We are writing to invite everyone to please come out and join the President's Grassroots Team to support Barack as we roll out Government 2.0.
In his recent video (http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/thefuture) Barack Announces Organizing For America.  He mentioned that in a few days you would get instructions by email.  These are the instructions.

1.  We need you to find your State.CAN group in MyBO and join these two groups:

USA.CAN

Washington.CAN

2.  Each of you must update your Personal profile on MyBO with real contact information so we can interact accordingly.

3.  This is our team building nationwide project...to form ranks.  To give you a heads up, February 7th is when the call has been put out for all CAN groups to have their first meetings across the country.  We are asking all MyBO members who want to participate in Government 2.0 to reach out to all their MyBO groups and have them join their State.CAN group as well.  At your face to face meetings across your state and in each county you will elect officers, assign issue teams by individual interests, and make plans to work across CAN groups with all others who might share that issue focus in order to join forces and see solutions implemented.   This is the plan we make in support of President Barack Obama's upcoming legislation and programs.  All issues that we are focusing on to begin with are posted at www.whitehouse.gov.

4.  Overall mandate on what we are to do:

• Organize support for legislation at all levels of government.  This includes supporting President Obama's agenda as well as organizing around state and local laws/initiatives.
• Build grassroots electoral strength at all levels by training and developing grassroots leaders to organize and serve in their communities.
• Be an organ of two-way communication between the White House and the grassroots, so that each knows and responds to the priorities of the other.
• Launch a national, grassroots-driven renewal of civic engagement, again at both the local and national levels.

Jane Park, CEO of Julep Nail Parlor, is interested in hosting a fundraiser for Obama on October 15 at Julep Nail Parlor. We are looking for anyone interested in helping organize, provide support, etc. A friend suggested we post here looking for help.

We could host 50-60 people, include spa services, 3 plasma screen TV's and have a great space for a party!

Voter Registration Results

This week I have been organizing voter registration events at lunchtime in downtown Seattle. Today I was joined by a woman who is a journalist from Finland here to observe our election. She arrived in Minneapolis during the Republican Convention and is travelling our nation on an Amtrak pass. Tomorrow she heads to Portland then onto San Francisco then turn into the Southwest. It was very interesting to share stories and observations with someone who is visiting to see how our election plays out. The voter registration was also a success. In the business corridor most people are coming to us because they need to change there address. I will continue to hold these voter registration drives and encourage all of you to volunteer in some way. This is the election we can not afford to sit out.

Was anyone else suprised by the wonderful speech given by Joe Biden tonight? I mean, talk about flawless. It was heartfelt, moving, informative... I thought it was just perfect. Obama made a great choice. Joe is just plain lovable and inspiring.

I've been really impressed by the whole DNC. Really well put together. Great speakers. It's amazing how the folks who probably have never given a speech before are coming off so polished. I would be shaking in my boots!

I also really enjoyed Madeline Albright tonight. What an eloquent, articulate speaker! Talk about a woman to look up to.

I wish I could just shake Joe's hand and let him know how wonderfully he executed his speech tonight - but I am sure others will do that - and I hope he takes it to heart.

i thought I was the only person who thought the movie was a veiled justification for our bogus War on Scary Things and praise for King George the Dyslexic. But what messed with my mind were these two things I thought about after seeing the movie...

Batman wanted someone to take the mantle from him as defender of Gotham. His pick was Harvey Two Face, the glorious hero of their city. Honest. Tough. Courageous. Bush needs someone to take his mantle as Defender of America. We, the people, get to pick and you know it aint gonna be McCain. It will be someone honest, tough and courageous. See where I'm going with this or do I have to spell it out? Please oh please don't send Our Soon To Be Fearless Leader any two headed coins (unless you have a sick sense of humor).

Second, you don't have to violate your values to preserve them. That's like saying you have to beat your wife to protect her from domestic abuse. Or you have to violate people's freedoms so that they can be free. Orwell had a word for this kind of sophistry - "doublespeak".

The New Yorker's attempt at satire backfired

Folks in the campaign aren't digging The New Yorker's cover featuring Barack & Michelle as caricatures of their right wing portrayals. I'd like to read the piece before launching into a string of denouncements.

As for the picture, if the New Yorker's response to criticism is truthful, I don't have an issue with it. Have we reached a point where even talking openly about the "obvious distortions" is a threat to the campaign? Is Obama's image so fragile that everbody who says anything counter to his script or who expresses their own opinion has to go in front of a firing squad or shown the door?

Obviously I think instead of getting all alarmist over a magazine cover maybe that energy would be better spent saying something like "yes these are obvious distortions. Thank you New Yorker for showing just how retarded it is to think this is what is going to happen in an Obama White House."

Of course, if the picture really does represent what an Obama White House would be like then I guess the campaign should most certainly demand they yank the cover before someone realizes he's a member of the Fifth Column (lol yeah right... Obama's as much of a terrorist or Black Revolutionary as Mister Rogers was).

On a related note... i bet Michelle would look pretty good in an afro... :)

Webb scoffs at bloggers over the FISA thing

In other words, because we haven't been "vetted" by the corrupt system and we can protect our identities through a small degree of anonymity the representatives of the corrupt system dont care what we have to say.

So how, exactly, are we to be vetted by these jokers? Is it simply a matter of donating large sums of money? Are we supposed to purchase politicians the same way that so-called "special interests" and corporations do? Or is it restricted to upper class capitalist white males and their sympathizers? Maybe nobody will ever actually represent our interests no matter how many hurdles we jump through.

... and he has the nerve to laugh about the FISA thing. How incredibly callous! Reminds me of a certain aristocrat utter the fatal phrase "let them eat cake". I wonder if everybody who voted for HR 6304, including Obama, is sitting around sipping brandy and laughing about how impotent we are as they conduct their secret black clearance meetings.

Ironically, today is Bastille Day. Anyone interested in forming a party and raiding Gitmo? (of course I'm joking... since they are watching everything we could never say something like that online and be serious about it)
