The Time Has Come!

Finally! After years spent on the Obama campaign, the time has come to see the fruit of our time and labor. November 4th will not only be an intelligence test for America, it will be a sanity check. If this country achieves its freedom from the Special Interest in spite of its media propoganda machinery, we will have redeemed ourselves as an intelligent and sane people.

I am a Staging Location Director for Fulton County. We are fortunate to be located at Metro Lanes at 1959 Metropolitan Pkwy. Our staging area is in the ballroom on the right side of the complex. The management of Metro Lanes complex have been unbelievably helpful to the campaign. The volunteers have worked tirelessly to get out the vote. The time has come to put Barack Obama in the White House! Please join us.

  More like a festival than simply a farmers market, the East Atlanta Village Farmers Market houses several vendors selling fresh produce and handmade crafts, as well as daily musical acts. The market is open every Thursday from May to November, 4 p.m. to dusk, at Village Hardware on Glenwood Avenue.

  The newest additon to the farmers market scene in Atlanta, Studioplex Green Market offers fresh produce from farms in Habersham and Rabun counties. The market is driven by a philanthropic effort- proceeds from market sales benefit City Church-Eastside and leftover fruits and veggies from the day will be donated to Open Hand, a non-profit organization based in Atlanta. The market is open every Saturday through the fall from 8 a.m. to noon across from the main entrance to Studioplex Lofts.

Ideas for Voter Registration

Our most important task is deciding on locations for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, AND THEN telling our volunteers and new volunteers where to show up on each of those days. We need places (in or near our turf - see map link on previosu post) to register voters on

Friday night
Saturday
Sunday
Monday

We have talked about

that area of N. Highland with Highland Bakery, the Parish, the Grape, Fritti, Sotto Sotto, etc. (how about that for Friday evening?)
the farmer's market in Glenwood Park (Saturday morning)
the farmer's market on Krog near Studioplex (Saturday morning)
Ebenezer Church and the whole Martin Luther King, Jr. National Monument and Natatorium area (Saturday afternoon? Monday afternoon?)
the inman park marta station (friday afternoon, if any one is available?)

Does anybody know what is going on this weekend in Atlanta for Labor Day? lety's talk about that on Wednesday am too. We will need to do some phonebanking to let volunteers kow about the weekend plans (once we set them). So, let's be thinking about availability on Wednesday and Thursday for phone banking.We are meeting on Wednesday at 7:30 am at the coffee place Dannemen's at Boulevard & Edgewood (former Javaology)See you there!

It is based on the boundaries of three precincts in Fulton County, which were put together into one team by the campaign. If you live outside of our precise boundaries or across the line in Dekalb, no worries! You are welcome here! We aim to register and reach out to voters in this general area. We are all working for the same goal: electing Barack Obama and turning Georgia Blue!

Voter Registration - Soliciting Ideas for Good Locations

We are doing voter registration (and hopefully some volunteer recruitment) today at the East Atlanta Village Farmers Market (if the rain holds out!).

Yesterday, several team coordinators - Ann, Naeemah, Reed, & me - met with Peter (our brave leader with the campaign's Fulton County HQ) to discuss getting our activities ramped up between now and OCTOBER 6 (last day to change address or register to vote!!). Our other goal is to recruit volunteers to do voter registration and then GOTV (get out the vote) for Obama on November 4. Some locations that we thought of IN OUR TURF (or nearby) include:

the EAV famers market (Thursday afternoon and evening) & EAV in general,
the market at the Shed in Glenwood Pak (Saturday morning),
the area on North Hioghland near the Grape, the Parish, Fritti, etc. (after work and on weekends)
L5P post office, Sevananda, etc
the Inman Park MARTA station
the MLK national monument
Parkgrounds coffeeshop in Reynoldstown (after work and on weekends) (good place to reach reynoldstown and cabbagetown residents)
Southside High School

There are a lot of condos and townhouses that are gated in our area and we need to brainstorm ways to reach people who live there.
