Just watched the Preident's Weekly Address

I want to commend the President and his Administration for their approach to the flu outbreak...Cautious, but not Alarmed.
The media organizations should follow the example of the President...just report the news, not try to create the news.

Really, it's an example where you see the character of President Obama and how he deals with problems. It's an appealing trait that contributed to my voting decision; Calm and Deliberate. There's been some wayward tendencies, but hopefully the ole 'No Drama, Obama' philosophy will continue to show more in his Administartion.
This weekend is significant for many Americans of many faiths.
Let's remember this simple prayer:
Give me a sense of humor, Lord,Give me the grace to see a joke,To get some humor out of life,And pass it on to other folk! Amen.
So let us enjoy: "Some Christian Humor ..."========
There was a very gracious lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country. "Is there anything breakable in here?" asked the postal clerk. "Only the Ten Commandments." Answered the lady.======== Somebody has said there are only two kinds of people in the world. There are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good morning, Lord," and there are those who wake up in the morning and say, "Good Lord, it's morning."======== A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn't find a space with a meter. Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: "I have circled the block 10 times. If I don't park here, I'll miss my appointment. Forgive us our trespasses." When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note "I've circled this block for 10 years. If I don't give you a ticket I'll lose my job. "Lead us not into temptation."======== There is the story of a pastor who got up one Sunday and announced to his congregation: "I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we have enough money to pay for our new building program. The bad news is, it's still out there in your pockets."======== While driving in Pennsylvania, a family caught up to an Amish carriage. The owner of the carriage obviously had a sense of humor, because attached to the back of the carriage was a hand printed sign... "Energy efficient vehicle: Runs on oats and grass. Caution: Do not step in exhaust."======== A Sunday School teacher began her lesson with a question, "Boys and girls, what do we know about God?" A hand shot up in the air. "He is an artist!" said the kindergarten boy. "Really? How do you know?" the teacher asked. "You know - Our Father, who does art in Heaven... "======== A minister waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump. "Reverend," said the young man, "I'm so sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip." The minister chuckled, "I know what you mean. It's the same in my business."======== A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, "I know what the Bible means!" His father smiled and replied, "What do you mean, you 'know' what the Bible means?" The son replied, "I do know!" "Okay," said his father. "What does the Bible mean?" "That's easy, Daddy." The young boy replied excitedly, "It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.'"======== Sunday after church, a Mom asked her very young daughter what the lesson was about. The daughter answered, "Don't be scared, you'll get your quilt." Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed. Later in the day, the Pastor stopped by for tea and the Mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about. He said "Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming."
The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read straight through, and you'll get the point. 1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world. 2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners. 3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America. 4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize. 5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress. 6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners. How did you do? The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners . Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one: 1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school. 2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time. 3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile. 4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special. 5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.with . Easier? Even in choppy waters, recruiters are angling for the perfect job candidate. But employers don't have the time or resources to sift through all the applications churned up by the recession. To boost your chances of getting plucked, you'll need a top-notch resume: one that combines eye-catching details and a fast, modern pitch with old-school basics such as impeccable grammar and perfect spelling.
Today's successful resumes are marketing tools, not encyclopedia entries. They're capable of selling your story on paper or online.
Prove profitability In these tough times, many companies are concerned with staying afloat. Show how you can boost revenue, increase productivity or cut costs for your prospective employer.
"Focus on accomplishments, not responsibilities," said Doug Hardy, a resume expert for job search Web site Monster.com. "Look for numbers and put them up high."Remember to quantify the results. Dollar amounts are the most effective, followed by time saved, then percentages, Hardy said. Go digital Many employment applications now consist of online forms. But that's just the first round. If you hope to be seriously considered, have a resume handy. And be prepared to send it digitally. More employers are using computers to scan resumes for certain keywords and phrases before a human recruiter sees them. The trick is figuring out the code. Here's one strategy: Browse job search engines for positions that match your skills. See what terms employers are using and start using those in your resume.Keep the font simple. Minimize graphics and colors. It will make the resume easier to read and download. Some recruiters now read resumes on smart phones. Send a trial copy to a friend's BlackBerry or iPhone to see how it looks. "Sometimes, a bullet point comes across as a question mark—not quite the brilliant first impression you were trying to make," said Robyn Feldberg, National Resume Writers' Association president. Get to the point Many recruiters narrow the field after a cursory scan of your resume."An employer is going to form a first impression in 30 seconds or less," Hardy said. "The only purpose of the top of the resume is to get them to read down to the end."Be concise. Keep the document to one page and leave the most relevant, impressive information at the top. Avoid a too-detailed list of job experience and cut out that waitress position you held for three months in college.Leave plenty of white space. Employers aren't going to bother reading a resume so jammed that it requires a magnifying glass. "Focus on accomplishments, not responsibilities," said Doug Hardy, a resume expert for job search Web site Monster.com. "Look for numbers and put them up high."Remember to quantify the results. Dollar amounts are the most effective, followed by time saved, then percentages, Hardy said.
Start by shaking up the format of your resume. The traditional method of listing your work history in reverse chronological order is becoming passe, experts said.A "functional" resume might be best for someone switching careers or trying to hide gaps in employment. Instead of a timeline, focus on skills and experiences. It's illegal for prospective employers to ask your age, marital status, sexual orientation, religion or political affiliation. So don't volunteer this information on a resume.Think outside the box Creativity counts when you're looking for work. If you're applying to a smaller, local company, show your enthusiasm by going to the office and handing your resume to the recruiter. But there's a fine line between self-expression and self-destruction. Skip the smiley faces, exclamation points and pink, scented resume paper. And beware the video resume. Less than a quarter of executives said their companies accepted them. Loose endsTypos can be lethal to a resume. More than 75 percent of employers bounce applicants if their resumes contain spelling errors or are grammatically sloppy, the Society for Human Resource Management said. So run a spelling check and ask others to proofread your resume. If you're still employed, don't include your work e-mail or work number. You could lose the job you have. Los Angeles Time
Sometimes it's not the DESTINATION that's brings the most satisfying rewards and fulfillment but the JOURNEY!
Life shouldn't be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather, to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly shouting, 'Wow! What a ride! Thank You, Lord!'
Just received...This is too funny. Can you relate?
A.A.A.D.D.
KNOW THE SYMPTOMS ..... PLEASE READ!
Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow, I feel better even though I have it!!
Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.
But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway,I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk whereI find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking.
I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Pepsi aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The Pepsi is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye -- they need water.
I put the Pepsi on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day: the car isn't washedthe bills aren't paidthere is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counterthe flowers don't have enough water, there is still only 1 check in my check book,I can't find the remote,I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day and I'm really tired.
I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it but first I'll check my e-mail....
Do me a favor.Forward this message to everyone you know because I don't remember who the hell I've sent it to.
Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!!
In this economy, a deal like this would be like investing in junk bonds.
when you see a sign like this
It's been a rough 4 weeks, eh? For the sake of being prepared and keeping a positive attitude for future challenges, here's some indicators so 'you can tell when it's going to be a rotten day'.
---Author Unknown....but troubled.
Interpreting the Indicators
If you recognize 10 indicators or less: Obviously you got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning. Go back and try again...tomorrow.
If you recognize 11-18 indicators: Life is tough...deal with it!
If you recognize 19 or more indicators: Karma is biting you like fleas on a dog!
Request: I'm not an artist. Maybe someone would be able to complement this blog entry with editorial cartoon(s). As the ole adage says, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Go ahead, feel free to elaborate.
Let's try to offer a little understanding about the current state of affairs using an analogy familar with many people: Health. Hopefully, individuals who insist on creating distractions or adhering to pure ideological dogmas will understand that enough is enough. Deliberative action is needed, now.
America's health is in serious condition (duh, no newsflash there eh?) Laughter/satire; Inspirational words and deeds; and Prayer have function as CPR procedure --- maintaining a steady rhythm of courage and moral certitude while providing hope. As we wait for help that is needed, now.
There seems to be a consensus that the problems we are facing primarily deals with our lifeblood (money/monetary supply). These problems are nothing new. We have dealt with high/low blood pressure (deflation/inflation) before. We have had 'mini strokes' --- sectors of economy bursts, (sometimes caused by human neglilence, sometimes as the aftermath of natural disasters)causing temporary paralysis (fear). Of course, the paralysis is accompanied with loss of sensation and control (loss of personal wealth/value) Later we realize the damage when we take note of the dead cells (foreclosures, bankruptcy). The massive heart attack aka '9/11' affected our heart unlike any other event in American history. Though there was some damage to the 'muscle' of our heart caused by fear, our heart still beats with a determination that 'we shall prevail'...yes, we can!
We can no longer ignore the symptoms which can be seen throughout the country. It has even affect our government and regulatory agencies (brain cells). We can utilize governmental action catheter to inject composition of tax cuts and spending, but we must make sure the appropriate ratios are correct lest the results include chain reaction --- widespread 'edema', collapse of vital industries, and massive internal hemorraging (unemployment)
Our nerves (Transit/Trucking Industry) are being affected; slowing down the transport of goods and services from one part of country to another. We must consider the complications that may develop when we use governmental action to affect trade policy ('Buy America' provision in the Recovery Bill).
Our open sores and skin wounds (Ineffective Trade and Immigration Policies) have become infected and the World Community are watching and repulsed. Our allies want to see us be in good health but may be hesistant to help us in some efforts because they fear the catagion nature of our condition.
We are fascinated with Jobs Reports and the Dow Jones averages. These are print-outs and digital monitor machine, respectively of our vital signs. We have been sporadically been receiving help from respirator. It's time for us to take action whereby we are able to receive sense of hope from within ourselves, not relying solely on 'outside sources' to provide hope, faith.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for....For we walk by faith and not by sight...the just shall live by faith"
America's health may seem overwhelmingly dire and utterly hopeless. Yet, if we put aside the petty bickerings, recriminations, and gamemanship then America's heart and soul will lead us to re-discover our inner strength to overcome present and future challenges. We will become even stronger from the experience. Remember, America's heart and soul are our courage and ideals.
"I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies; education and culture for their minds; and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits. I believe that what self-centered men have torn down, other centered men can build up."
--- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
After reading the tragic news about the murder-suicide of the 2 adults, 5 children in California, it strengthens my resolve to not just post serious discussions, but also inspiration, lighthearted fare as well.
Yes, these are 'perlious times' but remember: 'Man has not made any material more resilent than the human spirit.'
President Barack Obama bows his head in prayer during Inauguration. Help us grow the team by inviting your family and friends to join.
President Barack Obama now steps up to lead our nation into a historic new era. The challenges and demands he will face are daunting at the least and overwhelming at most. Yet, in his Inaugural Address, he invoked the good will of the American people and our willingness to roll up our sleeves and work hard. "Every so often," the President said, "the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we, the people, have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears and true to our founding documents. So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans."
This is a time to pray! The new administration will grapple with the challenges of a struggling economy, active wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and energy and environmental concerns--all unprecedented in this generation. With I Timothy 2:1-2 as our biblical mandate, The Presidential Prayer Team is dedicated to praying for our new president's wisdom, protection and success as he faces these issues, and many more, over the next four years.
I'm asking you today to help build the team of intercessors for our new President. Let us join together and uphold him as the Israelites of old did for their leader Moses. Please, invite your friends to pray for President Obama and the new administration. All you need to do is to forward this to them and tell them to click on the link below. Or, your friends who enjoy text messaging can get information about PPT via a text message by texting "PPT" in a text message to the number 411-247 for information.
Thank you for your help in growing the team that prays for President Obama and his new administration.
Your efforts will work powerfully in our nation.

"Death and Life are in the power of the tongue"
Many of us already know this because we have been made aware of the damaging effects of verbal abuse. We may also have been informed about the importance of what we say to others and even more importantly what we say to ourselves. Yet, when asked the simple question, "How are you today?" We may respond, "Fine, under the circumstances". Now, this response may seem inconsequential, but may be unconsciously affecting an individual's ability to effectively deal with adverse situations.
It's more than 'just words'. Consider, why would anyone want to state that a situation has him/her defeated? Yet by adding 'under the circumstances' a person is not talking from a position of strength and capability to handle the situation. Remember, re-frame how you see yourself in relationship to your circumstances.
C'mon, let's Shake it off and Stomp it down!
Shake and StompOnce there was a farmer who wanted to get rid of his goat by burying him alive. After he dug the hole really deep so that the goat wouldn't be able to climb or jump out of it, he started the task of tossing dirt into the hole. What the farmer didn't know, as the dirt landed on the goat, the goat would SHAKE IT OFF and STOMP IT DOWN. Over and over again the farmer continued to toss more and more dirt into the deep hole. Over and over again the goat would SHAKE IT OFF and STOMP IT DOWN. Finally, after much time had passed, the packed dirt was rising and it became closer to ground level. In the last few feet from ground level, the goat was able to jump out of the hole quickly, run away, and escaped. Remember, 'There is no temptation which is common to man, that God hath not prepared a way of escape'. Lesson: Sometimes what is designed to bury us has the potential to become the means to help us, if we would just SHAKE IT OFF and STOMP IT DOWN.

In the spirit of National Service Day i would like to offer my appreciation to ABCNEWS Organization.
When the 'breaking news' about the 'Miracle on the Hudson' was reported on television, initially I watched two cable news networks alternately but became quickly frustrated at the hyperbolic reporting of the event. I turned the channel to the one network that consistently provided straightforward news reporting: ABCNEWS
The event was dramatic enough and i was pleased at the fact ABCNEWS didn't 'overly dramatize' it with words or video. The news spoke for itself. They exercise professionalism and responsiblity especially when you consider the families of the passengers who may have been watching the event. This was not the first time ABCNEWS displayed such professional and responsible reporting. I was so pleased that I contacted local affiliate to offer commendation.
In the past, I have levied much criticism against the media, but it's only fair to recognize their positive activities.
So, ABCNEWS great job and please keep up the outstanding standards that is a credit to the journalism/broadcast industry. Thanks.
Reader: Are you alright? Is your pulse slowing down? Are you feeling better? Take a deep breath. I know it may have been a shock to read a commendation being offered to a media organization.
The following is being offered to hopefully encourage everyone to have
"Walking Faith"
It has been more than ten years. The love for their daughter, with her blue eyes and straight blond hair, was evident in their daily interactions. The expression of love was mingled with the concern of all parents: "Is my child developing normally?" The reason for this concern was the fact that their toddler daughter, Lindsay was not walking on her own. Lindsay would stand alone for a moment, then fall down especially after attention is given to her standing alone. Lindsay would walk while holding onto furniture and other objects as support but Lindsay was not walking on her own.
Lindsay's parents often discussed the possibility of taking her to the doctor to assure themselves nothing was wrong developmentally. Then it happen. One day the mother was busy in the kitchen when Lindsay started to cry angrily for the the attention of the mother. Lindsay was not consoled by the attempts of friends. When her mother didn't respond immediately to her cries, Lindsay stood up, placed one foot in front of the other and walked!
While continually crying with a stedfast and angry expression, Lindsay walked across the dining room towards the kitchen. Frantically and silently friends gestured to the mother to come and see Lindsay. The mother came to the dining room entrance. Upon seeing Lindsay walking, the mother was so happy and so overcome by emotion she almost cried. The mother walked towards Lindsay, knelt down, picked her up, and embraced her. Lindsay was consoled.
From that day on Lindsay enjoyed walking. Lindsay gained a new perspective. She stood more and was poised to walk at anytime. She could see the beyond the obstacles that stood in her way of reaching her object of desire. Fewer objects were beyond her reach now. When there was an obstacle that blocked her way to her object of desire, she did less fretting and crying.
Instead Lindsay may:
Cast the obstacle aside.
Climb over the obstacle
Kick the obstacle aside.
Step over the obstacle or simply,
Walk around it!
