Today is a sad day for many of us, but as a very good friend told me, we must go on. For them, for us and we have. But we still remember, so what do we do? The answer is to make the United States a better place to raise our children, to show them the gift of giving. President Obama has made this day a National Day of Service and we citizens should answer that call. How should it be answered? You help a disabled veteran or make a call to a friend personally affected by 9/11 or the war in Iraq or Afghanistan. Give blood or give a homeless person a meal. You help your neighbors who have lost their jobs and ask "How can I help you?". You pay it forward and the best part is how you can answer that call is up to you. The only requirement is you don't expect anything from it or even a thank you (you'll probably get it, but that's not the point) You do it from your heart and it will feed the spirit of the country. Ok, we all have something to do for someone else today. Let's get to it.
And one more thing, I have a gift who was born this day in 2006. Happy Birthday Tinkerbell Diva, my baby girl is three! I'm quite proud of her, she has a lot of spirit and that's a great thing.

I signed up and recently attended my first meeting for the Obama campaign. I had no idea what to expect and I was really surprised by the amount at the meeting. I expected 20 or 30 people and there must have been more than 200 people at our South West Las Vegas organizing event. It was amazing to see all of the energized people from every walk of life there to support Barack.
Concerned about joining an event to meet other supporters like yourself? Don't be, I was on the fence and I feel like a fool for worrying about how I'd be received. There are no elitists at these meetings and events, you'll learn one of the most important campaigning principals in the Obama campaign is respect.
Organizing events are just one of many things you can do. There will be house parties in your district, these are perfect places to meet people and get involved in the campaign. I for one am very excited about volunteering for the campaign. I hope that some one that might be reading this that is on the fence about getting involved changes there mind and gets involved. There is so much work to be done to win this election and we need your help!

Obama's intelligence, ability to inspire make him natural choice for nomination Obama will draw on Clinton-era as well as rising economic and foreign policy professionals. He will consider a circle of professionals that is wider than the pool that Clinton or Edwards would use, including some independents and Republicans who dissented from current policies. Combined with his evident intelligence and ability to inspire, this leaves me very optimistic about an Obama administration.

Obama the best candidateUntil recently I have never been politically active. When I saw Barack Obama speak in Elko I realized that he is the embodiment of what politics should and can be. Honesty, integrity and a sincere desire to change our world to the benefit of all, is the message of his campaign. Since then, in working with the Obama supporters I have found that in Elko and the surrounding areas, people from all walks of life have chosen to donate their time and efforts to support a candidate that is believable and inspiring. In our area mining, ranching and the rights of American Indians are important aspects of the Obama campaign. Although Sen. Obama is not of the West, he has taken time to understand the issues that are so important to us.

Obama thrills Carson audienceWhile cheers of "Obama" never got off the ground throughout the capacity crowd, people danced in their seats, cheered wildly and successfully circulated a wave throughout the audience several times before the U.S. senator from Illinois appeared. The standing-room-only crowd of about 1,400 filled the main gymnasium of the community center, an additional 800 piled into an adjoining auditorium, and more than 100 people were kept outside when the center was deemed full.

Obama pumps up a Fallon crowdA visit by Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. resembled a rock concert just as much as a campaign speech Monday afternoon in Fallon. The crowd was loud, excited and ready for the presidential candidate even before he entered the room. The Churchill County Junior High School gymnasium was packed with more than 1,000 people ready to see and hear Obama's plans for America if elected president in November.

This morning in Reno, Barack sat down with four local residents to talk about the mortgage crisis in America that has hit Nevada particularly hard. Most of the conversation revolved around economic issues, but Barack’s decision to not accept money from federal lobbyists or PAC’s was particularly important to the participants, because in order to Reclaim the American Dream, we must take back Washington from the political insiders and special interest groups that have too much influence over our government
One of the participants, Patty (on the right with red hair), is a real estate consultant, and she has seen firsthand how people are losing their homes left and right. She is no longer making enough money from her job, and she had to unfortunately take a second job helping banks foreclose on houses. Patty strongly believes that the American dream is that if you want a house, you should be able to have one—and she was particularly concerned by the downward trends in home ownership in Northern Nevada.
Alex, another participant, is a divorced father with seven kids who rents a trailer. Alex said he feels ashamed and angry that he can't offer his children a real home, and he feels that the American Dream is out of reach for too many people in similar situations.
Sitting to the right of Barack was Skye, who wants more education for new home buyers, because of the predatory mortgage practices. Her husband is a Reno police officer who was injured, but went back to work. He was then diagnosed with cancer and had to continue working—but got injured again. Now they are behind on their mortgage payments, without anyone to turn to. A car loan company offered to work with their situation, but their mortgage payments were not met with equal understanding. Their home is also now valued at less than what they bought it for, making it more and more difficult to plan for the future.
One of the most alarming stories came from Tamishia, sitting in the front on the left. Tamishia bought her home with no money down, at her "stated" income (she was a dealer at a casino- so her income varies a great deal). She ended up having to work two jobs to keep up with her payments, but after deciding to switch careers, she couldn't make payments anymore. Her loan ended up being passed from company to company before she tried a loan re-modification. During this process, her home was sold to an investment company without her knowledge, who then foreclosed and forced her to move out. She is currently having trouble finding an apartment because of her bad credit.
Barack is a vocal critic of these types of deceitful practices, and introduced a bill in the Senate over a year ago called the “Stop Fraud Act.” Barack is committed to tackling these complex issues that have been ignored for far too long.
Barack spoke clearly that the times have changed, and mortgage and lending laws have not followed suit. He also spoke at length about the lack of incentive for companies to give good advice, because it’s not banks that carry the loans, but rather investment companies. Nothing happens to them if the home forecloses, because the investment company has just picked another property. Barack also feels strongly that lenders should be able to negotiate directly with home buyers and owners, and that right now; the government’s role should be focused around stabilization of the market.
Read about Barack’s plan for Protecting Homeownership and Cracking Down on Mortgage Fraud.
Barack also feels strongly that everyone should be able to have a say in their government—which is why he regularly participates in roundtable discussions. In case you have a personal insight or idea, you can submit your own ideas here!

We have tons of events coming up in Nevada as we prepare for the caucus this coming weekend, and we need everyone to get involved.
Tonight at 6 pm… Pahrump Stand for Change Town Hall
Tomorrow: Three Events… Three Cities… One Day
Carson City Stand for Change Town Hall with Barack Obama
Meet the Candidate with Barack Obama in Fallon
Reno Stand for Change Rally with Barack Obama
Get involved, we will be working for change all week.
Today all across Nevada, thousands of volunteers, precinct captains, and staffers will fan out through neighborhoods to talk about Barack and his message of hope and change. Our supporters are also being joined by members of the Culinary Union and the SEIU, who recently endorsed Barack. The momentum here in Nevada has made the phrase, “Yes We Can,” a staple for our supporters. Some might call us hopemongers—but we wear that label as a badge of honor.
Our organization in Nevada is working overtime with an overwhelming number of volunteers who have been captivated by the excitement and energy around our offices and at our events. The strength of our ground game is unmatched, and we have even been forced to expand our North Las Vegas offices to include a second, even larger suite.

One week until we caucus. One week until we stand up for change.
I have never seen this many people waiting for a Barack Obama rally in Las Vegas. There were so many people that the fire marshal had to stop letting people in.
Never fear—Barack held a makeshift rally on top of a picnic table right outside the gymnasium! According to Barack and staffers, there were nearly 2,000 people outside that couldn’t make it into the packed auditorium- but you sure couldn’t tell that they never made it to the rally! These people are FIRED UP down here in the Silver State. And from the sound of it, they can’t wait for next Saturday for the opportunity to caucus for him.
The event is about to start now and the Governor from Arizona Janet Napolitano, who just endorsed Barack this morning--- is introducing him.
Things are heating up in Nevada. Barack is in town.
