Once again I was dragging as I thought about attending my weekly event. Even though every single time something amazing has happened. My event is at a bookstore cafe and twice now we have persuaded voters to either vote for Barack, consider Barack, or at least vote for those local candidates who reflect Barack's positions. And darn if it didn't happen again tonight. A man wondered toward us as though he were looking for something. I said are you looking for the Barack supporters? He said no, but pulled up a chair and asked us why he should vote for Barack. He was a republican, but was seriously considering Barack. We talked to him for quite sometime. I could see that had we not been there he would have voted for McCain. But now he has better information. He said he would like to come back...and since I made a personal committment to show up every Thursday, he can. Which brings me back to my point. I was feeling pretty uninspired before I left to host the meeting. And now I am excited again. Am glad that no matter what that man decides he won't vote against Barack based on misinformation. If you want to beat the political blues, Get up off that Thang and campaign to you feel better! :)
Hello Oklahomans!
Barack is our party's nominee for President and it's time to bring the country together behind him! As you know, the Obama campaign is all about supporters taking individual initiative to push our movement forward. On June 28 we are asking Obama supporters across the country to organize "Unite for Change" house parties to bring their uncommitted friends and colleagues together for Obama.
I am an intern at the Obama campaign headquarters in Chicago and I have been asked to help Obama supporters in Oklahoma organize Unite for Change house parties. I am including some information about how to organize your party at the end of this post. If you have any other questions, please e-mail me at mybarackobama@barackobama.com, using the subject line "Oklahoma Unite for Change"
Oklahoma, yes we can!

Here's the information about how to organize a house party:
On June 28th supporters across the nation are holding Unite for Change house meetings to bring their friends and neighbors together in conversation about our shared hopes and how we can change the direction of our country. Create your own Unite for Change event now: My.BarackObama.com/unite We'll provide you with tips and resources for your event in the Unite for Change Host Guide: My.BarackObama.com/uniteguide We are counting on you to help us continue to grow this movement and there's no better way than to familiarize your friends and neighbors with Barack's message of change. This campaign has always been about a new kind of politics, about recognizing that the bonds we share are stronger than we are led to believe. Whether we are Democrats, Independents or Republicans, we are Americans first and we need to come together at this critical juncture to solve our country's toughest challenges.Thank you again for your leadership and commitment. We couldn't do this without you!
I have donated to this campaign and have been a staunch supporter of Obama since I saw him speak at the 2004 Democratic Convention. I have read both of his books and believe he has the right ideas to make this country great again. He is a brilliant and humble man that I truly believe could serve us well.
However, it has become increasingly clear to me that our system of government is broken and we are standing at a crossroads. If we don't act now, we may never regain control of our Democracy again. I often wonder, that as good a man as I believe Obama to be, can he really have any impact on our political system that has steadily grown more and more out of control each day?
I firmly believe that it is time for Americans to stand up and insist on impeachment of this president and his administration. If we don't hold our government accountable now, we may never again have the opportunity to save our Republic. This administration has committed so many impeachable offenses, I can only conclude that the reason our Congress won't act is that they fear they themselves may someday be held accountable.
The U.S. House of Representatives just handed the President a DIRECT order to pull troops from Iraq by September 2008, by a vote of 218-212. The vote was strictly along party lines, with Republican leaders claiming the vote is tantamount to admitting DEFEAT.
60 US Senators will be needed to send the withdrawal bill to the President, who has VOWED a veto.
Martha Mattes writes:
By any chance would either one of you know if there are brochures or flyers on Barack Obama available, and if so, how we can get a HUGE quantity for March 31?
Obama08OK would like to have a table at the Tulsa County Democratic Convention on March 31, and we would also like to pass out literature to those attending the Martin Luther King parade that afternoon. As you know, the latter event typically draws huge crowds.
Let me know if you know anything -- thanks!
I believe we have allowed our government to declare pre-emptive war, accumulate great debt, disregard the constitution and suspend habeas corpus, all in the name of our prejudice, hate and fear. How can Americans who have any idea of our history allow this to happen? I believe they just do not pay attention. I believe they do not really care unless the individual lives they lead are directly affected. Benjamin Franklin once said that justice could not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.
As a member of the Democratic party, as well as Obama '08, I am constantly asked to contribute money, and every solicitation indicates that this grass roots effort to reach ordinary Americans is what the campaign is all about. And so, I must say that I am extremely disappointed that Mr. Obama will not allow us "ordinary Americans" a venue in which to participate with him on his trip to Tulsa March 19th.
It is typical of current party politics to exclude "ordinary Americans" from the political process of fundraising, while soliciting our funds all along. These are the kind of party politics I was hoping would change. But unless and until ordinary Americans speak up and take action, nothing will change. We do have the power if we only come together and let our voice be heard. I will not donate any more money until I see that I will truly have a voice and participation in the process.
