Event Name: CAN Group Organizing Meeting
I am happy to say goodbye to the administration and politics of the last eight years. I hope to remember this election for my life, for I did what I could to talk to all my neighbors, friends, and community about my support for Sen. Obama. I am glad that you all also feel that he is the right person at this time to lead our country into renewable energy, close the war in Iraq, finish the war in Afghanistan, redo the 2000 congress’s failure of legislating Wall Street, and most importantly, end the fear mongering tactics and divisive politics of the last eight years.
“Yes We Can” means that we all must work toward achieving these efforts. In my 37th year of life, I now have fully awoken and feel a responsibility to community and country. For all that our history has done to bring us today, I refuse to let it go to religious idealism over science and facts, corporate over public interest, and carbon emissions over renewable energy.
Join with me in making sure change happens.
Sincerely,
Gary
I got an e-mail that Dems caused the credit crisis. Here is my response that you can use.
Actually, although no one factor solely caused the credit crisis, deregulation and failures to regulate have a central importance.
Remember, only about 6% of all mortgages are in default. 6% of mortgages going into default should not have threatened the entire economy the way it has. It did because of the bets (insurance) against mortgage defaults, i.e., the credit-default swaps, were valued too highly and when the mortgages started to default, the CDSs fell in value. That brought down Bear Sterns, Lehman Brothers, AIG, etc. Had the CDS’s been regulated or, depending on how you look at it, had the banks not specifically avoided regulation by hiding CDS’s from regulators, their failure wouldn’t have threatened the entire economy.
I know even more regarding mortgage broker and borrow fraud plus lack of FBI enforcement interest that contributed to the issue given my 10 years in the financial and mortgage industry originating consumer loans and managing policies and procedures.

Well, the Republicans now have a ''peculiar" right wing extremist as a Presidential candidate and a "beyond the beyond" right wing extremist as a Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, who will soon be a young grandmother. Wondering, who is Sarah Palin and what that choice would mean for us? Yesterday was John McCain's 72nd birthday. If elected, he'd be the oldest President ever inaugurated. And after months of slamming Barack Obama for "inexperience," imagine who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the Presidency? He picked an extreme right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people. Huh?1, She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. 2. She has no foreign policy experience.1 3. Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2 4. She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. 3 5. Palin thinks Creationism should be taught in public schools.4 6. She doesn't think humans are the cause of global warming and consequent climate change.5 7. She's solidly in line with John McCain 's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says "renewables" won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as=2 0an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.68. How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7This is information the American people need to see. Send this email to your friends and family.
Here are some comments from people who are closer to her than most...
She is really just a mayor from a small town outside Anchorage who has been a governor for only 1.5 years, and has ZERO national and international experience. I shudder to think that she could be the person taking that 3AM call on the White House hotline, and the one who could potentially be charged with leading the US in the volatile international scene that exists today. —Rose M., Fairbanks, AK
She is VERY, VERY conservative, and far from perfect. She's a hunter and fisherwoman, but votes against the environment again and again. She ran on ethics reform, but is currently under investigation for several charges involving hiring and firing of state officials. She has NO experience beyond Alaska. —Christine B., Denali Park, AK
As an Alaskan and a feminist, I am beyond words at this announcement. Palin is not a feminist, and she is not the reformer she claims to be. —Karen L., Anchorage, AK
Alaskans, collectively, are just as stunned as the rest of the nation. She is doing well running our State, but is totally inexperienced on the national level, and very much unequipped to run the nation, if it came to that. She is as far right as one can get, which has already been communicated on the news. In our office of thirty employees (dems, republicans, and nonpartisans), not one person feels she is ready for the V.P. position.—Sherry C., Anchorage, AK
She's vehemently anti-choice and doesn't care about protecting our natural resources, even though she has worked as a fisherman. McCain chose her to pick up the Hillary voters, but Palin is no Hillary. —Marina L., Juneau, AK
I think she's far too inexperienced to be in this position. I'm all for a woman in the White House, but not one who hasn't done anything to deserve it. There are far many other women who have worked their way up and have much more experience that would have been better choices. This is a patronizing decision on John McCain's part, and insulting to females everywhere that he would assume he'll get our vote by putting "A Woman" in that position.—Jennifer M., Anchorage, AK
So, Governor Palin is a staunch anti-choice religious conservative. She's a global warming denier who shares John McCain's commitment to Big Oil, and she's dramatically inexperienced. In picking Sarah Palin, John McCain has made the religious right very happy. And he's made a very dangerous decision for our country.
In the next few days, many Americans will be wondering what McCain's vice-presidential choice means. Pass this information along to your friends and family.

Per CNN . . .
(CNN) – It's already happened once before: the person tapped to search for a vice presidential candidate assumes the position instead. Now, liberal filmmaker Michael Moore is pushing for it to happen again — this time with Caroline Kennedy assuming the role of Dick Cheney. In an open letter to the famous political scion Wednesday tapped by Obama to find his No. 2, Moore expresses deep reserve with leading VP candidates Joe Biden and Evan Bayh because of their votes to authorize the Iraq war, and urges Kennedy to float her own name for the position."What Obama needs is a vice presidential candidate who is not a professional politician, but someone who is well-known and beloved by people across the political spectrum; someone who, like Obama, spoke out against the war; someone who has a good and generous heart, who will be cheered by the rest of the world; someone whom we've known and loved and admired all our lives and who has dedicated her life to public service and to the greater good for all," Moore writes in the letter published on his Web site."That person, Caroline, is you."

Call me mulder - I want to believer...
There has never been anything false about hope!
Thanks to John Edwards, the headlines have been refocussed. Its important to keep moving forward looking at the General Elections. Whatever distraction Mrs. Clinton is providing needs to end soon. The party needs her to get behind the nominee- Barack, focus on the campaign and help Barack win the presidency. There is no more honor in dragging on a race that has essentially ended.
Speaking of which - what can we do to move the WA supers to endorse Obama - the ones that have not yet? There is a signature campaign effort going on. Please sign it, if you have not already.

For those of us who have been inspired to become an active part of this historic campaign, our work has only started. We are almost there. The White House is in sight, yet we need to keep on keeping on as our journey cannot stop at the Primaries and Caucuses. Lets get together and organize in our neighbourhoods and communities and spread Barack's vision one person at a time, one neighborhood at a time till we get to the Whitehouse and beyond. So far we were in a comparatively friendly fight for the nomination, the stakes are higher as we start to work the General Elections. Lets get prepared by educationg ourselves on Barack's vision on various issues and be ready to speak to these as we start conversations with our Republican and independent neighbors and relatives.
