Thanks to all, what a group, what a day, what an inspirational start to the next administration.

THE BIGGEST OBAMA EVENT YET! NEIGHBORHOOD WALK FOR BARACK
We have a GOTV event scheduled for this coming Saturday, October 25th, 2008 that can’t be missed by all you great volunteers out there! Here's the general idea:
If you'd like to support our Neighborhood Walk for Barack, come on down to our HQ at 505 Canal St. in New Smyrna Beach and we'll sign you up for your area and let you know where you can help.
Time is short so see us soon!
YES WE WILL!!
This is a message sent to me from WonderlandPR and I thought you might like to see it:
Barack Obama, beyond the rare repertoire of roaring rhetoric and retort, beyond the sweeping scope of policy and polemics, there is a man, who, once upon a time was a boy, raised by Toot and her husband, Barack's maternal grandparents.
Now, Toot, Mrs. Dunham, is in need of the man we all have entrusted to guide our American family into its precarious future, as she lies in precarious health.
From his departure from the critical campaign, we who have worked for and with Barack for all these months, know that very little can stop Barack.
Do you remember him being sick and off the trail? No. Do you remember the times he had to leave the campaign to tend to a daughters' crisis? No. Did you ever see him explode in anger or breakdown in frustration? No.
Now this.
So we know that Barack's humanity, his very humannessm is being called by the call to return to Hawaii and Toot.
I must admit I have prayed for an intervention to give Barack some respite from the slings and arrows of the last weeks of the nasty campaign by McCain en company, but I did not pray for this.
God works in mysterious ways. Perhaps this is an answered prayer.
I hope you might join me in wishing Barack Godspeed to Toot's side and that he is restored in his pending sorrow by the loving supporters that so many of us have become.
We ARE all in this together. Never have those words been more true.
Please let's make an effort to fill the crater of space that Barack leaves as he leaves to be with Toot before they must leave each other for all times.
And, if anyone sees or hears Palin or McCain grinding Barack down while Obama tends to the call that comes to us all, PLEASE FIGHT THE SMEARS AND MAKE THEM WISH THEY HAD NEVER OPENED THEIR MOUTHS AT A TIME LIKE THIS.
We all owe Toot our honoring prayers, as she vitally helped shape the man who, if we work our butts off, will be our next President. As Barack has said, she poured everything she had into him, and now we pour our hearts out for them both.
All right NewSmyrnaforObama, I have 2 of the 'original' plastic yard signs left.
Since we can't get these originals anymore, it's time for a Barack auction!
Here's the plan:
1. Go to our New Smyrna for Obama group donation page: http://my.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/maingroup/newsmyrnaforobama and make a donation. Be sure to use the 'Donation' button below the 'Thermometer' or I won't get a notice from the Obama campaign of your donation.
2. When i get confirmation from the Obama campaign of the donation, the 2 highest 'donators' will get the signs.
3. The 'donation' period will end after the Friday Watch Party at Pat and Grey's: http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/gsxrzq#rsvp (they have a computer so you can do it there at the last minute if you must).
4. I'll notify the winners on Saturday, 9-27-08.
5. The 'winners' will have to pick up the signs at the Canal street HQ on or after Saturday, 9-27-08.
Let's do it for Barack!
YES WE CAN!!
All New Smyrna'ians, come on out and show your support for Barack!
We have a Debate watch party scheduled for this friday to enjoy the debate and meet a bunch of great Obama people and hosted by some super Barack fans.
Here's the link to the event signup: http://my.barackobama.com/page/group/newsmyrnaforobama
Stood in line today for almost 3 hours and then found out that the tickets were gone. There had to be at least 300 folks left standing. I am sure they are as disappointed as we are that the tickets ran out. It was a 'first come, first served' arrangement. However, the people we met while waiting were a pleasure to meet. Obama people. It was so encouraging to see hundreds of Senator Obama's supporters. Their stories, their lives, their hopes and dreams. What a pleasure.
So, if anyone out there has tickets for tomorrow, and for some reason can't use them...please let me know. I will be forever grateful.
Please call 386-682-2642 and ask for Rachel or Winston
Kurt and the army of Obama Volunteers got it done last weekend! Here's Kurt's note:
It looks like her lack of vetting is starting to catch up with Republicans. She's looking a bit like a female GW Bush. The President has often shown how inadequate his general education has been. His thinking that Africa is a nation. His surprise at there being blacks in Brasil. And many more.
Now Palin is beginning a collection of her own.
We first learned that not more than a month before she was nominated, she didn't know what a VP does. That's a bit disturbing, though solvable. Now we heard that she believes that the Pledge of Allegiance, including the "under God" addition, was written by our forefathers:
11. Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.
This was her answer to a questionaire by Eagle Forums Alaska, a right wing group from her state. The original blog entry was removed from their site. But it can still be accessed using Google's Cache.
She is probably undergoing some very heavy coaching right this minute. But I'd be we will see many more gaffes as electoral pressure builds up.
I truly believe this country is more than ready for a "change". The Obama/Biden ticket is the best we have seen in years.
I don't see how thinking people with "common" sense (which doesn't seem to be so common anymore!) can say our country and its people are better now than before Bush took office.
Reality is that we have more injured veterans. Reality is jobs have disappeared. Reality is our money doesn't go as far. Reality is inflation hit a long time ago due to the greed of big businesses. Reality is lobbying needs to be stopped. Reality is our government is too big and reaches too far. Reality is our government is run by big business and it needs to stop. REALITY!
Our country is divided by the "have" and "have nots" as the middle class has disappeared. The American dream seems to be disappearing.
The United States needs to police our own country instead of the world. Yes, we need to be and stay aware of what is happening and going on outside our borders but we need to take care of our own first. Charity begins at home. Too many people have been forgotten and pushed to the side and fallen into loopholes.
Aliens, legal or illegal, seem to have more rights than our own citizens do at times. This is not right. This is not how it our forefathers meant it to be.
We should be able to feel safe in our neighborhoods and inside our homes. I believe we have the right to protect ourselves but do not believe individuals should have automatic weapons. There should be a limit.
I believe in the country my father and my husband fought for. I believe change must happen, can happen, one person at a time.
If you stand by and watch something bad happen and do nothing to stop it you are part of it. Each person can and will make a difference. You have to try. You have to act. If not physically, do so with your voice, your actions. Sometimes and most times, silence and idleness speak louder. We want change? We have to act, take part, let our voices be heard, work for it, do something positive, pay it forward....
My grandmother had a saying that I will never forget:
It takes more than having the seeds. You have to plant the seeds. You have to nurish the seeds. You must tend to the plants. You must harvest the plants. You must then harvest the seeds to have another season.......
Without effort there is no action, there is no change!
The polls are reporting about 27% of Hillary supporters who say that they will now vote for McCain. I would submit that these fall into 4 categories.
2- Those who were never Democrats in the first place. For example, those used by Rush in his attempt at electoral fraud.
3- Independents who are clueless about political facts.
4- Those who are still living in the primaries.
There is nothing we can do about groups 1 and 2. They never had any intention of voting for Obama, and never will.
As for group 3, McCain has been drowning them in ads full of lies. And every time a lie is exposed, there are 4 more new ones waiting in line. They just throw whatever they can come up with hoping that some of it sticks. We just have to hammer them with facts. And point out that there is no "sitting this one out We should encourage those who like the way things are going to vote for McCain.
Group 4 is a bit more complex. I think that most of these simply don't have enough information about Obama yet. If they understand that the issue is not Hillary, but the economy, the war, energy independence, healthcare, women's rights, etc. they will come around. But right now its just "comfortable" to say to the pollster on the phone that they are voting for McCain just to "get even". All of them will look at the issues, look at Obama's proposals, and they will choose wisely.
The rest in this group are people who will just absorb the swiftboating campaign. They have made up their minds to become Republicans. Let's face it: they are probably lost forever. So we need to substitute them. And there are huge numbers of young voters who have registered in record numbers. They don't show up in the polls you see on TV, because traditionally they don't vote. What we need to do is to get them to the voting booths.
It's official, Barack sent out the email this morning, did you get it?

From the Obama Action Wire:
Yesterday, you learned about the right-wing's latest attack: extremist Jerome Corsi and his book of the same old smears and lies.Today, you can take the next step.Tackle this smear campaign head on. The Obama research team released a 41-page rebuttal called "Unfit for Publication," refuting Corsi's rehashed distortions point-by-point, leaving no smear unanswered.Arm yourself with the facts and write a letter to your local newspapers telling them to do their job by debunking this kind of garbage. The media are not playing their role as watchdogs. In fact, they are fanning the flames of controversy and legitimizing a discredited political bottom-feeder.Take action now and tell the media to report the truth, not debunked lies and smears that are unfit for publication:http://my.barackobama.com/unfit4publicationThe right-wing smear machine is in full force -- blasting out Corsi's stale fabrications far and wide to a media that's so far been eager to pick them up. In just three days, Corsi's made front page news in both the New York Times and Washington Post. We've posted the full truth online so you have the tools to fight back in your community and local papers. Can you write a letter to the editor exposing Jerome Corsi and his book for what they really are -- another hack job by a desperate right-wing fabricator? In 2004, Corsi helped launch the Swift Boat smear campaign with a book of distortions and lies he wrote about John Kerry. This time we won't be Swift Boated.Keep up the good fight,
I have been following some of the events in the area of Russia and Georgia.
At this stage many Americans seem to believe that we should unconditionally back Georgia. However, if what is being said about Georgia launching attacks on South Ossetia in the middle of the night is true, and that they indiscrimately bombed civilian targets; we should withhold our unbridled support. There may be some behind the scenes action that need to be addressed. Does it seem strange, to anyone other than myself, that the President of Georgia regularly calls into U.S. news media outlets? He calls our media! Ordinarilly, journalists have to try to contact sitting heads of state; but he contacts U.S. news media personally. I think it is strange. This guy appears to be campaigning for someone.
The international press is saying that the military activity in South Ossetia was an attempt by Bush-Cheney to aid McCain whose only strong suite is war. ( http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/08/15/mccain-rises-to-abbas-defense/ )
I hope Senator Obama does not take the bait. He would be wise to determine who is zoomin' who before he weighs-in too heavily on this highly orchestrated drama.
HERE'S HOW YOU DO IT, IT'S EASY!!
Choose your candidate for VP by selecting the pennies amount, listed below, associated with your candidate.
Go to our donation page: http://my.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/maingroup/newsmyrnaforobama and make your donation in the correct pennies amount (the dollar amount is to be selected by you but please, not less than $1.xx , e.g. McCaskill = $5.06 donation)
BE SURE TO SCROLL DOWN TO OUR GROUP'S 'DONATION THERMOMETER' to donate (do not use the top of page donation button since i won't get a copy 'thank you' note from the Obama Campaign to know who you voted for).
The candidates for VP are listed in the order they were suggested in the 'Let's Start Thinking VP' and 'VP SELECTION BLOG' posts.

For some difinative pros and cons of the various candidates, see the extended post text below:
I couldn't have said it better myself..
Wimpy McMummy and his merry staff, can't talk straight on the Crooked talk express.
They have resorted and stuck to crying like kids when they don't get any attention.
The tantrums and hissy fits are so immature.
Everytime McShame makes a Gaffe, the GOP goes into spin mode to quickly turn it around and Blame the other guy for something.
McShame is running the worse possible attempt at a campaign since Bush.
McGaffe has resorted to giving who will ever listen with fragile minds, a take on what could be your fears of hate, put a face on it, that is not his.
The Smear campaign he promised he WOULD NOT do by running a self prclaimed CLEAN CAMPAIGN was truly his way of saying, I'll LIE, CHEAT, DISTORT, MISLEAD AND KEEP LYING to get into the WH.
He really thinks that this is what Americans wants to see from a REPUBLICAN after ALL the LIES, CHEATS, DISTORTIONS, MISLEADS AND MORE LIES that comes from BUSH.
I just want to thank McBush for coming back to Gaffe highway and reality..
We Democrats, Inpendents, some Republicans and other organizations formed with US, are ready to pounce, once the REAL DEAL begins..
Thank you McBUSH for all the silly ads you are using. How does that person still have a job is beyond me.
McBush couldn't wait for Obama to leave the Country to go on the dumbfounded Attack.
The ads have been the worse attempts at a Real Candidate I've ever seen. lol!!
I really get a kick out of them.. I can't believe someone really thinks these dumb ads up!!
Obama blamed for the Gas hikes was so funny I had to run it over and over with comical astonishment and amazement.
If I was a normal everyday Republican, would I think this to be true?
That's scary!!
I was like " Boy what moron allowed this to run" Then I thought, is someone out there in the US really going to think this could possibly be true? Then I thought, do they think someone will really believe this? To me they're calling people dumb. The ads are truly insulting to even the most staunch Republicans and conservatives.
I've recently talk to people whom say they are conservatives.
They told me, they don't like the guy(McShame) and wish the GOP picked someone else to run for POTUS.
I had to ask them this one, lol!! How do you really feal about his many recents Gaffes?
They all told me with a smile, "He is Bush in a smaller frame" or "We didn't pick him, "We picked Huccabee or Romney". Then I ask them this, " Are you going to still vote for him?"
All 10 of them laughed out loud and said, are you serious? I smiled and said " Is that a NO?" Almost in sequence "Hell to the NO?" " Hell no" " You must be crazy" "We will be back in 8 years" "That guy gots to retire from Politics" "He is making a fool of himself at our expense?
I said, " Do you think it's his age?
All 10 of them said, "YES" "He needs to retire and relax, He's 72, 65 is retirement age right" "He's Rich, why is he out there doing this to himself?" They told me "Republicans they've all talk to, have said the same thing". I am now tickled laughing inside..
One of the guys said "His time has passed" "We need new blood" "Bush hurt the Republican Brand name for years to come"
I almost coudn't contain my laughter, So I had to let it go.. Baaawaaaaaa!!
I asked them? " What do you think about Obama?" They all told me " I hope he is what he says he is" " I think he is sincere" "He's is a smart guy from what I read" "I think he will be a ok President" "He's speech's are great and I listen to them cause of my wife and kids." "They like him a lot" "Dude what is up with the Crowds for him" " They are going crazy for him"
I asked" What do you think about his Words of Change and what he will do for America? I can't repeat them all, let just say, they where positive.
So you know I had to smile my Native American Butt off, lol!!
Then I got real bold, lol and asked, "Why not vote for Obama this year to give yourself a part of History to tell your kids?" 8 of them mostly stated that, "They are thinking or thought about it, since it would be cool to say that they Voted for the 1st Black President even though they don't see eye to eye" The others all agreed.
The other two said that "People at their employment are pressuring them to be a independent thinkers and to think about what is best for the Country, not just what the Government needs"
So I had to buy 10 Cops two rounds of drinks after my grilling. One ask me if I had any Obama buttons?
I went to my car and took out the 4 I had. I said that will be $2. I sold all 4 to the Cops. 3 of them put them on right there. The other guy said, "I will give this to my wife, maybe I'll get lucky tonight"..
lol!!
