On Monday, October 5th, 2009, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order on Federal Sustainability – and in doing so, committed the Federal government to lead by example, practice what we preach and help build a clean energy economy through how we operate.
To harness the collective wisdom of the more than 1.8 million civilian employees and our men and women in uniform, we’re launching the GreenGov Challenge, an online participatory way for Federal employees to suggest clean energy ideas and vote on others.
Some of the top ideas will be presented to the Steering Committee on Federal Sustainability – a group comprised of a senior official from each agency who is responsible for delivering among other things, each agency’s sustainability plan.
Though anyone can see your ideas, only Federal employees can participate – so this is your chance to positively impact how your agency will meet its 2020 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target.
Be part of the GreenGov Challenge and help green our government!
The GreenGov challenge runs from Oct. 19th — 31st

From OFA Director Mitch Stewart:
Every single day, special interests spend a staggering $1.4 million lobbying Congress to shut down the President's agenda for health care reform. To fix our broken system, we'll have to counter big corporate money with a grassroots network of folks like you. More than 100,000 Americans have now donated to our grassroots campaign for health care reform. Because of that support, volunteers are knocking on hundreds of thousands of doors, health care story ads are on the air, and voters are writing and calling Congress to make their voices heard. We're off to a great start, but as the pressure builds in Washington we need to ramp up our efforts to build support in every corner of the country. If you make a donation by midnight on Thursday, July 16th to power our health care campaign, you could join President Obama in Chicago so he can thank you in person. Will you make a donation of $5 or more today, and be entered for the opportunity to meet the President in Chicago? You'll also be invited to a special Organizing for America strategy briefing to discuss the latest in our campaign for real health care reform. Your donation will help fund our grassroots campaign for real care reform that reduces costs, guarantees every American the choice of plan and doctor -- including a public insurance option -- and ensures quality care for all. The chance to make this kind of fundamental change is exactly why we put it all on the line to win last year's election. Now is our moment to deliver the real progress America needs. Will you make a donation of $5 or more by midnight on Thursday, July 16th to support health care reform, and be entered for the opportunity to join the President in Chicago next week? Thanks for your support, Mitch Mitch Stewart Director Organizing for America P.S. -- Can't make a donation right now? That's ok, you can sign up here to be entered for the opportunity to meet President Obama in Chicago and join us for a special strategy briefing.

!Hi Old Gang,
We over at the OFA blog miss you guys like crazy!! I know each and every one of you worked your tails off and then some, for us during and after the most HISTORIC presidential campaign in modern America. There are no words available to express the gratitude I feel for your efforts, dedication, strength, camraderie, compassion and loyalty.
With your dedication we were able to elect President Obama and now the REAL Fight begins and we (ORGANIZING FOR AMERICA) could again use your brilliance to get Pres. Obama's Agenda PUSHED!!
As you are aware the BIGGEST FIGHT now is healthcare reform. We need many, many foot soldiers to help Pres. Obama get healthcare reform passed this year. The opposition is fighting back hard and with lots of muscle and dollars. And even though I'm lucky enough to be satisfied with the HC I have now( good employee benefit-hc free of charge..no premiums, and I pay only 5.00 co-pays and 5.00 for prescriptions)I'm in this fight for the uninsured and underinsured!!
So I'm begging (you do what you have to do) you to help us out at OFA...we could surely use you.
Thanks in advance for all your efforts and I continue to pray that ALL IS WELL for you and your loved ones!!!
Blessings!!
bonnie4Obama!

Presidential Candidate Barack Obama: Faith And Values
GREENVILLE, South Carolina (CNN) — After speaking to an evangelical church on Sunday in this traditionally conservative South Carolina city, Sen. Barack Obama said that Republicans no longer have a firm grip on religion in political discourse.
"I think its important particularly for those of us in the Democratic party to not cede values and faith to any one party," Obama told reporters outside the Redemption World Outreach Center where he attended services.
"I think that what you're seeing is a breaking down of the sharp divisions that existed maybe during the nineties, when at least in politics the perception was that the Democrats were fearful of talking about faith, and on the other hand you had the Republicans who had a particular brand of faith that often times seemed intolerant or pushed people away," he said.
During the nearly two hour service that featured a rock band and hip-hop dancers, Obama shared the floor with the church's pastor, Ron Carpenter. The senator from Illinois asked the multiracial crowd of nearly 4,000 people to keep him and his family in their prayers, and said he hoped to be "an instrument of God."
"Sometimes this is a difficult road being in politics," Obama said. "Sometimes you can become fearful, sometimes you can become vain, sometimes you can seek power just for power's sake instead of because you want to do service to God. I just want all of you to pray that I can be an instrument of God in the same way that Pastor Ron and all of you are instruments of God."
This Man is looking Out for the American People and It's All GOOD haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No Victim Groups, No Special Groups, No Ethnic Groups, and No Lobbying Groups, But Just ONE GROUP CALLED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
One CONSTITUENCY GROUP called THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
The American People is the only Group that We need to hear about, work for, and be the voice of, for the 8 Next Years.
BARACK OBAMA WON!!!!!!!!!!
YES WE DID!!!!!
We have been through a lot together.
From the primaries, where we were tested to the bone. To the run up to the general election, now only 4 days away, where we have seen the worst of the worst.
This campaign has been the most inspiring experience I have ever had. From my childhood, living in Florida, where I saw the 'difference' between how one color lived from another, to the world I've traveled since, it is clear to me that on November 4, we have a chance to realize a dream. The choice is ours.
We have become a new family, formed for a common purpose. And through this journey, we have connected deeper than many of us may have ever thought. I've made friends with people in every state. (I've even eaten the foods of every state during my primary phonebanking.) What we have achieved thus far has never been seen before.
Not only have we reached out to each other, we have reached out to Americans all around the nation. We have been like mini-Barack's, calling and canvassing in multiple states - meeting people who have told us their stories. And, in that experience, we have been humbled.
This truly is a great nation.
For the last eight years, something went terribly wrong. The people were ignored. Our President and Vice President and their crew decided to put their own interests ahead of ours. And look where that has gotten us. Lives lost for nothing. Homes lost for nothing. Jobs lost for nothing. Billions of dollars wasted - for nothing. An economy driven by greed. Greed which spread like a cancer - and nearly killed us.
In 4 days, we can change all that.
In 4 days, we can begin the healing. We can restore the trust. We, the people, can once again feel we have a say in our country's future - which, is OUR future.
If we fail. If we do not do what we have to do over the next 4 days, then we will only have ourselves to blame. Our dreams, our hopes, our time and money spent, will have been wasted.
In these last 4 days, let's not leave anything to chance.
The choice for change is clear. And now we must make sure everyone makes that choice a reality on November 4.
-Kevin Michael Winterfield Going Positive, Staying Positive
There's a man and a boy running for President. I vote for the man.
You?
Stay focused - the bailout is going the way it should - our reps are discussing the issues, working it, and not letting it get rammed up our tushes. I think this back and forth is good - and will result in a better plan. There's a game being played here by Bush/Paulson/McCain - the 'do it now or else' game.. we saw this in Iraq... and look where that got us.
The markets will slide, but they will recover too. Don't get gamed by the 'gamblers of Washington.'
Obama has shown great leadership in bringing up a set of principles which protect regular middle class and working class citizens - and punishes those fatcats who got us in this mess.
It's good, people. It's good.

hey, check out this cool new music video my buddy recorded about how important it is to get rid of the same old, same old we all face everyday. kinda rings a bell, don't you think?
it's pretty darn cool - listen to the lyrics - quite inspirational. it's called "Lost and Found:"

We are in the middle of the Katrina of economic hurricanes. Bush/McCain and gang saw it coming, but they just let it happen. God, do we need a change. They have led our nation like it was the Titanic - straight into this financial iceberg.
Make no mistake about it: This crisis is very serious. We are on the verge of a depression - yes, I said it, a depression. Many of us already can check out our home values on Zillow (http://www.zillow.com/) to see just how far our home values have fallen in just the last month. Others of us can look at our 401(k) accounts and see the massive losses there. Others are being foreclosed upon. Others are unable to afford gas. And sadly, others can't afford food. Yes, this is the real America we are living in now. Not the land of prosperity. Instead, we see our country as the land of greed and division.
From the start we said that Obama was about uniting our country and that our opponents were about dividing us up - into the haves and the have nots. And, now we see this coming to bare. Unfortunately, many Americans, myself included, are at serious risk to their well-being. Our livelihoods may just be going down the drain.
Right now, as Obama said today, this is not about politics. This is not about partisanship (as McCain is trying to make it). This is not even just about Wall Street - and saving the asses of those wealthy bastards that ran this country into the toilet. This is about Main Street - and what we mean by Main Street is you, me. Us.
Obama was right from the very beginning. He is right today. He has not wavered from his stance. In the slog of a politics of distraction, Obama has stood tall - stood calm, fought back as needed - and today, we, all of us, see that he was right.
It's time for us to work together now, throw down politics, and make damn sure that the people who got us into this are punished and the little people, called the middle class and the working class, are not taken, once again, for granted. Because we are about to, all of us, take on possibly 1 trillion dollars in debt in order to save our country. And when we do this, we, not McCain, will be the true American heroes this time around.
-k g+s+ :: come together now :: !!
Obama is right.
This is not time to play politics with the livelihood of middle class/working class folks like us. McCain wants to use the economic crisis he helped create as a political issue and attack, attack, attack. He doesn't give a crap about us, he cares about only one person: McCain.
Senator McCain: STOP MESSING WITH MY LIVELIHOOD! YOU ARE STRANGLING ME!
