAD GUYS.
I PROPOSE THAT THE US GOVERNMENT INSTITUTE A PRICE FOR ITS FOREIGN AID: 1ST PLACE GOES TO THE COUNTRY THAT HAS MADE MORE PROGRESS AND IN PEACE. AND SO ON, DOWN TO THE 5TH PLACE. NO COUNTRY WITH HUMAN RIGHT ISSUES WILL WIN, AND NO COUNTRY THAT HAD HAD A WAR IN THE PAST 5 YEARS WILL EVER WIN. EVEN IF THEY BECAME PEACEFUL, THEY WOULD HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE IF THE PEACE HELD FOR 5 YEARS.
We elected Obama for American problems, not for israeli problems.
The people's reaction is slow but steady, like a drop in the stream, or fast like a pouring deluge. Push them hard enough, and there is no stopping the resulting flood and devastation, one election rigging at a time.
WE DID IT!!! WE DID IT!!
We The People have won back our country!! What an amazing time and journey.
This proves that this country works from the bottom up!
We did it and we did it together!!
One country...one fantastic, amazingly blessed country.
God bless America!!
Monday night, we drove three hours to see Barack in Manassas, Virginia. We had fasted all day and prayed the beautiful prayers written and shared by our prayer group! My cousin, who voted early, saw Obama in Charlotte, North Carolina just a few hours before. Traffic was heavier than usual - Redskins' game, breakdowns, and 90,000+ people headed to the fairgrounds! We took three of our children with us [the others were working or away]. Barack was fabulous. My husband almost cried he was so touched by Barack's words and the courage he displayed as the news of his dear grandmother's passing was still fresh. We were both close to our grandmothers so we really have compasssion for him. Barack told the story of the woman in South Carolina who turned a dreary rainy day into something special when she kept saying to him "Fired Up - Ready to Go!" That's how we felt in Manassas, the night before the election of the century! We felt an urgent sense of purpose - and Fired Up! Ready to Go!
When the event was over - 90,000+ slowly left the fairgrounds, encouraged and determined to vote - no matter the lines, the rain, the wait, no matter what. We got home at 2 am in the morning. On the news, they said as late as one in the morning, people were still inching slowly off the fairground where the last rally before today's election was held. Wow. We had just left Virginia after canvassing all day in Winchester on Saturday and canvassing in Pennsylvania two weeks before. What a week! What a month! What a year!!!
6 am Tuesday morning, I was back in the car, picking up our daughter in DC, checking on my 85 year old father, checking in with my sister, my cousins, my aunts and uncles in Virginia and North Carolina . All was set. We all went to vote. In DC, we stood in a line this morning that wrapped around the block for two hours - it didn't feel like it. Cars honked as people drove by on their way to work. People waved, people screamed "OBAMA. " It was festive. It was emotional. It was transcendent. We were all so happy to be in line for THIS VOTE. I took pictures of my neighbors. We took pictures of the line. We took pictures placing the ballot in the box. My daughter did the electronic thing - this is her very first Presidential Election! She said, "Mommy, I'm so glad this election is my first time." My niece told her mom 'thank you.' She said she finally understood why we had rallied, and argued, and protested, and knocked on doors, and fought so hard all these years. She said we did it so that she, my daughters, our children, all of us could see this day. It was an amazing day.
My father was dressed as if he were going to work. At 85. and a veteran, he's in great shape. He walked briskly to the car and drove himself to vote with great pride and determination [he's at a different precinct than me]. Daddy was so proud of what he had to do today! I know he was proud watching his daughters and his granddaughters going to vote, too. Isn't that what he fought for? Thank you GOD. I witnessed three generations voting all together on this most historic day! It was amazing. Thank you GOD for blessing this process.
Our hearts are filled with PRAISE!! Thank you GOD for the Victory of Barack Obama as the new President-elect of the United States of America - the Whole United States of America. One Nation, under GOD!! We Thank You GOD! Peace to All - Rita
Thank You so much for stepping up to the plate President Obama. Thank you to all the advisors. Thank you to all of my fellow volunteers! Thank You to everyone who got to that voting poll and did the right thing!
We DID IT!

May GOD bless us all!
I though I’d start posting some vote signs as election day is just around the corner and early voting is already underway in many states. If you can vote early, find your polling place and go do so!
I’ve provided these signs as ready-to-print PDFs in both standard letter paper (8½ by 11 inches) and larger tabloid paper (17 by 11 inches) sized versions. Every home printer can handle the standard paper size and most copy shops can print the larger tabloid size. See my How to Create Your Own Signs post for tips on how to make your own.
Letter (8½ by 11 inches) size…
Tabloid (17 by 11 inches) size…
I get many comments from people that want Obama signs, but have not been able to get one - either the order is taking a while to get processed and shipped, or they are unable to get to a campaign headquarters to get a sign, or their local headquarters are all out. This post walks you through the steps to create your own Obama signs.
First, you will need a version of the sign that you can download and print out. I’ve got several versions available for free download - some of the more popular ones are below…
The letter size signs can be printed out on just about any personal printer. Some consumer printers are capable of printing the larger tabloid size, though probably not most. If your printer cannot print the larger size don’t worry - almost all print/copy shops can print tabloid size.
I used FedEx Office (formerly Kinkos) to print out my signs, as they had a simple to use online printing site that let me upload the PDFs (I went with the larger tabloid size) directly to the website and pick them up at my local FedEx Office. Their online tool allowed me to pick out the type of paper - for signs I’d recommend a thicker cardstock paper (I opted for a glossy cardstock). The cost of the tabloid size printout was about $3.
Here’s the sign as it was printed…
If you want to put the sign outside, I’d strongly recommend laminating it. To make sure it is weather proof you will want to make sure that the laminate overlaps the edges of the sign making a water tight seal. To do this, I trimmed off the white edges from the printout and did the lamination myself (again I did mine at FedEx Office for about $4, though most copy shops can do lamination).
Below is my laminated version of the sign…
I opted to put my sign out in my front yard. Since I didn’t have anything to hang it from, I decided to stake it into the ground. I happened to have an old sign that I was able to use, though I think these go for about $3 at home improvement stores (maybe less if you can just get the metal posts)…
I use a wide transparent packing tape to adhere the metal posts to the back of the sign (I didn’t use the original “open house” part of the sign). Below is the attached sign, ready to go…
All that is left is to put the completed sign out in the yard…

“The commander in chief doesn’t just need to know how to lead the military, he needs to understand what war does to military families.” --Michelle Obama
Michelle's focus group: Military families
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1008/14733.html
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Once portrayed as unpatriotic, Michelle Obama has quietly carved a niche on the campaign trail as a sounding board for military families, taking up a cause that could define her agenda as first lady. Every few weeks, Obama meets with military spouses in swing states, where she presents herself as a kindred spirit and Barack Obama as the best choice for their families. She attended the two debates with military family members. And at the Democratic National Convention, she led a day of service on behalf of Blue Star Families for Obama, a two-month old group with the tagline: “Pro-Military, Pro-Obama.” Obama aides say her work with military families has nothing to do with the controversy created by her February comment suggesting that the presidential campaign made her proud of the United States for the first time. But the effort could be viewed as an exercise in counterprogramming, serving as a rebuttal to criticism from Cindy McCain and others for a comment that Michelle Obama insists was misinterpreted – and the notion that her husband, a Democrat with no military service, cannot peel off voters from John McCain, an ex-Navy pilot and war hero. “Barack and I know that too often it feels like you are alone, on your own,” Obama told military spouses last month in Santa Fe, N.M. “I know you become everything. In a small way, I have experienced that over the course of this campaign, but in no way does it compare to what you are going through.” Michelle Obama's focus on military families puts her at the leading edge of the Democratic nominee's campaign to reclaim some of the military vote from Republicans – an effort that brought Barack Obama here Sunday for a rally near Fort Bragg, where a military wife introduced him and he touted his endorsement from Colin Powell, the retired four-star general and President George W. Bush's first Secretary of State. Since the start of the campaign, Michelle Obama says she has focused on three things: keeping life normal for her young daughters, electing her husband, and discussing the work-life balance with women around the country. The spouses of service members captured her attention during a roundtable with working mothers, and she later hosted her first military-focused event in Fayetteville in May, a day before the North Carolina primary. She will hold her seventh military spouses meeting Tuesday in Pensacola, Fla., following similar events in recent months in states heavily impacted by deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, including Virginia, New Mexico and Pennsylvania. At each roundtable, she sits on stage with several spouses, delivers prepared remarks and opens a discussion. The roundtables draws local media coverage, and she answers questions about her involvement when asked by national reporters, as she did during an interview with CNN at the Democratic convention. “Mostly I am here to listen and to do a lot of learning and then to transfer that information into the heart and mind of my husband as he moves forth,” Michelle Obama said in Norfolk, Va., in August. “The commander in chief doesn’t just need to know how to lead the military, he needs to understand what war does to military families.” Her work in this area offers a hint at what could dominate her time in the White House. “If she becomes first lady, this will be her cause,” said Amanda McBreen, 47, a Marine wife who participated in the Norfolk roundtable and helps coordinate 24 state chapters of Blue Star Families for Obama.Michelle Obama pledged to do so in the Oct. 27 issue of U.S. News and World Report, when she explained what she would do if her husband became president: “I would work daily on the issues closest to my heart: helping working women and families, particularly military families. … I'd continue these conversations with working women and military spouses, and I'd take their stories back to Washington to make sure that the people who run our country know how their policies touch their constituents' lives.” But Kathy Roth-Douquet, a founder of Blue Star Families and a Marine spouse who supported Hillary Rodham Clinton in the primary, said she wishes more voters knew about Michelle Obama’s work. “She is probably the most motivating figure in the military family community,” Roth-Douquet, 44, said. “We like Obama, but we love her. She gets what we are getting.”
