President Bush's approval rating has a new low, according to an Associated Press poll.
Get this - 40 percent of Republicans do not approve of Bush's overall job. Can it be that almost half the Republican party disapproves of their leader?
Public approval of President Bush? 28%! (Huffington Post story here).
Does President Bush's pat on the back help John McCain?
What do you think?

I have now actually listened to the sermon Rev. Wright gave after September 11 titled, “The Day of Jerusalem’s Fall.” It was delivered on Sept. 16, 2001.
He was quoting Peck as saying that America’s foreign policy has put the nation in peril:
“I heard Ambassador Peck on an interview yesterday did anybody else see or hear him? He was on FOX News, this is a white man, and he was upsetting the FOX News commentators to no end, he pointed out, a white man, an ambassador, he pointed out that what Malcolm X said when he was silenced by Elijah Mohammad was in fact true, he said Americas chickens, are coming home to roost.”“We took this country by terror away from the Sioux, the Apache, Arikara, the Comanche, the Arapaho, the Navajo. Terrorism.“We took Africans away from their country to build our way of ease and kept them enslaved and living in fear. Terrorism.“We bombed Grenada and killed innocent civilians, babies, non-military personnel.“We bombed the black civilian community of Panama with stealth bombers and killed unarmed teenage and toddlers, pregnant mothers and hard working fathers.“We bombed Qaddafi’s home, and killed his child. Blessed are they who bash your children’s head against the rock.“We bombed Iraq. We killed unarmed civilians trying to make a living. We bombed a plant in Sudan to pay back for the attack on our embassy, killed hundreds of hard working people, mothers and fathers who left home to go that day not knowing that they’d never get back home.“We bombed Hiroshima. We bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon and we never batted an eye.“Kids playing in the playground. Mothers picking up children after school. Civilians, not soldiers, people just trying to make it day by day.“We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff that we have done overseas is now brought right back into our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.“Violence begets violence. Hatred begets hatred. And terrorism begets terrorism. A white ambassador said that y’all, not a black militant. Not a reverend who preaches about racism. An ambassador whose eyes are wide open and who is trying to get us to wake up and move away from this dangerous precipice upon which we are now poised. The ambassador said the people we have wounded don’t have the military capability we have. But they do have individuals who are willing to die and take thousands with them. And we need to come to grips with that.”He went on to describe seeing the photos of the aftermath of 9/11 because he was in Newark, N.J., when the planes struck. After turning on the TV and seeing the second plane slam into one of the twin towers, he spoke passionately about what if you never got a chance to say hello to your family again.“What is the state of your family?” he asked. And then he told his congregation that he loved them and asked the church to tell each other they loved themselves. His sermon thesis:1. This is a time for self-examination of ourselves and our families.2. This is a time for social transformation (then he went on to say they won’t put me on PBS or national cable for what I’m about to say. Talk about prophetic!)“We have got to change the way we have been doing things as a society,” he said.Wright then said we can’t stop messing over people and thinking they can’t touch us. He said we may need to declare war on racism, injustice, and greed, instead of war on other countries.

I watched today's endorsement of Barack Obama by Governor Bill Richardson, and was once again impressed by the intelligence and vision of the man. If he was Barack's choice for VP, they would be an unbeatable team.
And possibly the best thing to ever happen to this country.
Strike that -- without a doubt the best thing that could ever happen to this country.

The past week has been quite an emotional rollercoaster for us here in Camp O, right?
The endless loop of Rev. Wright's disturbing sermon as certain forces reveled in the opportunity to create a distorted view of Obama. The hope that this is not the end of our dream. The high of Obama's speech, so astonishing in it's honesty. A speech that regardless of how it impacts the election has planted the seeds for change in America. The secret fear that America may not be ready for brilliance, candor and rational thinking. I mean, when is the last time we even had anything close to that?
The frustration of attempts to break the rules in Michigan and Florida mid-game, and then pretend that Obama's the shady one. Are you kidding me? The glimpse of peace, love and understanding from the GOP when Mike Huckabee gave his take on Rev. Wright and chose not to join in on the cynical piling on. The naughty giggle we got out of Tracy Morgan's classic: "Bitch may be the new black, but black is the new president ... bitch." So wrong, yet, so right.
The news of a slip in the polls. The entertainment value of those old White House records which revealed that "ready-on-Day 1 experience" is based on picking floral arrangements and nibbling caviar. The personal realization that if that's all it takes, I can run! (Yippee!) Chris Matthews' bruiser of a boogie with Ellen DeGeneres. Not because it was related to The O, but just because it was so awe-inspiring. The shocking revelations that the presumptive Republican nominee seemingly doesn't know what he's talking about. The comforting knowledge that we can come here for a haven from the insanity. The upliftig watercooler chats with our lifelong Republican friends who suddenly start talking about voting for Obama.
And now the breathtaking news that somebody has been poking around in Obama's passport records. Hmmmmmm. Wonder what that's all about?
Up, down, joy, sorrow, hope and fear. It's so exhausting that election fatigue is setting in. Don't you just wanna just tune out for a while? I do. But I won't. We won't. We give a few extra dollars, make a few more calls, write a few more posts, talk to a few more friends, say a few more prayers and hum a few more bars of "Yes, We Can!"
I remember attending a christening for a close friend years ago at a black church. At one point, in the sermon the minister made a disparaging, racial remark that stuck in my craw. I know the friend whose child was being christened did not support that kind of thinking at all. I don't think there is a place for that kind of talk in the pulpit. And I'm not big on bringing politics into religion.
Let's face it, Rev. Wright's inflammatory sermon caused a problem for Obama's campaign. The harsh reality is that every president is vulnerable to perceived guilt-by-association with unsavory characters because every person contends with the same burden at one time or another. Fortunately, nobody cares about that uncle we don't discuss (you know the one) because we are private citizens.
Obama, however, exhibited impressive grace under pressure. He responded quickly and in an intelligent and dignified manner. I respect his thoughtfulness and the way he doesn't go for the shallow sound bite. Rev. Wright's comments raised serious questions and I applaud Obama for delivering serious answers.
While Wright's words provided a chance for opportunists to try to sully Obama's campaign and push their own agenda, I hope that there will be focus on the way Obama dealt with this situation. He addressed the issue like an adult, and more than that, like a leader.
It Is Time For Us To Stand And Be Counted. We Need This Rally Accross The Nation. Let's come together and make this happen. Yes We Can!! In the past these type of tactics would have work but it is a new day!! Sign My Petition and Let's get come together and make this happen, quickly. Grassroot people have heart and we can handle opposition!! This is a movement! Yes We Can!
So, after cynically injecting race into a well, race, that is above such trivial distinctions. I see that Obama's opponent has apologized to black voters, such as myself.
Well, guess what? Apology not accepted. It's not sincere. The minions of Obama's opponent are exploiting the ignorant and the uneducated, the fearful folks who see themselves as disenfranchised. That apology was not for black people because the race-baiting foolishness that has ensued was not targeted at black people. It was targeted at whites and other nonblacks in the hopes of sowing the seeds of something ugly. The minions know it. The peope they are shilling for know it. You know it and I know it. Enough already.
Frankly, I think they owe white people a big apology, too. Apparently, they assume that white people will jump at race-baiting. I think the emerging America is a better place than that.
Let's prove it. Let's all be better than that.
I told ya so. Keith Olberman spelled it out like it is. I have been reading responses to Geraldine Ferraro's comments and have been bitterly disappointed at how few people actually found what she said offensive. It's like one of Barack's lead campaign people expressing how if Hillary were a man she would have this locked up already. Now...would that not be sexist..?? Ferraro's comments were racist and she has been saying similar things for almost 15 years already. Pardon my Francaise but if it looks like merde and smells like merde then chances are it is merde. And her "resignation" from the Hillary campaign was poorly handled. First of all she should have been fired by Hillary instead of given the opportunity to scream "i'm a victim of bias" ( a Hillary tactic..) while at the same time giving America the "finger" as she walks out. Some of her supporters have been arguing that there is still free speech in this country and i happen to agree. it's just that some speeches are better left for a KKK rally somewhere in the backwoods of neverland. Yes she has the right to free speech and so have i. I call Geraldine Ferraro a racist. I feel that now all she can do is taint anything she touches...kinda like King Midas but in reverse. Next target: Ed Rendell governor of Pennsylvania and avid Hillary supporter who gives loud voice to the inner redneck stating that some whites in his state are not ready to vote for a black man for president. This is probably true in any state of this union but why give them a forum of such scale..?? Is he trying to tell me that if a Democrat wants to win the White House...a white person has a better chance and therefore i should support Hillary...???? Um...Ed....you are stupid. I wish you would resign as Governor. I'm not calling him a racist...just a coward. How could you not as governor make an honest attempt to help the people of your state see beyond the color of your skin or the sound of your name. No he just looks at the status quo and basically says:"why rock the boat". Coward. I've got some news for you Mr. Rendell. As it stands there is no way in hell that i would ever vote for Hillary should she win the Democratic nomination. I'll vote for Ralph Nader and take my chances with John McCain as right now i feel i have more in common with him than i do Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Why on earth would i want to vote for someone divisive, angry, dismissive and fear mongering to be President of these United States..?? Someone who dismisses the ideas of hope and change as mere folly and unattainable...?? Message to Barack Obama; Ask Samantha Powers to come back. Ask that Pulitzer prize winning, genius of an Irish immigrant to rejoin your campaign and continue to speak the truth. And as for the rest of you: Please see the Olberman commentary...it's like Viagra for the brain.
