In response to all this health care bat mitten….

What if congress votes immediately into law the 3 most important, and least expensive (virtually free) health care fixes:

1. No denial of health or dental coverage to anyone for any reason.

2. Price limits placed on health & dental plans in a graduated income scale.

3. Do away with deductibles on all basic health and dental plans. Full coverage only plans.

4. Tax designer surgery at a high rate.

PROFIT OUT OF MY HEALTH CARE

As our national highways are the veins that connect this great land, a national universal healthcare plan is the blood of any great nation. We have a national mandate that one must own auto insurance, but no such mandate for the basic human right known as health care.

I for one have had enough of this. It is crippling our great land and turning political cable TV into The Twilight Zone. We need to get on with the business of being a great and ingenious nation. This requires basic needs to be met and kept constant, like HEALTH Lots and Lots of Golds are being made in the health insurance industry. Golds are often the reason for immoral behavior in humans. Health Insurance is just not a morally decent way to make a living. Try selling ice cream or something.

A Way The Congress Can Work Together

Dear Mr President,

If you send congress simple one objective bills, I think you can get them to work together. They can work on one issue at a time and FOCUS their very diverse ideas into one piece of simple and comprehensive legislation at a time. I'd say they could pass a piece of your package with all your objectives met in a week.

For example, you could send them a comprehensive infrastructure only bill etc... in order of priority.

A Series of Focused Stimuli

Dear President Obama,

I think this information is key and timely and I pray that it reaches your ears. In addition to your attempts to reach out to Republicans, part of changing the way we do business in Washington should require taking a series of small bites out of this huge economic problem. Let me ask you; Why do these stimulus packages have to be so huge and broad? Why can't you guys pass one targeted stimulus at a time? A series of stimuli. Here are five to get you started.

Stimulus Number I: Infrastructure

We all know we get a "D" grade for our infrastructure. Let's rebuild America and create millions of jobs in the process. This is a no brainer and needs to be adequately funded to get the job done with the participation of state and local governments and the private sector. Just get the job done. The stimuli should be allocated on an as needed basis to the various entities doing the work. All to be posted on line for us to see.

Stimulus Number 2: Operation Energy Independence (Technology Stimulus)

Put hundreds of thousands of us to work designing, building, and installing the hardware for our energy independence future. Hire wind, solar, geothermal engineers to begin it. Lay broadband lines to the rural areas. Manufacture millions of turbines. Drill geothermal wells. etc! (I have many practical ideas on this if you want them)

Stimulus Number 3: Education

With the infrastructure stimulus upgrading our crumbling schools, this Education stimulus should Implement a bold plan for each level of the American education system. You should use my plan for High School from my previous blog. Create millions of jobs for teachers, manufacturers, custodians, etc... and insure our future in a competitive world.

Stimulus Number 4: Health Care

Universal Coverage for anyone. Enough already. Private companies can compete for government contracts to serve us all at a high health standard. Companies who keep their patients the healthiest will receive more contracts and bonuses for their successful individual doctors. Update the medical records here.

Stimulus Number 5: Military

Upgrade and keep abreast of all the latest technology for armor, weapons, robots, and vehicles. Create an effective counter terrorist spy network and special operations units designed to fight terror cell for cell.

That's all for now. Please don't disappoint us. it's not enough to try to be bipartisan. Rolling all that "dough" into a huge and convoluted spending bill is only going to create mistakes which equals a huge waste of money. Look at the facts. What gives us the biggest bang for the buck! It will be much easier for the American people to understand and implement this effort if the spending is compartmentalized too.

Education Reform For Grades 8-12

Grade 8-12 Education Reform: I believe some fundamental changes need to happen in all levels of childhood education. However, this message deals with how I think grades 8 - 12 should be handled. School should begin at 9 a.m. (Kids need more rest) 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. During this three hour morning period, kids should be taught classic subjects: English Literature History Social Studies Applied Sciences Practical Applied Mathematics... (accounting, geometry, etc..) Economics 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. (Lunch/recess) 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. This three hour period should be devoted to a vocational study of the student's choice and aptitude. These programs should be accredited by the government and involve the community workforce. This will create new small businesses designed to host these programs after they are certified. Woodworking Auto Shop Music Journalism Medicine Computer Programming Multimedia Community Organizing and Public Service Field Biology etc........................ Each of these afternoon programs would be rigorous and carefully crafted and regularly updated to involve both sides of each students brains with a concentration on producing practical and applicable results. Some of the programs would be on campus and others would be at the accredited facilities in the community. There would be a certain degree of flexibility to insure that ambitious and "out of the box" students could have a hand in creating new programs. Certain basics tenants would need to be met in order to "pass" the semester of vocation. Students would have the flexibility of trying different areas of study in each new semester or continuing to advance in their chosen field of focus. Josh Needleman

My Lil' Auto "Bale" Out Plan

It's a great opportunity to permanently get off foreign oil by getting the big three to create green cars:

Stipulations for Big 3 Government Aid:

Step 1: Require loan applicant to come up with a modern and extremely detailed business plan including employee pay and benefits, as well as a time horizon for developing a practical fleet of clean, oil free autos.

Step 2: No management or executive pay shall be derived from the loans. Loans are to be used for R & D (with detailed weekly progress reports or funding is pulled), worker compensation, care, and benefits, advertising, and building materials.

Step 3: Funding will be granted on an "as needed" basis and all allocations must be requested from the government monthly. The government will issue individual checks to employees and contractors employees directly.That's It..

Give them a time horizon to get it done. 5 years should suffice and those rich executives will have the incentive to turn a profit in order to get paid anything! They do have the choice to quit. Let this be a model to expanding the "greening" of our infastructure to:

1. Wind turbine production and installation companies

2. Solar Power Companies

3. Road and Bridge Improvements

4. GeoThermal

5. Other Great New Clean Energy Inventions

Just Got Back from MT

I just got back from 2 days of canvassing in MT. My friend, Sally, took a couple days off of work and we drove the 3 hours to Missoula. It was raining but it felt good to be doing something, instead of just being home going nuts. A fellow supporter put us up for the night and it was just so nice to get to help try to swing a state.

Our Phone Banking Party

So a friend that I met on this website, Susan in Spokane, and I emailed back and forth that we should get together and make calls. I had called during the primaries and decided it would be more fun with a buddy. Since we picked a time, I went ahead and listed it on the site and invited another friend that I met through this site as well as a coworker of my hubby's who is the only other Obama supporter at their job. We had such a good time! One friend is a calling pro, two had never used the site to make calls and I hadn't since the primaries. It was fun to watch the reaction of the two newbies as they saw how darn* easy it is. (*sorry for the seeming Palinism, but I have been speaking and writing like that for a long time now, and I'm not having it taken away from me.) It was fun. We started calling in Pennsylvania and North Carolina until the site wouldn't give us any more numbers because of the hour and just called west into Montana and ending up in Washington. It was a great evening and I hope that more folks take the plunge and give it a try, too.

The End of The Primary Season

At long last the primary season has drawn to a close. With the voters in South Dakota and Montana casting their ballots today, we will finally have an end to the stream of numbers and controversy surrounding them. All in all it has been one of the most remarkable contests in history. Both of our candidates have great ideas and loyal supporters. More voters have turned out to exercise their franchise than any time in memory. The result will be a well tested and strong presidential candidate who is ready to take whatever the Republicans dish out. Barack Obama will reshape the way we think about the Presidency just as he has reshaped the way that we think about Democratic politics. We are in store for one of the greatest times in the history of our country. It is an honor to be a part of it.

The meetings of the Rules and Bylaws Committee will begin at 9:00 and the spin has already started from the other side. Sour grapes and blame from leading protesters began oozing out as Rosemary Camposano from WomenCount PAC whined to Newsweek that the fix was on…”There have been a lot of negotiations already. The report came out from the DNC lawyers [on Wednesday], which I think very deliberately set expectations. But this isn't about whether or not we're going to change the outcome. It's about saying, "Just a minute, here we are again: a group of people are getting together in a room somewhere to decide the outcome of an election." That just can't be how American democracy functions. We don't have any false illusions that we're going to turn the tide, but that doesn't preclude us and it shouldn't dampen our enthusiasm for not settling for this being how our democracy works.” Here we go again. I don’t think anything short of Barack coming out and declaring Hillary the victor will stop the absurd denial that resounds in the Clinton camp. Our decision not to protest…to register voters today…to let the other side make fools of themselves was a good one. I am reminded of a story about a young priest who is called to the desert to do missionary work with the Whirling Dervishes. The mystic dance is totally lost on the young man. He became frantic as the December 17 celebration of Rumi’s death goes on into the wee hours of the morning with Dervish members collapsing around him. He went to an older priest and asked how he had handled such things for so many years. The old man smiled and said “You must allow them to whirl”. This is the time to let it all go. We have made our point well. Our example is our virtue and dedication. Let’s just let ‘em whirl.

Saturday's Meeting and The Primaries

We are all aware that The Democratic National Committee's Rules & Bylaws Committee will meet on Saturday May 31, 2008 in Washington, DC. to consider the two challenges that have been filed pursuant to Rule 20.B of the 2008 Delegate Selection Rules and Regulation 3 of the Regulations of the Rules and Bylaws Committee concerning the seating of delegations from Florida and Michigan. Many of us will be registering voters and all of us will be anxiously awaiting the decision (or non-decision) coming from the afternoon session. I believe that too much can be made of the outcome. It will be what it will be. The most important events in our future are the primaries in Puerto Rico, Montana and South Dakota. The hard work of everyone involved in the campaigns in these sites will provide the momentum that will finally end in the nomination of our candidate. Barack Obama will be the next President of The United States of America. Not because of the actions of The RBC but because of the voters and workers who dedicate themselves to the cause.

Back To The Positive Message

"If we don't change course soon, we may be the first generation in a very long time that leaves behind a weaker and more fractured America than the one we inherited." This quote, of course is taken from page nine of The Audacity of Hope. Barack Obama has risen above the negativity of pushpolling, whining and blaming, attempts to alter the rules of engagement in the campaign, and countless attacks of a variety of personal and professional affronts. It is so impressive and refreshing to bear witness to such character and determination. Senator Obama is unlike any who has crossed our path in the memory of our generations. He is certainly a man of the people...a man who puts priciples over personalities...a man of compassion and understanding...a person of courage and faith. It is time for us all to follow his lead. The negativism will go on with or without us. We stand on the side of hope and change. Yes We Can!

A Final Word About "The Popular Vote" An Open Letter To President Clinton

"Oh, this is so terrible: The people they want her. Oh, this is so terrible: She is winning the general election, and he is not. Oh my goodness, we have to cover this up." This is the mocking statement that you made, President Clinton as you tried once again to convince people in South Dakota that our campaign and/or the DNC is somehow robbing Hillary of her political "right" to the Democratic candidacy this fall. The silly nature of this wording and the nature of the attack is an affront to the intelligence of the American people. It seems evident that you, President Clinton, and Senator Clinton and your campaign staff believe that the rest of us all fell off of the turnip truck yesterday morning on the way to market. We are not so ignorant, Mr. President. We are well aware of the rules of the election that you all agreed to when this whole thing started. We all know that it is impossible to figure a popular vote equation when caucus states are part of the picture...let alone Michigan and Florida. You cannot fool us with your good ole boy charm this time, Mr. President. We loved you once Bill but we won't love you in November. The popular vote does not factor in to this the way you want it to...and you will not trick us in to feeling sorry for your wife. Gather your dignity and retire with at least part of your legacy intact.

MT Volunteering

I feel a strong call to go to MT to volunteer for this campaign, but feel horribly torn. Safety is always my main concern, and I would like to stay in a hotel, but $ is a huge issue for me at this time due to medical bills (i.e. the importance of quality health care and insurance - we need to support Obama's plan!). Even with stating that, I feel that at this time, I just cannot attend. Safety and money are very much hindering my ability to go. However, that does not mean support cannot be given. To those who find themselves in my same situation, remember, this is a grassroots campaign and as Barack as stated before, change comes from the bottom up. Even if this is only by watching the news and being informed - this supports his campaign. Even with my financial concerns, if I have $10 to donate, I will and do. Vote early in your county if you can (I already have!).
