A Felony can ruin your life...

My son was 18 months old when he climbed out of his bedroom window almost 8 years ago. Because we didn't get along with our neighbors, they decided to call the cops on me instead of telling me that he had escaped. Because of that, I have a class D felony child neglect charge on my record. That means I can't even get a job at the grocery store across the street because they do background checks. Indiana has NO expungement procedure. Some felons can petiton the state police to lock their record after 20 years, but that's it. Not all felons are the evil people the media makes people think they are!

GOP to file fundraising complaint against Obama

WASHINGTON - The Republican National Committee plans to file a fundraising complaint against Democrat Barack Obama's presidential campaign Monday, alleging it has accepted donations that exceed federal limits as well as illegal contributions from foreigners.

RNC officials acknowledged Sunday that they do not have a list of foreign donors to Obama's campaign. Instead, the complaint is based largely on media reports, including one from the conservative Web site Newsmax.

The complaint asks the Federal Elections Commission to audit Obama's campaign fund, RNC chief counsel Sean Cairncross said in a conference call with reporters.

Cairncross said little is known about many of Obama's donors because the campaign is not required to disclose detailed information about people who give less than $200.

The Obama campaign, which is not accepting public funds, has raised more than $468 million. About half has come from small donors, a point of pride for the Obama campaign.

The Obama campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment

COMPACTION: Read to understand this term

My Pastor gave a great message today. His message was on compaction. He shared with us this term is a mix of campassion and action. This term is now the theme for our church. He was teaching from Isaiah 58 where God is addressing the nation of Israel and pointing out they have been going through religious motions as a show of worship and then grumble why God does not respond to their crys for help. God points out the kind of worship he seeks is where his people "loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke to set the oppressed free"; "to share your food with the hungry"; to provide the poor wanderer with shelter"; "when you see the naked, to clothe him"; "not to turn away from your own flesh and blood"; and, "do away with ....the pointing finger and malicious talk." God tells them that if they do these things their "light will break forth like dawn", their "righteousness will go before them", "the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard."

I can't help but see the change God is calling for is the same so many are calling for in this country, whether they are Christian, another faith, or just socially conscience. We cannot have inequality in our society and not care about it. We need to have compassion and have that compassion drive us to help---COMPACTION! I am excited to see an awakening in this country and look forward to us living up to the promise we have to be leaders of the true free world. Then again, I believe, so I can't help but believe there is HOPE! Yes we can, if we really have compassion for the troubles in this world; and, we each, individually and collectively, work at helping each other.

Two Societies

I am thankful for the stirring the sermons by Rev. Wright caused. I am hopeful together we bring about good through open discussion. I spent hours reviewing history, examining the civil rights movement. The movement was not a black issue. Civil rights are fundamental for all. A rights movement for anyone is a movement for all. Points from my survey of 1959-1970 reveal:
1964 Virginia schools, Prince Edward County, closed since 1959 Court rulings required integration of schools, are ordered to reopen. Public schools had closed and local governments gave scholarships to white students for private schools. For 5-6 years few blacks received an education. When public schools reopened 1,400 black, but only 7 white, students attended.
Republican nominee for President, Barry Goldwater, voted against the Civil Rights Act. Activists promoting black voter registration were killed. 30 black churches were burned. 90% of students still attended segregated schools.
1965: Gov. Wallace orders troops to end a march for black voting rights using whips, nightsticks, and tear gas.
1966: White mob attacks black school children who integrated an all white school using chains, pipes, and axe handles, local police stood and watched. The peacful movement developed more violence through the Black Panthers. Although black leaders were called to, and many did denounce the movement, peace loving Martin Luther King refused. (My personal thought: he deplored violence but understood the anger and frustration and it needed to be acknowledged and not simply denounced. He could speak against their actions without denouncing them and dismissing their anger.
These were 30-40 years ago, inequality and anger still exist. We must admit and improve!

National commissions 1969-70 found the most serious threat to U.S. security was internal, two societies, seperate and unequal. Freedom-equality-opportunity were not realities for all. Proposed shift of priorities. Recommended spending 20 billion on general welfare AS SOON AS VIETNAM WAR ENDS.
2008: A news publication advocates biggest threat to our world is the unequal distribution of wealth and ignoring individual plight.

PERHAPS, WE CAN READJUST PRIORITIES, END IRAQ, AND FOCUS ON HELPING PEOPLE! MAYBE WE CAN DO AWAY WITH THE ANGER AND FRUSTRATION, IN OUR COUNTRY AND OUTSIDE IT, BY REALLY CARING ABOUT PEOPLE, IN OUR COUNTRY AND OUTSIDE IT! WE CAN HOPE!

The Bible teaches responding to evil, not with evil, but with love. I believe God knows what is right! I choose love! I choose hope! I choose Obama!

Where's Our Tax Dollars?

A recent ABC News article on the continuing plight of our Gulf Coast citizens,about ICF International,who was given $300,000,000.00 up front to disperse grants to Katrina victims.only $46,000,000.00 of that money has been used and $2,000,000.00 of that went to the corporations excutives as bounses.Where is the rest of our hard earned tax dollars? Those air heads in Washington DC. just paid over $900,000.00 to ship a package.Who the HE__double hockey sticks is overseeing these funds ? These are tax dollars from hard working Americans who struggle to pay,mortages,insurance,car payments,childcare,groceries, and utilities from a check that's overtaxed before they get it and it's being squandered like this? Wake up America ! If we don't get Barack into the Presidency it's gonna be more of the same. I'm mad as excuse my language but i'm mad as (hell) and if you're a working American you should be too !!!! What the heck did they do to earn these bonses ? Where are the balance of those funds ICF, Mr.Bush,Fema ??????????
