... he is practically a reincarnation. In fact, he is perhaps a better embodiment of the ideals of Democratic politics than JFK himself was, as Barack has achieved his place in America from a far humbler beginning. He is also more of a populist, a characteristic that John Edwards gruelingly reminded us is crucial to our claim of being "the people's party."
Most importantly, perhaps, Barack isn't a John. Or a George, William, James, Ronald, etc. I am white and there are times when I hate the racial charge of this election, but his not being white -for me- simply underscores the magnitude of the change he would effect. Not that black people are inherently more progressive - look at Alan Keyes - but Obama really is progressive, and the fact of his race is just like icing on a civil rights cake that too many in this country have taken far too long to swallow.
Yet like John Kennedy, Barack has inspired new voters - young and old - of all races to take part in the process, and has pledged to work with everyone once elected; importantly, this includes Republicans. At the same time, he is willing to ask Americans - especially those most benefitted by this country - to sacrifice for America, as JFK did. Like JFK, Obama does not use his faith OR his race either for political legitimacy or advantage. And like the Kennedies, even Obama's beautiful family just seems to embody what we all want - a happy home, family united in place and purpose.
And wouldn't it be nice to return to Camelot? To an America where everyone pulls as hard as they are able for the common good? To a politics where all parties are listened to and practical compromise is not eschewed but sought? To a world where America leads by righteous example rather than self-righteous action, and where American leaders (as in the Bay of Pigs) admit mistakes when they make them? Where presidents reassure Americans that they *aren't* tools of a church, rather than the reverse?
I think it would, and I am banking on at least 60% of November's voters to agree.

Hello Team,
Barack has given us Hope - Now it is time to give something back!
Barack Obama has hundreds of thousands of people that have contributed to his campaign thus far. Imagine if 100,000 of them all contributed on one day - or even more than that.. What if we could raise 5 or 10 million dollars in one day?
Imagine if on November 15th Barack has an amazing showing in the next debate. With all of the news stations covering his performance, then we raise this unprecedented amount - making all the headlines around the country.
With a good debate and an unprecedented raising of funds all in one day, it could be enough to propel Barack to the presidency. We could begin the process of restoring unity in our country. Most of all, we can restore Hope.
On November 16th, 2007, or what now is known as "Barack's Friday" contribute every dollar you can. More importantly, forward this information to all of your friends and relatives. Make your voice heard!
I know it is a stretch goal for most of us.
Not an impossible one, but certainly audacious.
