Today is an exciting day with the Senate passing health care reform. I know we all may have certain things we would want in that bill that are not there and other things we might want out, but this is indeed historic and the type of thing that we all fought for when we worked to elect President Obama. With the House and Senate both passing health care reform bills we can now look forward to seeing a meaningful bill emerge through Conference, and a bill on the Presidents desk in the new year. This is hope, this is change and this is real reform that we all made happen my knocking on doors and making calls and making contributions .Yes there is more to do on health care and many other issues which we all need to continue to work for. We also need to get involved and make a difference locally and in our State. We have another election around the corner on February 2 with early voting starting on January 11. We have important races for the US Senate seat the President held, for Governor, for Congress for State reps and many more. I am engaged in one of those races for State Rep. and I hope to have the opportunity to go to Springfield to fight for real change which we desperately need, and I could use your help and support since I am up against the powers that be. Let's Turn Indiana Blue for Barack

We can do this but must give it our all thru Tuesday. As many have said it is not over till it's over. The campaign really needs people for Indianapolis this weekend if we want to turn Indiana "Blue for Barack" I will be going and hope to leave friday nite so we can avoid a very very early sat drive since they want us to check in by 9am. I plan to stay till late sunday but putting in one day would be great too.I can drive a few people if anyone is up for it and of course others could drive friday nite or Sat morning. GET ON THE BUS with volunteers from the 42nd Ward to help Barack win Wisconsin.

We have been reassigned to Wisconsin. We will get back to everyone with new details ASAP but I'm told that our canvassing location will be in Southeast Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Racine or Kenosha).

I would like to invite you to AGAIN join me in traveling to a battleground state to campaign for Barack Obama on Saturday, October 25 through Sunday, October 26.

Since Gov. Sarah Palin started scaremongering against Barack Obama last weekend, John McCain's rallies have turned into surreal displays of open bigotry. In Minnesota this weekend, McCain finally tried to tamp down some of the hate—before continuing his attempt to associate Obama with Bill Ayers in the same gathering. We need you on ground now more than ever in the battleground state of Wisconsin to show these hate filled McCain supporters that no candidate can win the White House by utilizing racism and fear to motivate voters.

We are still renting a bus for the trip this time - and SEATS ARE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. The bus will leave at 6:30 am from a location in the 42nd Ward to be determined. Otherwise, volunteers can travel on their own or car caravan with the group to our office destination.

We will canvas in Wisconsin from 11AM to 4PM on Saturday and Sunday and then return to Illinois Sunday evening.

On October 25th and 26th Help Us Win a Battleground State (Canvass) GET ON THE BUS with volunteers from the 42nd Ward to help Barack win Michigan (or some other battleground state such as Indiana, Wisconsin or Iowa).

With just four weeks to go until the Nov. 4 election, Michigan is starting to lean heavily towards Barack Obama. However, we can't slow down yet.

The problems facing our country are too great, and the risk of Republican control of the White House too dire to sit back at this critical juncture. As you know, connecting one-on-one with voters is the most important tactic we have to send Barack to the White House in November.

I would like to invite you to AGAIN join me in traveling to Grand Rapids, Michigan (or maybe some exotic locale in Indiana, Wisconsin or Iowa) to campaign for Barack Obama on Saturday, October 25 through Sunday, October 26.

We will be renting a bus for the trip this time - and SEATS ARE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS. The bus will leave at 6:30 am from a location in the 42nd Ward to be determined. Otherwise, volunteers can travel on their own or car caravan with the group to our office destination.

The drive to southwestern Michigan is approximately 3 hours from Chicago. We will canvas in Michigan from 11AM to 4PM on Saturday and Sunday and then return to Illinois Sunday evening.

Hi Obama supporters!!! Molly K here. We had an awesome event last night at Village Tap. Raised over $6000 for the campaign and still counting... Wish you were there... You can easily make up for it by coming to some awesome debate parties and other events in the coming weeks.... They just keep getting better... Union for Reform Judaism and Iowa/Midwest Flood Relief

You've seen the pictures on the front pages of all the newspapers and the images on every news station. My hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been in the news for weeks as record flooding hit the city, state, and region.

Now that the floodwaters are receding, the difficult and dangerous work of clean-up and rebuilding has begun. And thanks to the leadership of the Union for Reform Judaism, we can help! Your donations to the Union for Reform Judaism Disaster Relief Fund will help residents affected by Midwest flooding to put their lives back together.

Thankfully, our families' homes are on higher ground. And Temple Judah, the only Synagogue in Cedar Rapids, is providing meals to relief workers, offering worship space to churches that were under water, and coordinating volunteers to where they are needed most. Temple members and family friends have lost homes and businesses as the entire city has been hard hit. The downtown business district was destroyed with floodwaters reaching the second stories and rooftops, far higher than any sandbag wall could withstand. And 25,000 people in Cedar Rapids (population 110,000) were displaced when they were evacuated and their homes flooded. The story repeats along other river cities and towns in the region. I'm hoping that Jewish people will not be persuaded to vote for McCain due to Lieberman. How can we get the word out to Jewish voters that just because Lieberman is Jewish, doesn't mean voting for McCain is in their best interest nor in the interest of Israel nor for the peace process in the Middle East? Suggestions? e

Would you believe that 10% of Americans believe Obama is a Muslim?

Would you believe that 22% believe President Bush knew about September 11 attacks before they happened?

I'm less alarmed about the fact that 30% of Americans believe Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. That corresponds perfectly to George W. Bush's base, the fundamental religious people who will apparently believe what they're told without questioning. My leader right or wrong, etc.

The 23% believing they've been in the presence of a ghost may have something in common with the 18% who believe the sun revolves around the earth.

We need to educate people. We need to educate people. (Politico story here).

Diversity4Obama Walk4Change in DC

My name is Rhonda Barnes-Pouliot. I was born in Detroit. I am 50 years old and am a former republican. Like many others in Michigan, I recently lost my job at GM. I was never involved in politics until Barack Obama inspired me to get involved. On February 10, 2007 Senator Obama announced his candidacy for the President of the United States. Now I know that I can make a difference. I started the Diversity4Obama group on February 11, 2007 the following day. Our group is made up of Obama supporters from all backgrounds regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, sexual preference or disability. Barack Obama offers many like us hope. We believe in his vision that we, the people, can be part of the change that is needed in our government, needed in Washington. In his own words: The genius of our founders is that they designed a system of government that can be changed. And we should take heart, because we've changed this country before. For that is our unyielding faith - that in the face of impossible odds, people who love their country can change it. I planted just one seed...to Walk in Washington D.C., out nation’s capital to show the world that Americans from all walks of life support Barack Obama. Walkers are coming from many states, New York, Michigan, Florida, California, Illinois, Maryland, Louisiana, Florida, Massachusetts, Connecticut, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas and others. Here are some of their testimonies:  I am coming from Sarasota, Florida. I, a 66 year old white woman, retired US Diplomat. I have signed up for this walk to show the diversity of his supporters to be part of something bigger than me, than Sarasota, with people from throughout the USA, all ages, walks of lives, races, ethic groups and to inspire others to do the same in a variety of ways and places to do this in Washington, DC, the capital of my beloved, albeit beleaguered, country.  I joined the group because I believe that it's what Barack Obama represents. He will help us to fulfill MLK's dream. I am coming from Alexandria, VA.  I heard about the walk from a friend who was in Peace Corps with me 30 years ago. We are hoping that many from our Peace Corps group will join us .  I am part of Michigan State Students for Barack Obama, we are excited to be part of walk4change.  I think it's an important message to all of our legislators that change is desired and the status quo won't do any more. We need to have a strong message in our nation's capital.  We will be coming from Chicago, IL We are strong Obama supporters and very excited about this walk for change. I am so thankful you and others are putting this together.  I am coming from Hillsboro, West Virginia, and I am coming to Walk4Change-Walk4Obama because I believe that Senator Obama is the only candidate who understands and can begin to deliver the kinds of change for which many Americans are yearning. I want to share and celebrate this common vision with thousands of other Obama supporters.  I will be coming from NYC to attend the Walk 4 Change in DC. I am attending this event because I believe that a change, lead by Senator Obama, is about to happen in America and I want to be a part of it.  I am coming from Sterling Heights, Michigan. I signed up because I thought this would be a wonderful historic event for my 17 year old grandson. He is the youngest of my 10 grandchildren. He turns 18 in September and this will be his first time voting. I wanted to share this experience with him. We are both excited. He is coming from Lansing, Michigan.  I will be coming from Ann Arbor, MI. I have signed up for this walk to show support for Senator Obama and the possibility of change. We have been through a lot in the past years and we need hope, Because no matter what the right wing says people are experiencing hard times that cannot be ignored.  My reason for the walk is just to demonstrate my support for Obama and for the style of political discourse he represents: straight-talk about serious issues instead of games-playing and posturing  I’m from Salisbury, MA. I want to join the "walk4change walk4obama" march in Washington DC because I am inspired by Barack Obama's message of unity. I think that a group based on America's diversity marching in our nation's capitol to support a message of unity is a strong symbol of Obama's strength.  I will be coming from Fishkill, NY with my 11 year old son. I believe that Barack Obama is a leader who will unite our country and heal our relations around the world. He will bring about positive change for our country. He represents the hope of a better tomorrow and the realization that anything and everything is possible if we work hard for our dreams. Let's Stay Fired up to the Finish Line

As a suburban mayor who wants to see our country move forward in November I urge others to join me in staying fired up till the finish line of not only this Nomination process but our presidential election this fall.
