Cable news and right wing blogs are swarming with the revisionist history on the New Deal. Arm yourself against lies, spin and propaganda by reading info from a number of sources.
Here down a article about this topic. [Media Matters is a progressive media watchdog and fact checking organization which has received accolades from numerous sources (except the right wing media which often gets debunked by Media Matters).]
The link to digg it and for article: Conservatives Cherry-Pick 1930s Unemployment Figures
Summary: Columnists Mona Charen and George Will continued a trend among conservative media of responding to comparisons between the current economic situation and that of the 1930s and between Barack Obama and FDR by attacking the New Deal. In separate columns, both Charen and Will cherry-picked unemployment figures to assert that the New Deal did not reduce unemployment. But historians and progressive economists have noted that unemployment fell every year of the New Deal except during the 1937-38 recession; further, Nobel-laureate Paul Krugman has said it was a reversal of New Deal policies, not a continuance of them, that contributed to rising unemployment in 1937 and 1938.

What's with hidden knowledge of Sept. 11 2001?[ Maybe an explanation of picture: it's made like an "egg laying wool milk sow" a metaphorical-idiomatic term in Germany]

Joe Vogler (I don't know if Joe was a plumber) was murdered during a sale of illegal explosives. Did Joe wear a Stars and Stripes lapel pin? No way, Joe said, "I won't be buried under their damned flag...when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home." Who was Joe? Joe was the founder of the Alaskan Independence Party. It's stated goal is " the ultimate independence of Alaska," from the United States. They are modern day secessionists.Surely a woman like Palin, who has lambasted Obama for marginal associations with a man who shared a community board, has denounced her secessionist husband for his membership in the AIP. Oops, She was the keynote speaker for their 2006 convention. Hard to say she didn't know what they were about, she attended their 2000 convention with her Dude. She recorded the greeting for this year's 2008 convention. Say it ain't so Sarah! What, no renounciation of the Dude who wants to steal those oil reserves from US Citizens? No renounciation of the Dude or his organization that wants to rip the largest state from the Union? I presume that since Palin has read "All of them" newspapers, that she should have some understanding of what happened during the last Civil War. No renuciation, but it's okay for her to engender hatred against a man attempting to do something constructive for his community that involved sitting on a board with someone who did something horrid when Obama was only eight. Oh, Sarah, beware of the log in your own eye before you condemn the splinter in Obama's.

I was going to wait to exercise my first voting right as an American on Election Day. Since the political camps are getting so negative, I have decided to make a statement by voting early. As an Independent voter; like many others I dislike the game.
I have a feeling that from now on it’s not going to be about the issues that matters to us. When a candidate and his campaign don’t have anything to offer for the challenges we are facing, polls are going down they have only one way to stay in the race.
I have voted yesterday as an early voter to reject the character attack and worthless campaign for the next few weeks. Yes, I have voted for Obama-Biden ticket and I’m proud of being a first time voter.
For all my friends out there, please reject the negative campaign and vote early.
Thank you and love you all,
Ruble.
Yesterday (September 15th) was a depressing day for American Financial Market and added more to our crumbling economy. After the bail out of two mortgage giants few days ago we were not ready to hear more bad news.
Unfortunately, the stock market was record down since September 11th 2001. 158 years old Investment bank has filed for bankruptcy and another bank got sold within 48 hours negotiation. Few more financial institutions are heating the bottom.
Yes, since this is an election year; we are seeing the political games played by both major parties and its candidates. As independent voters, we are the target of the deceiving political ads. At the same time, we must compare both plans and ask ourselves who can help us to get out of this mess.
Our mortgage market went down, people can’t keep their homes; job loss, income went down, living cost went up, education is expensive, gas price high and the gap between rich & poor grew bigger. I don’t need to tell you how badly we are suffering from the last 7 years economic policy, and that is why economy is number one issue for this election.
Before current president and his party came to office, we had surplus in the budget, low unemployment rate, and a sound economy. Last 7 years failed policy has given us deficit of more than 300 billion dollars. Our national debt doubled, gas priced more than doubled and unemployment is record high.
I agree with open market policy but strongly believe that it needs oversight and rules that holds the players accountable and responsible. Please compare the candidates on this issue.
We need to balance our budget not only for our own sake but for the interest of our future generation. What kind of parents would leave their children and grandchildren with a mountain of debt? We need to stop spending more than 12 million dollars per month in a wrong war and start investing in our own infrastructure. 2 wars have given us today’s economy; what would happen if we engage ourselves in 4/5 wars in the future? So, the foreign policy is a very important variable of economic equation, please beware of the candidate’s foreign policy.
Spending money for our domestics need is important; cutting the funding for those projects is not the answer for balance budget. Please compare the candidates on this issue and beware of “tax politics.”
I have to get ready for class now. I don’t have enough time to discuss the issue in details. I hope with this posting, we can start focus on the number one issue in this election. If more and more voters like you stay focus on the issues and demand solution from the candidates; maybe we can hear more details about their plans instead of fighting over “lipsticks.”
Thank you very much and love you all,

5:26 pm PDT, Sep 8, Bobbi Miller-moro, California I am so glad there is this opportunity to be able to voice our opinions here on this blog. I am a 35 year old mother of five, a filmmaker, live in California, and have been a Republican helping four presidents get into office. My ancestor is the great Richard Stockton from Princeton, one of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence. I come from a long line of devoted and proud Republicans. I began the Bush administration hopeful, proud, and stood by Bush's side through thick and thin, until I started to see American unravel around me. Financial devastation has hit home, not only to our family, but to every family I know. This of coarse, is just one of the many, many situations that have happened in the Bush administration across the board, including the war on oil. I have been listening to Obama closely, and watching him and Michelle very intently. This Democratic Convention has captured me at the very soul of who I am. From Jessie Jackson Jr, to Obama's sister, to Teddy Kennedy and the rest...I have been close to tears this whole time. I have NPR news, I have CSPAN, I have two other Am & FM stations I am toggling between. The more the Republicans are talking, the more disgusted I am becoming. They know they are in trouble. They klnow the end is near, in their voice you can hear defeat. They are trying everything from that lame first McCain commercial at the first break-to their try at exposing Biden's comment that Obama 'Wasn't ready for the Presidency' at the primary. They are reaching, and grasping. What happened is that we are fed up. The working middle class, the lower middle class, the hard working business owners are fed up. We not only want change, but we want unity. We want to come together and be heard. The way Barack has approached this election campaign is unprecedented. He is at the heart beat of this country. He gets where our future is going, he gets the younger generation. Listening to McCain, and I hear the same ol redirect, the same ol games. Nothing new. I could NOT EVEN DREAM of another four years with this administration. This is my country. I have five children that I am raising to be leaders with my son being the most highly decorated Lieutenant in the California Cadet Corp at 16 years old. He just came back from Washington DC at the Lead America. He has plans to attend next year. My other kids are smart and strong, and as I lead them into their adulthood with the help of mt family and friends I want to show them what being American is all about. If in some unseen way, Obama does not win the presidency-he has already won. He and Michelle has won our hearts, he has given us hope, and has enlivened our spirits for the future. We will never be the same because Barack Obama. WE NEED FRESH. WE NEED CHANGE. WE NEED NEW. WE NEED TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK. And this is why I am no longer voting Republican after 100 years. I am voting for democracy. Bobbi Miller-Moro www.MoroFilms.com
I do not appreciate the way the Republicans are handling the election.
11:41 pm PDT, Sep 8, Colleen Clark, California I was a Republican until this year when I could no long play dumb to what happened to the party, or fool myself into believing George Bush was a mistake made by well meaning people. It wasn't a mistake. The same people now support Palin. There's no way we as a nation can afford that. Our world image is shot, our economy in ruins, yet......the only thing that matters to the party at this point....is RoeVWade and dismantling the public school system. An illegal war continues, McCain believes we can win. There's no such thing as global warming, polluted air, or any environmental issues. I;m certain McCane means to do all that off shore drilling off the coast of South Carolina.....and not California, Oregon or Washington. Palin is a bad joke. It's down right scary to think of that woman as President of her daughters PTA.....and the damage she could do there....to think she could become President of the United States if McCain died......is unimaginable. She's embarrassing, to say the very least. And, anyone who would compare her to Hilary Clinton....has been living under a rock for the past 30 years...and likes it there. Colleen Clark age 65 Rancho Bernardo, CA
No, I absolutely do not like the way the Republicans operate, think or feel.
6:15 am PDT, Sep 9, Elizabeth Bailey, Texas Dear Republican Party, As a life long Republican, and a middle aged white woman, with a career and children I am appauled by the choice of Palin. I'm more appauled by the mean spirited attitude of both she and McCain. I've reserached claims by both candidates and find most of what they are claiming to be untrue. I'm even more appauled by the sudden love affair the media is having with Palin - I thought the media was to be biased?? apaprently not. So, I will now vote for Obama and Bidden. At this point I can't imagine ever voting for the GOP again!

Barack Obama received the endorsement of the American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA).
The President of the Association released this statement:
As a gun rights organization we have not come to this decision lightly. We were formed two years ago because our research shows that millions of gun owners wanted a change. They not only wanted an organization that would protect their gun rights but an organization that was also committed to the protection of their communities as well as the protection of our lands. We reached out to the Obama campaign several weeks ago to offer our support and approval as was reported by Paul Bedard of US News and World Report.
We believe recent attacks on Senator Obama's stand on the 2nd Amendment and his commitment to our hunting and shooting heritage are unfair and American Hunters and Shooters Association is stepping up to set the record straight.
Senator Obama has clearly demonstrated his commitment to the 2nd Amendment by his vote in support of the Vitter amendment to HR 5441, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations bill of 2007. This amendment prevents the Government from confiscating guns in a time of crisis or emergency.Imagine how the citizens felt during Hurricane Katrina when government agents kicked in doors to confiscate law abiding citizens' guns at a time when they needed them the most. We know Senator Obama "gets it." To say that he is an elitist is patently ridiculous. To hunters and shooters everywhere, Senator Obama's vote demonstrated a fundamental understanding of the meaning of the 2nd Amendment which means he recognizes the individual right of all citizens to keep and bear arms. In addition, Senator Obama's commitment to conservation and protection of our natural resources and access to public lands demonstrates to us his commitment to America's hunting and shooting heritage. Senator Obama will be a strong and authentic voice for America's hunters and shooters and it is with great pleasure that we endorse his candidacy.
"We need sensible gun laws. I just got back from Montana where just about everyone has guns. In that culture, fathers and sons bond over hunting. You can't take that away from rural America. But the inner city is different, and we should tighten the laws on gun purchases and close the loopholes in gun show sales to unscrupulous buyers. The gun control people and the right to bear arms people are talking past each other about disconnected topics."
(Rev. Jesse) Jackson's comments, though crude and incendiary, come at a time when Obama is accused of reversing his stand on the Iraq war, campaign finance, gun control, the death penalty, abortion and wiretapping without court oversight as he tries to position himself for the election against the Republican, John McCain.
Wow, all this "change" in less than two weeks!Yes, Barack Obama is the "change" candidate. He keeps changing his positions. Yes, he is the "hope" candidate. We hope he goes back to being the candidate of "change" and "hope."

I'm extremely disappointed in todays Senate Vote regarding Telecom Immunity. While I'm pleased that Sen. Obama did support the amendments stripping Immunity, he did not stand opposed to it passing ... despite our voices, despite his original pledge and stance regarding FISA/Telecom immunity, and despite that it is evident that the Bush administration did indeed do something illegal.
I'm directing my focus, energy, and money towards candidates and agencies that are willing to stand up for civil liberties. The ACLU will challenge this bill when it is signed gleefully by Bush. Sadly, we now have to rely out outside agencies to protect and uphold the Constitution where our Congress fails. (My disappointment is also with Sen. Tim Johnson and Sen. John Thune -- who also voted for this bill ... and with Rep. Herseth-Sandlin that voted for this in the house. I'll make sure that if asked to volunteer or for campain contributions that money is needed elsewhere to protect the civil liberties destroyed from their vote.)
Now, one can look back in time to another illegal wiretapping President named Richard Nixon. He was forced to resign from office on Aug. 8th for his abuses. Back then, even his fellow Republicans had to agree and begin the impeachment process. Now, less than 35 years later the ethical integrity of both Republicans and Democratic officials has declined to the point that we are granting immunity and giving illegal lawbreaking a pass. There is irony that Nixon only was involved with illegal wiretapping and surveillance of the Democratic Party, meanwhile Bush has expanded that to the whole US with blessings from our Congress. It seems quite symbolic that a number of people from right to left most interested in preserving and protecting our Constitution are joining forces and becoming Strangebedfellows. Aug. 8th will be a symbolic moneybomb movement where pledges and money donated will be done on the same day Aug. 8th -- and creating a powerful message to Democrat and Republicans alike. It's time to elect leaders that stand up for the Constitution, not compromise or gut it.

Obama supporters decorated a truck and participated in the Brookings Fourth of July parade.
The Obama truck was decorated with American flags and banners, red, white and blue ballons, and lots of Obama signs. It was a lot of fun decorating the truck and the entry was a great success.
I've been a life long Democrat. I'm horrified at what is happening in both parties in regards to allowing the highest elected office get by and do whatever he wants. We were supposed to be a nation that followed rule of law. I'm watching the Democratic party cave in and sell out our civil liberties at a pretty cheap price and allow whatever the reckless, unethical administration wants. There are a nobel few (Feingold and Dodd) that actually keep me from running out and switching my party affiliation.
I've decided to not volunteer nor make campaign contributions to leaders that will not stand up for my civil liberties. I strongly urge Sen. Obama to continue what he had originally pledged to do, support stripping telecoms of immunity. I'd like to see our Sen. Tim Johnson also take a strong stance for what is right -- and not vote for the bill as it stands.
Wow.That's about all I can say. In a heated exchange at tonight's S.D. Democratic Executive Board meeting in Oacoma, Hillary Clinton delegate Malcolm Chapman said--and State Chair Jack Billion confirmed--that the Clinton campaign offered a major fundraiser to the state party in exchange for two superdelegate votes.Chapman noted that he had almost "cut the deal" with the Clinton campaign. Billion said the price was "too high." He also said non-office holding superdelegates like him had to give a lot of consideration to Sen. Tom Daschle's, Sen. Tim Johnson's, and Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin's position on the race as they are major financial benefactors to the local party.I'll post more as I learn more.
