San Bernardino Mountain Communities United for Change!

This group is for the people of the San Bernardino Mountain Communities to unite for the purpose of bringing about a change in our communities, our mountain and our country. We have been through 3 major and countless "minor" fires in the last decade which have caused major problems in all of our lives. Many of us have lost our homes, our jobs and our beautiful forest views. We have not lost hope in a better tomorrow. We are a resilient and resourceful people. We believe and participate in strong yet small communities. We take care of ourselves and our neighbors. We are survivors and fighters. We have the most beautiful snow in all of Southern California, and by far the best summer weather in the state, and a beautiful blue sky by day and a million stars by night. We love our mountains, and the people who share our difficult but peaceful lifestyle. This group includes the communities of: Crestline, Cedar Pines Park, Twin Peaks, Rim Forest, Agua Fria, Blue Jay, Grass Valley, Deer Lodge Park, Lake Arrowhead, Cedar Glen, Sky Forest, Running Springs, Arrowbear, Green Valley Lake, Big Bear lake, Big Bear City, Fawnskin, Angelus Oaks, Barton Flats, Wrightwood, and any other mountain community in the San Bernardino National Forest. Any resident, homeowner, or visitor of our mountains is welcome in our group as long as they have a love and concern for our mountains and our future!

Lake Arrowhead Drive for Change to Las Vegas Success!

We were a small group from Lake Arrowhead, who drove to Las Vegas the weekend of October 17th. We felt that our efforts had great impact and we were happy to meet lots of fellow Californians there. It was a huge turn out. This was so rewarding! 9 more days! VOTE!!!! Vote Early! Great experience for our middle-school kids, they learned what democracy in America is all about. If anyone can go this coming last weekend, DO IT!!!

Below is a missive that has already been forwarded to many intelligent women. I feel compelled to pass it on and hope you will read it to the end and follow thru. Our country is bordering on a electoral disaster that could damage it for decades to come and destroy the freedoms as we know them for us, our children and grandchildren. We are writing to you because of the fury and dread we have felt since the announcement of Sarah Palin as the Vice-Presidential candidate for the Republican Party. We believe that this terrible decision has surpassed mere partisanship, and that it is a dangerous farce on the part of a pandering and rudderless Presidential candidate that has a real possibility of becoming fact.

Perhaps like us, as American women, you share the fear of what Ms. Palin and her professed beliefs and proven record could lead to for ourselves and for our present or future daughters. To date, she is against sex education, birth control, the pro-choice platform, environmental protection, alternative energy development, freedom of speech (as mayor she wanted to ban books and attempted to fire the librarian who stood against her), gun control, the separation of church and state, and polar bears. To say nothing of her complete lack of real preparation to become the second-most-powerful person on the planet.

We want to clarify that we are not against Sarah Palin as a woman, a mother, or, for that matter, a parent of a pregnant teenager, but solely as a rash, incompetent, and all together devastating choice for Vice President. Ms. Palin's political views are in every way a slap in the face to the accomplishments that our mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers so fiercely fought for, and that we've so demonstrably benefited from.

First and foremost, Ms. Palin does not represent us. She does not demonstrate or uphold our interests as American women. It is presumed that the inclusion of a woman on the Republican ticket could win over women voters. We want to disagree, publicly.

Therefore, we invite you to reply here with a short, succinct message about why you, as a woman living in this country, do not support this candidate as second-in-command for our nation.

Republican Email LIES A-FIRE!!!

The last couple of days I have received so many emails with LIES about Barack Obama's postions on many things. I looked in SNOPES and was surprised to see that Barack is being ATTACKED by EMAIL LIES like no one else. Check it out!

Amazing! This is so full of lies and half truths, I don’t even know where to start. I think it is great that everyone is so interested in this year’s election. Whether Democrat, Republican or Independent we should be aware of what to expect when either Barack or John wins. But, to use slander and lies or attacks, which favor one candidate is really low and cowardly. This really doesn’t serve the people. The sources below don’t even address the statements made. Before you send these type of emails around, please do check in SNOPES. The lies about his tax plan are already there. (did anyone see him talk about this on O’Reilly yesterday?) The RNC Lies - Know the Facts

The Republican convention really upset me because of all the lies. It seems to me the RNC can only win on a lie. I gathered some of the facts. There was also a woman (friend of Carly Fiorina) who indicated that the President of the US has no power over the free-choice issue, so even though she was with Hilary and believed in pro-choice she was with McCain now. What she failed to note is that the President can chose the next 3 supreme court judges so far right that they will overturn Roe vs. Wade, and who knows what else in the name of GOD! and... I mean in the name of God as Governor Palin has tried to do so in her previous admininstrations.

· McCain said they had vetted Palin for weeks, but the truth has surfaced and indicates that McCain made a quick harsh decision in one day, which is why all this crap is coming up about her. Canvassing in swing states.

This will be my 3rd weekend in a row that I am going to canvass in a swing state. 1st, I went to Nevada with our "Drive for Change" It was great! About 100 Southern Californians drove to Las Vegas to canvas for Obama, It was awesome! We had just been made aware of the event the weekend before, so I think that was a great turnout for such a big thing with such short notice. A lot of canvassing in the heat, but I KNOW I made a difference! If we win Nevada by just a few thousand votes, I know the Californian help was well worth it. The people on the ground in the Nevada campaign offices were incredible. Everything was organized and professional. They made great arrangements for me to stay in supporter housing, and had everything ready for us when we got there. I was able to meet Dina Titus, our great candidate for congress in Nevada. I wish i had representation like her. I was proud to campaign for her as well as Obama.

When we got back from our first day of canvassing, They had a great potluck dinner waiting for us! The Nevada Campaign for Change is top notch!

Last weekend, I went to Phoenix, Arizona to fulfill a promise to a friend to visit and cheer on the Dodgers. It was hot! I signed up for a canvassing event, and was greeted with great enthusiasm and gratitude that I was canvassing "on vacation". With 66 days to go, I am not about to take a vacation, but was glad my promise was in a swing state, so I could do both!

I was pleasantly surprised that the people in Arizona are done with McCain. He hasn't done a lot for them lately. Arizonans are really independent and like the "Maverick" idea, and they are smart and recognize that John McCain is not the maverick he used to be. They are sick of Bush and dealing with the same issues the rest of the country is dealing with. I couldn't find one person who likes Palin there. They think she is a fake and practically a foreigner. It is my opinion that Arizona is within our reach, but we need to work for it and it will be ours.

Friday, I am leaving at 6 am for Washington DC to speak at the National Grassroots Rally at Freedom Plaza. I will speak about how important it is to work for what we want and how much difference a short conversation and a handshake can make. I hope I can inspire others to get out and canvass in their own state or a swing state.

I can't wait, though I must confess, I am sad that I am traveling so far without getting to sightsee much. Like I say to the people who think I am crazy right now., "Nothing is more important than getting Obama elected right now" What happens in these next 62 days will determine the course of history for the entire world. We are at a unique crossroads and we MUST make the right decision this time. We cannot afford another failed administration. Not here, Not now. Our Home is hanging in the balance.

We can and must win this year, and we must work for this win.
