Oklahoma.CAN is the Oklahoma Statewide MyBO Community Action Network Group. We are organizing .CAN Groups in all of our 77 Counties in Oklahoma. Further, each MyBO Group in Oklahoma is welcome to join us, and elect two representatives - one voting delegate, and one alternate. The Membership of our Oklahoma.CAN Group is responsible to create and organize all their "CountyName".Oklahoma.CAN Groups, and call each County Community Action Network Group to meet once each month, according to our two year national schedule. The first two year national schedule is posted below in our Group Blog. See California.CAN as an example of a State organized into county groups. Every County.Oklahoma.CAN Group will host a Quarterly Meeting of all MyBO Members who wish to participate. Our County.Oklahoma.CAN Groups welcome participation from all MyBO Group Members in that Quarterly Meeting in their County. We are a cooperative umbrella set of groups now organizing across all 3,071 Counties in America, and we do not compete with each other. Rather, we strive to work with all local MyBO Groups to coordinate our "Organizing for America" to implement our Blueprint for Change, at our Local City and County Levels of Government, as well as within our Great State of Oklahoma. Oklahoma.CAN will meet in Assembly twice a year at Oklahoma City, our State Capitol: Once in January and once in June in advance of the National USA.CAN Citizens Congress, which we call to assembly in Washington DC once each year. Each CountyName.Oklahoma.CAN Group shall elect their Delegates to our Oklahoma.CAN State and National USA.CAN Groups to join in actions agreed to by each Group's membership. Every State and County Group in our American Network shall remain both autonomous and fully self supporting.

New Obama Poster for Inauguration By Katharine Q. Seelye The Caucus | A New York Times Blog January 8, 2009, 11:36 am http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/01/08/new-obama-poster-for-inauguration If anyone is realizing the marketing potential of Barack Obama, it is Mr. Obama’s marketers themselves. After all, Advertising Age, the bible of Madison Avenue, named the Obama campaign "Marketer of the Year" last fall, citing in particular its ability to brand itself. Obama beat out marketing heavyweights like Apple, Nike and Coors. And that was before he got elected. Mr. Obama’s inaugural committee is now marketing a new version of the iconic "Hope" poster that became a phenomenon during the campaign and helped brand the candidate, certainly in the minds of the young. The new poster was created by Shepard Fairey, the California street artist who created the original image. He designed this one specifically for the inauguration. "Be The Change," the poster instructs. It takes the now-familiar red and blue image of Mr. Obama and sets it against a backdrop of the Capitol and the White House.
If you [or anyone else you know in Oklahoma] is interested in going to Missouri this weekend to volunteer in one of their many Obama HQs, be sure to let them know of the car-pools meeting on Saturday 25-Oct-08 at 7:30 am in Oklahoma City and joining up at 10 am in Tulsa.
FIRED UP, AND READY TO GO TO MISSOURI! (Drive for Change)

Team, I know that some of you would like to travel in carpools to Joplin, Missouri to assist in turning the tide in a very competitive battleground state for Barack Obama. That is why I’m asking you all to please meet-up together in the rear parking lot at the Oklahoma Democratic Headquarters at 4100 N. Lincoln BLVD., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma no later than 7:30AM on Saturday 10/25/2008. I will be there to give you a nice little send off. You should be able to park your vehicles there and proceed in your carpools to Joplin, Missouri. Please make sure the doors of your vehicle are locked and secure. The Oklahoma Democratic Party, entities in residents in the building, or individuals are not responsible for the security of your vehicle. I do know that a group out of Tulsa will be leaving at 10AM. Please refer to the links below, and reserve your time so that we will have a good idea who all will be coming. This is a wonderful time for all of us, and I personally like to thank you all for the time and support that you have put forth on this and all efforts toward getting Barack elected President. I can honestly say that this has become one of the happiest times of my 38 years, and your energy has kept me going. Thank you all for what you do.

Some Tulsa-area volunteers plan to go to Joplin, Missouri, to campaign in that battle-ground state for Barack Obama [BO]. A car-pool leaves from Oklahoma City about 8 am and joins with us about 10 am on Saturday 25-Oct-08 at the Tulsa County Democratic Party HQ, 3930 East 31st; please park across the street or BEHIND the HQ. Some may return that night and others may stay over-night in free housing provided by the Obama HQ in Joplin and return late on Sunday 26-Oct-08. Tulsa volunteer Jack Francis has offered to drive and even pay for gas and tolls for the first 4 firm over-night volunteers that make commitments to go. Future road trips with the same details will leave Tulsa for Joplin every Saturday until the general election: November 1. This webpage can also be viewed at tinyurl.com/mofobo3

The Great Schlep aims to have Jewish grandchildren visit their grandparents in Florida, educate them about Obama, and therefore swing the crucial Florida vote in his favor. Don’t have grandparents in Florida? Not Jewish? No problem! You can still become a schlepper and make change happen in 2008, simply by talking to your relatives about Obama.

# When is the The Great Schlep?
Columbus Day weekend from October 10–13, 2008.

Over a hundred people came together to watch history unfold in Tulsa, OK. Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention was the magnet that brought young and old, seasoned voters and first time voters, regardless of race or political affiliation together. Most of the people who came to watch hadn't met before, but you wouldn't know it by looking, as they all seemed to be well acquainted. People shared their passion for change over food and drinks, laughter and the occasional tear. Most people left with some sort of Obama gear, eager to proudly promote their candidate. In a state that traditionally votes Republican, there are almost no visible signs of a sure win for McCain in the city of Tulsa. Tulsans for Obama believe they are the change they've been waiting for, and now is the time to turn the tides in our state and our country.
The Oklabama online store has moved to Cafe Press in order to make it easier to have the majority of proceeds go straight to the Obama campaign!

**MAJORITY OF PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY TO OBAMA CAMPAIGN**
I'm sure you've seen a lot of negative smears and lies about Obama on the internet and other media outlets. Let's work together to overwhelm these lies with truth and drown out the divisions with HOPE!
People all over the country are writing one blog post per week about Obama for the next 10 weeks. We have 55+ bloggers in 25 states, but we're missing OKLAHOMA!!We want to include bloggers in all 50 states, so we can't do it without you!!
It would be great to get people who live in so-called "red states" involved with this project, since you may be most in need of Operation HOPE!.
If you're new to blogging, I can get you set up with you own blog in less than 5 minutes! so why not? Join Operation HOPE! One of the greatest things about Obama's campaign is the way that people whose voices have previously been silent are listened to and respected. Lots of folks have set up their first blog just to participate in this event, so we'd love to have you!!
If you are already an active blogger, it doesn't take any extra effort. and your blog will probably get more traffic, since I'll be linking all the bloggers and promoting the event.
Please check out the event details and sign up if you're interested in blogging for Obama: http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/444wt I am coordinating the bloggers (with an interactive map and links to all the active bloggers doing 10 posts in 10 weeks) on my "Crush on Obama" blog at: http://rubycrushonobama.blogspot.com Hope to see you in the blogosphere! -Ruby
Does anyone else remember the name first given to the Iraq War?
Think back to a time when our Presidiot told us that he was going to initiate "Operation Iraqi Freedom". What a context that name gave to the idea of bombing the hell out of a country, invading it, overthrowing their government, demolishing their economy, and then killing those who opposed us. This administration has maintained its grip over the Name Game for far too long.
Did you know that there has recently been a troop escalation in Iraq? At this current time, there are MORE troops in Iraq than there were when we first invaded, even though this administration claimed that there would be considerably less after they initiated what they called a "Surge". Sadly, the Bush administration won this Name Game as well.
It is time for us all to finally take a stand against this ignorant and useless war. Our government must be reminded that they answer to the people, and that we can always punish them for not doing so. I ask of you to do at least one of the two following things (maybe even both!):
1. Write your senators and representatives. Tell them that you will no longer sit by and watch your tax dollars be washed down a drain in order to pay for a war that you were fooled into supporting. Tell your friends to write them as well. Tell your parents to write them. Tell your children to write them. Let's make it known that we won't sit idly by and watch our country become a bigger target for terrorists than it was in the immediate aftermath of that fateful day.
2. In November, vote for those individuals who will take a stand for you. Encourage those individuals to look past political gains and losses to the real issue: serving their country. Whether Democrat or Republican, support those individuals who will not allow this awful war to wage on.
Thanks, and good luck!
The New Yorker described Barry Blitt's work as lampooning of "scare tactics and misinformation in the Presidential election to derail Barack Obama's campaign.""The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Senator Obama's right-wing critics have tried to create," Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton said."But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree," Burton added.
I think the idea that the Obamas are branded as unpatriotic [let alone as terrorists] in certain sectors is preposterous. It seemed to me that depicting the concept would show it as the fear-mongering ridiculousness that it is.
I've invited bloggers to commit to writing one post per week about Obama for the next 10 weeks. This will take us through the convention in Denver. Our guidelines are simply that the posts are positive and honest. The movement is building: already 25+ bloggers signed up, so that's at least 250 posts over the next 10 weeks, and more folks sign on everyday!
It would be great to get folks who live in so-called "red states" involved with this project, since you may be most in need of Operation HOPE!. I'm hoping to have bloggers from every single stats in the United States... so I'm reaching out to the "red" states first!

Hello Oklahomans!
Barack is our party's nominee for President and it's time to bring the country together behind him! As you know, the Obama campaign is all about supporters taking individual initiative to push our movement forward. On June 28 we are asking Obama supporters across the country to organize "Unite for Change" house parties to bring their uncommitted friends and colleagues together for Obama.
I am an intern at the Obama campaign headquarters in Chicago and I have been asked to help Obama supporters in Oklahoma organize Unite for Change house parties. I am including some information about how to organize your party at the end of this post. If you have any other questions, please e-mail me at mybarackobama@barackobama.com, using the subject line "Oklahoma Unite for Change"
Oklahoma, yes we can!
Mary
Here's the information about how to organize a house party:

Whether we are Democrats, Independents or Republicans, we are Americans first and we need to come together at this critical juncture to solve our country's toughest challenges.Thank you again for your leadership and commitment. We couldn't do this without you!
300 Million Silos: Examining the Soul of America
There is a saying, “if you don’t where you are going, then any road will take you there;” and a similar saying, “if you don’t know where you are going, than you’re likely to end up someplace else.” I mention this to illustrate that we, the United States, don’t know where we are going. The vessel which is America, has yet to chart a course. The soul of our country is adrift. At times we happen along beautiful shores, or catch a fleeting glimpse of our mothers’ bounty; but with each sunset, it becomes just as likely that we will run aground. No true north, no navigational charts and no crow’s nest. We hoist our sails, we swab our deck, we swill our rum, and we fire our cannons, but we drift further and further from an unknown port. America, the beautiful, is somewhere lost at sea.
So how do we develop a soul for our country?
We ask ourselves:
What do we believe?
How should we treat one another?
What kind of nation do we want to be?
What kind of nation do we need to be?
How do we want to be viewed by our neighbors of the world?
Why is this important?
Because, we have not found our soul. As Sen. Obama speaks so eloquently, we have lost our empathy; not only do we not see ourselves in others, but we do not see ourselves. We are so busy living; we have failed to examine the reason for which we live.
