Hello everyone,
After months of hosting events and calling friends and family members, we are proud to announce that we registered 152 people and raised $1005! This dollar amount is due to increase because a friend of ours will be giving us a check for $1000! He committed to matching our fundraising goal of $1000 and thanks to so many people who want CHANGE, we surpassed it by $5! :)
During many of our voter registration events, we encountered a lot of indifference which demoralized us, however, meeting people who share our passion immediately fired us up! We want to thank all the people who stepped up to the plate and inspired us to keep going. Such as the 93 year old man who became a US citizen and wanted to make sure that he could cast his vote for Senator Barack Obama! People like Josie and Mayra Juarez two young women from Los Angeles, CA who were first time volunteers and who became very excited to learn that we were sisters as well!
There are only a few weeks left and we are very much committed to phone banking. As Senator Barack Obama said, we should not get cocky and we need to continue to work hard to reach out to undecided voters.
Yes We Can! Si Se Puede!
In solidarity,
Christina Torres

Do you live in the Greater Oxnard area?
Do you have spare time next sunday between 2pm and 5pm?
Do you want free food and free wifi?
I'm holding a phonebank in Oxnard on Sunday 28th from 2 to 5. Even if you don't feel comfortable making phone calls we'll find a way for you to help the campaign.
I've read a lot of interesting and articulate blogs on here and would like to tell you about DailyKos.com-
I'm just a blog reader and stumbled upon DailyKos.com through Digg.com but some of you would benefit by writing over there and getting more exposure to other readers on your thoughts about elections in general and issues regarding Obama and the campaign.

I emailed my representative, Lois Capps, about supporting the Bush impeachment process.
If you feel the same way, please take a minute or two to send an email!
It has a pre-written letter (you can edit if you want) and it automatically sends it to your rep according to your zip code.
Quick and painless!

I caught a few minutes of Dan Abrams’ broadcast on MSNBC where the heads were flapping about the differences in attitude between Barack Obama and John McCain on the recent US Supreme Court decision to restore habeas corpus to detainees held at Guantanamo. McCain even trotted out Rudy Guiliani, Mr. 9-1-1, to underscore his point.
The way they framed it was like this: “Obama would allow Bin Laden to appeal to the US Courts.”
Rep. Dennis Kucinich is doing what should have been done a long time ago:
Calling Bush out!
(Source: Democrats.com)
History is in the making as I type: Rep. Dennis Kucinich is on the floor of the House reading 35 Articles of Impeachment againstPresident George W. Bush.
At last!!!!!
We've waited years to find one Member of Congress brave enough to stand up for our Constitution, for which generations of Americans have fought and died. We are thrilled and honored that Dennis Kucinich has chosen to be that one genuine patriot.
We congratulate him on his historic leadership, and pledge to do everything in our power to persuade the House to adopt all 35 Articles and put George W. Bush on trial before the Senate of the United States, exactly as the Founding Fathers wanted.
We can be sure Kucinich will come under furious attack by the White House, the Republican Party, the Corporate Media, and even Bush Democrats. So let's inundate Congress with emails and calls (202-224-3121) showing our full support for Rep. Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment:

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your constant support throughout this long and historic struggle.

Two years ago, i wrote against the first May Day Walkout of 2006. I wrote about the importance about staying in school and becoming educated, and taking proactive measures for immigration reform.
Walking out onto streets, sure, it's a show, but even I get annoyed by protesters.
This year, only 15% of hispanics are voting. 15% ! What is wrong with this picture?

So many Latinos complain about the government and only 15% vote.
This is a sad statistic. It's like almost saying "You don't vote, you deserve it."
I did my part and will continue to do my part, but I can only do so much, the other 85% need to step up to the plate.
Tomorrow, MoveOn members are making sure people in Ventura know John McCain is just like George Bush.
The Bush-McCain Challenge works like the old Pepsi-Coke Challenge—we'll ask passersby to guess whether a quote or position is Bush's or McCain's. It'll be lots of fun.
Can you make it? Click to RSVP:

This is, of course, the message of the Clinton campaign. Hope doesn't pay for $3/gallon gas, hope doesn't pay for medical bills, hope doesn't pay overdue mortgages, hope doesn't fill the prescriptions at the drug store, hope doesn't pay.
Bill Clinton restated this again at a campaign stop where he appealed to supporters for -- you guessed it -- hope. Hope that supporters would vote and attend the caucus Tuesday night, hope that Hillary could hold onto her candidacy via the Alamo, hope that her message would resonate with voters. This, from the man who came from the "town called Hope".
How sad that ambition springs so eternal that the Clinton campaign would be nothing more than a massive effort to tell voters in this nation that the status quo is all that matters, hope is dead, and screw all the people sacrificing time, effort, money and talent to get that hope message heard, because what really matters is 'experience'.
