Need further evidence that Pennsylvania women are turning the tide towards Senator Obama?
The Pittsburgh women's Vice Presidential Debate watch party was featured on CNN and on the local news! 160 women who attended the party in the meeting room of a local hockey rink. Who said Hockey moms weren't on board with Obama/Biden
Special thanks to Christine Stone, Ilene Schwartz, Laurel Rosenberg, and Stephanie Sullivan and all the other superstar Pittsburgh women who put the event together and were so articulate and powerful on TV
Dozens of women across the state also held debate watch and postcard parties where they wrote thousands of postcards to undecided voters. Tp host your own debate watch party, email Meredith Rahn Oakes in the PA Women's department at PAWomen@PaForChange.com.
I am still wary of John McCain's pull out of Michigan, but this article explains the possibilies for his path to 270...
Last night's debate between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden may not have "altered the basic contours of the race." But that doesn't mean nothing important happened yesterday. It's just that it was happening 365 miles to the northeast, in the great state of Michigan.Lost amid all the Beltway blather and bloviation about the Showdown in St. Louis Thursday evening was one of the most significant revelations since the start of the race. John McCain, it seems, has decided to pull out of the Great Lakes State. As Politico's Jonathan Martin reported first, "McCain will go off TV in Michigan, stop dropping mail there and send most of his staff to more competitive states." The information leaked after McCain, who has watched Barack Obama surge to a sizable lead in national and swing state polls over the past few days, canceled a local event scheduled for next week. "It was always a long shot for us to win," said an aide. That's probably accurate. But the truth is, without Michigan--which the campaign has now all but admitted that it will lose--it's very difficult to see how McCain can emerge victorious on Nov. 4. For months, McCain has made Michigan the centerpiece of his electoral offense, and with good reason. Iowa, a state that George W. Bush won in 2004, is almost certain to swing to Obama; he currently leads there by more than 10 points on average. Same goes for New Mexico, where Obama's ahead by 8. When combined with John Kerry's 251 electoral votes, those two states alone would put Obama within seven of the magic 270 mark; a single, additional win in either Colorado, Virginia, Ohio or Florida--all of which currently favor the Democrat--would put him over the top. Which is why McCain, desperate to make up ground, has long pinned his hopes on Michigan. The Arizona senator was polling within 2 points of his Illinois opponent as recently as Sept. 10.Unfortunately, the recent avalanche of distressing economic news--especially impactful in a state with the nation's highest level of unemployment--seems to have moved the expensive Great Lakes State out of McCain's reach. The two polls released since Sept. 24--PPP and the Detroit Free Press--show Obama ahead by 10 and 13 points, respectively, and his average lead has more than tripled (from 2 percent to 7 percent) over the past three weeks. McCain's internal polling likely confirms these margins (otherwise, he'd be staying put). As a result, Republican strategists I spoke to last night in St. Louis said that the Republican nominee would now reinvest his Michigan resources in a quartet of Kerry states: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota and New Hampshire. "He could take any one of them," an RNC bigwig told me.But while the GOP is outwardly optimistic, a closer look at the numbers shows that McCain is no stronger in these states than in Michigan. McCain's strongest pick-up possibility is probably the unpredictable Granite State, where Obama now leads by an average of 4 points but where McCain has a long history of electoral success. Still, the senator would need more than New Hampshire's four electoral votes to make up for likely losses in Iowa and New Mexico--and neither Wisconsin, Minnesota or Pennsylvania is currently leaning his way. In Wisconsin, he trails by 5 points; in Minnesota, he lags by 5.7; and in Pennsylvania, he's behind by nearly 8. According to FiveThirtyEight.com, a site that blends current polling with demographic statistics and past electoral results to generate remarkably accurate Election Day projections--see its primary season record here--the only Kerry state that McCain has a better chance of capturing than Michigan (13 percent) is New Hampshire (37 percent). Pennsylvania, at 14 percent, is a wash; Minnesota and Wisconsin (8 percent each) are probably out of reach.Ultimately, then, McCain's Michigan withdrawal underscores how limited his electoral map has become. In confirming the news, McCain field director Mike DuHaime was quick to note that the campaign would move staff to Maine, which awards its electoral votes by congressional district. The announcement was revealing. Apparently, the McCain campaign is now staking its path to victory, at least in part, on Obama winning Iowa, New Mexico and Colorado and losing New Hampshire, which would result in a 269-269 draw--at which point McCain would turn to Maine's Second Congressional District (where Kerry won 52-46) for the tie-breaking vote. The problem with this scenario, though, is that's there's no room for error. For Maine to matter, Obama would have to lose his 4-point lead in New Hampshire; his 2-point lead in Ohio; his 3-point lead in Florida; his 0.5-point lead in Nevada; his 0.5 lead in North Carolina; and his 2.4-point lead in Virginia. Not one of them--all of them. Meanwhile, Maine's second district would have to break sharply with the rest of the state, which currently favors Obama by 7.6 percent. Could it happen? Sure. These stats are based on current polling, and as September showed us, voter preferences still fluctuate in response to events. It's just that at this point, Obama has a 7 or 8 plausible paths to 270--and McCain has only one. So for now it doesn't look likely.

What are we going to do when they start attacking Obama's Character? Their is a new article on the Washington post that talks about The McCain Campaign planning a fierce attack against Obama's character and associations.

While I am confident that we are going to win I just want to be certain that we have a plan for the sharp attacks coming our way.
Let’s not forget what happened when The Clintons decided to through the kitchen sink at us. There was the NAFTA debacle, the Wright controversy (which was three weeks of agony), and lets not forget Bitter-gate which killed our chances in Pennsylvania. We have to be ready I know the republicans are going to be worse. Are we ready for their attacks?!!!
Yes let’s keep our confidence but please let us be prepared.

Sarah more experience then Obama?
Obama was a state legistlator for 8 years representing Chicago, a city of 2.8 mililion. while governor Palin represented 5000 for 8 years. for the last three years Senator obama represented 12.8 million people of Illinois while Palin for the last 2 years represented the 680,000 of Alaska. Obama may have a small amount of international experience, but Palin has NO international and no National experience what so ever.
This is a real picture of the "CONSERVATIVE" alaska governor.
Now I am a hardcore libral but no politician should dress like this. Especially if you want to be the leader of the free world. In times of economic crisis, in times of mortgage crisis, in times of energy crisis. This is an OUTRAGE!
Last night in Denver, Senator Hillary Clinton delivered a powerful call to continue the fight for the causes that drove her campaign by uniting behind Barack's nomination for president of the United States. Senator Clinton echoed Harriet Tubman, the great engineer of the underground railroad, urging Democrats to keep fighting for universal health care, for equal pay for equal work, and for the voices of Americans who have been left out of government these past eight years. “I want you to ask yourselves,” Senator Clinton said to the more than 18 million Americans who voted for her during the primaries, “Were you in this campaign just for me, or were you in it for that young Marine and others like him?” Senator Clinton’s former supporters gathered last night in homes around Pennsylvania to hold Unity Parties and watch the Senator’s address. Pennsylvania Women for Obama director Alexandra Traber attended a Unity Party in Montgomery County and shares this report:
Supporters of Barack Obama and former supporters of Hillary Clinton gathered on Tuesday night across Pennsylvania to watch Senator Hillary Clinton’s speech at the Democratic National Convention and to celebrate her historic campaign! At one of the parties in Montgomery County, the former Hillary supporters donned eye glasses so that they could see this election through “fresh eyes” and continue the fight for equal pay, affordable health care, a strong economy and a brighter future for us all. These women have promised to work just as hard for Senator Obama as they did for Senator Clinton because the stakes in this campaign are just too high not to! Former Hillary supporters don "fresh eyes" at a Unity Party in Montgomery CountyCongresswoman Allyson Schwartz called in from the Democratic Convention floor in Denver to talk about how important it is for women across the state and the country to rally behind our nominee, Barack Obama, and work together to ensure a victory for the Democratic Party in November. In honor of this important date in history, we met with Ms. Nancy Grace, a resident of Haverford, Pennsylvania, who was born 10 years before women had the right to vote! She is thrilled to be able to cast her ballot for Senator Obama this year and at 98 is still one of this campaing’s staunchest supporters! Click here to watch a short video of Ms. Nancy Grace!

Dear Women for Obama,
We are able to stand here today – celebrating our primary victory – thanks to the tireless work and dedication of all of you. Women have everything to do this victory, and we are so grateful for everything you have done over the course of this long primary campaign.
Here’s a quick recap of your astounding commitment and efforts over these past 17 months: thousands of you have served as precinct captains in your communities, run local volunteer field operations, held more than 2,000 house parties and hundreds of “ladies’ nights” organizing events, hosted dozens of Obama books clubs, run more than 200 grassroots online MYBO groups, knocked on tens of thousands of doors and have made over 200,000 calls to undecided women in eight targeted states!
While we take a well-deserved pause to celebrate this historic moment, we must prepare to turn our sights on November – and understand that we will have our work cut out for us in the general election campaign against John McCain. We must, first and foremost, commit ourselves to building unity in the Democratic Party, understanding that this will be critical and central to our victory in November. In addition to Democrats, we must work to bring in women who are Independents and Republicans.
We’ll need to work to educate women across the board about what is at stake this fall. We already are familiar with the long list of reasons why John McCain is NOT a champion for women. Here are a few to keep in mind, particularly as you have opportunities to speak to women you know – friends, family, coworkers, leaders in your community, everyone! – about what exactly we stand to lose if we do not succeed in defeating John McCain:
· McCain has a 0% pro-choice rating from NARAL and Planned Parenthood.
· He has vowed to appoint pro-life justices to the Supreme Court.
· McCain voted against reauthorizing the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) for five years.
· He voted against the restoration of the Equal Pay Act.
· McCain voted to suspend the Family and Medical Leave Act in 1993, unless the federal government certified that compliance wouldn't increase business expenses or gave employers financial assistance to cover any costs.
Again, thank you so much for all that you have done to make this day possible. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have you on our side as we move to the general election and work to elect Barack Obama as the next President of the United States!
Fired Up and Ready to Go!
In these last days leading up to the North Carolina and Indiana primaries, we need your help to get out the vote and recruit undecided women. We hope you will spend some part of the next few days volunteering in either state, but if you can’t travel, please participate in our Women for Obama phonebank to recruit undecided women in Indiana.
Making calls is very easy. All you need is a computer and a phone. Review the script before you make calls to get comfortable with it and then start plugging away. Our women phonebankers have already made more than 8,000 calls over the last few days, but we have a ways to. You should also consider inviting your friends over to phone bank together! Lots of supporters have found that to be a great way to motivate one another. You can also print out lists for those who don’t have computers.
Every door knocked and every call made is going to count in this election. Don’t let a day go by before this Tuesday the 6th without making calls to women in Indiana or getting to North Carolina or Indiana to help get out the vote for Barack.

We are so close to securing the nomination. Barack is less than 280 delegates short of doing so! He’s picked up close to 100 superdelegates since Super Tuesday on February 5th compared with 15 for Senator Clinton. With every contest, Senator Obama gets closer to becoming the Democratic nominee for president and with your help, he’ll get there. Thank you!
Dear friends,
First the good news…since Saturday night, you made more than 2,200 calls into Indiana women! Thank you! We’re on track to make 20,000 calls before the May 6th primary, but I’m hopeful we’ll be able to surpass that. With your track record of making more than 160,000 calls into seven targeted states during the primary, I’m sure that we will! I cannot underscore the importance of making these calls. Every door that’s knocked on and every call made to recruit and identify Obama supporters gets us closer to the finish line.
I’ve received several calls and emails from you regarding the phone calls you’ve been making into Indiana. It seems that many of you keep getting wrong or disconnected numbers. I know it’s terribly frustrating, but we come across that in every phone bank - it's just part of the process. So keep plugging away because every contact you make could mean another vote for Senator Obama! Thanks again and keep making those calls! And don’t forget that you can now print out lists for those who don’t have computers by clicking on “call contacts offline” on our phone bank page.
