From the Democratic Party:
For a few months, we've had Democratic Party "trackers" recording hundreds of hours of Republican candidates in the field. From event to event, we've got footage of some pretty revealing moments. Some are regular Americans putting a candidate on the spot with a tough question. Others are blatant contradictions. A lot of it is just the standard candidate stump speech. The footage isn't high quality, but it's straight from the field -- and there is a lot of it. Since there's more than my team can realistically process, we've decided to throw it up on the web and put the Party's most powerful asset -- you -- to work. As soon as a tracker leaves an event in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, or wherever they're taping a Republican candidate, they'll head to a computer and upload it directly to a special section of Democrats.org called FlipperTV. That means you'll have a chance to go through the latest video the same time we do.Nobody has ever done anything quite like this before, but with the Internet giving ordinary Americans like you access to the tools you need to change an election with the click of a mouse, we need to make sure you have everything you need to do just that. The video is yours -- you can just let us know what you find, or you can take it, re-mix it, add music, and make your very own ad out of it. It's up to you. Take a look:http://www.democrats.org/FlipperTV

Iowa is skipping Christmas this year because we have more important things to do. With the Jan. 3 caucuses only nine days after Christmas, we cannot hold the caucuses and celebrate Christmas without shortchanging each. The caucuses are the start of the presidential race. Christmas is the birth of Jesus, celebrated by gift-giving. Given this choice, Iowa has opted to shop for a president rather than shop for presents.Iowans take their presidential picking seriously. We're sacrificing our Christmas for the good of the country. The state has been designated a no-fly zone for reindeer; sleighs will be towed and Santa will be arrested for trespassing.Fires for roasting chestnuts will be extinguished. Hot dogs, cole slaw, potato chips and soda will be served at Dec. 25 candidate potlucks. Donations for the needy will be diverted to needy candidates.Television stations will pre-empt "It's A Wonderful Life" for "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." Edwards, Obama, Romney and McCain will be flying into the state in place of Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen. In lieu of Rudolph, Iowa will have Rudolph Giuliani.Iowans will be mailing candidate brochures instead of Christmas cards. You'll find us at candidate rallies, not Christmas parties. We're making our lists and checking them twice for each candidate's stance on Iraq."Joy to the World" will be sung everywhere but here and "Come All Ye Faithful" will be a phrase used by candidates addressing supporters.Although Santa Claus isn't coming to Iowa towns this year, our stockings will be stuffed with promises from the presidential candidates. Despite the obvious differences between Christmas and the caucuses, they do share one stocking stuffer: the promise of peace on Earth.
It was quite the weekend for Barack Obama supporters in Texas!
Early Saturday morning folks full of excitement, preparing and speculating Barrack’s visit to the State, met at Rice’s parking lot organizing last minute plans for the caravan to Austin.
Around 10:30 AM the group left the parking lot. The leader of the caravan, Sue D driving her family vehicle displaying “Obama Austin Today” on the rear windshield, and also nicely decorated with red, white, and blue ribbons drove away carrying posters, rainbows, banners and a message of hope.
Once in Austin this very fortunate Houston group together with other lucky Obama supporters negotiated a prime space on stage. They became the animated and enthusiastic backdrop to the Senator during his amazing and direct delivery to the 3,000 folks attending the event. Our Houston team encountered a Texas size downpour all the way home. Ken Piggee said the excitement of the “Countdown to Change” and the encouraging words of Obama helped carry them through the storm.
Sam Felsen on MyBO has posted a Flickr slide show on the community blog:

Just before the “Countdown to Change” event in Austin Obama made a stop in Houston. The Chase family organized an elegant fundraising luncheon for the Senator in their private home. Tony Chase gave a warm introduction to his old-time friend Barack and thanked the 200 guests for their contribution and support to the campaign. It is a great experience to see Barack in an intimate setting. Tony stood next to Obama holding the baby and distracting the Senator who admitted having a difficult time concentrating on his speech with this beautiful baby staring at him. The fundraiser was a great success; Tony announced they had raised over 30% more than the estimated original figure.
Super job Chase, thank you for bringing Obama to Houston, let’s do it again soon!

Hillary Clinton has a comfortable lead in national polls among Democrats. The New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College gives Hillary 43% of the vote in the crucial primary state of NH. In Iowa, The Des Moines Register places Mrs. Clinton with 29%; here Edwards and Obama are nipping at her heals with 23% and 22%, respectively.
As someone who avidly follows American politics and its actors, I find myself asking, “Why Hillary?”
Clinton, her staff, and supporters have worked tirelessly to shroud the candidate in cloak of inevitably, hoping that likely voters will consider her, and only her, when primary (and caucus) season rolls around.
I am sure that there are other reasons, but I cannot think of one.
Let me be more specific, I can think of the reasons that the Clintons and their political machine have hammered into the media: experience, the right kind of experience, and more experience.
It may be prudent, then, to begin elucidating on Hillary’s experience.
Hillary Clinton was a First Lady to governor and President of the United States, Bill Clinton. Check.
This is an odd item on a resume to highlight. Barbara Bush, Nancy Reagan, and Rosalynn Carter are all still ticking. I do not recall these women having an interest in the Oval Office. What does a First Lady do, anyways? Traditionally, they host the annual Christmas gala and pick out a tree. Jackie Kennedy made the post famous by designing an immaculate White House garden. More recently, Hillary Clinton redefined the position by snuffing momentum to reform the health care industry in the 90s – i.e. Hillary Care.
Hillary side-skirts this issue by framing the disaster as a learning experience. “Health Care is a tough business. I have the scars to show for it.” Which is like saying, “I failed to save your right arm with surgery. However, I am ready to save your left arm.” Screw that. If a doctor (or any professional) is incompetent, you find someone better. I refuse to trust one of my generation’s most important issues to an individual who has roundly failed to solve the problem in the past. And don’t get me started on the fact that Hillary Clinton is the leading recipient among presidential hopefuls (both Dems and Reps) of campaign contributions from Health Care lobbyists. The woman has accepted over $4 million from the Health Care industry. I doubt she has my interest as a health care consumer as a priority.
So, Hillary Clinton was an awful First Lady. Although, she may have been a decent gardener.
Hillary Clinton is the junior Senator of New York. Check.
She ended her career as a dim-bulb First Lady and began a career as Senator. This is commendable, but… so what? She complains, from her high horse, that Senator Barack Obama lacks the necessary experience to be President, when she has served a paltry four more years in the Senate? Please.
If we are judging this Presidency on professional experience alone, we should elect Governor Bill Richardson. The man is a former United States Representative, United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Secretary of Energy, and the current Governor of New Mexico.
Hillary Clinton is a woman. Check.
At risk of sounding like a chauvinistic pig, why does this matter? Michelle Obama put it best:
And people have said….that they just feel like, you know, it’s Hillary’s turn. That, I reject because democracy isn’t supposed to be about whose turn it is.
If we are to agree it is a woman’s turn, when should we, as Americans, agree to when it is an African American’s turn to be President? Or Latino, Jew, or Arab American? It is incumbent for voters to pick the best candidate, not the best sex, ethnicity, or religion. Besides, didn’t Elizabeth Dole run for President in 2000?
There are many more things – a seemingly endless list of reasons – to discount Hillary’s experience. I am but a lowly blogger, and shall leave that task to better writers.
I can, though, attest to her experience as a polarizing figure, betting that she will surely provide another decade of division among our politically-torn country. I can also depend on her years of triangulating to excuse her from providing any substantive answers to the issues of the day. Didn’t Kerry get killed in the polls for being a flip-flopping waffle-eater? And we can depend on her… wait, what else is there?

Friends,
Shopping for Halloween stuff at Target yesterday I met a gentleman at the checkout counter. He made a comment about my “Obama for President” button and asked a few questions.
He was familiar with the war in Iraq, but did not know about Barack Obama. I know it’s hard to believe, but like Michelle Obama said when she was here, “There are folks out there that do not know about Barack”.
There are things we want to change, and there are things we may not be able to change such as some of the incorrect, elaborate fabrications about the Senator in the media. I say lets focus on elementary, simple things we have the power to do. Sign up for an event near you or create one.
Let’s build grassroots momentum, let’s inform our neighbors about what we know is true, lets get the word out about Barack Obama, the possibilities of change, and the need for something NEW!
Join us at the canvass event tomorrow in the Houston Downtown area.
A total of 400 flyers were handed out and 20 campaign contribution forms. A total of 3 volunteers worked the booth at various times through the day. The predominant comment by an 80% margin was to effect of "don't know who to vote for." Second most predominant comment by 10% was "not voting for Hillary," and 3rd most predominant comment by 5% was "I only vote Republican."
In summary, generally very positive views of Barack Obama for President. Most notably, the children of the Republicans were clearly Obama supporters even if their parents claimed not to be.
458 Days 10 Hrs 54 Min 51 Sec.....till America is rid of Bush.
In the mean time come and play a part to plan the future.
RSVP for an event near you or create your own!
Hope to see you on Sat Oct 27!
The phrase is “Barack the Vote”!!!
This enthusiastic group of Obama volunteers hit the streets of Houston’s Sixth Ward yesterday in synchronicity with many other walkers in America. After knocking on doors and talking to perfect strangers on the street we split up into two groups. Some went to the Downtown Art Fest where we were given the thumbs-up about our T-shirts and attracted a few more volunteers for future stunts. The other group headed to the Montrose Block Party taking there the “Barack the Vote” word.
Hope you can join us on our next event, it was a blast!

See you next time!
Barack Obama is not just the right candidate but “the only serious candidate”. You heard this before and the more I think about it the more I understand the urgency to participate in this campaign.
My friend Theo from Utah says don’t let this country fall into the hands of candidates who are hoping that you are too demoralized and hopeless to make a difference.
Let’s support Senator Obama in his effort for change in America!
Attend a canvass this weekend, it’s so much fun being with fellow Obama supporters and walking together for change.
Canvassing Sat Oct 13 @ 9 AM - 1518 Washington Ave, Unit H, Houston TX 77007 713.542.0721.
Get out there!!!
While in Fort Worth last week during a car club convention I met Sheila. Sheila is the mother of two American soldiers now back from Iraq. Both suffering painful and life long injuries. One was discharged after the Army realized he would need life long rehabilitation and they did not have treatment for his illness. The other soldier suffered severe injury to one leg. Sheila said “that leg causes him to fall and have accidents often, and it will eventually have to be amputated”. Sheila says she is dealing with the emotional pain and that her best therapy is the joy of her grandchildren. Sheila also says both men say “this war” has to be won and they would go back if they could. I gave her a hug and holding on to my Obama button (a permanent accessory on my shirt) I thanked her for her courageous character and to extend my heartfelt gratitude to her children for their selfless contribution to our country. This is the first time I actually meet a real true tragic war story and I have been sick ever since. I too have two men children and can only imagine how a mother would cope with such pain.
Houston for Obama volunteers mingled with the Race for the Cure participants this morning. Wearing our "Texans for Obama" shirts and displaying confident smiles attracted folks asking for information re. the campaign. Great Job TEAM!
Volunteers will be canvasing for the Senator on Sat Oct 13th all over the country. Folks spreading the news about Barack Obama's plan to change America will be walking neighborhoods near you. Let's team up, let's take responsibility for this great effort to change our Country, let's make a difference in the Obama campaign!
If you would like more information regarding canvasing there will be another "neighborhood organizing" meeting at the Corkscrew on Thursday Oct 11 at 7 PM, 1919 Washington Ave. Houston TX 77007 - 713.542.0721.
