I really enjoyed watching this event last night. It was awesome to watch the President's Cabinet walk in first, all of these brilliant men and women. Stephen Chu, the Energy Secretary who has won a Nobel Peace prize for physics, others who we know from their great work on behalf of working people like Lisa Jackson and Hilda Solis, the new Secretary of Labor who was confirmed just hours before. The new U.N. Ambassador, Susan Rice, Treasury Sec Tim Geithner, all filing in with big smiles on their faces.
First Lady Michelle Obama is seated looking stunning and radiant, and then comes President Obama. After making his way thru endless handshakes and hugs, a remarkable moment occurs, he kisses Hillary Clinton on the cheek. I burst out laughing with joy to see these once fierce rivals now perfectly on the same page, the same team, showing affection for each other for all the world to see.
Then the President goes to work on his address, summing up the full horror of what has happened to our country because of the incompetent actions of his predecessor. The President sums up the difficult task before the country, compels us to face the truth of it, and then asks for sacrifice to rebuild everything.
Volunteer. Serve others. Reform. Serve your country. Go back to school and get more training or a degree. The President asks us to act, not to sit and watch while he struggles with the mess President Bush has left behind.
Lastly, the President inspire us with a vision of hope, as only he can. We will overcome this chaos and destruction, we will emerge stronger than we ever have because Americans are not quitters, they shine when confronted with the most difficult challenges.
After watching this greatness, I was glad once again that all of us who voted for Barack Obama made the right choice.
but I am NOT ON BOARD with this guy even passively anymore.
He's a rabble-rouser of the worst sort. And - he kills Africans and supports those who do so.

You are The Boss... which team would you hire? With America facing historic debt, multiple war fronts, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, skyrocketing Federal spending, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, Republican adminstration nationalizing public traded financial institutions and threatening war with Russia, etc. etc., all in all this is an unusually critical election year.Let's look at the educational background of your two options:Obama:Occidental College - Two years.Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight..... * If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different." But.... * Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, yours is a quintessential American story. * If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim. * Name your kids Willow, Trig, Bristol and Track, you're a maverick. * Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable. * Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded. * If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience. * If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive. * If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian. * If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian. * If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society. * If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible. * If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's. * If your husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DUI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable. OK, much clearer now.

I remember the last few words of the Palin speech the other night because they hit me hard. I thought to myself and then actually verbalized to my husband, a reformed Republican voting for Obama) that I could not believe Palin has just uttered the words she did. They are as follows:
"Al-Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America....he's worried that someone won't read them their rights?"
My comment was that no matter who, what, when, where, or why, all people have rights that need to be upheld. John McCain was a prisoner of war, as we all know, and is basing much of his campaign on his POW status. DOes he agree with this? Don't all human beings deserve the right to a fair trial? Or as captives, to be treated humanely?
Come on! Republicans need to wake upform their cultish sleep and actually LISTEN to the words their nominees are saying!
As I read through the blogs I see that many have again lost the focus of this campaign. POSITIVE.
Let us not lose focus. Let us remember why we support Barack Obama. Let us stay positive. Let us have continued HOPE. Let us eagerly await the CHANGEBarack will bring to government.
And most importantly, let us continue finding unregistered voters and sign them up, get Iowa voters to vote early, register teens, support this campaign monitarily, canvass on weekends, make phone calls, plan and attend events, reach out to the undecided, organize fundraising, and be the CHANGE that Barack speaks of in his speeches.
We can not afford to lose our focus in the critical times of the next 60 days.
I support Barack Obama for the following reasons:
HOPE, INTEGRITY, INTELLIGENCE, JUDGMENT, CHANGE, BELIEVE, INSPIRE, ELOQUENT, CHARISMA, PRESIDENTIAL, FAIR, PASSION, COMPASSION, HUMANITY, HONEST, EMPATHY, CHARACTER,TRUTH , KNOWLEDGEABLE, URGENCY, NOW, TRUST!
It gave me goose bumps this evening at 5:30 when the ABC NIghtly News with Charlie Gibson brought us live the vote from Senator Hillary Clinton to disban the usual formal way of reporting each states' delegate count and just unanimously give all delegate votes to Barack Obama. I actually cried as I watched history being made right there in front of me.
Then I once again got goose bumps knowing that I had a huge part in this history making event. For it was Iowa that started this ball rolling with the caucus victory going to Barack. And I did play a huge part in working toward that win.
November 5th I will wake up knowing that I helped to elect the first African American President of the United States of America!!!!!!
I am thrilled to be able to welcome Senator Joe Biden to this campaign as the Vice Presidential nominee along the side of Barack Obama. Together they make a wonderful team that is ready to lead this country right now! HElp elect this ticket so we can move forward in America.
Welcome Joe Biden and family!!!
I cannot stand to listen to ANY of the McCain ads that slam our next President, but the one that talks about how Barack will cause an economic disaster really gets under my skin.
We all know his claims are inaccurate lies, but there are people out there know believe this hogwash. Higher taxes, higher gas prices ...... let's recruit more supporters, get more voters to commit to voting in their state, and get those who are not registered to vote registered now!
At my recent visit to the Iowa State Fair my family and I participated in the corn kenel poll for the Presidency. That's right, you walked by the booth, they gave you a kernel of corn and you placed it in one of two jars labeled with McCain and Obama.
Of course the 4 of us placed our kernels in the Obama jar. And as it looked at that time, Barack was a full jar and 1/2 ahead of McCain. I sure hope this is true in November!!

Today I left my home on the Western portion of Illinois to drive 2 1/2 hours to Chicago to participate in a very special, very unique experience that was brought togther by this Obama site.
Quite by chance a few weeks ago someone saw my "Barack's Birthday Bash" listed on this website. The woman who saw the event posting contacted me to see if in fact Barack was going to be in attendance. My reply to her was something like, "Don't I wish!"
Through various email contacts this woman and I finally exchanged cell phone numbers so we coud have a chat. It turns out she, Maria, is a former news anchor who left her job in April to pursue a new endeavor of documentary film making. She and I had a couple of wonderful conversations when she then told me she was traveling to Chicago for a bit of a family vacation and business trip. She wondered if I would be willing to sit in front of her on camera to be a part of her documentary on Barack Obama. She said I was one of the missing links to the completion of the film.
So, thrilled to have been asked and honored to have had so many positive experiences while volunteering for this campaign, I graciously accepted her offer. She knew that I had a dog through our conversations so requested I bring my Obama dog along.
We arrived at the designated meeting place ready to meet Maria, Steve, the camera man and Dan, the sound man. Glad to get out of the car and stretch, my 11 pound Manchester Terrier and I went inside to see what site had been selected to shoot the section I will be a part of in the documentary. Oh, and yes, she does have committed air time for this documentary sometime this fall!
We drove a short distance to a small inner city park, quite a quaint location with only a small amount of neighborhood traffic walking through, and set up for the shoot. Maria asked me some questions pertaining to the campaign, how I became involved, and my opportunities to meet Barack while working in the state of Iowa.
I was with them for a total of to hours. It flew by! But out of this strange occurance meeting online came a meeting in person of four Obama supporters and Maria, a very compassionate and charming woman.
It is so remarkable the relationships that are built by being a part of the Barack Obama campaign!!! I am looking forward to hearing back from Maria as she completes the film and sends me my copy of the entire film. You can be sure that I will make sure to view it on television when I have the information.
