I received the following letter from LeeAnn in Monroe
I am a 47 year old who is a strong supporter of Barack Obama. I feel this country needs change in all of the issues he stands for in his campaign. I have recently lost my job of 5 years and am now collecting unemployment. My husband and I are loosing our home and can't seem to be able to get help to keep it. Our health insurance is also not the best and both my husband and myself have had to give up going to the doctor in order to eat and put gas in our car. I also have two older son's that I do not want to be involved in a draft due to the war. I wanted to do my part and get out in the community to talk with my fellow americans to see if I could sway those that are are either undecided, or voting republican. For the first time I went door to door on 9-16-08 in support of you Senator Obama. I look up to you and know that you will run this country with superb excellence. We do not need another 4 years repeating the last 8. Godspeed

Now is the time for us to get out there and get things done!! The neighbor to neighbor tool on the Obama website is a fantastic way to reach out to your individual neighborhood. Remember, neighborhoods comprise cities/townships, cities comprise states, and states comprise the country! Get out there, talk to your neighbors. Let them know you care enough about this country to share your political views with them.
We must let our neighborhoods know the presence of the Obama campaign, and yes, on your street, in your neighborhood, in your city.
We must not be defeated come this November! The country cannot take four more years of the same!!!
Plymouth People for Obama have been getting busier lately. Just last night, we held a fundraiser and party for our Obama deligate to the Democratic National Convention, Mike Siegrist, and we've got a few more events scheduled over the next couple days:
On Friday Night we'll be meeting up at the Plymouth Coffee Bean at 7 PM to go out canvassing for new voters during the concert at the park in downtown Plymouth.
On Saturday morning two different groups of will be downtown: one will be registering voters at the Farmer's Market in the Gathering at 9 AM, the other will be meeting at the Bean at 11 AM to go out hunting for voters in Plymouth neighborhoods. The campaign has identified several neighborhoods with Democratic leanings but low voter turnout, so, nerve-wracking as it may be, walking the streets in these spots is a big part of getting out the Obama vote in Plymouth!
And, the highlight, on Monday evening at 6:30 we'll be canvassing neighborhoods again, and celibrating Barack's 47th birthday with cake at the Coffee Bean!
In short, we're getting things rolling here in Plymouth. Most events are 2 hours or less and anyone is free to help as little or as much as they like. We look foward to seeing you!
After the rain disrupted our first voter registration drive, things have been going much more smoothly. We're going door to door to apartments in Canton and registering voters and signing up volunteers. Last time we went out there were 7 of us and we registered 6 new voters in an hour! I believe all of the people we registered were Obama supporters. Last week volunteers in Michigan registered 4,000 voters! This is how we're going to win Michigan and the election. When we all do a little, it truly adds up and we change the world.

In the face of impossible odds, people who love their country can change it. - Barack
I'll be at the Plymouth Farmer's Market registering voters, signing up volunteers, fundraising, and talking to people about Barack every Saturday from now until fall. I'd love to have some fellow supporters with me (in fact I would like to take a vacation or two this summer) so if you live in the area and want to work together, please come on out. You won't be able to miss me - I'm the wild tattoo'd guy with the wolf-dog. Oh and the Obama swag.
Hope to see ya there!
I can't possibly understand how it is that Clinton and her supporters feel that Obama shouldn't have any Michigan votes due to the fact that his name was not on the ballot. They believe he's not a supporter of Michigan. Ridiculous! He took his name off the ballot because he, along with every candidate in the race, made an agreement that they would not take part in an election that was not approved of by both the republican and democratic committees. Obama is the only candidate in the race that has honored his agreement. In fact, every candidate but Obama broke the party rules by allowing their names on the ballot. Obama honored his agreement even though he knew it was not in his political best interests to do so.
I am from Michigan and as much as it angered and frustrated me to vote uncommitted on January 15, it is not Obama I blame. Instead, I trust and respect him even more.

I think this is what makes him so appealing. Wes ran back in 04... and I wont lie he was my guy. The first politician I ever donated too. Reasons why I Believe He is the right choice:-A General
-Was against the Iraq war from Beginning!!! Very important for the ticket-Rhode Scholar-Purple heart recipient-Clinton Supporter (bill appointed him too NATO Commander and fired him when he disagreed with him.) Still he remained loyal ... I like that in people-southern (he won OKLAHOMA back in 04 and placed high in most white southern states)Just to name a few....Two main thing 1. he will get a cross over vote2. obama is the type of candidate that has shown he sits at a table with people who agree and disagree with him. What better way to harden the case for Clinton supporters then to reach out to one of her best.
