I mentioned my enthusiasm for Barack Obama to a colleague at work; and he said that he wasn't supporting him. He said that Barack was an imperialist and war monger. I said, "What"?
He said he learned this from a Black political commentator, Larry Pinkney, who is on progressive talk radio. He then emailed me an article penned by Larry Pink...ney.
I'll provide more details later, but the curious reader can do your own Google. You'll find plenty. Larry Pinkney, AFrican American, is targeting Barack in scandalous terms.
Any one can be free to critique, this is, after all, America. But what does Pink...ney have to say about GW Bush? Nada. John McCain? nada. Enemies of the race? nada.
So, Mr. Pinkney, you are hereby dismissed!
I am deeply disturbed that some Republicans are standing fast on our country remaining at war. We've done too much already, which is why I agree with Barack Obama, that it's time to stop these over-burdening war efforts. In some cases, I believe that military service members are not really heard, since it goes against the rules to speak out against the commander-in-chief. Therefore, it is often assumed that those serving agree to the war.
Here is my (very personal) suggestion for those elected officials who would like this country to remain at war:
1. First, give up your elected "seats" if you have not yet served your country. America can vote for a surrogate for you, and keep your "seat" warm in case you return.2. Next, go to your local recruiting station, and enlist in the branch of your choice (e.g. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard). (You'll have to accept low pay and assurances of exceptionally long periods of time away from loved ones.)3. Relieve those service members who are currently deployed and fighting the war, especially those who have done tour after tour after tour.4. If you are one of the lucky ones, return to our country, and assume your "seat" with your new perspective on this. (Trust me, you will have a new perspective!)
Barack Obama's diligence, sound judgement, and hope for a better America is more than just welcomed; It's imperative that his message of change for "now" continues to transcend. He brings a message and promise which pierces the soul of many Americans, with the wisdom to back it up!
OBAMA '08!!!
John McCain was reported in today's LA Times stealing the intellectual property of Barack Obama. This is what was reported:
"After assailing the Democratic candidates, McCain puckishly ended by swiping one of Obama's lines, declaring, 'I am fired up and ready to go!'" (LA Times, February 13, 2008, p. A18).
I mean, can't they come up with their own jingles? Even Barack credits the phrase to the woman who created it.
What does this mean? It means that we have a brilliant leader in Barack Obama, and a new hope for our country and our world.
I can hardly wait until we witness history in November. Barack Obama wins by a landslide!
A note to Hillary Clinton:
Your campaign is in shambles. Shaking it up will do no good. The cause is lost, you are in a hopeless situation. Why? Because people like me are involved in a magical campaign and it is spreading like wild fire.
I haven't voted for a democrat in, well I can't remember when. Oh, I vote, but always Green or Peace and Freedom.
I have never contributed money to a presidential campaign.
But look what's happened: I have caught the Yes We Can fever that Barack Obama has created. I have become involved in his campaign, as I write notes and blogs EVERY DAY.
I have contributed, now, hundreds of dollars, and I have reached out to others who have contributed hundreds of dollars.
I am committed to continuing the outreadh, and getting folks to do what I am doing (and many have!). Between now and August, this thing will get WAY out of control.
This is a true grassroots campaign. The old era Bush-Clinton-Bush style of politics (raising millions from very rich people like yourself) has no chance in a truly populist movement. Hillary: It's hopeless.
"Yes we can" was and is a brilliant motto. The Clinton camp is using it too (what are THEY thinking about?)
But we can change the motto to: "Yes we will!" And, yes, we will!
With Barack as our next President, we are all franchised, given a voice, a role, in making the world, as Barack would say, "what it ought to be."
Hooray!
Yes, we will!
I'm watching TV on Tuesday, December 12, and Hillary Rodham Clinton is on the news. She says, she wants every American "who works full time makes a minimum wage of nine dollars and fifty cents." The people cheer. Let's see: $9.50 x 40 = $380.00 x 52 = $19,760 a year.
Hillary just "loaned" $5,000,000 of her own money to her political campaign. To make that much money, you'd have to work, at the wage she is advocating for ($9.50 per hour), and assuming you don't take a vacation, 253 years. I wish I would live so long! And this, of course, assumes no taxes.
What do I want? I want teachers to make six figures (especially K-12), then you'd only have to work 50 years to make the 5 million. Not too unreasonable. But NO ONE lives 253 years, I don't think.
We need to CALL Julian Bond out for trying to steal this election from Barack for Hillary. This is the toll free number to the national office of the NAACP. (877) NAACP-98. Please take a quick minute and join our voices by expressing your outrage that he would take this position. The DNC has NOT disenfranchised ONLY the black voters of FL and MI, but all votes. He is a known supporter of the Clintons and is inappropriately using his position within this distinguised black organization for his personal agenca.
Read part of the article from MSNBC here. The link to the entire article is below.
updated 6:40 p.m. PT, Tues., Feb. 12, 2008WASHINGTON - A prominent civil rights leader has told the Democratic National Committee that refusing to seat delegates from Florida and Michigan would disenfranchise both states' minority communities.
In a Feb. 8 letter to DNC Chairman Howard Dean, NAACP chairman Julian Bond expressed "great concern at the prospect that million of voters in Michigan and Florida could ultimately have their votes completely discounted." Refusing to seat the states' delegations could remind voters of the "sordid history of racially discriminatory primaries," he said.
The DNC penalized Michigan and Florida for moving their primaries to earlier dates in violation of party rules. Both states were stripped of their delegates, and the party's presidential candidates signed a pledge not to campaign in either state. Florida lost all 210 delegates, including its superdelegates; Michigan, 156.

The momentum is growing exponentially. It's kind of like a nuclear reaction.
So, too, is our involvement: each one reach two, and the next thing you know, Barack Obama wins by a landslide.
I never thought that i would find myself raising money, and working one or three hours a day, on a political campaign. (actually, my second ex- ran for City Council, and that was a very involved time....).
Let's keep it going. Yes, we will!
“She might be playing with fire with the Hispanic community,” Diaz told The Associated Press on Tuesday. “I just wanted them to know that we are not innocent, to believe that the person resigned on her own. No one resigns when things are going good.” Diaz has not endorsed a candidate for president.
The above was a paragraph I read today, which has recently been getting a little media attention. It can be found here: http://youdecide08.foxnews.com/2008/02/12/new-york-hispanic-leaders-concerned-about-clinton-campaign-manager-resignation/
This is possibly beneficial for Barack Obama's campaign. It seems to puzzle many people and is on the brink of a major discussion across the country, especially with upcoming elections in delegate-rich states with high Hispanic poplulations. This questions the real reason(s) why Patti Solis Doyle was replaced by the Clinton campaign, and may have a role in whether Senator Clinton can continue to depend on the Hispanic vote. Please share your thoughts and opinions.
The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.

I watched Michelle Obama last night on Larry King Live. She will make a great First Lady.
Michelle is honest, intelligent, courageous, an independent thinker, values family and country, is charismatic, warm, down-to-earth, and speaks to the people. When Larry asked how she and Barack will handle the Republican machine should he be the democratic nominee, Michelle said Barack's campaign will keep it respectful and not go down that road.
People are so ready for change, and voters for Barack are coming from all different groups. Obama gives hope, something badly needed today, she said. Michelle said she is prepared to lose, but will do everything she can to ensure Barack wins the race.

This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Wheneverthey shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it. ~ Abraham Lincoln First Inaugural Address
Clinton's is back again and using the same code language that her husband used a few weeks ago to downplay Obama's victories this past weekend. The new strategy from her campaign is that she has been "tried" and "tested" by the Republican machine and that Obama would fold and find it very hard to deal with this same pressure. At the time of her testing, she had never been through anything like that before and she managed to pull it off. And at the time she was roughly his age and had the same amount of experience. What makes her think that at the time she had the necessary skills to handle this and he does not? This is a message that I hope Obama latches onto, especially in the debates.

The [link to the] above news story I ran across today is one of the most conclusive news stories I've read in a while. I find it particularly interesting, however, that no deeper spotlight attention has been given to the real reason why Patti Solis Doyle was replaced by Senator Clinton as the campaign manager. The timing was just eerily suspicious of anything favoring fairness, good judgement, or sound thinking - especially since the former campaign manager is Hispanic. This may dig deep into the Hispanic vote, especially with the state of Texas voting in early March.

The tsunami of Iraqi refugees may be the greatest refugee crisis on the planet, and has received only modest attention in this country. The Bush administration takes no responsibility for the crisis, nor does it see any need to respond to it at an appropriate level, other than to say "The Iraq War has been a success." We know this is a lie, but the true history of these refugees is a horrific tale of human suffering caused by Bush's war of choice and subsequent occupation of Iraq.
If this crisis were to happen to the U.S. with a population of 300,000,000+ citizens, it would cause a catastrophic situation in America, and for the surrounding countries of Mexico, South America and Canada.
Michael Schwartz writes a telling article, "Iraq's Tidal Wave of Misery: The First History of the Planet's Worst Refugee Crisis" explaining why a continued occupation of Iraq and pacifying that country will "create wave after wave of misery.

Barack Obama never voted for the war in Iraq. When he says his first task when occupying the White House is to begin immediate withdrawal of our troops, I believe him. Obama understands the plight of the Iraqis, and has the compassion and courage to do something about it. It is the most humane thing to do at this point.

Imagination is a creative tool that we have, but most people very rarely use, it strengthens your creative abilities, and is a great tool for recreating and remodeling your world and life.
So today and everyday I am encouraging you to take a few moments, 2 minutes of your day, take a few deep breaths and then close your eyes and imagine.
Imagine Barack Obama standing on the steps in Washington in Jan.2009 being sworn in as the president of the united States.
Imagine his hand as it touches the bible and then imagine his lips as he says I DO.
IMAGINE THE SPEAKER STANDING AT THE POTIUM AND SAYS I give you the president of the United States Barack Obama!!!!
Now imagine that the whole world is watching from some TV somewhere around the world. Imagine they can see that America really did stand for change, and yes they really can do something new, something fresh, and yes there will be something other than politics as usual in America.
Imagine peace.
