A health care plan to expand the insurance industry and hurt the sick and the poor. It sure does look like special interests are going to win. I am not sure that it has been everybody sitting at the table transparently. It does not even seem like the American people really had representatives just our corporations. I guess it is a good thing corporations are imortal and really don't need health care.

It looks like we are going to have a health care bill everyone will hate other than the health insurance industry and pharmacuetical countries.
Do you travel with Barack Obama? I do!
I happen to travel domestically quite often and usually pass through Detroit and Minneapolis airports when I do. There is always a layover at one of these airports, as I wait for my connecting flight. I spend this time reading, eating, writing, watching tv, watching people and talkng to people. More often than not, I spend the time talking to people around me.
For the past six months, I've been traveling with Barack Obama by wearing one of my Obama t-shirts. I am finding that this is a great way to start a conversation with people. Not only do I meet fellow Obama supporters from around the country but more importantly, I strike up a conversation with people who may still be sitting on the fence, wondering who they are going to support. It's even better than phone banking, and almost as good as neighbor-to-neighbor, as I am having a face-to-face conversation with people.
So far, everyone who comments or asks questions has either been an Obama supporter or an undecided voter. (I am not interested in debating a McCain supporter and assume that the people who send me negative non-verbal cues don't want to talk with me either!) But I am interested in talking about why I support Barack Obama and this is a great way to know if that stranger next to me wants to have that conversation because she or he initiates it. I just provide the nudge and green light with the image of Barack Obama on me! What a great way to strike up a conversation and have an influence on this election!
I also travel with Barack locally in New York City. I have a cloth bag with "Obama 08" on it that I use when I shop. It sometimes sparks a conversation while waiting in the supermarket line.
In addition, my sign in the back window of my car has struck up several conversations with the people pumping my gas and with my hairdresser, who happened to see it one day while I was parking my car in his business parking lot.
So I urge fellow travelers to join me and travel with Barack Obama. You'll feel good about the potential influence you will be making on this important election.
Bon Voyage!
We are again at Tank in Manhattan with Young Democrats to watch the acceptance speech. It was over capacity! There where there 150 people with only this afternoon 45 confirmed. It means that everybody must of brought several other with them. It is the essence of natural and compassionate leadership for people that care take people to places and things that are great that matter. I think I got 2 extra people there from Tuesday event. It builds energy, awareness, commitment and belief. It was as if we where sitting right under the stadium watching on the closed circuit TV. Leadership Barack did his job in this aspect. Clearly highlighted the issue. Created protection from the petty and tiny republican campaign mentality to create fear, scarcity and opposition. Instead of hope, unity and possibility! Let's get people registered in every state in the country. All in the US aspire to what Obama said tonight. All could stand with America and their fellows here and around the world and say we can do better. We can take care of each person in this world. Taking care of people creates much more value than trying to take care of dollars.
It not only got to us. It even got to Pat Buchanan amazing! He is saying this is the best speech at a convention ever! He has to be cut off for time. He is reading the text exaltant!

McCain stood up at the Iowa State Fair and told Iowans that he did not support subsidizing the ethanol industry. This is a sure way to start losing votes. While this is good for Obama, I still think it is a dumb move for the McCain campaign.
I know many people outside the Midwest do not support the subsidies either, but without it, midwestern farmers would likely plant less corn. That would mean even higher prices at the pump, and at the store. It is expensive to make ethanol - and without the subsidies, the factories would be unable to produce enough of the ethanol that is required for the new standards. I also find it interesting that McCain supports subsidizing the big oil companies, and supports offshore drilling.

Most of us here have a combined interest in helping get Barack Obama into office this November. I was wondering if anyone supports, volunteers, or is interested in the local elections here in Nebraska. Candidates for Congress and Senate.
We have four races with Democrats running including:
Congress:
1st Distirct: Max Yashirin http://www.maxcongress.com/
2nd District: Jim Esch http://www.jimesch.org/
3rd District: Jay Stoddard
Senate:
Scott Kleeb http://www.scottkleeb.com/
I have been doing things for the Jim Esch campaign in addition to the Obama campaign. I would love to here others who are involved in local races. If you live in Omaha/Sarpy and want to learn more about Jim Esch -or even get involved, let me know you can join my team!
We where 4 for 3 on our endorsement event!
Sen. Frank Lautenberg followed suit after winning his own primary race for nomination to a fifth term.
"It's very obvious. I'm going to support the Democrat. The Democrat is obviously Barack Obama," Lautenberg told reporters after his victory speech. "I know him on a personal basis. ... He's very smart, he's quick to learn. ... I'm very excited about his presidency.
Thanks everyone! Lets get busy registering new voters! Creating conversions to Obama of HRC supporters to Obama activists, Republicans to Obamacans.

Congratulations to the Obama family on this historic moment in our nation's history!
On a blog I regularly read called Electronic Village, author Wayne Hicks has compied a lst of what he calls former Team Clinton members who are supporting Barack Obama. Many of those on his list were closely associated with President Clinton's presidency. Most notably, Bill Richardson is the one that stands out due to his role in President Clinton's cabinet and because he has gotten the most media attention. I am not in favor of spending my energy on what I perceive to be the negative tactics of my candidate's opponents. It is also usually my practice to "take the high road" as much as possible when debating the differences between the candidates. I cannot, however, help but pause and observe the facts on this one. The list itself makes its own statement, without me having to say it directly. I invite you to take a look at his article and add your comments about others you may know to add to the list, both here and on his blog.
You can read his post here.
The Obama Doctrine
This is a must read if you would like to hear something to put the Obama doctrine in perspective with the other modern presidents.

Let's banish the politics of fear and treat our the people of our nation and other nations with dignity. We will not be able to create value and make correct decisions for the benifit of our nation and the people in the world with the warped view of fear that has been created by the leadership of our country. Humanity needs to be placed above ism especially the neo conservatism of the Bush Administration. I do think the citizens of the Mid-West and West live with lots of dignity thus recognize even when the color of the skin humanity and dignity and trust it.
As a former Iowan and now living in New York City/Jersey City I there are circles where everyone feels as if they are world citizens so background and race do not matter. But there also is at times street crime and snap judgements at times can be made on race. It is time to get beyond this and recognize that carrying bais from the street into the workplace and our schools is wrong.
We must treat all with dignity on the Macro Level countries are not people. How often have you seen countries judged as if they where a single person that gets mad, sad and happy, that they are mean or crazy going to hold a grudge etc. It is very crazy really but that is how the adminstration characterizes issues between countries and the media propagates it. Like the silly anti French sentiments a country that was crucial in the formation of our nation thus there are many faces of and relations of France for example.
Yes no fear, more reality, more dignity more peace for the citizens of the world.
Lets write our neighboors in PA. It was a great tactic used in the Dean Campaign.
From a post I found on the daily kos:
I suspect that many ( changed this, Obama supporters) out there are also Deaniacs from way back in 2004 (sigh). One of the hallmarks of Howard Dean's revolutionary campaign was writing personal letters to voters in Iowa and New Hampshire. To my knowledge, this had never been done before.
With Obama's on-line supporters now numbering in excess of one million, it would only take each one of us writing fewer than 10 letters each before every eligible voter in PA had a heartfelt, passionate letter from a real person in their mailbox. If we can win on April 22 in PA, this race will come to an abrupt end. A successful letter writing campaign can close the gap for Obama in PA.
Here's how it would work:
(1) By hand, write a heartfelt note to five households in PA. You can use Google, 411.com, or any of a number of online databases for names and addresses.
(2) BE RESPECTFUL and explain your support for Obama and why you believe he will be the best choice for Commander in Chief and why you are writing them today. Do not denigrate the other candidates, but feel free to draw contrasts. Make a point to ASK them to vote for Barack on April 22.
(3) If you wish to discuss issues, it's best to stick to the ones YOU know about or experience personally. This makes for a much more effective letter. Keep in mind that economic issues are at the forefront of most people's minds right now, especially in PA.
(4) Despite what you might think, many voters are not junkies like most of us, so there is still alot of "introducing Barack" to be done. www.wikipedia.org has a great biography on Obama.
(5) Sign the letter with your real name and address and refer the recipient to www.barackobama.com for more information.
Postcards from your local area are also cool and interesting. I'm going to write five letters this weekend. I grew up a rural white voter, so those are the areas I'll be targeting. If anyone has advice, please comment below! Cheers!
Fairness in our economy is now one of the great divides in our nation, it takes knowlege and courage to address this. Sen Barack Obama takes this challenge on. It is rare that someone shares the background necessary to understand goverment and it's place in shaping the economy. Sen. Barack Obama laid out a good historical context of some of the current postive and negative forces in our economy. Only with a coherent understanding and strategy can decisions that improve this complex system. Shallow idealogy that motivates the republicans to mindlessly advocate deregulation and tax cuts undermine the possibility of US economy being the top economy in the future, and the benifits that go with it for our citizens. The prosperity of US has come about largly because our investment in regulating markets, encouragement of fair distribution of wealth with our tax code, public education, our social safety net.
It is time people learn how to protect their self interests and everyone's interests.
It is time for a green economy.
Speech at Cooper Union http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSuT5zN2SPI&feature=user
Lets all watch this speech as see that our candidate really has a grasp of the issues and can lead all of U.S. forward on this issue. Then our understanding or share the speech with our friends.
