"What is with all of the chicken littles on the blog this evening? I saw several posts where people are freaking out about what some overpaid, out of touch, pencil pushing pundit has said.
Please let's have some faith in this campaign. They have continually proved the pundits and naysayers wrong so far."
IGNORE the MSM! Have FAITH in our man!
So there I was, once again at an Obama event. This time an event called Solutions for Colorado. Senator Salazar was atteding, I never had the chance before to hear him speak, so I decided to go mainly for that purpose. I had no idea what I was about to hear and experience.
As usually occurs at an Obama event people were asked to share their stories. This time it was their "experiences" and any solutions they could think of. One man got up. His concern was healthcare. He told the story of his three year old daughter, how they couldn't afford health insurance and the proper healthcare, for her, because she had a serious rare medical condition. The man could not finish his story, he broke down and started to cry for his daughter. The Senator put his arms around him, trying to tell what he and other politicians were committed to doing, for people in his situation. Finally, the Senator could not be so strong either, he broke down with the man, started crying, and hugged him sincerely. This brought the whole audience to tears.
We then broke down into small groups. In our small groups we continued to tell stories. There were two interesting individuals in our group. The first was a Catholic Priest from the poor country of Africa. We were talking about healthcare. He let us know that in this poor country, healthcare was free to all as well as medications, no one was denied. Yet, in the US we cannot afford it.
There was a nurse who heard our stories, who was in our group. Shen then went on to tell us, she was a working nurse, and even though she was a nurse, she did not have health insurance! That was a shocker!
Through these experiences I learned that Our Moment is Now. We must elect Barack Obama our next President, and be the change that we seek! The stakes are too high, and tommorow may be too late. We need to make a difference now. This is our moment, and this is the time!

I have become more and more involved with the campaign, and do not seize to be amazed at the refreshing way this movement is being run. I've had ups and downs, but every down makes me realize I must move on, and stand with those who have had worse experiences than I.
I remember how I was chosen for the Obama Organizing Fellowship. It was an honor to be selected, and I looked forward to being an official part of the Obama Campaign. When the training time came I could not attend for what I said was a personal reason. As I talk to people and listen to their stories, I have realized I also have a new story to tell. When I recently heard the Republicans say that we were a nation of whiners and not in a recession, that is when I knew it was the appropriate time to share my story.
You see, I had 3,000 Dollars saved up not just to attend the training, but for other expenses, since I wasn't going to use the provided housing, and was very excited about going to the training. I had my bus tickets ready, my hotel room reserved, and money for food, if I needed. The night before the training, my father came home with a gloomy look on his face. He really didn't say anything for a couple of hours. It was getting close to 10:30 and I had just sent some email confirmation the campaign wanted. I got my bags ready, and was going to go to bed and retire for the evening.
Soon, my dad broke out of his shell and informed my family he had been laid off for the next two weeks. That means there would not have been money for food, for our rent, for gas, for clothing, or even to pay bills. I then had to make one of the biggest decisons of my life.
Even though it pained me, I knew I had to stand with my family. The money that I had saved up had to put a meal on our table, clothing on our backs, and a roof over our heads. I regrettfully made my cancellations with the campaign, hotel, and bus station. I really had a tough time dealing with this, and I thought I would never be able to help the campaign again.
It was also then, that I realized exactly what I was standing for. I finally understood why I supported Senator Barack Obama, and why I was engaging in a new kind of politics. I made up my mind to help, however I could, even if it was on my own.
Amazingly, I received a call a couple of days later, from someone who attended the training. She said the Field Organizer had suggested she give me a call. With her help, I have been able to help out the campaign more than what I ever thought would be possible.
Everyday has been a true learning experience, an inspiration, and adventure. Everyone I've met has a unique story to tell, and I have realized, that this time in our history, truly, must be different.
Recently, I've been having voter registration drives, to register new voters. I didn't know what to expect from this experience and at first could not imagine it being as fascinating and rewarding as it has been. I have only registered a handful of people so far, but I met a very interesting woman who made me feel great about the work I was doing.
I registered voters during our annual 4th of July parade. As I asked people if they were registered, an elderly lady said she wasn't and that she would like to register. As we exchanged greetings we were given an applause by the crowd that made me feel inspired and proud of this woman for excersing her right to vote. As I asked her information she viewed the buttons I was wearing of different Democratic Candidates and told me which ones she would be voting for. To my astonishment when I asked her party affiliation she proudly responded, "Republican."
This opened my eyes to a deeper calling and the higher stakes and voices truly calling for change within this country. This is not an election about politics. It is about our future, the future our nation, and the future of our world. Her eyes lit up with hope, as she thanked me for registering her, and as I explained the mail in ballot option. She was once again very thankful, and grateful to learn about mail in ballots, since she is older, this was a great option for her! As I left, she kept expressing her gratitude, I said, "you're welcome" and with a smile registered another voter.
A while ago, I was informed I had been accepted to be an Obama Organizing Fellow. It was a true honor to be selected, and I deeply looked forward to working with the campaign. Unfortunately, I had a serious family situation the night right before the training, and was unable to attend the three day training. As would be expected I was seriously bummed out, and thought my opportunity to participate was forever lost, and I would never again hear from the campaign!
I decided though, that even though I wasn't able to attend the Fellowship training, and wouldn't be able to participate in the program, I was not going to give up, and I would continue to stand with Senator Obama, and encourage others to listen to his message. I continued my work with the group I organized at my college; Students and Faculty for Obama. I continued to make calls, and to volunteer. I got involved with the local democratic party, found new friends, and contacts, and moved forward.
Suprisingly, about a week after the official training I received a call from a lady named Susan. She was also a Fellow who went to the training and was out on the campaign trail! She said a higher up had suggested she contact me, and with her help I have been able to participate in the campaign more than what I thought would have been possible!
I must say during all the phone interviews and personal contacts I have had with those who are an official part of the campaign, I have never spoken to such a well articulated, energetic, professional, and friendly crowd! This campaign is truly groundbreaking. I encourage all those who are not involved to volunteer! There are many willing to help you. Including myself! It is a great opportunity and experience!
