In 8 months, President Obama has accomplished more for our country than has been done in the past 50 years! There is much debate regarding the proposed health care plan. There may be issues resulting from lobbyists and Republicans fighting the proposal, but based on the history of the economy in the past 8 months, I have seen the property values increasing; I have seen gas prices lowering; I have seen groceries becoming more affordable; I have seen people finding jobs; and I have heard less about home foreclosures. So, based on this past 8 month history showing improvement we have not seen in the past 8 years, I believe the Obama health care plan will work. The issue is not the plan, but whether or not people will give the plan an opportunity to work. There are so many lies regarding the health care plan, that people are confused and fear tactics are working. But given the fact that I am now in a better financial situation than I was in January 2009, I am willing to give the plan an opportunity to work before I shoot it out of the water.
Americans are used to fast food service. We expect to snap our fingers and have results, rather than giving time an opportunity to prove results. We have waited for 8 years to see change. Now, Americans are stating our President is a failure because there was no immediate change 24 hours within his taking office. Friends, we cannot expect over night results. It has taken 8 years to create this financial disaster we are currently in, and it has taken much longer to create the problems we are currently facing in the field of health care. Give the man a chance to let his plan work! Stop snapping your fingers and expecting over night results. The problems didn't occur over night, and they won't go away over night.
I personally believe our President has not led us down a path to destruction, and I continue to support him. If you want real change, then give him the opportunity to make that change. There are a lot of entities, including media, who are bashing his efforts, and claiming failure, when he has only begun to make the changes he has promised. Change takes time. We allowed our former President 8 years to make changes, and no efforts were made to accomplish change. President Obama has been making every effort to effect the change we need, while some Americans are becoming impatient. They do not understand the opposition he is facing. They are also not helping to implement change by switching horses in midstream. Winning means you put your shoulder to that grindstone and push, no matter how hard it is! Change will not come over night. But don't give up. We have a President who WILL make those changes happen, if we all continue to support him. Stop listening to the media, and go to the Washington website and read what is being done to benefit YOU!. The media are about one agenda; becoming popular so they can get a bigger pay raise, so they expound on the negative to be on the top of the list for "breaking news." The media is biased. They all have an agenda to promote self. If you want facts, go to the source of the facts, and stop listening to biased media coverage. Stop going to websites that are bogus, filled with lies, inuendo, fear tactics, and confusion. Go to the source and read for yourself the facts as proposed by our President. http://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/health_care/
President Obama, I support you! I back you 100%!!! I am patiently waiting. Health care is a vital issue with me, because I am a disabled widow. I am not senile, I am not ignorant, and I am educated. I know that over my lifetime, I have seen more effort made on my behalf since President Obama has been in office, than in the past 50 years, and that speaks volumes to me!
Give our President time. He didn't win the election without fighting his way to the top. He needed our support then, and he needs it now! Don't bail in the middle of the war. We still have a hill to overtake. That hill is the opposition to the health care plan. The health care plan is not a drive through window at McDonalds. It's a full course meal, which takes time to prepare. Instead of complaining that the table is not set, get in the kitchen and go to work to help fix the meal. Continue your support for our President.

Listen
Now listen to me when I tell you this
I know from experience, this is some crazy shit
The planes hit the twin towers in 01
So many people didn't even see age 21
We went to war because of Bush
Most people didn't care because they were high off of cush
Gas went up to almost 5 dollars
While we was still wondering how to build another twin towers
After awhile, we stopped thinking about it
But it always came back just a little bit
We tried our best to get Bush out of office
The more we tried, our troops steady ended up in coffins
As the years went on
We still looked beside us and was all alone
Summer felt like Winter
Winter felt like Summer
We all know in our heads, this is one big bummer
This was one of the signs that the world was coming to an end
This is how our troubles began
We had hurricans, earthquakes, and tornados
What's next? The erruption of an volcano
Numerous of people started to pray, 'Dear Father'
Most people thought to themselves, why even bother
Who was there left for us to call?
Are they going to help us at all?
As time went on
We tried to grow strong
We seen a big change in the year 2008
This was when Obama became the great
So many people were so proud
You would hear his name so very loud
This is the man that would make a change
I don't think there isn't one person that don't know his name
As of this moment, we are living in our last days
History always repeat itself, as everyone says
Now, we're all doing good
See how the thugs got out the hood
The sun is shining bright
When will we all see the light?
Obama plans to bring our troops home from the war
Now we can keep our mothers out the bar
We all prayed for and got the best
Tell me this, is we ready for what's next
What's next will be our greatest test
The test that will take us to the next step
Today I lay here and pray
Can you please show me the way?
This is the way I must go
For this is the only way I know
Always and Forever

Dreams Do Come True
The news is getting ugly -- not only because of the precipitous drops on Wall Street, but also because of the barrage of smears and attempts to discredit Barack that are coming from right-wing extremists. I believe these attacks are rooted in fear, and the anger that is erupting at recent Palin and McCain rallies is another symptom of this fear. Americans are losing jobs; Americans are losing health care; Americans are losing their retirement savings... and we're worried about what might come next.
In this context, Barack Obama made another important speech today -- and his words stand in stark contrast to those you see coming from other quarters. I wanted to call your attention to his words, because when we're standing on our neighbors' doorsteps over the next 25 days, we need to anchor our efforts and our responses in Barack's example. We have an AMAZING candidate here -- someone with the extraordinary character, intelligence and talents needed to steer us toward extraordinary solutions to the crises we face.
I encourage you to read this speech as you prepare for the next 3.5 weeks. They will be difficult weeks, but we stand at the threshold of a new era, and it's up to us to make this historic opportunity a reality. Our future, and the future of our kids and grandkids, is in our hands -- let's stay positive and speak from our hearts. If we do that, we're gonna change the world.

"Now is not the time for fear. Now is not the time for panic. Now is the time for resolve and steady leadership. We can meet this moment. We can come together to restore confidence in the American economy. We can renew that fundamental belief – that in America, our destiny is not written for us, but by us. That’s who we are, and that’s the country we need to be right now. " -- Barack Obama, 10/10/08

So many records have been broken during this campaign it is already and has been historical, so this is something that you should be proud of as a role in an phenomenal event that is going to rewrite the way politics are done in Washington, D.C.
The Republican Party still wants to do thing the old fashion way. Ironically, they have picked up on the "Change" campaign of the Democrats and flipped it to their platform as an American slogan.
There is no other party that can say that they represent America as a whole. With people from diverse backgrounds of working classes, ethnicities, aspirations, cultures and orientations, etc we are all here.
And together we must move this campaign forward into the White House. We cannot afford to lose a race of this momentum of this manitude to send a message to Washington, D.C. that the people run this nation.
So I ask you to join me and the millions involved in this campaign to throw your hardest punch for the final blow and a TKO of governmental bureaucratic abuse on Capitol Hill and move this message to the undecided voters to make all the difference that can possibly be made.
The Obama campaign just posted a story about our 15th Ward team on the home page. In case you missed the headline, here's the full story:

Yesterday's rally was great (though way too hot). Everyone was so energized, and Joe Biden did a great job with his first speech as a member of the Obama team. Check out some of my pics from the rally here:

Despite his ad's implication that he supports development of clean, renewable energy sources, McCain's voting record on the issue is clear: he can't even be bothered to show up for votes to support it. His absence speaks volumes.

I'm a twenty something who lives in a conservative suburb of St. Louis. I believe that one of the easiest, most common sense, and least divisive way to get people involved in the political process is to encourage them to vote. And so, for the first time, I decided to go out in public and register people to vote, or encourage those already registered to show up at the polls.
I decided to bring my message to a free public concert. Two other campaigns, both Republicans running for state office, were canvassing for their particular candidates, distributing campaign literature, and shaking hands. I carried little more than a clipboard, and an Obama button. But many people are hesitant of people with clipboards and political buttons. I wanted to be able to bring my message to everyone, even those with strong negative perceptions of Barack Obama. So I took friendly approach. I asked people if they were registered to vote, and encouraged those already registered to vote in both the August primary and the November election. If they were not registered, I offered to help them fill out a registration form. If they refused, I offered them the form, and explained how to deliver the form to the Board of Election Commissioners. Generally, people's body language changed from guarded, to appreciative.
There were ups, and downs. On the upside, nearly everyone I talked with was registered to vote. I also met a couple of conservative leaning people who, upon seeing my button, were sincerely interested in why I supported Obama. On the downside, one of the event organizers confronted me, and stated that she felt that I was disturbing people by walking around with a clipboard and an Obama button. Of course, I didn't want to cause a disturbance since my behavior reflected both upon me, and the Obama campaign. The woman relented when I politely pointed out that the event was free and open to the public, and that I felt encouraging people to vote was hardly a disturbance. From both these ups and downs, I learned something incredibly important about where I live: people aren't going to change their opinions simply by seeing one guy asking if they are registered to vote. But when people see other reasonable people supporting a certain candidate, it can plant a seed that may open them to further persuasion.
Hi all, It’s another day in politics and watching the McCain campaign ice a smear this great political battle with smear and mud seems a remake of the Bush tactic character assassinations that got him elected twice. One thing of note is that McCain accused Barack Obama of not visiting our ailing soldiers in the hospital, the fact is that Barack Obama (according to the two Senators who went with him did visit military hospitals while there. To the best of my memory, 4 of them (maybe it was three). He did so without publicity or camera’s, unless some news crews have video footage, which is not to me released.
As we know, the pentagon situation had nothing to do with camera's and publicty and the "gym" visit was a golf game FOR the troops, in Kuwait!
Loveya,Duane Kuehn Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed: “I was with Senator Obama last week as we met privately with troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Senator Obama listened to their concerns and expressed his gratitude for their service without press or fanfare. He cares for our troops deeply and has worked hard to give them not only the resources they need, but also honor their service with a clearly defined mission and by providing them with the support they have earned when they come home. And just as Senator McCain's support of President Bush's veto of funding for our troops doesn't mean he does not support them, neither does Senator Obama's insistence that we not give George Bush a blank check.”
This op-ed piece is so great that I decided it needed to be posted here:

IT almost seems like a gag worthy of “Borat”: A smooth-talking rookie senator with an exotic name passes himself off as the incumbent American president to credulous foreigners. But to dismiss Barack Obama’s magical mystery tour through old Europe and two war zones as a media-made fairy tale would be to underestimate the ingenious politics of the moment. History was on the march well before Mr. Obama boarded his plane, and his trip was perfectly timed to reap the whirlwind.
He never would have been treated as a president-in-waiting by heads of state or network talking heads if all he offered were charisma, slick rhetoric and stunning visuals. What drew them instead was the raw power Mr. Obama has amassed: the power to start shaping events and the power to move markets, including TV ratings. (Even “Access Hollywood” mustered a 20 percent audience jump by hosting the Obama family.) Power begets more power, absolutely.
In last night's CBS interview with Senator McCain, he clearly misrepresented the facts surrounding the surge. Thankfully for him, CBS decided to clean up the error before it aired the interview on CBS nightly news. I note that they also decided to follow up Senator McCain's comments with some "statistics" regarding the success of the surge, completely forgetting Senator Obama's point that diplomacy might have worked as well -- or better -- than the surge has. And yet, McCain just promoted his new video about the press being in love with Obama....

My girlfriend & I just got home from registering voters who were standing in line for the premiere showing of "The Dark Knight." (Thanks to fellow volunteer, Melanie Shouse, for suggesting this great idea!)
What a great opportunity for reaching out to brand new voters!! About a third of the voter registration cards we collected tonight were from people born in 1990 -- young adults new to the democratic process, but FIRED UP and ready to vote for change! Other cards were from college students who are registered where their parents live, but wanted to make sure they could vote here -- in person -- this November. They usually don't bother to vote, some said, but this time they know it counts.
Above all, people seemed grateful that we were there. Getting registered was on their minds, but they weren't sure where to go. Over and over people thanked us for being there, or said simply, "Yep -- already registered. Go Obama!"
I know the theaters are going to be packed all weekend, and it works really well to catch movie-goers while they wait in line for seats (some of our new voters had been in line for 4 hours or more). I definitely plan to go back out there tomorrow evening, and I invite others to join me. We need all the voters we can get here in St. Louis to help turn Missouri BLUE in November!!
(If you'd like to join me at the Moolah Theatre & Lounge on Lindell Blvd. tomorrow night, I'll be there from 5 to 6 pm, in advance of the 6:05 pm showing. There is also a 9:05 showing that will surely attract a big crowd -- I hope someone can take that shift as well! I'll create an event where you can RSVP on this website.)
Fired up in St. Louis,
Jen G.
Hi All,
Covered by the FISA fiasco we weren't watching behind the scenes.
As Barack Obama was taking the big hits for voting "Yes" on the FISA bill (which it was known was already going to pass by a huge majority without his vote), nobody seemed to notice the Medicare bill and the number of Republican Senators that jumped ship and voted, "Yes" on it.
Many of us were wiping the tears from our eyes as if maybe Barack Obama had stood us up for a date. When in fact, as Barack is not President yet but we are very aware of his persusive bipartisan influence; the Medicare bill was being passed with a majority vote that George Bush cannot veto.
A huge victory for the people of this country. What happened? We all know the give and take of Washington politics, the behind the doors goings on which Obama says will Change when he is President. But, Obama is not President yet and still apart of the give and take of Washington Politics.
I would venture to gain that the give and take was a trade off on a FISA bill which was going to pass anyway, for a Medicaid bill which wasn't going to pass. A bill which will now help to pave the way for a badly needed Universal Health Care bill.
Who knows but, I say 3 cheers to mybarackObama! And Ted Kennedy who surely had much to do with this.
Loveya,
Duane Kuehn
