It may be considered a Bible war going on in the internet but ladies and gentlemen when someone markets teddy bears, t-shirts, with Psalms 109:8 on it in reference to President Barack Obama, it is time to turn up the serious valve and ask is this an American Jihad and where are the religious leaders when you need them to stand up and exhibit contentiousness against such a decree!
And what is the CIA, FBI and Secret Service doing about any of this?
Last night we were happy to attend a lively celebratory gathering of a few local Castaic residents and their children, who were pleased that the election process was over.
No one ever said phone banking, literature dropping, knocking on doors, sign posting, writing letters to the editor, and attending house parties; community forums; teacher meetings; and eating on the run aren't exhausting. But when you have a candidate you believe in and they hugely win, you begin to see the overall wealth in "participating in the process". . . You have in affect, effected the "change that you believe in". Sound familiar?
Just the day before rising at 4:30PM Tuesday, November 3rd for poll working at 6PM to 9PM seemed to be a calling of the truly willing. The sound of shower water awoke me and slowing I shuffled for my bath robe.
A lady arrived at 7pm the first to cast her votes for the local Castaic School Board and local Newhall Water Board candidates. She was overly cheerful. Don't you love morning people! Overall 3% of the total electorate went out to vote in LA County. Makes you think about CNN news portraying poor nations clamouring and excited to be able to go the polls, standing in line through rain, snow, sleet at daybreak heavily clothed and expelling warmth to frosty air, to have the advantage of selecting their leaders. it is important to them. We are either spoiled, reckless, or presumptious that someone will speak to our concerns when we don't go vote.
Why didn't people realize their local elections are where their true political power begins. Last I heard, we still have the ability to take two hours off of our jobs to go vote, it is a federal mandate.
Have people forgotten that little American caveat.
But in spite of these concerns we wish to say:
CONGRATULATIONS TO ATTORNEY SUSAN CHRISTOPHER, the original OBAMA GIRL for our region
and
LAURA PEARSON, AND VICTOR TORRES, whom we met for the first time!
So we soldier on for the next election, the next campaign and the next nail biting returns . . . being proactive in the change that we believe in . . . Peace out, Minerva & Todd Hoover,
Journalist Jeff Greenfield responded to the ongoing battle from the media this week, when reporting, that the FOX NEW’S DEPARTMENT is being accused of being the research and communication’s arm of the Republican Party. He also says that “. . . Fox’s bottom-line has increased 13% since Obama came into office. So perhaps they are crying all the way to the bank”.
Obama accuses Fox News as appearing “to be more like a talk show format and not a news format”.
There is no question that the Rupert Murdoch owned conglomeration’s opinions predominately favor the far Right Republican agenda. So when the White House decides not to give more fuel to Fox’s perceived negativity and refuses to be on their programs, is this an exercise of free speech? On the other hand, is it an exercise in futility? The points of views coming from the White House will be interpreted as the voice of the Obama Administration no matter what the administration representative says when they appear on FOX. Being fair however, MSNBC has been called the most left in their presentation of Obama’s opinions. So to whom do we listen for the “true news story”? Nevertheless, who would that be?
Where do we find a news source that is truly balanced? Personally, I find I have to listen to them all and weigh what seems “logical”, but I was taught in journalism school and at the LA TIMES that politics are highly hinged in “manipulating emotions and the illusion”.

You had the creepy crawlies when you walked out of the Buck McKeon Saturday 9AM Community Townhall Meeting on Healthcare Reform. Some women left crying and skeptical about the future. You don't see this in any video! You had to hear their comments. I even heard women from Wells Fargo who were hissing mad! "These are selfish nuts and liars", she said. I told her welcome to the club. She asked me if there is "anything that she can do", please call her. I've BCC'd her to this message and will call her later today.
My final analysis: In creating a future of change, I agree it requires talking to neighbors, friends, family and congressional leaders. The future for our American grandchildren will require healthcare reform. If number crunchers have already determined that in another 15 years our healthcare premium costs will be equal to our take home pay, how are we going to live? Not all families have the ability to have two or more breadwinners in one family.
We are in a day and age of automation, why should insurance companies utilize 30% of their costs for administrative needs?
Why should insurance executives make 10 times the average income of the American citizens’ that they are fleecing for corporate jets, penthouses, exorbitant bonus plans, elaborate **** luxury resort motivational seminars, and vacation trysts.
Meantime, your healthcare needs are being minimalized or denied because it will diminish the lifestyles of the stockholders, the insurance executives and their bottomlines.
If the insurance companies were truly honest they would accelerate incentives for illness prevention, better eating habits, exercise programs, promote positive lifestyle choices and encourage physical and mental rest to increase healthy clientele.
Questions we need to ask ourselves is why would someone who has government tax paid Roll Royce insurance belittle you into believing it isn’t important for you to have affordable, adequate, and accessible medical coverage and a decent delivery system. To do otherwise is downright “stupid-headed”. To know this information is not enough! It isn’t political ladies and gentlemen, it is a human need. Don’t just read this. Do something that is an investment in your healthcare future. Fight for healthcare reform.
If you are interested in more information on what to have at a helathcare forum please email us: minwilli@gmail.com; or visit our website: www.scvyoungdems.org. It isn't too late to have your voice hear. I know many are tiring to the subject, but I believe this is what the opposing side wants, to wear us down and they they'll have their way with us, business as usual.

His goals for the plan are to:
• Reduce costs for families, business, and government (Government needs it to cut health care costs)
• Provide choice in coverage and providers
• Provide quality affordable care for all in 2009 (Businesses need it to survive)
President Obama says that if we don't get Healthcare Legislation this year we won't get it.
Our GOAL is to Promote that Healthcare Reform is NEEDED. And that it CAN HAPPEN.
WE MUST Pressure your Congressional and Senate Representatives to support government initiatives and policy bills on Healthcare Reform.
ALL people want action, not delaying actions ON THIS ISSUE.
ALL people want to the government to reign in health care costs.
ALL people SHOULD TRUST their neighbors and co-workers more than the “talking heads on TV.”
The goal OF THE OFA CAMPAIGN HEALTHCARE is also to reasonably present the case for need and ability to succeed on HEALTHCARE REFORM,
And to inform people in every United States community about this issue and collect their own stories.
And to get the people in every U.S Community to mobilize for an Event and Rally plus the possible National Healthcare Service Event to show Congressional leaders we are all serious about the IMPORTANCE OF HEALTHCARE REFORM and are holding them accountable for any failure they may have to come up with a solution for Healthcare Reform and that we will exercise our right to show our displeasure at the polls as each congressional leader comes up for re-election if they do ignore the importance of HEALTHCARE REFORM NOW.

P.S. Here are a couple of sheets you can fill out and think about before the meeting:
BRAINSTORMING ANSWER SHEET
Where do you see the need for Health care reform in your City?
Are there any particular Healthcare concerns that affect your community?
Has anyone ever volunteered at a community Health center in your community? What was it like? Could we set a service project there?
Are there any healthcare related organizations in your community that utilize volunteers.? How can we work with these organizations?
How does our project relate to getting Healthcare Reform Passed?
WHAT IS THE FAVORITE EVENT chosen by our group of volunteers today?
The way for the U.S. to secure a leadership role in the 21st century is by leading on all the issues that confront the world, to exhibit thoughtful strength and realistic ideas. It will require more than military strength, diplomacy, reversing the current economic chaos, and strong alliances. Our place in the world, our rights, and our freedom depend on leading based on principles we don't just preach, but practice.
In the case of our reckless, decades-long descent into a position where we are addicted to fossil fuels mostly coming from abroad, the time for new ideas is past due. Clean new energy sources aren't just good for our children and the environment, they're a key to our national security. Now more than ever our leaders must partner with innovative businesses and entrepreneurs to make the United States more self-reliant again. The President and the Congress must resist the insidious temptation to do nothing about energy while dealing with the various other domestic and global challenges.
Of course, no matter if the business is banking or big oil, well-funded special interests don't want to give up the loopholes they've lobbied for over the years. They work to preserve their special deals with Congress, while lobbying the media into misleading Americans with catch phrases such as "Cap & tax" to keep us from thinking about what's at stake.
While most Americans support a cap on carbon pollution there's now a flood of "talking points" and sound-bites circulating about the supposed short-comings and dangers of any new plan. The real threat of cap-and-trade is that it doesn't favor the mega-corporations, and the ultra-rich energy barons. Changing to new and cleaner energy sources changes where the money goes - more of it stays in the U.S., in smaller, newer companies; it creates jobs that we desperately need to recover from the fiasco of letting the financial giants "self-regulate."
"It looks like green jobs are real. Recently, two solar energy companies — Hemlock Semiconductor Corp. and Wacker Chemie AG — announced billion-dollar investment plans to build plants near Clarksville and Chattanooga." U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN)
U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN)
In fact, a cap and trade system simply uses pure capitalism to reward efficient, innovative businesses while it effectively penalizes out-moded industries. Used world-wide it plays to American strengths, conveying tremendous economic advantage to industries and countries ready to innovate, and results in domestic job growth. Only somebody making lots of money off the existing rules could possibly deny the benefits of a global cap and trade system.
Many members of Congress benefit from huge campaign donations from energy companies. They'd be happy if we'd all stop paying such close attention to how energy policy intertwines with national security. They smile and want you to "trust" them to get it right, and the longer they've been there the more they want you to just trust, and not verify, that they're working for you. Uh huh.
Linda and I were working yesterday so did not get to watch President Obama's health care summit conference (except for a few peeks now and then whenever I got a chance to leave grandma Teshima's busy kitchen to sit at her coktail lounge where there is a TV almost forever tuned to CNN.)
Whatever I did get to see, though, must say was rather NICE! People were RESPECTFUL, rather CIVILIZED I should say, even when there was an R by their name, and Mr. President looked so calm and IN CHARGE. Can only hope and pray this trend continues.
Got a hold of our local paper tonight anyway, and was generally pleased with the way this process is starting off. We liked "Every voice has to be heard. Every idea must be considered...The status quo is the one option that is not on the table." As well as, " Those who seek to block any reform at all, any reform at any cost, WILL NOT THIS TIME AROUND." (Emphasis ours.)
But our favorite, and the AP writer Liz Sidoti mentioned the next item just for us we think. Did anyone get to see our President SNEEZE? Twice in fact, according to Sidoti. In jest the President said, "This is a health care forum, so I thought I'd model what happens when you don't get enough sleep." (Emphasis ours.)
Linda and I wonder if this was really JEST? Was this actually planned as he states (he "thought" or was thinking that he would...) albeit jokingly? Likely not. Was this "blurb" sub-conscious, or the little incident a revelation of his sub-conscious mind and perhaps own PHILOSOPHY concerning the whole matter? Or even an unintended but PROHETIC (type of) statement FOR ALL OF US? That there is a CAUSE and an EFFECT ("...what happens when...") to be carefully considered and understood when it comes to taking care of one's own INDIVIDUAL health concerns?
Well, we'll leave this at that because we don't want to get people too worked up or scared and we know our cool calm collected and REASONABLE President does not want to either, that much we are sure. Linda and I are not too crazy "health freaks." Well, maybe Jason is, but not me, Linda, hi! He did say however, that he wanted "every idea...considered." We suspect (and we venture to say) that he is (personally) big on PREVENTION. Who knows?
Let's all try for CONSENSUS, though, let's meet in the middle, find common ground to agree upon, with all our strength. We are so proud of all of you at the summit who carried yourselves with such ADMIRABLE RESPECTFULNESS towards one another and our President. We wish you all out there the best possible health, and we ask the Lord to bless all those working on the health care reforms needed so urgently in this country to be completely successful in their endeavors to bring relief to our people. Thank you o merciful Saviour, in Jesus' name we pray, amen. Love and aloha from Jason and Linda Izumi from Kona, Hawaii.
Well, Linda and I will flush our blushes and be the first to confess we used to shun all toilet tissue, oh excuse us, that is, TOILET PAPER, except for the fluffiest and most comfortable of them all: Charmin Ultra Extra Soft. But now that we learned from the recent New York times front page article about how HARMFUL to the environment it is to manufacture TOILET PAPER, we shall announce to all of you that we will sacrifice a bit of comfort and will here on buy TOILET PAPER only made from RECYLED sources, as recommended. And may God please forgive our sins!
NOW THAT WE GOT YOUR ATTENTION: We challenge EVERYONE to BOYCOTT ALL TOILET PAPER MANUFACURING COMPANIES THAT DO NOT PRACTICE RECYCLING!!! Let's clear ALL the shelves of ALL our country's stores, THROUGH BOYCOT, of All TOILET PAPER that is not made from a RECYCLED SOURCE! Please help save our trees, air, water and planet by doing this TOGETHER!
And imagine what a message this would send to just about EVERYONE: companies, corporations, politicians, our BELOVED PRESIDENT HIMSELF, etc. if this boycot is done "en masse," on a large scale -- because everyone would know these are PRESIDENT OBAMA'S PEOPLE out here (who else would make such a fuss over toilet paper except progressives with VISION) and that we know and understand and SUPPORT his agenda, and not only concerning the environment, but the economy, foreign policy, civil rights, etc. etc. -- his ENTIRE AGENDA!
Oh, we forgot, there probably isn't enough recycled toilet paper to go around! Oh well,... just a thought. (And we really thought we were getting somewhere with this idea!) Well maybe we should at least put EXTREME PRESSURE on our stores to stock up on RECYCLED STUFFF in general anyway. And as our President has said, we need to start from the "bottom up." (Please forgive us that pun!) But let's do all think about this a bit: rattling the top from the bottom up...We will all soon have to ratchet up the gears as we go forward with the White House Agenda anyway, and (we Obama people) need to be the first to be willing to make "progressive " CHANGES in OUR OWN WAYS OF THINKING AND IN OUR OWN DAILY LIVES.
Aloha, mahalo and God bless! -- Jason and Linda Izumi from Kona, Hawaii, where we have to admit with regret, we do currently have a serious and shameful waste management problem on this otherwise lovely island.
P.S. Remember the BostonTea Party, when those feisty patriots dumped all that tea in the harbour? Well, just a thought...
We're posting this everywhere since this is of importance to all: The President did not need to remind us Tuesday that our health care system is in shambles and that our health care PRACTICES are DEPLORABLE, but we are confident he will put together the best people to eventually come up with a good over all health care plan, and we will certainly support him.
That said, and because prayer requests for a lot of sck people, many without adequate insurance coverage, have been pouring in to our e-mail lately, WE WOULD LIKE TO ASK: Did you all hear that great word that took less than a second to come out of President Obama's mouth: PREVENTION? He has been saying all along that PREVENTATIVE measures will be an important part of this plan.
Well, we can all start RIGHT NOW to help ourselves attain good health and help PREVENT a lot of PAIN, SUFFERING AND ANGUISH for ourselves and our loved ones by LIVING A HEALTHFUL LYFESTYLE -- sensible diet, sensible exercize, adequate sleep, positive thinking, prayer, EDUCATING OURSELVES on this matter and concerning our own ailments, sensible supplementation, etc. etc. As the saying goes, "an ounce of PREVENTION saves a TON of CURE," and a lot of MONEY, too, for you and WE.
We understand that with the current state of our market system, which is totally invaded by greedy chain restaurants, stores, pharmacies and markets which have absolutely no concern for our healthful well being, it is a tough battle to make healthful choices. But we fortunately ARE STILL ABLE TO MAKE CHOICES, and we should try to make HEALTHFUL ONES. That said, we do hope the Obama administration will do something about the proliferation of these chains.
Also, we feel strongly that the CURE FOR CANCER that President Obama touched on will ultimately have a great deal to do with PREVENTION. Of course, not all disease is "preventable," but a lot are. We encourage you all to please consider seriously to make healthful and PERMANENT changes in your lifestyle, and feel better and be a more productive person for it.
Well, just a thought anyway. We pray for the best of health and vitality in mind, body and spirit to all of you as we all endeavor to do the difficult work ahead of us in these most difficult of times. We pray for the good health of our President as well, and for his family and administration, and may God Almighty bless them and guide them to help this country and this planet move in the right direction. In the name of Jesus the Christ we pray, amen. Love from Jason and Linda Izumi from Kona, Hawaii.
just read about subidies to the state's for aquaculture in the Stimulus Bill; I assume that would be fisheries and the like. I just wanted to say that was an excellent idea. In fact, if there was one thing the U.N. could do to justify it's existence it would be to promote the controversial proposition that more fish in the ocean is better than less fish in ocean. The U.N. should be dropping fisheries off all over the world, in kits with brill shrimp if they have to. I support more fish.
I would recommend that we breed Chesapeake Bay oysters onto pyramid shaped reeflike structures; specially designed to support and encourage the oysters growth. Then plant them all over the Bay, outside of shipping lanes, in well marked areas. It used to take 3 to 4 days for oysters to filter all the water of the Bay, now it takes over a year. What would this take besides, aquarium, some miniumum filter (you'd want the oysters to feed after all), plankton, oysters, and a something for them to grow on, that is not the walls of the aquarium (you might let a few stay on the walls for breeding stock) and can be transported later; and convincing a state to pay us until Uncle Sam pays them? oh and a Boat. and some Buoys. Thoughts?
At last, after many weeks in the planning and development stage, our very own Mybarackobama.com (MYBO) inaugural celebration event has finally found its form, nature and place, and we are thrilled and proud to announce the...
MYBO Grassroots Inaugural Ball 2009, the Social!
http://grassrootsball2009social.eventbrite.com/
We've come full circle, right back where we were supposed to be!
Initially intended to be held in a Capitol Hill church social hall -- and always imagined as an "alternative" ball --, the event grew rapidly in the early flush of euphoria and excitement of our victory in the days following the election, but through the worries and the vagaries of fundraising and just exactly how crowded Washington, DC would be for this historic occasion that we all want to witness and celebrate in a financial environment that encouraged anything but confidence, the MYBO alternative ball's future in the balance, we find ourselves welcomed by the Universalist National Memorial Church, "a liberal Christian church in the heart of the city."
The MYBO Grassroots Inaugural Ball 2009, the Social is intended, as one of our fundraising volunteers put it, to be a ball:
“that will celebrate Obama's election, and celebrate the hard work we did to get to this point – and provide a space to network with fellow Obama supporters to get "fired up" for real change, going forward.
There are tons of official and unofficial inaugural balls, but the difference is this one will be affordable (hence the need for sponsorship) and Obama volunteers will have the first crack at tickets (rather than the tickets just going to the highest bidder.)”
Universalist National Memorial Church provides us an ideal space in the community at a price that allows us to accomplish our mission -- tickets priced so that everyone who would like to attend to meet so many people with whom they have exchanged on MYBO and want to meet after all these months can afford to attend.
For tickets -- $26 per person!! -- http://grassrootsball2009social.eventbrite.com/
BYOC, or bring your own champagne! The event will include food and a bar featuring wine and beer, an assortment of non-alcoholic beverages, but if you would like to raise a toast to Obama with bubbly, please feel free to bring your own bottle, or one to contribute to the bar. You may also help us off-set bar costs by contributing a bottle of white -- the church asks for no red in their furnished parlor, sorry! --, and the caterer will accept for refund any unopened bottles they provide and we do not need to consume.
There will also be music with performances by local and home-grown MYBO talent.
Attire is cocktail or semi-formal, but please wear what makes you feel comforable. If you need to come directly from another event that doesn't permit you to dress for the evening, such as the Day of Service at the MLK Memorial Library, please feel welcome to come as you are.
Sponsors needed! Help make the MYBO Grassroots Inaugural Ball 2009, the Social a success -- become a sponsor at any level you can. Your non tax deductible donation will help with food, bar and entertainment for the evening. It's simple. The more those of you who can afford to give something more, the better the evening for all. It's The Obama Tax Plan at work, so let's put our money where our mouths are! Click here to make your donation. It's easy and fast with Google Check-out.
DC for Obama and Mayor Fenty Office's MLK Day of Service Activity (9 am to 4 pm).
The MYBO Grassroots Inaugural Ball 2009, the Social is joining together with DC for Obama, which will be collaborating with Mayor Fenty's Day of Service events and will be sponsoring supporting those in need through serving food at the MLK Memorial Library throughout the day. Please join us and take a step towards supporting others who may have less.
We will be providing further information on how you can become a part of this important day of community service and hope that you will be able to join us in taking this step to fulfil President-elect Barack Obama's call to community service.
Then, join us for a memorable evening getting to know in person so many of the people with whom you have worked, and with whom you have become friends, on MYBO.
Thank you!
