You Go!, President Obama! I thought this press conference was the best yet. They threw everything at him but the kitchen sink, they jabbed and was cynical. I am proud of the way President Obama stood firm, confident, positive and practical. Confidence and persistent will get the job done. The overall American people supports your Presidency.
I would also like to give acknowledgement to the President for giving the opportunity to a more wide variety of reporters that are invited to the White House.
My Truth.
Regarding stem cell research, I'm on the fence. It seems like a serious moral issue. I believe that once the sperm and the egg creates an embryo, life has begun, it is the very beginning stage of forming into a being, be it human or animal.
But, on the other hand, if you have embryos that would otherwise be destroyed, then why not use them for the betterment of an existing life. With this, is this playing God? Does the end justify the means?
One big question that bothers me, 'If taxpayers money is funding the research, whether a person is pro or con, does that make every working person morally, ethically, and religiously responsible?'
As far as the Bible says, 'thou shall not kill.'
Question: 'Will we be indirectly guilty of murder?'

Read on: From: Chairman Art Torres, California Democratic Party <cdpeditor@cadem.org>
In 2008, we were resolute in our fight for change in Washington — change in our state — change in our own communities. But the fight is not over. Now, more than ever, President-Elect Barack Obama needs a strong Democratic Party behind him. That’s why my 2009 resolution is to make sure the California Democratic Party is ready to help our President whenever he needs.
However, I need your help. On January 10 and 11, 2009, California Democrats will gather to elect almost one-third of the delegates to the California Democratic Party. These delegates will decide the direction of the Party and most importantly do whatever it takes to support the Obama-Biden Administration in the coming years.
Can you join me in reorganizing the Party by coming out to vote for your Assembly District delegate representatives on January 10 or 11, 2009? www.cadem.org/ademrsvp
On January 10 and 11, 2009, twelve delegates will be elected from every Assembly District. These delegates will represent you for a two-year term in the California Democratic Party, decide what candidates and ballot initiatives get the official endorsement of the Party, elect Party officers, and write the Party platform.
Will you make sure you are being well represented in the California Democratic Party by coming out to vote on January 10 or 11, 2009?
If you were a registered Democrat as of October 20, 2008 and are still registered democratic in that same Assembly District, you are eligible to participate. Simply pre-register here and come out to your Assembly District Delegate Election on January 10 or 11, 2009 to vote. You can find your specific voting location and time, as well as candidate information on our web site at www.cadem.org/ademlocations. Remember pre-registration is not mandatory, but will save you time.
I hope you can join me in continuing to make this Party strong. It’s the one New Year’s resolution that we can all make—and keep! Pre-register now to vote in the Assembly District Meetings.
Sincerely,
Sen. Art Torres (Ret.) Chairman, California Democratic Party
Ok, I cannot stand silently on this one.
I will begin by admitting that I am potentially a Rick Warren defender, being male, white, straight, and mildly conflicted on the meaning, or more precisely, definition, of marriage. I even flirted with the idea of supporting Prop 8 (until I REALLY thought about it, and saw the vomit inducing campaign supporting 8).
That said, WHAT CAN PRESIDENT ELECT BARACK OBAMA BE THINKING????!!!!!
I am aghast. For a man who made very few mistakes on his reach-for-the-stars run and stunning victory (Yeah!!!), when he stumbles, he really makes it a whopper.
Look, ok, in plain simple words Mr. President, its not just about the sensibility of gays and Lesbians. I mean sure they almost all supported you, sweated their little gay souls on the pavements and phone banks. But I mean, you don't OWE anybody, and we suspect that the volume of advocacy may really be awfully loud in proportion to the actual numbers of same sex wannabe married anyway.
It is SO much much bigger than that. By this move, you have ripped the heart, guts and soul out of 90 percent of your campaign speeches. One considers the great leaders you invoke, from Lincoln, MLK, RFK, and the powerless you empower...the 100 year old black lady who now can vote for a president who hears her voice. Rick Warren is profoundly, hideously out of step with all of this, with all that your campaign meant. Tolerance, empowerment, story of self, inclusion, a place at the table. His statements are a grotesque affront to all this.
Mr. President, you are not just dropping by his church, or haveing lunch with the guy. He will be the spiritual center of what will be, in every sense and meaning of the term, an HISTORIC inauguration. He is out of place. He should not be a star in that firmament.
I am sorry sir, you screwed up on this on big time. I urge you to reconsider.
Since President-Elect Obama first made his announcement to run for office, I have been very excited about this campaign. For twenty-one months, I have talked about nothing but Barack Obama for so long, as we all have. Posting on blogs, writing letters to editors, everything I could think of.
I've met fabulous people while volunteering at rallies, voter registration drives and fundraisers. Especially the people in MYBO groups. I laughed, cried, worried and enjoyed the support of the folks in the BarackObama-138/LosAngelesforObama08 group.
We cheered, whooped and hollered and cried with tears of joy when the votes came in, with the realization that our candidates had won. And we cried again during and after our President-Elect gave his speech. The significance of it all overwhelmed us.
How do I, we, come down off this high? What do we do with this energy that drove us for so long. Where do we walk now? Who do we phone now? Who do we raise money for now? What do we do next?
In helping to elect President-Elect Obama and Vice President-Elect Biden (I so love the sound of that :), to move our country forward, I believe I will get involved in Community Service. Maybe Habitat for Humanity or get involved with the rebuilding of Katrina Survivors. There are so many causes out there that need help. I don't want to stop now.

WOW!!!!! PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA, NOVEMBER 4th, 2008. WOW!!!!! What can I say, it's taking some time for this victory to feel real, it has not fully sunk in yet. I cried last night, I woke up crying this morning and wasn't sure what I was feeling for the most part of the day. I have to admit, I am, like most of California are still in a state of shock. We are literally in the mist of History, a Historical, a Monumental stoppage in time, my life time, my daughters life time, my mothers life time, its surreal.
I went to Century City, Regency Hyatt and celebrated the victory with hundreds of other Obama supporters, Dignitaries and everyone else that was excited about the win. I arrived back at home a little after 3am, needless to say, I had a blast, the crowds of people were just great. Everyone of all nationalities was so elated and rejoicing.
When it was announced that Barack Obama is the new President-Elect, my first thought went to Malcolm X, Dr. King Jr and all the deceased civil rights leaders (mainly Harriet Tubman and Sojourn Truth), regarding what would they think and say about this moment, how would they have reacted and be feeling right at that moment.
My most ultimate desire, I hope every soul that endured slavery, created slavery, the oppressor and enslaved are able to know that this moment happened, a black man has been elected President of the United States of America and the world wanted it this way. My inner most feels so full..........I can't speak any more right now.
I hope this new America brings Peace, Unity, and Prosperity. GLORY BE TO GOD, HALLELUJAH, AMAN.
MY TRUTH.
Where forty three US presidents have exclusively been Caucasians for the last 172 years in America, almost two centuries later, tomorrow, American voters will create the landslide victory of Senator Barack Obama, as he becomes the first African American president in all of 172 years of US presidency!!
Wow, this is so historic and is giving me goosebumps as I read the last acts of Amanda Jones, in her 109 years, the daughter of a slave, voted for her first African American president, seeing change in her lifetime. But she is not unique, as even Barack's grandmother, affectionately called " Toot" by Barack, her last act was about voting her grandson into office and she is of Caucasian, midwestern roots.
Tomorrow, if Missouri is indicative of the battleground states, one of the states I called today from California's Century Plaza Hotel, I spoke to 15 folks who shared with me they are enthusiastically voting Barack Obama, and only 2 declared their emphatic, almost diminished and in hushed tones, almost ashamed in voting Senator John McCain. But, mostly declaring it out of loyalty and tradition! Well, I respect their choice.
The same way I respect a Republican friend who could not find her polling place, I jokingly called her tonight and told her to skip voting if she is voting McCain, and then, informed her just the same of her new polling place, courtesy of mybarackobama.com website's vote for change feature, and encouraged her to consider voting Barack Obama. I figured that since she is still undecided and she declared moving away from voting McCain, she just might vote Obama tomorrow. Yes, that is how doggedly determined I am!
Tomorrow, I will monitor the polling place, as one of the pollworkers, and then, I will go to KSCI-18 to share with my kababayans why I voted Obama and have a more extended discussion on race and racism.
Yes, it is time to turn away from slavery, Jim Crow's lynching past, and embrace our diversity, starting with voting our first African American President. After all, he surpassed the voters' challenge by fundraising a record amount of $750 million dollars, almost 2/3 of a billion dollars, amassed over 3,000, 000 volunteers and ran an almost flawless, smart, superbly disciplined campaign that was able to mobilize every single volunteer in the ground, and inspired them to no end.
Tomorrow, even my community papers will have feature articles discussing race and racism and why our darker fears had to be transcended to be part of this new American history! Yes, we can, our real history is just beginning to be written, and this time, it includes all Americans of every ethnicity and every age group!!
And, it is a great feeling to be in the frontlines of making of history! And now I just pray I get to become part of the inauguration, after all, I already bought my tickets to DC last month to be there in January 2009, that is how much optimism I have tomorrow in the goodness of the American people, their ability to write their own progressive history, just like in 1860 and 1932!!
Will the MyBarackObama website still exist after the election, whether or not our Barack Obama becomes the next President, this website is an online collectors item? And, when our Barack Obama becomes President, will the website keep the existing information available?, And just transfer over to a continuing useful tool for all of the Obama supporters to have a hands on community involvement of an active joint venture of the Presidency? Since this is such a monumental, historical event, this website has to continue, it has brought so many people together, discussion of issues, renewed community involvement, awaken new interest in government. With this Presidency, people want to stay connected and involved. I will be sending out a mass email to encourage others to help keep the interest in this particular website available for the duration of our next President Barack Obama.
Please join with me and send an email and/or a letter of interest to the Obama for America Campaign. Thank you all.
I am ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, SURE that Sen. Barack Obama is THE man for the job, PRESIDENT of THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA. UNITED, that's the key word, this man will be attempting what no other president has been able to do. The nation is hurting and is hungry for real change that will matter in their lives and the lives of their children.
Tonight, Barack Obama presented a well thought-out presentation of what he wants to do with healthcare, education, housing and the lost American dream. I feel I need to say that, I truly believe this man cares. He cares about what you and I care about, he has been there, how could he not understand. This is exactly what we as a hurting nation, the poor, the middle-class and small businesses needs, we all as Mr. Obama stated, want the same thing, a better America. We all want to be able to provide for our families, have money for retirement and money for our kids college. We ALL want to give our children the best of education, healthcare and a home that we can safely raise a family.
How many of us can relate to the struggles that he watched his mom go through, he will do all he can to make sure that does not happened to anyone else. He experience the problems, he has seen what the problems are and he has expressed his plans to fix it. I for one, believe him and supports him 100%.
Can you spell d-e-s-p-e-r-a-t-i-o-n, I bet John McCain can. Why else would he be so quick to jump on any misspoken word that comes out of the mouth of a Democratic. Mr. Joe Biden was recorded saying, '...people earning under 150k would not be taxed.' Well that was ok to say.
If McCain was any closer to smart he would actually be traveling backwards. Did he not recall Mr. Obama saying that he chose Mr. Biden because he is not a yes man, he thinks independently and not afraid to disagree with him. How is one to come up with good ideas if everyone around them always agreed with them.
So, whether or not Mr. Biden had misspoken or its an actually disagreement, by saying $150k vs. the $250k Mr. Obama has stated, IT IS ACTUALLY OK. Again, I say Mr. Obama DID NOT select Joe Biden to be a 'yes man.'
Keep in mind: This election will be the determining factor as to whether or not the American people truly want REAL CHANGE and if the color of a man skin is no longer a factor.
BILL CLINTON CAN NOT BE TRUSTED RIGHT NOW TO HAVE SEN. BARACK OBAMA'S BACK. HE IS STILL GREATLY VERY BITTER, BITTER, BITTER.
If you did not catch David Lettermen last night, you MUST go online to CBS2.com and watch the show with Bill Clinton and Chris Rock. As intelligent as Mr. Clinton spoke, as brilliant as he is, he is very naive if he thinks people are not paying attention to the obvious bitterness he stills harbor in his heart. Or, is that his purpose, to underhand, to undermine Mr. Obama's run for the white house.
Bill Clinton explained very well the problems our country is currently experiencing, how we got here and how we must fix it. But during all that, he didn't once, not once, state that Barack Obama is the man for the job. He actually gave praise to John McCain a few times and would only group Mr. Obama's name with McCain to say that they are both qualified to be President. Doesn't he know how this kind of half hearted, lack of genuine support of Mr. Obama, hurts the Democrats. It was as if Bill Clinton truly does not want Mr. Obama to win. He needs to remember the bigger picture, that we need a Democrat in the white house and right now that person is Mr. Barack Obama.
It was so disturbing to watch this man sit there with bitterness spewing from his pores. I actually felt hurt. When comedian Chris Rock came on stage, he had an immediate reaction to Bill Clinton's interview with Lettermen. Chris Rock was in shock, he said, "Wow, what intelligence, but was it just me or did he try very hard not to say Barack Obama's name." Chris Rock kept pointing it out that Clinton did not want to speak Mr. Obama's name. Chris had to say, 'Hillary lost, she lost and he needs to get over it,' saying, 'Wow, he is really bitter.'
I felt it was an embarrassing interview, that he couldn't put his feelings aside and show his support for Barack. This was a perfect opportunity for him to attach Mr. Obama's name with everything he spoke about regarding the economic crisis, explaining how Mr. Obama has a plan to fix this problem. But he just wouldn’t do it.
HE ABSOLUTELY BLEW IT, I AM SOOOO DISAPPOINTED IN BILL CLINTON AND YOU WILL BE TOO AFTER YOU HAVE WATCHED HIS APPEARENCE ON DAVID LETTERMEN. DON'T FORGET TO WATCH COMEDIAN CHRIS ROCK'S REACTION TO IT WHEN HE COMES ON STAGE NEXT. SHAME ON YOU, BILL CLINTON, SHAME ON YOU. YOU BETTER GET WITH THE PROGRAM AND USE THE TIME WE HAVE LEFT TO TURN YOUR LACK OF SUPPORT INTO A FULL FLEGE COMMITMENT TO HELP GET MR. BARACK OBAMA ELECTED. WE ALL NEED TO SEND A MESSAGE TO BILL CLINTON, THAT IF HE CAN NOT SPEAK MR. OBAMA'S NAME IN SUPPORT OF, THEN HE NEEDS TO KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT AND GET OUT OF THE WAY.
‘BILL CLINTON, ON BEHALF OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, GET OVER IT ALREADY, HILLARY LOST AND SHE HAS ACCEPTED IT AND IS TRYING TO MOVE ON AND IS GENUINELY MAKING AN ATTEMPT AT SHOWING HER SUPPORT, NOT JUST FOR MR. OBAMA, BUT FOR THE DEMOCRATES AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.’
Calling all Obama supporters to unite in prayer for the Obama family in their time of need. We all have family members that are getting up in age and may not be fairing very well, so lets keep Mr. Obama and his grandmother in our prayers. Lets pray that his grandmother's health is sustained, that she will fair well enough to watch her grandson, Mr. Obama, take office as our next President of the United States of America. Don't forget to pray for Mr. Obama's health as well, because this campaigning has got to be tiring and I'm sure he is barely getting any restful sleep.
Also, please let everyone you know that they can cast their votes now and all the way through to Nov. 4th, at the County Registrar-Recorder office in Norwalk. So pass the good word and lets get out and VOTE!!!
This woman is becoming more and more insulting by the day. How DARE she refer to small towns as 'Pro-American' implying that large cities are less Pro-American. Is she out of her small town mind, this is the kind of rhetoric that will keep people, towns, cities and a nation divided. I'm terrified that this woman is so close to possibly stepping in as President of our UNITED States.
I'm so over this Palin phase and it couldn't pass soon enough. By the way, Sarah's appearance on SNL...????, the overall skit was entertaining and funny, but Palin's appearance did not add any extra excitement. Even Tina Fey said, she is so done with playing Palin and can't wait until Nov. 5th, which is the last day she will play Palin again. Tina Fey has also stated, 'if Palin wins, she will leave earth.' LOL, Tina Fey, we all share your sentiments.
What!!!!!!!!! This is what I'm talking about. John McCain got 'Trader' Joe Lieberman and we got one of the Highest Ranking Members of the Republican Party... Former Secretary of State, Gen. Colin Powell. I am extremely over joyed. Mainly because, I have always admired Gen. Powell, he is so intelligent, decent, committed, well respected, and lets not forget is a man of high moral values and ethical standards. This man does not PLAY, he is very BIG on education and is a HUGE supporters of young people. Personally, I feel that this is the biggest endorsement Obama has received. Outstanding!, the interview that has put the nail in the coffin of the McCain run for the presidency.
Gen. Powell explained his concerns and position very well on today's 'Meet the Press.' Gen. Powell stated that, he has concerns with the direction his party has taken, that over the last several weeks he has found McCain a little unsure of how to deal with the economic crisis, that McCain had different approaches daily and didn't have a complete grasp on the economy's problems. Gen. Powell further stated that, he questions McCain's judgment in selecting Sarah Palin, disappointed with the approaches the McCain camp has taken with the campaign ads regarding Bill Ayers, the robo’ calls questioning Obama's patriotism and by suggesting Obama is a Muslim. Gen. Powell further stated that he is also disappointed and troubled by senior members of his own party dropping suggestions that Obama is a Muslim and associates with terrorist.
Regarding what Gen. Powell says about Mr. Obama, after watching him over the past several weeks, he stated that, "Mr. Obama has displayed a steadiness, an intellectual curiosity, a depth of knowledge, Mr. Obama's pick of a VP that he(Gen. Powell) feels is ready to be President on day one, Mr. Obama's overall approach and that Mr. Obama has a definitive way of doing business that will serve the people well." Gen. Powell followed up with saying that, "Mr. Obama has given a more broader reach into the needs of the people and is crossing all lines, ethnic lines, racial lines and generational lines and Mr. Obama is teaching that all villages, towns has value, both big and small."
Its like I said early on, John McCain's judgment has come into question when he decided to play political trickery with his selection of Sarah Palin and when he decided to go negative after saying he wouldn't, trying to brand Mr. Obama as a terrorist and Muslim. McCain's own party is turning on him and its like I said early on, he will have only his self to blame and Palin will be known for single-handedly killing a presidential candidacy.
GOD Bless America. This is MY Truth.
Colin Powell's story on Meet the Press this morning about the grave of a fallen American soldier, who happened to be a Muslim, summed up a vision of an America which practices tolerance, which welcomes people of all ethnic backgrounds, and which tells anyone that they can achieve anything they want in this country. It seems the final straw for Powell in moving him to endorse Obama was the McCain campaign's tactics of sowing suspicion of foreign-sounding names, engaging in guilt by association, and suggesting that only white Christian small-town voters are real Americans. Ask Colin Powell: which campaign is truly pro-American? Which campaign embraces everyone and excludes no one? Which campaign has the chance of uniting us instead of dividing us?
Conservative commentators are already trying to discount the value of the Powell endorsement by attempting to explain it away as one African-American supporting another. While such affinity must count for something--Powell himself said more than six months ago that he was excited to see an African-American running for president, and Condaleeza Rice has said the same thing--it would not have led to an endorsement had John McCain not run the type of campaign that he has. Indeed, trying to explain everything on the basis of racial affinity only reflects the kind of divisive mindset that is leading the McCain campaign to defeat. If your vision of America is narrow-minded, bigoted, xenophobic, and distrustful, then you are bound to judge everyone's actions with that same us vs. them mindset. On the other hand, if your campaign is open, inclusive, and tolerant, then you are going to be able to see the bigger picture. Recent statements by the McCain-Palin ticket reveal that they only have the capacity to play to a narrow subset of Americans. And they can call their supporters the real Americans, or the pro-Americans, or whatever they want, but it is becoming increasingly clear that by alienating everyone else, they are destroying their chance to win the election, or to govern effectively, even if they could win.
Colin Powell may have been torn because he is a Republican and because he has long admired John McCain, but after listening to his vision of the meaning of this country, and how it has been distorted by his party, the choice for him must have been clear-cut.
Excuse my language, but if you watched tonight's 'Last Presidential Debate', you are either really pissed-off at loose lip McCain with his continued lies and negative jabs, snippets or you have as much restraint as Mr. Obama. I wanted to put my hands around McCain's neck every time he spewed that Judas tongue of his. Although Mr. Obama does not need anyone to speak for him, I am saying what he is to decent to say out loud.
Regardless if you are Republican or Democrat, you have got to admire Mr. Obama's level of calmness, self-control, patience and overall respectfulness. Me, I think I would have smacked him good. To sit there and be so bold-faced to out right lie on national tv to the American public has got to take some real unscrupulous behavior.
I know the Presidency is important, but really, you have got to have some self-respect which leads you to have respect for your opponent. McCain is some kind of dummy, whom let his camp urge, goat him into being negative, go for the jugular style attacks to attempt to get back on top. The majority of American people are not stupid and they will see through McCain's desperate attempts.
McCain had better be careful, because what goes around will surely come back around and when it does he had better check his EKG. Or, just keep relying on that 'service to his country' bit, because KARMA is a real b----. HE WAS OUT RIGHT DEAD WRONG on bringing up -Bill Ayers and ACORN.
And someone please, if anyone knows any of those retards of the ACRON organization that has done anything questionable, to please stay clear of the Obama campaign. Mr. Obama does NOT support nor need people helping him that has ethical and moral issues.
McCain really showed his true colors, he does not like Obama, his jealousy would barely allow him to look Obama in the eye. I think he may have been afraid he may start agreeing with Mr. Obama.
I'll have more of my thoughts on the debate after I have watched it a second time. Until then, Obama supporters get out there and set the lies straight with facts.
WHY WE MUST CONTINUE TO WORK HARD IN THE CAMPAIGN:

PLEASE PHONE BANK WHENEVER YOU CAN!
The McCain campaign promises to get nasty. Their excuse is that nothing else will work. I mean, what do we expect them to do, talk about their approach to the issues? That will not win them very many votes. No, their only hope is to raise doubts about Barack Obama.
The Obama campaign should respond forcefully, of course, but should continue to resist the urge to engage in mud-slinging in return. That would be just what the McCain campaign wants. No less a political expert than John McCain himself said during the primary campaign (in reference to attacks on him by Mitt Romney), that if you get down in the mud and wrestle with a pig, you are going to get dirty, and the pig likes it!
We need to remember that the politics of hope and change have conquered the politics of hate and fear so far this year, and should continue to be successful on election day.
