We are the change we seek.
San Joaquin County Community Organizers in Action is an attempt to create a grassroots organization which seeks to serve our local communities, our state and our country in bringing positive change to lives of our citizens. Supporters of President-Elect Barack Obama who helped to secure his election victory are being asked to help implement the change his agenda calls for. Our mission is to know what these policies are and how they will be administered by the congress and the new President. With this knowledge we can seek out ways to help our communities to benefit.
Join the effort;
http://groups.google.com/group/san-joaquin-county-community-oganizers-in-action
Each member of our group will be asked to become versed in specific issues which we face today and in our future that need to be addressed in order to change the course we find ourselves in. These issues are addressed in Baracks "Blue Print for Change". Our jobs will be to help implement these changes and to help communicate them to our fellow citizens. We must also communicate the interests and concerns of our local communities to our elected officials in Stockton, San Joaquin county, Sacramento and DC.
We are starting with 14 initial members and should grow to 150 or so to become effective in reaching our goals. If each of us can dedicate no more than 2 hours per week, we will be successful in bringing the change we all deserve. We will affiliate with other Obama supporting groups and organizations and welcome all who share the goal of a more perfect government and citizenry.
Barack, Nevadans and Californian volunteers turn Nevada blue.
Our mission was to travel to Reno to help change Washoe County Nevada. Bush won there in 2004. He got 81,545 votes and beat John Kerry who got 74,841 votes. On Election Day 2008, the Tide turned. President –Elect Barack Obama got 99,395 votes winning Washoe by 12+ points 55.2% to 42.6%. McCain got 76,743 votes. Due to all our efforts, change has occurred! Barack won Washoe. He garnished more votes in the formerly red state and country, than Bush in 2004. McCain beat Kerry’s vote totals from 2004. This time the Obama Campaign for Change efforts in Washoe resulted in 24,554 more votes than the Kerry campaign produced the last time around.
Yes we did
Back here in our own county, change has occurred. California has been a blue state for quite some time now. Kerry won the last go-round. On the other hand, San Joaquin County voted for Bush in 2004. Now this county can say”we be blue”. Barack won San Joaquin by 16,533 votes. He got 90,851 votes to McCain’s 74,318. Thank everyone who helped register voters in Nevada, San Joaquin County and in CD 11.
We may all have issues with the reasons we're involved in a Middle East war, but I think most agree that our soldiers are doing the best that they can and that they and their families are bearing the heaviest burden. President Obama will do everything he can to expedite the return of our troops, but for those who are still serving away from home, there's something we can all do to help connect them with their families.
You can provide these soldiers with a calling card so that so that every military member in Iraq can make a free 20-minute phone call home. If you have an old cell phone kicking around the house or office, you can recycle it in exchange for a calling card for soldiers serving away from home.
San Joaquin Grassroots Action for Obama invites all members of the community to join us this Saturday, Dec. 13 from 2-4 pm for a "Change is Coming" community meeting! Yes we did help elect Barack Obama President of the United States but our work has only begun! Now, we must be an active part of building support for President Obama's National Agenda and plan how to best secure change for our local communities. SJGA continues to network with the National Obama for America organization. We are committed to participation in this transition process as we become a group whose purpose is to achieve President Obama’s objectives for our Nation, to empower local community organizers and grassroots activists, and to prepare for 2010 and 2012! Change is coming to San Joaquin County! Please join us and be a part of making positive grassroots change in our communities! New volunteers are always welcome to our dynamic, fun and hard working group of local supporters. Remember, "Si Se Puede! Yes we can!" SJGA Community Meeting will be held at 1947 N. California St, Stockton, CA (Dr. E. Vasti's office, near St. Joseph's Hospital) on Sat., DEC. 13, 2-4pm. You can sign up on mybo.com. The event is listed on the San Joaquin Grassroots Action group page.
Well ... In spite of all the blog not to Bailout, we have bailed out. Now, the car companies want billions. Seems we've opened our wallets and everyone wants a hand out! Stop the Bailout! Make those free-enterprisers pay for their own mistakes and lack of planning. Wells Fargo Bank (not in trouble) was forced to take 25 billion they didn't even need! Let the car companies go into bankruptcy, just like the airlines ... except use a little more common sense on the number of hours an employee has to work (Flight Attendants work 14 to 18 hour days!). The UAW needs to look at the non-union auto makers and lower the $28/hour they demand down to non-union pay. A large majority of the $70 per hour cost that auto companies incur goes to retired auto workers. Let's pay back all the monies we've stolen from Social Security and pay the retired auto workers their due portion from there. Social Security (of course) is not enough to retire on. The 1937-Act was passed to supplement Social Security. Fund and beef up 1937-Act Funds to supplement Social Security. In the meantime, Bankruptcy should force the auto makers to move to making reasonably priced green autos, only. Toyota's Prius is a prime example (just make them good-looking). This Bailout is forcing our government into the Private Sector. Yes, because of Man's greed, government needs regulate. However, with the exception of California's Governor Arnold Swartzenegger, I would guess not many of our legislators have made most of their fortune outside of government.
